You're not just an ambassador for the amazing Thai food culture but an ambassador to the whole world and all the wonderful cultures you have brought to light just by simply sharing your food adventures. Thank you, Mark. Mahalo 🤙🏽
Love how communities make use of their local resources and make delicious unique food, wonderful food traditions. And the mini dessert cakes are airy without any leavening, incredible.
I am from Bangladesh. Was watching this video with my mom and she said the recipe for the Palm cake made in the video is almost exactly the same as we do. We just don't add coconut milk, instead we just add little coconut pieces in the cakes. She got very happy seeing this video.. in fact, my father just had someone made these cakes for him because he likes them so much.
Hey Mark mate I literally just released a video making and eating the Khanom Tan in rural Thailand then I see you uploaded this the day before! Very special stuff ain't it! 🇹🇭
The first restaurant has been my family’s go to restaurant for years whenever we go to Petchburi!! Their sauce isn’t too sweet at all and really elevates the dish. And I need to visit that last restaurant!! Thank you for your recommendation Mark!
Man, I had these palm fruit desserts in Thailand and they were awesome! I didn't know it was such a long process to make them, now I can appreciate it even more.
Capuncha for the great video 🙏 Each region represents its own unique heritage - good opportunity to introduce with local traditional dishes. All food full of fibers, natual ingridience - well balanced with natural flavours, dedication and love ❤🫕🙏
I remember when I was young. People in rural area always said that they didn't need to go to the market at all. Vegetables were everywhere around the house and rice fields. Palm fruit was one of them. I had seen them went in their garden for the herbs including lemon grass and add vegetables that they collected around the house in the area. Everything was freshly made for their family every meals. They mainly ate fish which they could find in rice field or stream around their house. They always said:" there is water, there is fish.".
Another awesome food adventure, the absolute legend of Food Travel vloggers. Cheers Mark for the inspiration to create Drew's Travels, documenting life in the lesser explored areas of the Philippines.
We use the entire palm tree in Myanmar and make products very similar to Thailand. We baked the palm tree roots, make alcohol and sweet juice out of it and eat flesh and even use the leaves and stems to build houses. I hope more people will come to Myanmar and embrace our beautiful culture, but making a curry is so unique. I have never thought about it. Thanks Mark for showing the world what an authentic thai cusine is.
Ummm from one Burmese to another. I hope Mark never go back to Burma. And did you say embrace beautiful Burmese culture? Like racist? Sexist? Homophobic way of Buddhist Burmese? The whole world is watching burmese people killing Muslims and Christians ethnic people. And don't say it's the military..... Burma civilians and government are the same.
Mark I have no comment, but what I can say you keep on making my appetite growing,nd I'm getting bigger and bigger each day by watching your shows watching from Zimbabwe.lots of love to Ying and Micah
Ive been watching you since before Ying was pregnant! I love your videos and to see you describe & eat it, is what makes your channel so great! Let’s see Ying eat too!!
me and my husband are planning to move to a different country and I would really like to move to thailand, the food is great and it's absolutely stunning over there the only thing that worries me a bit is the language it sounds difficult to learn
@@ojosazules8828 it is, the only thing missing are some beaches. The mountains are very beautiful but I need the ocean. I also think the people are very kind in Thailand I haven't experienced it for myself but from what I've seen it does seems to be like that
The language is definitely difficult to learn especially if you're a native English speaker, but don't be put off by that. In many parts of Thailand, especially in cities, a lot a people speak English and if you actively try to learn Thai you will start picking up the basics very quickly.
@@Junbav I already moved to a different country 15 years ago and I know once you are living in a place learning the language comes natural in due time, but I only moved from Belgium to Germany and both languages are very similar in many ways. The most difficult part at least I think is not being able to read because that usually helps a lot with knowing how to pronounce certain words. And ofcourse english is a language spoken in many parts of the world, so we'll be able to come by for sure. For me it's either Thailand or south America like Panama or somewhere around that region and altho I know learning spanish or portugese would be a lot easier for me I would still prefer Thailand, just have to convince the husband 😆
Hi I’m Thai. As many people known, the official Thai language is widely spoken throughout Thailand. Many Thais are able to speak and understand English though more so in Bangkok and the major tourist areas in upcountry. Learning Thai is somehow not that much hard I think :) Thailand's climate and low cost of living thus making it an incredibly popular destination to start a new life, especially for retirees. Accommodation is definitely affordable! Also, Thailand is surely a safe place to live for families as well as single adults. The country is not on the high alert list for terrorism and other forms of crime but it is rated as the least dangerous country in Southeast Asia.
This seriously looks amazing and definitely one of the things that one would want to travel to Thailand for. You are doing a fantastic job @Mark Wiens in bringing these hidden treasure of dishes to the world and I am sure these amazing dishes will get their due very soon. #MorePowerToYouMark and lots of love from India. Keeping my fingers crossed and counting my blessings that some day I get to eat with you and spend some time with you 😘🥰
I come from Northeastern part of India, and we happen to have a few common names for some things. We call oil _ naman. The Thais call it too. Now you said namthan for palm sugar and in the same manner we call jaggery_ namthin. (Namthan-namthin)
Thank you my friend Mark for sharing the new video. The delights of Thai food beyond BKK truly are a wonder to the palate. I am a fan of that culture and its rich gastronomy, both street and formal for its abundant versatility. 👍
Khun Mark please make more video's in Thailand to help promote the country and tourism in a positive light since lots of negative things dont help a slow industry. This is coming from a non Thai, I love Thailand like my second home. Khub Khun Krap 💕
😮ohh..wow Mark....this is my 1st time.....watching such a unique dish....the palm fruit that turns into a great gravy / curry.....i've never seen this type of delicious food in malaysia😅..maybe, i can try cooking it....and watching this video..reminds me of the young mangosteen curry that you had before......that fermented shrimp paste with chillies is like "sambal belacan" in Malaysia.....great job mark
I've been meaning to say this for quite sime time now Mark, the post production quality of your videos have gone significantly up.....credit to the guy doing this 👍
Interesting. In Indonesia we do make curry out of toddy palm shoots as well, but I don’t think it’s common to use the fruit that way as we usually use them for desserts.
