You don't see the huge goody bag that the NK got for this show of 'compassion'
America always mingling in other country's territory. We are the enemies.
@@MrHanad Welcome to whats called a no-fly list.

Omg this was such a funny comment as its so true . Had me laughing out loud
Before exiting the country. Go thru the duty free store. Every tourist thingy.
Filled with coupons and punch cards(buy 9 glasses of water and get the 10th one for free).

Looks like he got some souvenirs from his visit lol
yeee
Just some essentials, toothbrush, razor, soap...
Gotta make it look good for the cameras and such, to make the Dee-perks look like he was well treated. You know damn well he was "interrogated" quite throughoughly.
@@ronaldrobertson2332 And medals...
Some bottles from duty-free shop.
Probably anti american propaganda im willing to bet
Hope that the bag had some souvenirs, rather than some of his teeth.
North Koreans gave him Pyongyang porn movies.
Slapshock Redeemer fr?
CVR and cassette of anal torture
At least they were nice enough to give him a souvenir from North Korea pretty odd but delightful
I flew Huey's in South Korea for Med Evac 121st Evac Hosp. We made flights to the DMZ and it can be a challenge in bad weather. We had beacons to guide us but North Korean infiltrators would move or destroy them sometimes. On night flights it could get scary at times. I was there from 1974 to 76.
One pilot ? He went over there in mission ? Give kim bags of money .
As an infantryman serving in the 2nd Infantry division, I was ordered to board some helicopters (Note: never the same one, very suspicious) and unwittingly be conveyed about by a pair of gentleman and sometimes ladies. They would often wear night vision goggles which would prompt the crew to frequently swear and say things like "can't see shit" and "where the hell is that becon??" and "oh my God! can you smell the paddies on these dudes!?" Seriously though. Good job not plowing us into those mountains or dropping us in Pyongyang guys. I appreciated your work ethic.
My dad was a medvac pilot and he was there in 97-98, our entire family was supposed to go live over there but they ended up moving his unit to the base right by the dmz so my step mom myself and brother had to stay in Alabama
Man walked out with a goodie bag LMFAO
Tobias 😂😂
I was in the Army stationed in South Korea when this incident occurred. What a trip down memory lane. I really miss those BDUs.
It's a crying shame how Otto wambier came back from being detained from n.korea on a stretcher in a coma
It's stupid going there and doing even more stupid thing.
Norm. Panganiban his own fault, shouldnt have gone there and then do stupid things. Karma always hits you back
Otto was a little bitch brat, and his little punk ass got what he deserved, tempting fate
Otto Wambier deserved it. He should just have followed the law and he would have been fine.
Norm. Panganiban A thick book 📚 and hit by a hammer 🔨

how good it is that the soldier will return home...
all:
oh, what a cute little bag of gifts he was given with him...
That’s just his stuff he crashed with
“Alright Kid Let’s Get you Home”(2:09)
The difference between us and them is the pilot got to keep his goodie bag....N.Koea told the 3 fisherman to leave the bags at the border 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What a wacko, if I visit North Korea I’m not going without B-52s, B-1s ICBMs, Abram tanks, name it, NOT going alone 😁😁😁
Cool, they gave him a gift bag.
did they torture you?? yes !! they dont have even a cup of coffeee ..image the food
He got a parfum Eau de Kim Jong
Wait so does the DPRK have a US helicopter
AP: please put the date in. This is from 12/30/1994.
Long time ago when Bill Clinton was the president and Internet was just starting to be commercialized.
There was Internet long before that but it was primary used by institution/colleges and very few companies.
They gave him a gift bag, how nice. He must've been a tourist!
How did he end up in north korea ? Was he shot down or crashed ?
He look unhappy how’s did he end up in other side ??
Which year was this?
Can someone explain why was he in NK in the first place..?
haw many bags of rice
SPY
that's literally harrison ford y'all. He's probably infiltrating their base or smth and got caught xD
1:10 what’s in the goodie
bag ???
Why us pilot in north korea?
Why was an American Pilot flying over N Korea... that’s what I wanna know. I would not have returned him if I were them.
mickey rat he wasn’t
He probably ejected over the border
Shit happens and this is your response when you don't even know the history. You ever got lost driving.
Hey Mikey, you are such a RAT
Derek Munro was he “lost”...
Why can't I find anymore information about this incident
There are news articles online from the time.www.nknews.org/2012/12/the-day-north-korea-downed-a-u-s-helicopter-on-the-dmz/
Probably just a bunch of empty boxes. lol

@heath cold yes with Tupperware on it
Well can't relate cuz I didn't messed up in school and got detentions
3:04 world of uniform
lol
nice he got a present for visit nord korea
Oddly enough, that's actually a "Christmas bag" that was provided to him by N. Korean adversaries. Even though N. Korea frowns upon Western culture and Christianity.
Admiral - Airsoft A
Christmas is not even a Christian invention.
Nichtzukennen What are you talking about? Christmas is a Christian religious holiday, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. You can't "invent" an event. The celebration was certainly started by Christians.
AmnScottNN He's right, Christmas was actually not started by Christians but by Latin Romans.
It was a period called as "Saturnals", celebrating the God Saturn.
Also the Christian Religion took 90% of its base from already existing religions, like little pieces from every religion and formed this great religion we today know as Christianity.
I was stationed in South Korea from Jan 1994 to Jan 1995. I remember this event. Mission was a reconnaissance flight . The pilot got off course. North Korea shot them down without warning. The co pilot was killed the pilot taken prisoner for a month. Situation was tense. The North Koreans rummaged the shot up helicopter. The bag the pilot was carrying was a personal hygiene bag that is given to POWs. We were on alert and deployed to our staging areas to move if more hostilities were imminent. Only the ignorant here talk without being there 27 years ago
So everyone who wasn't there are ignorant just for talking about it? Does that mean everyone talking about new bad things happening in the world on the news are also ignorant?
TekMan, Hall was held for 13 days, if you want to be technical about it.
Fwiw ~ for the most part ~ folks mean well when conveying history. No need for assuming otherwise, bro.
I find it strange that the pilot goes off course, what sort of guidance system did the chopper have? How could it be possible for that to happen? Did N.K. have some tech that caused the navigation system on the chopper to go awry on purpose? Makes me wonder.
@@TheYizumanmy uncle, David Hilemon, was the co-pilot who died. Bobby Hall was told to show David the area but they were denied a GPS and accidentally drifted into NK.
@@alexmaej I am so sorry for your loss. Any reason why they were denied a GPS? There was none on onboard the chopper? Pretty confusing. The GPS would surely have saved them if they had one.
North Korean officer with the glasses has been there for nearly 30 years
He must be really really good then, considering he’s not dead due to trust reasons or malnourishment
He is the Trusted one !!!!!!
really?? wow,, exteremly professional ...............
Did he get shot down? Or was he on a charity mission? Nice that he got “thank you for visiting North Korea” touristy gift bag.
He didn't get shot down he was visiting the North Korea gift shop
@@gtfanatic lmao
@@gtfanatic why they arrested him for visiting gift shop? I dont find any rule breaking in it !
Muhammad Usama Americans are not allowed in North Korea so that might be why but still doesn't explain why he got in the country
Muhammad Usama well we are showing our Muscles in the middle east because we are trying to stop terrorism and we put our foot down on north Korea so many times
I love the way the older senior officers immediately comforted him, from what would have been a really scary experience.
The goodie bag probably contains a book of autographed pictures of the "Great Leader" and a reminder to always fasten your seat belt when getting shot down!
The freedman gains as a gift the distrust of his superiors, they are questioned exhaustively, and he will never again be given something Top Secret to work with.
Nonsense post. The pilot was promoted and given serval medals. They know what happened in this case. His aircraft went down a day after the Norths Korean infiltrators went across the DMZ destroyed the beacons that are there to make sure UN aircraft do not stray into the wrong airspace.
1:09. At least they gave him a goodie bag when he was released
Yes .. of course.. very important in Asia..
@Krabby Krab really or a jokey
@Krabby Krab i see lmao
You know once Americans got him back they did a bunch of evaluations and medical tests to see if he was harmed and treated ill over there. Then probably debriefed him and asked him alot of questions.
Well, yeah.
😶
@@mortalclown3812 literally was going to type the exact same thing 😂
And????
I was station there in 1985-86.
I was assigned to the 802 Engineer at Camp Humphrey . I was a SSG .
He probably feels like he is a burden to his nation.
Nah. Americans fight and die for one another. If a country has an American they will find a way to bring them back to American clay
@@devioustea im saying he probably feels like a burden to his nation because he deserted his post and now the government has to pay for him.
@@hanzgotzepanzerfaust6081 what exactly happen why he was on the north territory?
2:08 After the exchange protocol charade the NCOs take over to do the real work of getting this pilot repatriated.
Yeap. Always a chump to do the dirty work. Give people a job title and a little authority and they'll do about anything.
The officers sit back in the lounge and laugh.
I really want to know what's in that bag? I hope that it was a snow globe or some stupid shit like that.
0:30
He looks like Harrison Ford from that distance.
Ya 😂
Yeah. During Harrison Ford younger day
I remember when this happened. I think about 30 years ago and I also think his copilot was killed. He said he argued profusely with the North Koreans when they made him sign a confession of spying but he got so sick of being there and arguing with them that he decided to sign it anyway. He also said the North Koreans gave him lots of apples to eat.
And worst for him, he got questioned and interrogated for a good amount of time right after this
He was debriefed after a medical exam. They would first want evidence of malnutrition or torture.
Usual procedure, pretty sure they have to do a psych eval too
I think that's the first time I've seen NK military personnel walk normal, unlike the usual robotic & in perfect sequence.
Is like when you go to the house of your friend and you parents go to take you
inside the bag is iphone
The pilot walks out n.korea but otto wambeir leaves n.korea on a stretcher brain dead 🤔🤔🤔🤔
This happened 25 years ago.... Wtf
Why they arrested him? Was he shot down?
@@Expat_Saraiki no he was a tourist and accidentally forgot to switch his clothes before he boarded the plane
@@ender10man ohh thats sad !😂
GPS in 94 was shit. His co-pilot died after they were shot down by a missile after entering DPRK airspace due to a navigation error .. He had to sign a confession to get released . The good that came out was that all aircraft in the area got new navigation equipment.
3:05 lol there is a Polish solider didn't know that they were stationed in South Korea
i think there are also swedish
There's a bunch of different countries operating under the UN flag there. I want to say the UN members each provides X # of armed forces members for their missions they do worldwide. Some countries provide more for income or other reasons. Some may just provide services vs on the ground things
North Korea has been isolated for a very long time. No money in the world can pay me to go there. I have got to be crazy just to think of doing it.
They have some beautiful undeveloped forests and mountains. I'd love to see the vast areas of wilderness there.
@@adamhayes5349 Graves for the countless slaughtered and ones who died of famine.

They smashed his ass maybe!
Who's watching here during the quarantine? LOL
They gave him a gift bag? Lol
All the old articles are behind a paywall what happened to him after he got back? Was his career over?
There is a difference here. The pilot accidentally crossed North Korean Airspace and had no intention to defect while a few days ago, a deranged soldier willingly defected to the North. Just leave him there. He made that choice.

They gave him a lovely parting gift.
To remember NORTH KOREA. Whatever! They already smashed his ass that he wont forget ever
Maybe if America were not there, this would never have happened. Glad to see the DMZ is now patrolled by Koreans only.
USA troops have declined in the south by thousands, not before time. Let the Koreans work thing's out, go home USA.
Your presence just makes the situation worse, the Korean Peninsular is Korean, its not the 51st state.
A gift bag of Soju does not make things right. Happy ending for the pilot, so that`s good.
