Every time I hear this I feel it in my spine. It starts in the center and radiates out to my extremities. My whole body gets covered in goosebumps. I have no idea why but I do know that this will be played at my funeral on a finely tuned sound system and when the bass drums hit I want the rafters to shake!!! VICTORY!!!!'
Yeah, bring England back under Roman Catholic rule and outlaw people from owning and reading the Bible. Is that what you want? That's what Guy Fawkes wanted. Beware of God Almighty. *Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.* Romans 11:22
Thanks so much for posting a full version with high quality sound! I love this from its very serene beginning to the powerful ending. Muti is a master conductor. (P.S. I still think of Quaker Puffed Rice whenever I hear this!)
Hey guys, V for Vendetta was pretty cool, but those scenes are attributed to Tchaikovsky's genius. Check out some his other beautiful and awesome compositions (Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Symphony no.5 etc). Tchaikovsky is epic!
man this brings me back to music class in school where Romeo and Juilet would be blasting at full volume while the teacher was shouting over it trying to explain what was going on...very dramatic class...hard to drift to sleep in unlike other classes....

Don't be a music snob. It shouldn't matter how people first heard it, they wanted to hear it again because it obviously left an impression the first time.
It is to Madame Justice that I dedicate this concerto. In honor of the holiday that she seems to have taken from these parts, and in recognition of the impostor that stands in her stead...
Maybe not, but there can certainly be beauty, even if tragic, in the spoils of it. Such as this case. Tchaikovsky won the 1812 because amidst the slaughter, he was the one to make it into beautiful music, even if long afterwards.
I thought that the whole point of the movie is there were no good guys at all. And that 'terrorists' don't have to be people insisting of destruction for their own beliefs- and that we can just as easily elect them to govern us. Furthermore, at what point does someone become a man who is trying to, admittedly dramatically, change things for the better cross the line and become a 'terrorist'?
This overture celebrates the tradition, the permanence of values of cristianity over agnostic temptation. the triumph of christianity over freemasonry. The God's voice represented by Bells and the music of god saves de czar as military fanfarre.
"Es demasiado fuerte y ruidosa, la escribí sin ninguna gota de cariño ni amor, por lo tanto no tendrá ningún mérito artístico" -Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky

@Sasha009000 I totally agree. Tchaikovsky is one of my favorite composers who gave us many masterpieces. I think he would approve of this performance.

Just like as I would love to Brazil have our Emperor back to the throne =\ Long live to Monarchy, I hope to change that here someday ;D
Ahhh, Boccaccio (& you too, Pyotr), it's now up to 14... Forgive them. They know not what they do
Make sure that while this is playing at my funeral, that everything gets blown up like in V for Vendetta. I want the funeral of Edmond Antes
"The only winner in the 1812 war, was Tchaikovsky." love that line.
