Will your insurance company put you up in a motel and rent you a car? If so - find a motel that will let you store the rig in the parking lot…or find a campground that has storage and leave it there. Pay a driver from an RV sales place to tow the rig to the motel or the storage lot at the campground. I have no idea what our insurance would do…I will check into it next week. Praying for you guys. Hang in there!
Thanks for the suggestion….a lot of places cannot accept the liability to move someone’s RV. We haven’t thought about parking at a hotel but would worry about its safety.
Hi, Duane and Belinda! We're so sorry you're going through this ordeal. My son and I met you at Hershey last September. You were so nice helping us figure out our issues with towing our fifth wheel. We have since stayed at Whispering Hills in Georgetown with that very same fifth wheel. Great place and great people. We've been trying to figure out how we can help. Unfortunately, our 3/4 is too small for your rig. 😢 We looked around the KY area for spots and found Renfro KOA south of Lexington. They have sites available for 27 days that can be booked online and their site says to call the office to find out about staying longer than 27 days. And Hip Camp along with Airbnb have rental spots for RVs with hook ups. Other campgrounds in the area: Kentucky horse park in Lexington; Elkhorn campground 11 miles from Georgetown; Kentucky river campground 22 miles from Georgetown; and Stillwaters campground 22 miles from Georgetown. I know this is not much, but hope it helps a little. We're praying for you and thank God you weren't hurt. 🙏♥️

I’m glad you that your truck is not totaled. From my experience, Enterprise truck rental does have a truck that you can rent for your camper. Ram 3500 with a gooseneck if you don’t need a fifth wheel hitch
As an insurance agent. And we insure many campers. Would love to talk to you all about this. But more importantly, personally we insure our truck with our main carrier. Our camper is covered by progressive and we have every bell and whistle we have with them. Coverage checklist would be super helpful and I’ll work on one and share with you everyone! But rental car is really important. Also stop shopping direct to the progressive use an agent like me. Calling the company direct and getting your coverage is easy but when you have this situation you want to call and talk to an agent not the 800 number. Happy to help and discuss insurance any time!

Ditto on trying to get a dually rental. We tried all around and every which way for weeks to rent a bigger truck last fall to test pull our fifth wheel (that you helped us with), but had no luck. All the big trucks were contracted out on commercial leases.

Maybe check with a companie that sells campers because they move campers every day. Done and over now but a u haul rental van at $20 a day in town. Rental car on your vehicle policy.

I thought that an RV-enlightened insurance company such as Progressive, front and center at all the major RV shows, would be more progressive and assertive in cases like yours. In all you're going through, the least you don't need is frustration dealing with your insurer. God's willing, I a month's time, this will all be behind you. Each State has their own auto insurance stipulations in its policy; to where time for fixing your vehicle is not of the essence. However, GOD has a plan. If I owned a Ford F150 or 250, I would definitely reach out to help move you all around. Blessings to you both that you're safe. Try Liberty Auto Insurance, not sure if they cover that state, but they are good from my experience.

If I may suggest focusing your search for a rental vehicle on the construction industry. I have rented a one ton dually with a fifth wheel from a company called summit industries to move a piece of construction equipment.

Praying things are done quickly. I would leave plenty of room in front of you so you have that safety. People travel too fast and too close on those roads.
Have you tried uhaul for a truck as I have seen a couple that can pull a fifth wheel. The other is to contact a trailer (horse trailer) dealers that will move your fifth wheel inexpensively. A friend did that and had to move 3 times while their truck needed to be fixed and it was less than towing companies or others charged. She said it was less than one move by other places for the 3 moves. Good luck to you all!

Thanks for the suggestion. Harvest Host are great for overnight stays and we use them often, but they are not for long time stays. We have been blessed with somewhere to stay with one of our local subscriber friends.

Hey friends, have you considered renting an RV on RV share for the glampout. They will deliver. We are renting one because ours is down. For the price of a hotel nightly will be the same as a rv rental.

Maybe check for private land/homeowners who have a place with full hookups you can rent from, my daughter and son in law full time because of his job are renting for a private residence who happens to have a full hookup spot on their property.

After going through this does it make you second guess not getting a drivable with a tow vehicle instead of your Momentum? Wish there was something we could do to help! Hey guys….no we didn’t second guess. We never really thought about getting a drivable RV. This was really a series of unfortunate events and could have happened even if we were in a sticks & bricks. We still love our Momentum and our F350 truck.
Question, in our area there are RV campgrounds that are more focused on Contractors to long term stays in an area. Perhaps one of that kind of parks are nearby and would accommodate you guys. Since they accommodate those guys they may have a space for long term

Hey, yall. I'm not sure how it works, but I've heard you mention Harvest Host and that they let you stay for a day. Is there one that's close to you that may make an exception and let you do an extended stay? If so, maybe you can have the camper towed there, or maybe one of your friends can use their truck to pull you there? On another note, I've never known yalls age, and I must say Mr. Duane does not look 64!
Thanks a msleigh….Harvest Host usually only allow one or two night stays. We have made arrangements for somewhere to stay for a few days so I think we will be ok for right now. Yes, we both are 64.

I thought that an RV-enlightened insurance company such as Progressive, front and center at all the major RV shows, would be more progressive and assertive in cases like yours. In all you're going through, the least you don't need is frustration dealing with your insurer. God's willing, I a month's time, this will all be behind you. Each State has their own auto insurance stipulations in its policy; to where time for fixing your vehicle is not of the essence. However, GOD has a plan. If I owned a Ford F150 or 250, I would definitely reach out to help move you all around. Blessings to you both that you're safe. Try Liberty Auto Insurance, not sure if they cover that state, but they are good from my experience.

Hey guys…thanks for your prayers. We had one of our subscriber/friends offer his full hook up site at his house to us so we are going to be ok for a while. Hopefully the truck repair won’t take as long as estimated.
Its surprising the insurance company wouldn't cover a truck rental while your truck is being repaired.
We need a one ton Ford Dually which is not easily accessible through a rental company. One with a hitch that works with our 5th wheel.

If I may suggest focusing your search for a rental vehicle on the construction industry. I have rented a one ton dually with a fifth wheel from a company called summit industries to move a piece of construction equipment.

Have you tried uhaul for a truck as I have seen a couple that can pull a fifth wheel. The other is to contact a trailer (horse trailer) dealers that will move your fifth wheel inexpensively. A friend did that and had to move 3 times while their truck needed to be fixed and it was less than towing companies or others charged. She said it was less than one move by other places for the 3 moves. Good luck to you all!

Thanks for the suggestion. Harvest Host are great for overnight stays and we use them often, but they are not for long time stays. We have been blessed with somewhere to stay with one of our local subscriber friends.
Hi Duane and Linda. We are about 30 minutes south of Lexington. I might have a solution for a place to park for a longer stay, if you want to leave a way to contact you. I have a second driveway that could be a good option, with partial hookups, and options.

Hey friends, have you considered renting an RV on RV share for the glampout. They will deliver. We are renting one because ours is down. For the price of a hotel nightly will be the same as a rv rental.

Maybe check for private land/homeowners who have a place with full hookups you can rent from, my daughter and son in law full time because of his job are renting for a private residence who happens to have a full hookup spot on their property.

Hey guys….no we didn’t second guess. We never really thought about getting a drivable RV. This was really a series of unfortunate events and could have happened even if we were in a sticks & bricks. We still love our Momentum and our F350 truck.
Question, in our area there are RV campgrounds that are more focused on Contractors to long term stays in an area. Perhaps one of that kind of parks are nearby and would accommodate you guys. Since they accommodate those guys they may have a space for long term

Hey, yall. I'm not sure how it works, but I've heard you mention Harvest Host and that they let you stay for a day. Is there one that's close to you that may make an exception and let you do an extended stay? If so, maybe you can have the camper towed there, or maybe one of your friends can use their truck to pull you there? On another note, I've never known yalls age, and I must say Mr. Duane does not look 64!
Thanks a msleigh….Harvest Host usually only allow one or two night stays. We have made arrangements for somewhere to stay for a few days so I think we will be ok for right now. Yes, we both are 64.
