    I’m Mexican American and have been eating pho for 40+ years! If made well, It’s one of the BEST nutritious caldo’s in the world not to mention delicious. It’s all about the original bone broth.

      I need to know some good pha places in the Bay Area. Most pho’s I had, had plain tasting broth.

    I’m Vietnamese and I do like to add the hoison sauce and Siracha to my pho, AND on the side as well. Don’t forget the slices of Jalapeño an a queeze of lime!

    I have Vietnamese friends that do the sauce on the little side dish and others that put sauce directly into the soup. I don't think either way is incorrect.

    • @brucewayne3892
      @brucewayne3892 2 місяці тому

      I wouldn't go as far as to say it's incorrect. But having the sauce on the side does allow you to better taste and appreciate the broth.

      @@brucewayne3892 the sauce on the side is more of a northern thing. My family is from the south and they put it in the broth it does not matter how you eat it b

    Always ask them to steam/cook the bean sprouts first, it doesnt really cook that well in the broth. I dont like the taste of raw bean sprouts.

      I'd be too shy to ask something like that😅 Despite having a decent exposure to asian people (mainly chinese and koreans, very few vietnamese) in my childhood I still don't read their facial expressions all that well and try not to disturb them with silly requests. Good thing I like raw soy beans😂

    • @elbob17
      @elbob17 8 місяців тому

      I'd never have the audacity to ask them to do that. That's crazy. That's not how the Vietnamese joints work in my town. I'm sure they would but they're busy. That's not how it goes down.

      You dip the meat from the pho into the sauces and then eat it. Let’s you have some sauce on the meat when you want it and not on the meat when you don’t

      Slide a chopstick through the sauces and slap it on your meat while it's on your spoon

    Put black pepper into the bowl, take one or two spoons of soup first, before stirring to see how good it is and it lets you know how little of fish sauce to add. Yes, no other sauces in the bowl.

    I don't like dipping my meat in the sause cause you're just going to taste the sause alone, I like adding it to the pho it brings a great taste to my taste buzz

    Some old Viet dude taught me this and I never go back. Get a medium bowl (good for eating rice with the family size). Throw in a lil of the fatty soup from the pho, lemon or lime, and your sauce. The sauce will be thick up my the fat and make the sauce flavor more intense.

    I know people can eat their food, however, they want, and it’s not my place to knock on it at all. But thank you so much for not adding the hoisin and Sriracha into the pho 😂 This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I don’t know why perhaps it’s because I love so much just as it is it’s possibly the most perfect bowl of soup in the The world hands down

    • @PhoucMai
      @PhoucMai 8 місяців тому

      Nope…my wife’s family from the north and I’m from the south..and we eat pho the same way…
      The different is just the sauce and the stuff on the table…north doesn’t use sauce, and have less veggies, they also use garlic in their pho as well for that crunch…
      But putting sauce inside or outside just depend on ppl preference not northern or southern way…
