    Holding up great! 86000 miles no issues. I do keep my maintenance of the vehicle up to date. I use premium fuel and full synthetic oil. It has been a great vehicle

    This vehicle wasn't designed to pass the small overlap test. it was sprung on all the automakers unexpectedly. you can still recommend this vehicle.

    Finally, a real review. So many car reviews sugarcoat everything. This felt really balanced, great job. Very tempted by this model...

    Wife and I just got a 2015 Titanium 2.0. Wow, what a nice vehicle. Go the 2.0 first, 1.6 next then the 2.5 if you have to choose. Quality/fit/finish is excellent.

    I can verify that the deep impact blue is an excellent paint color. Chose the same for my 2014 SE FWD version, which had an MSRP at a much more reasonable $24.5k. I'm averaging just a hair under 24mpg in mixed driving with the 1.6L ecoboost as well. Agree on the rear seat height and space, although it does recline for decent comfort. For a versatile, fun commute that does part-time family duties, IMO an excellent choice.

    For the 2.0L Ecoboost:
    87 octane regular = 231 HP
    93 octane premium = 240 HP
    93 gives a hp gain and better performance. I love my 2.0L Titanium and it was a blast to drive with the 93 octane. Ford recommends that octane rating. But 87 regular can be used as well if people can accept the decrease in hp and performance. It will drive fine tho.

    Love the Skid Plates! Hate the blue color!
    But I agree that the wheels would be hard to clean.
    All in all this Escape has a lot of appeal.

    I was totally sold on the Escape Titanium ,,, hard serious shopping around at this time. No question I'm becoming a bit concerned about reading so many negative reviews about the Escape regarding gas mileage.
    First of all a number of negative reviews were coming from Escape SE owners, I believe those are equipped with the 1.6 Ecoboost engine.
    I know the Titanium model has the 2.0 engine so anyone who own one of these Escapes let me know what your thoughts are on the fuel mileage ,,, it sure is a great little SUV.

    I have a 2013 SEL with the 2.0 and I average 25.2 mpg. I seen 32 on highways and city i dont pay attention to. but, these past few weeks, i been averaging 25.2mpg. Thats some highway and 5 mile drive to and from work everyday in 30-40mph zones and railroad crossings and 1 traffic light. I love my escape. Same color as the one your testing.

    I really enjoy your car reviews. You're one of the best out there. I just wish you would at least when you're inside reviewing show the dash and the infotainment systems. I like that you don't go into depth and detail of them. But at least show what you're seeing. Thank you. And keep on doing your great reviews.

      if it wasn't, you'd hear about it. MyFordTouch is awful, if that's a big deal, don't buy it and get a GM or Chrysler as they are best in the business infotainment systems.

      Timothy Redd MyLink is a pretty solid system. Cadillac Cue is different but MyLink is responsive, looks modern, and doesn't glitch up. However UConnect is the best.

    • @zeal117
      @zeal117 10 років тому

      Brandon Friesen I just test drove two different GM vehicles this week with MyLink in both and it was responsive alright but a bit too much in some ways. For example I tried making it do the simple task of playing the music off of my phone via Bluetooth and it could not do it on one and the other just started "running away" with the menu options as if I was screaming "Help Menu!" four times fast. Needless to say that system is not bug free and does glitch up just as much as any other system I have come across but better than some like the one found in some late model Honda/Acura's. My Ford Touch has improved a lot with updates Ford has been dishing out and I have been told by friends that the UConnect is good.

    35k is a lot of change for a car riding on a 23k platform, which is the modern day budget oriented design for anything beyond a compact. Base level models might be okay and hold their value more, but this one being tested?

  • @TheLanard

    Most (if not all) people who shop for groceries will just continue to push their shopping cart to the car. So their arms are never full. So I feel that feature to wave your foot under the back is frilly, at best. Maybe if you're carrying a big boxed item or wood it might come in handle. But, even then you can still use a cart. Other than that, I think this is a great little SUV.

    • @chaeclark8118
      @chaeclark8118 5 років тому

      it is designed to run on 87, but they recommend 94 for towing. if you can use the best fuel you can buy but the cheap stuff will work. over time you risk carbon buildup in the intake manifold and valves but you can get that cleaned relatively cheap now too. the choice is yours

    It is clear that this person was not bribed enough to recommend the 2014 Ford Escape. The fact is for the last 4 years the escape has been the best in its class in every aspect wit the exception of the one crash test that was given to manufactures the same year the escape was redesigned. As many of you know it takes almost 5 years to plan and develop a vehicle to go on the market. So it was impossible for Ford to test for this test. However, keep in mind when they restyled the Escape in 2016 it more then passed! The other competitors did not get very good scores as well. NONE of them got 5 stars in 2014. I know Autobytel is a buying service. But, they are very well known to be bias against American Manufactures. Remember it is the best selling SUV in its class and it has a ton of competition. I think any one could recommend the Escape if they where fair!! This man is not!!! Very Bias review!!!

    I’ve had my 2014 Escape Titanium since September 2013. 18.7 MPG. Regular commuting to and from work. Can’t trust this car in long road trips. Within the 1st year, I’m on my 2nd transmission. Still jerks and shakes & the Ford mechanics still can’t fix this after all these years. Lately, I turn on the A/C and the Escape shakes like crazy. Perfect for what I want in a small SUV. BUT I wish it would run better and have better gas mileage. Ugh, my last Ford.

    This guy feels obligated to critique a car, he's wrong in many areas, I own the same car and Mr know it all finds faults that do not exist, I have 1500 miles on mine and get 24.5 city and 27-29 highway, computer mpg and filling @ pump slow fill till shut off and then do the math, same pump same hose, about 3 tenths of a mile difference.
    To make it bettr I drive the car,use the turbo, (spirited driving)
    One of the best cars on road manners I have owned, period.
    Come on dufas, loose mouths sink ships!

    If you want to keep it for 2 years tops, it's great. But my uncle bought a 2013 escape in mid 2012.. It now has 50,000 miles on it and he just got rid of it because of 14 different issues. Things like the fuel pump, bad injectors, leaking antifreeze lines, loss of power, turbo blowing etc. He has had an awful experience with Ford and he switched over to a 2015 Mazda CX-5 and already has 10,000 miles on it. I love the Escape but the Tiguan is rated more reliable and I found it more fun and had better legroom and a more peppy better sounding engine with 27mpg that I cannot dip below. I wouldn't recommend the Escape to my worst enemy

      i don't have any proof of that sir. even consumer reports only says they're issues with the 1.6 liter ecoboost. that's it. you can't judge the reliability of a car based on a few people's bad experiences. there are people who have issues with toyotas and will never buy another one.

      ***** He drives a TON. He drives 100 miles to and from work everyday of the week and every 3 weeks he's off and drives halfway across the country to his parents because they can't look after themselves like they used to. The escape did drive well. I drove it on the way to his parents and it was smooth and quiet and I got 34mpg. But there were too many issues and he got tired of having it in the shop and he had to take one of my cars so he took the Mazda. it's awesome but I like my tiguan better. I drive a lot too and I bought mine in November and it has 16,000 miles on it already.

    under 20MPG? you're driving like a fool.. even in 20* weather for two months straight, I get 23mpg on a tank, and since I got my 14' SE 4WD, i've averaged 21.9 over the course of 1970 miles... this truck will easily get 25 around town in warmer weather, and not driving like an idiot... who drives a crossover for "twisty" backroads and going fast? it's a soft review.. the car does it's job, and then some.
