- How to pour wine like a pro!
Fold a napkin 4 times.
Wrap around the neck.
Twist the napkin and insert your little finger into the punt.
Tip the bottle over to pour the wine
Wipe the excess wine off and fold one end of the napkin under like this, and leave the bottle on the table

It's important to maintain proper temperature (that's why you pour wine like that, if napkin is unavailable, you use you hand and hold the bottle at the bottom to avoid heating up the wine.)
Also a wine glass serves 2 roles. It prevents heating, since you hold it by the stem. Secondary, you have to swirl the wine to aerate it, so that it releases its smell.
Basically, don't drink from the bottle. We have beer for that kind of experience.

As a wine professional, we don’t do this… it looks clumsy af. Try this with a DRC or a Mouton, your guests will take you for a total noob, for sure.

The majority of people do not work with that level of wines and this is a nice touch for 90% of waiters.
It is always up to the user to decide if it’s appropriate to pour like this.

All you’ve got here is a fancy napkin and a suit to make it look special lol and secondly when you finish pouring the wine, you should twist the bottle so that you don’t get that last drip of the wine and then you wouldn’t even need the towel to begin with

I can only share from my experience on working in Spain and London. These places where I worked had specific dress codes for waiters and required us to pour in this particular way.
Not everybody has been to these places and now that you have seen it you can adjust the work flow to suit your needs.

It's a nice method, but I have never seen true wine pros (certified sommeliers) doing this.
I learned this from a Brittish Butler and adopted the method.
During the years whoever has worked with me has also started pouring like this.
And now you can too!
