Rumor has it in April 2020 that the Dometic line of fridges/freezers are now manufactured in China. Customers that have purchased these newer models report horrible reliability. Would you please kindly comment.
As far as we are aware Dometic Fridges have always been made in China, Robert. Back when they were branded as Waeco they had the Danfoss/SECOP compressor which I believe was a German manufactured component, but when the CFX range was introduced they featured their own compressor which was made in China. The quality of products that come out of China are very dependent on the quality control the manufacturer/brand have in place. A lesser known brand may be able to produce something that looks and reads much the same as a higher quality product but is put together in a less considered manner which may see it fail far quicker, despite it coming out of the same factory We always have a mix of feedback on all our products, inevitably there is always the odd fault here and there, but we have not had any consistent issues with Dometic products. ~ Ben
@sictc appreciate this info...!! I've just purchased the CFX3 45 . It's great but too small unfortunately....they will allow me to trade up for a larger version but hearing lots of both ( good and bad) reviews. Having just spent $1000 USD for the 45- im contemplating the dual zone 75-95. Any opinions on if the 75 is perfect size? Looks good ...but so does the 95, just want to return and re order this deal once and not try each size. Any help is greatly appreciated- from all...FYI my CFX-3 Dometic 45 is amazing at functionalities, just too small the way I cook and likely need a freezer-fridge ( DZ) option....im reading everything, but need to poo ull the trigger. It lives in the back of a 2020 5th Gen 4 Runner. Id go for 95, but is it way bigger? Rats!!
G'day Zach Pattison, assuming you are asking about the differences with the Dometic CFX3 75DZ, there are a few new upgrades on the DZW models. These include an improved control panel (weather protected), rugged aluminium handles (vs plastic), new lid latch that is easier to open, XOS frame (with greater edge protection), improved basket divider and LED light, and improved connectivity (new app with bluetooth, power and temp history monitoring). The 75DZ is also 3.3kg lighter. Cheers, Sonia
It makes a hum just as all fridges do. We are hoping to do a noise comparison on all the fridges, but I can't promise any timeframes on when this will happen sorry. ~ Ben
Not yet sorry, Das Boot, we're waiting on Virgin Galactic to sort out their logistics chain so we can deliver tents to campers throughout the entire universe! Until then we'll maintain our focus on fast delivery Australia wide. ~ Ben
Hi MrYeldarb666, there are four points in the base of these fridges that will accept M6 nuts. These points are used to secure the fridge to a fridge slide or in the rear of a vehicle instead of tie-down straps. They don't come with the fridge, but any standard M6 nut will fit. ~ Ben
Does the wifi broadcast all the time or can it be turned off? Can you turn the usb port off? or does usb port not consume power when not in use unlike one that plugs into house? 9amps max and 3 normally? What causes the difference? Waeco compressor or Danfoss?
You can turn the Wi-Fi off, ajriding, there are instructions in the user manual for how to do this. I think the default setting from new is for the Wi-Fi to be turned off. The USB port itself won't use power, but the device you plug into it will. If you don't have anything plugged into the USB port then there is no power consumption associated with it. The difference in power consumption is dependent on whether the compressor (which is a Waeco compressor) is running. If you have just turned your fridge on, your compressor will be running at full power (up to a maximum of 9 amps) in order to cool the fridge down. Over a full day, with the compressor cutting in and out in order to maintain the temperature setting, the usage will average out to about 3.6 amps per hour. There are a lot of variables associated with these figures such as the temperature you have your fridge set to, the ambient temperature outside of the fridge and how often you are opening the lid, but it gives you a good comparison to the performance of other fridges. I hope that all makes sense. ~ Ben
You'd need a deep cycle battery (not your starter battery) and a way to charge the battery, Ricky. You may get away with running this fridge for three days without charging in winter if you don't open it too much and keep it in the shade, but you'd likely destroy a lead acid battery and a lithium battery would be dead flat by then. You can charge the battery either from the vehicle or ideally with a solar panel. If you had a good solar panel you could pretty much set and forget as the battery would be drawn down over night then charge up during the day. Sure can, Kestutis Repsas, there are instructions in the user manual on how to do this. ~ Ben
Hi how can you change a LED lights inside as mine are half out , and not as bright ????
You may have to head in to your local authorised repairer for that one @Darren Attard, I'm pretty sure they're not user serviceable.

Hi, What would you recommend if I wanted to run this at a camp site from a 12v power supply for a 3 day holiday?
You'd need a deep cycle battery (not your starter battery) and a way to charge the battery, Ricky.
