RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. TOOL'S whole discography is about healing and evolving. In the beginning hard and angry into the present, older and refined.
Spot on! 🤟🏿
Indubitably.
Well said. Their discography is watching the whole band grow up and evolve into higher versions of their selves.
little do i know, They talk alot about gravity and the motions of our universe. And egos too🥴
I as an OGT have had the pleasure of taking this journey with them. Growing from angry 18yr old to the hopeful, spiritual adult I am today.
It’s never to late for TOOL
So true! I was 56 just over a year ago when I finally got hooked!
Too*
...L
Amen!
Justin Chancellor, Tool's bassist, never gets enough respect. He's amazing and just as influential to what Tool's sound has evolved to.
This is Saturn coming back around for you. Those lessons you learned. The Grudges you kept. You've grown up. You've let them go. Turned these leaden grudges into gold!
Greatest band on the planet, a 30 year history of growing together as men, they are so tight because they are organic, not copying anyone, not trying to be anyone, they are TooL, and in this world to be unique is unheard of, they are unique, it is the most cerebral band in existence, now that we have lost Neil, this is the greatest modern drummer alive...Danny Carey, and you must, absolutely must pay attention to the lyrics, the man not only has one of the most naturally powerful voices in music but is thee and I mean thee greatest lyricist of all time, the albums tell stories very much in the vein of Pink Floyd, If you follow through and investigate this band and their catalog it will be the greatest musical journey you have ever taken
We've heard about the lyrics, we promise to keep it in mind next time! Thanks for watching! :) - Lex
This.
Agree with you
Greatest band on the planet?Thats arguable.A unique band that is amazing.DEFINITELY
Try Opeth before you make that ultimate proclamation.I would argue not that Opeth are the greatest band on the planet, but ANOTHER example of a unique band that is amazing. There are others as well, like Dream Theater to name another. These kinds of bands are absolute masters & virtuosos at their craft with a unique recognizable sound, but I just can't agree that any one of them is the "greatest" above the rest.
Well now the Daft Punk is disbanded, you're right, greatest band on the planet.
I think y'all should do this album in order. I mean, you already started on track 1🤷♂️ plus it's an insanely well produced, composed, and preformed album that changed my life
We might just do that! :) thanks for watching!
Best GOD DAMN ALBUM.
@@NicknLex If you do go for listening to the whole album, there's a few songs people typically combine because they're kind of meant to go together. "Parabol" and "Parabola" are practically one song so it could be worthwhile to listen to both at the same time. "Disposition", then "Reflection", then "Triad" is referred to often as the "Holy Trinity" and musically go together, but you can do them all seperately. Combined they do make for a very long song. :D
@@NicknLex where is the Tool?
Love watching peoples' minds blown by that 25 second scream near the end.
There are live performances on here where he roars that out for a good 23-24 seconds
This band is unique, and they absolutely function as a unit. I think they are the most organic rock band ever. A dive into Maynard's lyrics is highly recommended! One of the greatest lyricists and singers ever. And that 25 SECOND scream at 7:00 still blows my mind 20 years later... Every FUCKING Time!! 🤯
React to “Pneuma” Danny Carey drum cam. It showcases how great of a drummer he is. One of the best drummers in the history of music, IMO. Phenomenal song and performance by Danny Carey
Lifelong Tool fans really enjoy seeing new listeners embrace their sound and unparalled writing and musicianship! Welcome aboard! You should study the band bio’s to understand where these sounds originate! Best track of all time!
The lyrics are just as impressive as the music. There's always a deep meaning behind them.
Best scream in a song.....EVER!
Maynard has some amazing fry screams, he has lungs like a machine. He is able to hold enough breath between notes, I said a vocal couch explain for he carries his notes.
Welcome to your latest wormhole Tool. The band members are the following: Vocals- Maynard James Keenan ( usually just Maynard), Danny Carey- Drums and Percussion, Adam Jones-Guitar, Justin Chancellor-Bass.
Opening track to one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded.
TOOL is a life lesson in Itself. Maynard has the lyrics so soulful,, purposeful, meaningful and straight to the heart and mind. Adam, Danny and Justin are the perfect vessel in which to deliver that meaning. And brilliant musicians in their own right. They all sit at the same end of the table on decision making. Nothing is lost by listening to TOOL, just a greater understanding of one’s self.
Top React by you both🤘
Thank you for the info and support! Sending peace, Lex :)
Yes, Tool can leave you speechless!
Great reaction as always!
Thanks so much for your support! :) Always appreciated! - Lex
The smiles on your faces, makes this 42 year old man giddy AF! I’ve been a fan of this band since I was 16 and in high school, back in ‘94......they just hit on a different level. They’ve basically been the soundtrack to my life. Best.Band.Ever
Aww thanks so much for your support! So glad you enjoyed it! :) - Lex
This is one of the BEST reactions ever!! Because this is exactly the way I felt when I heard them for the 1st time 25 years ago! 💗❤🤘💯💯👍
Thank you so much for the awesome compliment and for joining us; we love having you! :) - Lex
My favourite song of all time from the greatest album ever recorded
My favorite song is Reflection but I love the Grudge, too, it's right behind and Lateralus is actually my favorite album of all time, too.
Pink Floyd poster, I have faith in these two.
Hi babe 😘
Maynard's lyrics go deep. You are missing out by not diving into his words. Just subscribed to watch your brains melt listening to TOOL. These guys are my generations PINK FLOYD.
This Tool is the most incredible band I’ve ever heard. If you do more of them I’ll sub.
I am 63 years old and this band evokes the same passion in me !
This drummer, Danny Carey, just happens to be one of the best who's ever done it. Check the Pneuma drum cam video for evidence.
If you're not too far into their catalog yet, it's quite the journey to start at the beginning and work your way through chronologically to hear the evolution of their sound. And there's not a bad song
“Kick someone’s ass...but not in a bad way.” 🤣 Tool beats the spirit of enlightenment into you. Third Eye next!
There is SO much amazing music to hear from this band. Please enjoy.
This song helped me so much in my life. I was able to stop holding grudges that was keeping me from having relationships with people who I now treasure. Thanks for your reaction.
Thank you for sharing that with us and for your support. Sending peace, Lex :)
It's a good thing you didn't listen to Tool back then. If you're not ready, it'll turn you off. Even after twenty years, I have to wait til I'm ready to listen to tool. It's never long, though. If I go more than two days, I get the shakes.
Well said, I heard Tool from Opiate, but wasn’t a fan. I heard undertow, wasn’t a fan, and 10,000 days...guess what? Wasn’t a fan. I wasn’t ready for Tool, and now I love listening to all their albums. It’s all about if you’re ready for it or not. I still have friends who don’t like Tool, but that’s because they’re just not ready.
Please react to Tool's cover of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter. IT IS FIRE!!🔥🔥🎸🎸🔥🔥
Ohh actually the original No Quarter is on our list, but after that we'll be sure to do Tool's cover! :)
yall are cute af. the unspoken communication lol. love
You will see that TOOLs version or cover is better than the original. No disrespect to the greatest band of all time LZ, but that’s how much respect TOOL had for LZ that they performed it live and made the song sound amazing.
You guys should react to Forty Six and Two and also check out some kids who covered the band and also performed Forty Six and Two. The singer is a little girl that kinda sounds like the singer for Fly Leaf. Another Masterpiece of a song is Right in Two. Actually dam I could list dozens more and say the same thing so I’ll stop here.
I subbed, I always appreciate people discovering Tool.
One of the greatest albums of all time. You’re in for a treat with this album...disposition reflection triad will make your heads explode!
Yes definitely agree you guys should just finish this album!! Its definitely one if their greatest!! Great reaction can't wait to see more
I really like your videos, guys. I've only seen a few, but your engagement and excitement for this music is something I really appreciate. Tool has been with me for so many of my own ups and downs, and they're just amazing.
I hope you guys do a lot more reactions to Tool. Not just for the Tool Army, but for you guys as well. They're music is transcendent and spiritual on a whole other level, and it empowers the listener like nothing else.
They were playing with elements of straightforward progressive rock during the making of salival it was kind of them testing the grounds when they released Lateralus it was a game changer they fully embraced the progressive elements and the sound got notably more cinematic like big sounds.
Absolutely LOVE the passion and I swear all the time with this song!! LOL. One of their all time best songs! IMO! 💪🏼
saturn ascends, choose 1 or 10, hang on or be humbled again
thank you for all of your heartfelt comments on this greatness.... and the warmth that I sense from both of you... keep up the good work! greetz from Belgium... btw, you got a 'new' subscriber, though I"m 62❤
This one of the most epic songs live. Tool is timeless. Up front you have that moment when you realize there is only one drummer no additional percussions its all DC then massive guitar drop, then you get to maynards GO for 27 seconds (some length as Saturn returns FYI) followed by the most ruthless outro of all time. Welcome to the Army.
Never too late to discover TOOL... After the strength, the introspection, surely you'll find a kind of salvation listening to TOOL, like, I guess, many of us. Enjoy !
Huge french fan since 1993
Tool is one of a kind. These transitions are insane!
Tool + headphones = mind blown.
Tool + Live = out of body experience.
Welcome to the army, looking forward to watching your content!
Tool since 92'
Recommend: Jimmy & Reflections✌
Great to be able to share Tool with and experience for the first time again vicariously through you both. You can see the love and appreciation of music in both of you. Excited to watch the journey. It’s a long and wild ride with these guys.
Thank you so much for your kind wortds and warm welcome; we're happy to have you share this with us! :) - Lex
Cherish these moments!! To go back and experience Tool with a really cool chic is so special. Happy for you both.
We were just talking about this; how special it will be to look back in a few years and see all these moments captured. This channel and all of you are truly a blessing to us! :) Thank you for your kind words and support, Lex.
I've been listening to Tool for 30 years. They only get better!
Great reaction looking forward to you guys discovering how great Tool is! Aenema, 46&2, Stinkfist, are all good starter songs for Tool.
Thanks for your support! :) - Lex
Stinkfist and Schism have the best middle sections in my opinion, they are my favorite breakdowns in Tool songs of all time
Don’t worry about the lyrics. Listening to their songs as a whole for your first time is the way to go. That way the lyrics don’t distract you from the rest of the song. Also, most of Tools lyrics are pretty deep/confusing and you may or may not understand them your first time listening. But the beauty of tools lyrics are that they can be interpreted differently by each listener. Love yalls reactions and glad to welcome some new members to the army! Spiral out 🌀
Thank you so much for your support and warm welcome; we're happy to have you on our channel! :) - Lex
"respect the change" lol I LOVE that. This is definitely one of my top few songs (thought its an ever-changing list). Enjoy your journey! I always love seeing people become new Tool fans. Their sound has truely evolved from their first songs all the way through Fear Inoculum but it always "sounds" like Tool. One of the very few bands that have been able to change with each album and still maintain everything about them that fans love. I still love Sober just as I love Pneuma. I was never much of a drummer fan, always more a guitarist (which I love Adam) but watching Danny Carey just get more and more insane with each album has been a pure joy over the years. And Justin Chamberlin....I never feel like a specific bassist adds much to the sound of a band but his tone and the way he plays w/ Adam is just fantastic.
Lateralus is my favourite album of all time. I've always though it was ahead of its time and it still is.
7:55. That’s a great point! Structure is so key with this band.
Tool is the mastermind. All of these guys genius combined is not fair😂
I really like your reactions NicknLex. Such honest appreciation for this music is refreshing.
That's so sweet of you; thank you for your support! :) - Lex
To enhance your Tool experience, have the lyrics available. The music is phenomenal on its own, however this band is like a car and each wheel is represented by a different band member. Not understanding the message or reading the lyrics is like driving a Ferrari with 3 wheels. What Maynard puts into the lyrics and the meanings (as hidden as they can sometimes be), really does have an impact on the initial impression for each song. Enjoy guys. The Tool Army is a family, welcome.
Coming up on 28 years since I heard my 1st Tool song (Sober) debut on Headbangers ball. I was 16 then!
I like that you are not getting distracted from the lyrics, every tool album comes with out the lyrics
You guys are refreshing and pleasant ...cheers from cali🤘
POWERFUL is the word that I feel sums up their music the best.
You're already on the path, keep following, who knows where it will take you. 🤘
I read or heard somewhere that Danny the drummer was voted best drummer 11yrs in a row, and also Danny said a couple wks ago they had a lot of material ready and was coming out with some new stuff.💚🛠
First rate reaction, you two! I think this song was one of the best outros among Tool's discography. Great stuff!
Thanks for the awesome compliment! We're happy to have you and sending peace, Lex :)
Every time I hear that scream I get light headed and my heart wants to come out my chest. 20years after i bought that album.
I get so happy watching other feel Tool the way I do. Cause since I was 12 they have been my unicorn. I am 40 now. They have been the best band cause they are not metal but just true music. Meaning they play what they want how they want when they want.
Amazing reaction! Subbed and liked!! Thanks for rewinding too, definitely gets everyone back into the flow. 🔥Pneuma By TOOL is unbelievable, followed by the live version which is a drum cam that is a must, y’all would absolutely dig it! Cheers from frozen Texas
Thanks so much for your support and your positive vibes! We will definitely be doing many more Tool songs to come, this is barely our second!! We love having you, sending peace and take care! From even-more-frozen, Denver. :) Lex
I remember when I first starting really digging into TOOL, the music was completely enrapturing, but damn, I had to know what Maynard was saying. It was imperative. His voice commanded it.
Oh man just wait until Vicarious and Jambi come around
Just discovered y’all and I love the channel! Y’all are very knowledgeable and flow off each other so well. I also love that y’all are Hispanic lol. Raza!!! Loved your cafe tacuba Spanish reaction, too.
Hola!!! Muchas gracias y bienvenido al canal!!! It’s great to have you and awesome that you can enjoy both English and Spanish with us!! Abrazo!! - Lex
For me it's the most incdredible and unique song ever witten. Definition of synergy and wisdom.
This song is my guide to change. For the better. Always for the better my man. Cheers
Thank you for sharing and sending peace, Lex :)
You two are in for quite a ride! This is just the tip of a very deep iceberg.. enjoy!
Yeah the 90s were tough for me too. We didn't get internet until 97 lol
I was bullied a lot at school for difficulty learning hand-eye coordination.
Do a back to back of Pushit...first album, then the live version off the Salival album..It is like 2 totally different songs..dont worry about length of video... we will watch.
This is what I suggested as well. Such a fantastic song and then reimagined and it's just as awesome.
YES!
Love this and you’re TOOL adventure 😁🌀
I think you are correct. TOOL was a bit ahead of the time coming out of the metal and new metal days. Also even though it was critically acclaimed they did not get a lot of radio play in most places due to the song lengths. But TOOL is timeless and just as good today.
James Maynard is like Frank Zappa a complete and utter genius
Hi, My best friend played Opium for me
and quickly held on to Tool. I'm a drummer and mainly listen to Danny
Carry!
Wow this was the first CD I ever bought. This is the first track on the album. It is impeccable
A lot of the lyrics of this song actually related directly to a myth called The Greatness Of Saturn. Robert Svoboda wrote a book about this myth which is quite beautiful in looking more directly at the archetypal aspects you find in Tool's music and this song in particular.
Her smile says it all.
This song is like everything you want in a tool song
I'm here for this journey
Saw them on the Lateralus tour at the Garden in NYC right after 9/11 and it was a mind alternating experience and to this day is one of the best concerts I've ever witnessed. The number of police cars around the Garden, the atmosphere in the city, the feeling in the air that night had me on edge, in fact I was practically dragged to the show not being a huge fan of the band. Little did I know what I was going to see and hear. Let's just say I immediately went out and bought the album....the rest is Toolistory.
Got goosebumps reading your comment. Thanks for sharing; truly sounds like an unforgettable experience. Sending peace, Lex :)
You just dove into a rabbit hole you can't get out of. Welcome to the greatest progressive band of all time. ALWAYS read the lyrics!!!
Spiral out keep going ... ..... ........ .............
So damn hard it turns soft deep inside the mind? Some say their best album
Of you wanna feel aggression listen to ticks & leeches from the same album!!! Love TOOL, it’s my favorite band and this is my absolut favorite album of all time!
You don't have to apologize for not listening to Tool! I'm 40 and didn't get into them until I was in my early 30's. They are timeless. Always available for anyone to experience when they are ready to do so =)
Tool is all about improving yourself. Facing the dark, embracing the light.
What's more amazing is the band creates the music/tracks before Maynard ever hears it, then he writes the lyrics and sings as another instrument
New to you, sweet couple! Keep on the rabbit hole. Maynard and all his related bands are worth diving into and...you will get bombed with fans. This is how we’re getting through the pandemic, too. :) Best wishes!
Thank you so much for your support! :) - Lex
Listen TOOL 'Lateralus' (Fibonacci sequence) or 'Third eye', 'Pneuma', 'Rosetta Stoned', 'Vicarius'...etc.etc.etc.
Mastermind is and has always been Adam Jones (guitar). He is actually the founder of the band. Both Maynard (vocal) and Danny (drums) had joined the band by coincident.
More Tool! Checkout the studio version of Push It and then listen to the live version off the Salival album. Talk about an experience. They redo the structure of the song for the Salival album and it is amazing how they take a great song, change it, and keep it just as great
lol @ that jump in the beginning!
13:00. Great admission of a gap. I applaud people that can admit their mistakes!
More Tool 🤘🥳
Lex has a very expressive face. makes the interaction more detailed
Tool belongs in their own category for which I have named, "Progressive Mental Metal "!
LOVE THIS!

Lastly, Danny uses electronic pads in his kit, which he can programme to any noise of his choosing, e.g tablas- finger drums, bongo’s, clicks, glass smashing etc
Ohhh that makes a lot of sense about the electronic pads... thank you for all this useful info and for joining us! :) - Lex
I've said it once, I'll say it again: The only thing I enjoy as much if not more than Tool is seeing someone else experience them for the first time--you have so much to learn, but it will be an amazing ride. :)
Thanks for your support! :) - Lex
All of them together
I would discuss the song AFTER not during. Glad you're on the Tool journey. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the welcome! Feel free to check out our description where we state why we pause in our videos :) - Lex
The mastermind(s) were all of them. Obviously Danny, Adam and Justin for the music and Maynard for the vocals and lyrics lol. No doubt they all had input on each others parts but it was just one of those perfect mixes of the right people at the right time in the right place, luckily for us.
And yeah, the word I think you're looking for is more primal, when it comes between the difference between Metallica and Tool in that context you talked about.
This whole album is 💯🔥🚒
