all these years of ignoring this method, never thought this would be the key for my brain of understanding gesture and figure drawing uggh! more fluidly and accurate (tho the knowledge of muscle and anatomy helps a ton!). Its just that using squares as guidelines makes me unable to see the whole figure. We really do have unique ways of learning & understanding.
I love when there's a perfectly drawn torso. The muscles and volume are so on point and nice to look at. It's like a life-size statue. Fantastic work. 👌
All my life I'd always spend 20 minutes figuring out how to make the ribcage have a cohesive connection to the waist and this just helped me alot. My style is chibi style but with a hint of basic anatomy and this helps me make more dynamic poses. Always loved your channel. Thanks!! 💕💕💕🌝
I have studied how to draw/sketch the beans but I've realized that I didn't learn how to use it for what I want to use the method for! Luckily I've found this channel to help me with the issue plus learning how to draw female anatomy! Especially for comics! 👍🏾
Nice method, very easy to comprehend, it helped me a lot when I started drawing bodies, a year ago. I made some impressives improvements (for me) very quickly thanks to that method. I think I'll take the course, it may be just what I need right now, and you are a good teacher, I can't go wrong :)
Thank you very much for the awesome comment! I hope you find the course to be very helpful. I will do my very best to pack it with lots of information. More on the way soon! 😊🙌
i fucking kneel, this helped so much. My brain just couldn't wrap around the connection between the rib cage and waist, but this method helped so much. ill definetly subscribe.
This bean shape is a great tutorial. I think I might end up picking up this course. Very cool! Looking forward to picking up the course and following through the lessons. If anyone wants a further explanation of this method, Proko breaks it down and explains it in far more detail.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy the content. I will be adding a lot to this course over the next few weeks. I agree, Proko has some awesome content and well worth the time to watch!
I've known about beans for torsos for a long time, but only seen it in reference to animation and stylized character designs. And in those instances they didn't really use the bean as a guide, but for the whole complete torso. So seeing it in this context helps a ton! I finally know how to properly apply this technique. Thank you for the awesome video, so much great advice!
I love this tutorial! I just realized that we have pretty similar ways of sketching the ribcape, the abs and the pelvis but I just discovered the bean method. Thank you so much for this!
YESSSSSSSSSS THANKS SO MUCHHH trying to represent the body as the shape of the hip and a shape of the ribcage just didnt click with me at all, but this flour sack method is sooooo much better for me!! god thank you so muchhhh
@@RobertMarzullo You're very gracious. I am not sure why someone would watch your video on a subject and then direct someone to another's videos. Seems a bit off. Just my opinion. Like your videos a great deal.
This is a great video. I have been working on figures for what seems to be many many months. I can draw them however they are straight stiff figures. I came across this video & finally something that clicks. I will work on the torso alone for now. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & talents!
Really helpful! Thanks for this- the bean shape definitely helps me to visualise the figure in motion. I also love the way you link the delts to the torso then fit the arm in under it- looks spot-on -so useful! Cheers!👍
What a great tutorial. There are tutorials and books out there tell you the names of bones and muscles, but, after learning them, I still cannot draw a good figure. This "bean" method is just like "loomis" method in head drawing, giving me a general way of learning present figures and constructing my own character figures. I am joining the udemy right away. Big Thanks.
of all the methods to draw the torso this is my favorite. its not perfect and needs work, there is a sense of illusion that the mind plays a trick on you dont knwothe anatomy of the torso
I must say really good but about halfway through i was getting confused due to the fact jupiter and neptune were blocking my view, is there a way to fix this?
I’ve been practicing head angling, so when I tried this, it worked out a little (I need to figure out how to do super basic shoulders, but I’m learning anatomy details from the head down, so I’ll more focus on the torso for now), but when I make the shape, I notice that I can’t visualize the entire thing. Like when I first did it, I only drew the details as if it were the front of it. I had the angle I wanted right, but couldn’t get the side correct until after I started drawing the details on the front.
