This is awesome. I drive 9 hours coming from home after work. I do have a room in camp but after 14 days there. I leave right after my last shift. I would pull over for a nap but would sleep for about 5 hours.
Hey Chris, based upon your excellent review I bought a truck air mattress. Actually, at first I super cheaped out and bought one that was only $48 delivered, but it was a little smaller, had a horrible smell, and went flat the very first night. Sent it back and got the Pittman full size truck mattress and so far so good. Fits my Ram 3500 crew cab from door to door and seat to seat perfectly. Will be using it at the next Las Vegas drags this month to save some money, plus I hate to leave my truck, trailer and car sitting outside at a hotel unattended. Thanks again!
Glad to hear the same Pittman is working out for you. It's held up for me so far too which is good. I used it in North Carolina during this vid, then in Kansas for 1 night, and then just the other week in Kentucky for MoParty where I used it for 4 nights. This last trip I left late in the day so I had it setup before I even left. Made it super easy when I stopped at a rest area. I was able to just climb over the center console into the back lol. I did find one other thing that made it more comfortable. In Kansas it was hot and because of the bugs I couldn't really have my windows open, so it got a bit stuffy inside. Since then I found these mesh screens that slip over the doors like socks. They let you keep the windows open overnight while blocking the bugs out. I used it in Kentucky and it worked perfect and gave me plenty of ventilation overnight. I have a separate vid coming out on them but still getting caught up on my detroit week vids.
@@artillerybuff2000 here's my affiliate link to the rear door screens I got off amazon. No reason to make you wait for my vid on them lol. They have different sizes and it can get confusing. These XXL ones fit my rear crew cab doors perfectly. amzn.to/3SphHYZ
Can’t get a better review when it’s from a fellow racer. About to buy one of these for sure now. Hitting a few out of town tracks this coming season so this will be perfect
That's awesome to hear! I knew there had to be more racers out there! I've used this at a few other races since this vid too and it's still holding up great. I'm definitely going to be using it at some out of town races this year too.
It's a game changer for sure. I've had this one over 2 years now and still use it. Makes road trips so much easier, and has helped me feel better rested when I just need to pull over for a quick hour or two power nap.
This was a great video. I’m going hunting in a few weeks and I didn’t want to spend big bucks on a canvas tent, cot, sleeping bag, or wood stove. This is perfect, whether it snows or rains hard, not worried about a soaking went ground.
I just got back from a 3 day race weekend trip and slept on this mattress in my truck all weekend again and still love it. One of my best purchases. I did add one other thing that made it even better though. I found these mesh screens that slide down over the tops of the doors like a sock. It let me roll the windows down to get fresh air coming through while keeping the bugs out. Made living in the back seat even better. Thanks for watching!
Glad I could help! It's definitely a game changer for road trips when you need to save money, or need that couple hour power nap in the middle of the night during a long drive. Thanks for watching!
Brutha. I race stock Outboard hydroplanes and pull a light 2 boat trailer with 2021 Ford Ranger. I crash at service plazas occasionally...I'm doing this. Thank you so much. Diz
It’s been a game changer for me on race weekends. This vid is from almost 2 years ago and I’m still using it. Boat racing sounds like a blast. I remember when I lived in Detroit they’d have hydroplane racing on the Detroit River all the time and I always wanted to go see them but could never make it out
How do you get air flow inside the truck if your crack the window , skeeters get in. Do you leave a window slightly open in your set up? Great vid here!
When I did this vid, it wasn't an issue. Bugs weren't really out yet and temps were cool overnight. Then a month later I had a race in Kansas where it was hot and humid and the bugs were definitely out. That was miserable lol. Did some searching online and found these nylon screen sock things that go over your door. Solved that problem perfectly. I did a vid on those too that you can check out here along with links to the screens I got in that vids description - ua-cam.com/video/QkUAK2AXfWE/v-deo.htmlsi=7pJzNATwbhnR-Av3. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for this video! I just watched the whole thing and ordered the mattress for my husband with your affiliate link. He's going to be teaching a barbecue class in North Carolina and needs a way to sleep in his truck!
Thanks for watching and especially for using my link, I really appreciate it. Hopefully he loves it as much as I do, definitely makes those out of town trips a lot easier.
Good question, I thought about that for a moment at first but then never really noticed the slope so didn’t give it much more thought. I think there is still a little bit of a slope but again, it’s not something I’ve noticed and I’ve used this mattress a lot since I got it in this vid, even as recently as last month at a race in Kentucky. I had a buddy of mine go there too and he decided to get this mattress and give it a try for at least the first night. He said it was comfortable and ended up just sleeping in his truck the rest of the weekend.
Thanks for the review. Do you leave any window cracked some when you sleep in your truck? I am planning to use this Pittman mattress to sleep in my truck soon and wondering if ok to leave no window cracked (worried about bugs entering). I know vehicles are not air tight but wondering if it gets too stuffy for breathing comfort in there if all windows/moon-roof are rolled up/shut. Thanks
The weather was just right the weekend I did this vid and I was fine without cracking open any windows. The next month I used it again for a race in Kansas and it was a lot hotter but the bugs were insane so opening the windows wasn't an option. Then I found these window sock screens and problem solved. Been using these ever since. Here's the vid I did on the screens ua-cam.com/video/QkUAK2AXfWE/v-deo.htmlsi=MjBYjfT4Ku19rRJ_
I got a great idea from this also to make it even more comfortable u can use the bottom piece for the floor then go to mattress shop with exact measurements and out a actual foam mattress on top it would be bigger amd probably better to be honest then air
That's a good idea! Especially if you're someone that doesn't really like air mattresses. If you did that I wonder if they maybe sell a bottom only replacement piece?
@@Scavenger1320 yea would be good idea. And if you dont want to use any air you could go to Walmart buy a bunch of pillows and blankets stuff the floor till its level with the seats then put a foam mattress on top. That would probably be the most comfortable to be honest. I hate air mattress.
I still love it, in fact I’ll be using it next week when I head out to another race weekend in Kentucky. I’ll be camping out in my truck at the track and will spend 4 nights sleeping on this mattress.
You can and I’ve done that, but in most trucks it won’t lay completely flat, plus you have the dip in the middle between the lower and upper parts of the seat, plus your legs are still bent with feet on the floor. In other words, it’s not comfortable. It’s ok to get in a quick couple hour power nap at a rest area, but that’s about it.
I'm honestly not familiar with Ford trucks, or the extended cab, but I would think it would still fit. It is just filled with air so even if it didn't have room to fill out all the way it would still fill the entire gap there is.
I believe it should fit the quad cabs also. I know in my crew cab if I move the front seats as far forward as they can go it leaves a pretty good gap between the seat and the mattress, I'd say maybe 6-8" at least. I don't know the exact measurements but I would think that's not too far off of the difference in rear seat area for a QC.
Thanks for the tip. Just checked them out. It would be nice to be able to get just the sides though since I already have a windshield shade. I did end up getting some window screens that let you open the windows to get airflow while keeping bugs out. Those have helped a lot with shade. I also ended up with a system where I hang towels like drapes by stuffing the edges between the headliner and pillar trims. It's been working out pretty good for me for a while now.
I guess that depends on how you use it and how often. I filmed this vid 2 and a half years ago and have used it numerous times for race weekends since then and it's still holding air and doing its job to this day. Easily one of my best purchases. But like with everything, there's always going to be some failures, mine just isn't one of them.

Hey man I've been wanting to get one for my truck. What's your weight? I know air mattress' generally don't hold up well over 200 lbs
I'm 6'2 and 235 pounds and it's held up good so far. I've used it at a few more weekend races after I made this vid too

The lower needs more air
Great idea, besides your truck an Challenger are safer
That's for sure, but sucks that I have to worry about it.
You should always ventilate and use a magnet and screen material to keep bugs out. I wonder about a 235lb x 4'6" x 10" male popping this thing.
