I do both, as everyone should

No other artist on the Tube is as generous with their knowledge as Finch. That all of this isn’t buried behind a pay wall is incredible. Take full advantage of it kids.
He’s truly a SUPERHERO
I don't want knowledge, I want practical 😂 you admire this fast forwarded video just look out for other paid courses online, he doesn't give a shit in front of them like I had to struggle by copying him but anyway the course I bought told me to learn anatomy of body by copying my assignment and for the easiest other course I had no money
Absolutely not true
@@spoofyguy5412 get better bucko
@spoofyguy5412 I'm confused about what you mean ( I mean no disrespect, I just want to know what you're talking about)
I've watched this 6 times in the last few days. Its really helping me with my comfort for drawing torsos.
WOW! I was struggling with male torso's right before this came out. Its like you could read our minds!
YES, i have been waiting for this, all my drawings look weird because the torso isnt as anatomically correct as the limbs
Tutorials don't exactly help, you just have a bad understanding of anatomy. Just because you know how to copy what he does doesn't mean you understand anything.
@@johnnylee5226 anatomy pictures and lessons confuse me and these tutorials help me out a lot so for right now I depend on these but later on I wont depend on them
@@somethinssketchy2117 I didn't word what I said right, tutorials help but not all of them, they don't really teach structure or different ways to draw something, if you're like me and your eye is more advanced than your hand tutorials will help a ton but if both are sub par or your hand is better than your eye then you've got a bit of a problem. I cant exactly explain everything I said in detail but I hope you got at least a little bit of what I said. Also I get wym.
@@johnnylee5226 ye I understand what you mean
Honestly I learned how to draw the body from watching different youtube tutorials. I would get a piece of paper and pencil and follow along. When it came to then creating my own poses or characters all the knowledge I used on drawing bodies helped me so much. Before I couldn't construct anything and when I would copy from a random picture it never really looked right, so for me personally tutorials were one of the best things I could do for myself as it was like having your own personal teacher/tutor. So don't mind Johnny Lee, just because it doesn't work for him doesn't mean it won't work for you.
Yaaaaaah, This is what I'm waiting for, because I'm confused to draw the back torso 👍
Me too
Same
Don’t make in that complicated
Just want to say a huge thank you for your tutorials. I started learning to draw as a way through lockdown etc, and the biggest improvements I've made this year have all been down to your tutorials. I am very grateful to you :)
There's something comforting about seeing a Master do so many lines.
I cannot relate with single stroke artists (as impressive as it is, no shade)
it's just a joy to see how David breaks down the back anatomy, i was drilling through the bridgman book just for that. And this video is a perfect example
It's good when a person find someone that can teach they a way that they can understand,I'm glad to find u😉👍
Can't wait to watch this! I've been waiting for this tutorial for a while, so I'm glad you finally had time to do it. I think the torso has to be one of my favorite parts of the figure to draw.

Absolutely fantastic! So many pearls of wisdom dropped here. I will return to this video many times to soak it all in. I am definitely going to change my approach to some of the areas I was having difficulty with. Thanks Dave!

Wonderful class, but there was no step by step of the torso seen from the front, the explanation of the ABS, how to draw them ... I would like to propose a second video, a continuation! Congratulations on your work! God keep blessing you!
I think this is meant more as a tips tutorial for ppl who already know (somewhat) the general anatomy / how to draw the torso. If ur looking for a more in-depth step-by-step tutorial I'd recommend watching Proko's anatomy course
These aren't beginner tip videos. Or at the very least the video was made with the idea you had some familiarity with anatomy. If these videos are hard to follow you should study anatomy.
@@33korki77 While that is true just saying study anatomy is the same as saying just practice it's an extremely broad term
@@hiimhunter7649 fair enough. Ill categorize the basics of what you should be learning for anatomy. 1. Torso front back and sides. 2. Arms. 3. Legs. Start with the torso and then do whichever you prefer first. You should get pinterest to find all kinds of reference material. Reference material is the backbone for anatomy because you cant draw something you've never tried to see and understand before. You wont be able to make a character anatomically correct without the skeleton. The skeleton is relatively easy to learn so you should get down the skeletal proportions and make the main parts basic shapes. Like the ribcage would be an egg. The hips would be a wide bucket or rectangle. And the legs and arms would be straight cylinders. You will see this when looking at the skeleton from different angles. For the torso the easiest to study is the front since it consists of only a few basic muscle groups. You should learn about the boney landmarks of the body as they give you an indication of where muscles go even in perspective. There is so much more important specifics i can get into it wouldn't fit in these comments but thats just off the top of my head.
@@hiimhunter7649 if you have the art fundamentals understood and practiced I suggest looking for an anatomy course by proko. Its a Playlist on UA-cam thats gonna be your best bet for truly learning anatomy for free. Im currently about halfway through the course. Im finalizing my understanding of all the important torso muscles and bones for the male and female. This course can be tricky but if you treat it like an actual art class and have some good freeloading skills you can get alot out of these videos without premium.
I've watched this video 3000 times in a row and I'm still learning things about the male torso
I didn't like using stick figures to draw anatomy. Your video is super helpful! Thank you!
I love you so much I want to cry. There are so many like trending and TikTok celebrity art tutorial people now but none of them come close to the info and lessons you provide. Please keep making videos!
Until I manage to improve my anatomy most of the characters I draw, tend to skip leg and back days at the gym. :S
Same bro mine be looking like malnourished fuckin aliens or something but NEVER how I want them to look like
Mine just look like an Couch kid
Just make it a part of their BACKstory (get it) and call it a day

I am a returning artist after many years break and feel blessed to have found David. His clear, insightful tuition and nice guy vibe has given me a real push to practice. Thank you very much.
I truly don’t know how i could ever thank you for such a great tutorial, I’ve struggled much with torsos and you solved all my problems justice always xD
This is a good video for someone at the intermediate/advanced level of figure drawing. However, if you're a beginner this video probably gonna give you a mental breakdown so if you're a beginner I suggest checking another video, try draw torso, and comeback to this video cause I've been through that too.
Dude you been a god send, to get someone of your experience and caliber sharing information like this is invaluable.
What a kind heart to share such a beautiful lesson . Thank you for helping us.

God bless you Mr. Finch for your continues efforts in teaching us.. this is GOLD
This is EPIC david finch is the best teacher ever that is my favorite turtorial ever
Hi David, your art is amazing. And thanks for all your tutorials. They have been a big help for myself. Even though I'm an "older artist" at 42, I'm not trying to make a career out of my drawings. I already have a stable career. I like to draw for the sake of drawing. It's a relaxing process. But it can be VERY frustrating as well. I have one big request. If you can do a tutorial on faces. Not just close up, or on big pictures. But in small areas, and already attached to a figure. Every face I draw, ends up looking the same, because There is almost no room for detail. I think a tutorial on this would really improve my work. Thanks.
my mind was blown with the stomach muscle trick at the end.
Riiight
Is it me, or David can read my mind, I was doing a Batman drawing and this came up in time cause the torso was difficult, this man is the best
You helped me so much with drawing I don't know how could ever repay you back and keep up the good work
This has probably been the most helpful tutorial video you have made so far (at least for me that is). Thank you for all you do for the drawing community.

I just finished the first draw through Bridgman but after seeing how you break down the shading I think I have to start all over again because I did it wrong. I guess its part of the journey. Thank you so much your videos and tips really help see you next Monday
This is probably the most helpful anatomy video I've watched. Thank you so much ^-^
This channel is gold, thank you so much for making these videos! I personally have trouble drawing some of the joints: elbows, knees and ankles specially. I'm shooting video references and I studied the anatomy but I still can't get to understand them clearly. I would find really helpful if you could make a video on this.
