Living on the road as a 48 state trucker can get expensive. Since I had rather cook my own meals in the truck, I needed a way to properly store my produce, dairy and meats such as steaks and chicken. This unit does a fantastic job with providing me both a refrigerator and a freezer!

Thank you for being the ONLY person to actually review this and show some food in it. Really appreciated!
Old man has more experience. I’m going to buy it.
That has to be very convenient for you.
So much better than an ice chest.
Glad to see he's back on the road agian
Yes it is expensive. In your work, you need it. I enjoy your live Road feeds. Take Care. Jim
I have a 75DZ in my truck for about a year and I love it and was money well spent.
This is perfect for BigRig Steve--hope he enjoys it. Saves lots of $$, and he cooks for himself. Steve is a nice guy--very hardworking & genuine. Love his LIVE travels. Best to him..
Very nice ! Thanks for showing it to us.
This is a truly well made video. A story from a real person telling us the reality of the experience. Awesome!
Living like a KING 👑 in that BigRig Steve! 👏
App controlled & chocolate mint ice cream - genius!
You will make a perfect salesman for this freezer.
Great info on the dometic frig freezer 👍
Yes!!! Steve should go on QVC. 🤣🤣 Love it
Great review Steve! Being a new trucker myself, I wanted to avoid fast food and truck stop foods and only cook my own foods. It seems like this fridge is well worth the investment in the long run.
Right on. it definitely is
That is a cool little thing there Steve thanks for sharing with us.
Excellent review.
Glad to find you. Very nice review and care for the ice cream. 😎
You needed it BigRig! ❤️
Well done video with very good information and finally someone showing the amount of food storage. Thank you. Be safe.
Looks like he doubled down with a vacuseal.
Nice I love the freezer
Great video sir! I'm considering Trucking and always do research of how to live well on the road. Thanks!
Hey Steve great review I are living in Sweden but no knowledge of it, and thanks for many good videos!
My Uncle Boo was a truck driver and you remind me of him. Thank You for the content.
Great review, a big expense but worth it if it lasts
Hello Steve, that is a very nice freezer
Great review, might get one similar soon as switching to another company their trucks don’t have fridges but the pays good so this will make it much easier.
I bought a Dometic 55IM. I use it exclusively as a freezer.
I removed the passenger seat to fit it. My truck has a TriPac. I've never shut it off since I've had it. I have a Dometic refrigerator that I never shut off either. I put a 3500 watt inverter in to run my other appliances. Makes life very nice.
Nice review of the fridge good detail thanks
Thank you! Love your channel - Godspeed 🙏☺
Great review first I heard of this. Very interesting. Thanks, Steve. Keep up the reviews.
Hey Steve That Is Awesome
That is a awesome freezer 👍🏾😃
Hey, Steve. Nice review.
good review
Steve have perfect freezer and Dometic have perfect commercial from Steve:) Win-win👍 btw Dometic is company from Sweden. There are just high quality products from Sweden i think;)
mine says made in china , also I am on my second one, first would not work at all, control panel would not light up when pressing the on/off button. they sent me a new one and that one turns on with 110v, not with 12v... multi metered the 12v power supply cord and there is 13.9v . I am not so happy about this, as I wanted to use 12v and not run my inverter 24/7.
jack sun did you ever get this taken cAre off? Dometic has a great warranty. Pls let me know. They been made in China for a while.
Helpful video.
Sounds good Steve, I have subscribed to your channel and enjoy riding with you thru the states, nice rig.
Take care enjoyed your video.
Wow Steve that awesome I never seen before I hope you have safe trip to Utah I am on your side have a nice day Steve from Christopher Hill Tarpon Springs Florida
Hello Christopher 🖐
@@ciprianseni3576 Hi from Christopher Hill have a great night 🌃
Good Morning Steve from Washington Court House,Ohio.
This was so useful and convincing for someone who's on a hunt for a RV and do not want a fridge aiming toward a budget where I can afford an RV. It seems to have more storage than a RV fridge!
Very nice! Thank You for sharing your the best Steve:)☮
Hello Florence
@@ciprianseni3576 hello:)
Nice!
Wow wish I had that when I was on the road . Started in 83 so yeah it was an ice chest with a hose i could run out the passenger door to drain off . Always buying ice . Igloo coolers , started buying them at wally world in the end . Still got one around some where lol . Stopped driving in 2016 for health reasons legs quit on me . When I ran for NCI Elite fleet I used to buy what ever cuts I wanted from the NBP who owned us they would give us what ever cuts we wanted and how ever much we wanted and I could have them deduct it from my pay . Now I am going to look up your video on how you are vacuum sealing your food . Thanks for showing this and I hope you don't mind another old trucker riding along with you on your runs . Be safe .
Great video. Hope you do more featuring various other aspects and items related to your work and travels.
Great Cooler
😁👍Steve. you are every bit as I imagined you to be.great video,I think we could definitely party on the food stock that you have there lol ! Very best wishes and respect to you.
Great video Steve, I enjoyed it, very informative & like everything you put time into, first rate. Safe travels.
Hello Frank Toko 🖐🖐
Smart fridge.
Nice
It cost money. It cost money because it saves money!
Thanks Steve. This was a very informative video. Looks like a quality product. Keep on truckin and drive safe.
That’s so cool
At least you can write it off on your taxes for business use!! Tighten down those straps tight Steve for your safety! Happy trails!
Great review Steve.
Hello dactyl65 🖐😃
Sweet...
Yeah, my blood sugars are high, and I can't be eating that truck stop garbage. Luckily, I enjoy cooking and just bought on of these myself. Plugged it in last night, and it had shut off in the morning. Don't know if my truck just has old batteries or if I'm doing something wrong. It's a 2020 Cascadia.
I've had it with dorm room refrigerators from Walmart!
I'm going that route but I'm going to get two 50 quarts therefore you get complete 50 quarts of room in each 😄👍
Funny how these (portable fridge/freezers) don't appear that popular in the US. They are very popular in Australia, especially with campers/caravaners, and have been around for decades.
They are popular with the overlanding crowd in the USA. We just don’t make too much noise about it.
WOW 1235 $ . Big Price ;-)
Well, that is dandy
Thanks for the video. Sounds like you are extremely pleased with Dometic. I have the same unit on its way to me. Yes, quite a price tag but is quality and well made. Will be using mine for mine for my overlanding trips across remote areas around the world. Be safe! Did you ever post your vid about how you cook, freeze and vacuum seal your meals? Sub’d.
I've had my Coleman chiller for over 20 years it's never froze anything. It gets down to 35deg which is great for keeping milk fresh. I also have a 31qt iceco cooler that I use as a freezer. But unlike you I'm lazy I take frozen dinners pizzas and hot pockets. The Colman I'll never stop using because it's so cheap to repair. I also upgraded it from a 55watt peltier to a 90watt. Now it gets down to temp in a few hours when before it took overnight. I don't have a need for this but you can easily and for cheap add a temp control to the Colman.
Thanks for this video😊 where's your fruits and vegetables?
Nice fridge Steve. Is it noisy? Where do you buy your food?
Steve get some chocolate chip cream
Hi i am new to the industry. does the truck company allows this mini freezer?
Also, have you tried out Zero Breeze Mk II during hot summer?
Does he use a hot plate
Did you get to write it off your taxes as an appliance?
You still gonna make that video?
Steve can the cooler be used upright like a refrigerator or standing on its side, possibly removing one handle to rest on solid flat surface? Great video btw
i suppose you could, but i think you would cut the storage capacity way down
@@BigRigTravels I appreciate the come back.
How do you tie it down to keep it staple
Do you still have this? Have you had any problems? Would be nice if i could get a response from anyone who’s had this for a while..
Yust look at the Dutch Amazon side, and the ask nearly € 1300 for your Dometic cooler
Heyy Mr Steve i got my own Dometic but I’m using the 2000wat inverter and it’s just shut down after couple hrs or sometime a day pass why is that ? and also I always put it on back pls any help
The only problem with those Igloo and Coleman coolers is you have to make sure that you keep the fan area clean. I'm guessing that refrigerator cost about a thousand dollars, yes it's nice, but there's much less expensive alternatives when it comes to keeping your food cold. I've had a Coleman electric cooler for almost 8 years.
True, but i have dual zones and can freeze to negative 8. No thermoelectric is going to do that. Also, at -8f it still holds frozen food for 2.5 days
Absolutely, but I'm talking to the drivers that are just getting started that don't have that much money to spend.
😂
Now buy yourself a Zojirushi Electric Skillet from Amazon and cook your veggies and chicken. An electric kettle for oatmeal breakfast. A 5gallon water cooler jug on the passenger floor with a hand pump for your water for cleaning drinking etc. Having that freezer makes healthy food choices more doable but then again you look like a naturally skinny guy.
Do you have a microwave or small oven in the truck??
How long will it last if used all day everyday?
Does it still work 5 years later?
got it in November 2018. runs continuously and still going strong!
@@BigRigTravels awesome! I just moved on the iceco 95, only because I called domestic and they said they were not going to manufacture the dual zones any more.
Can it fit under the bottom bunk in the liftup area? I'm in a Kenworth and need a decent fridge.
No...It's way to big.
LOL... I'll I've been seeing is you eat Cheetos...lol. Where do you cook all that stuff? you have a portable BBQ? and does it not save time while traveling? Just curious
I have 2 rice cookers, toaster oven, 2 George Foreman grills...so yes, I can heat things up nicely
Do you feel this size is enough to hold you over for a few weeks out on the road?
Yes. I fill it with everything I need and usually lasts about 8 weeks when combined with non meats such as rice, soups, veggies, mac and cheese, etc. I don't have to have a big steak every night. Under the bunk, in cabinets, top of bunk in containers, yes, I literally could eat just fine for several months with ease.
@@BigRigTravels fantastic. This is exactly what I'm looking for. I have a small OEM fridge in my 2016 t680, but it's not big enough to sustain long tours on the road. I have to go shopping every 3 or 4 days with my little fridge. I appreciate you doing this review and getting back to me on this comment. See you out there on the road brother!
I actually start out using both sections as a freezer at -8f and putting regular refrigerator stuff in the built in fridge so I have tons of frozen foods. Then as the frozen stuff dwindles down, I use the other half as the fridge. You can adjust both sections at any temperature you want. Both freezer, both fridge, or one of each!
Does the fan on this unit constantly run?
no, only while cooling
Thanks!
Hill Billy
How come you got so much food for yourself alone ? Lol .BTW, you have my fav flavor of ice cream. Agree with you, it's worthy !! Thank you for sharing.
