As a singer, and a drummer, I really respect that instinct to give the vocals space. That's not something many drummers are blessed with in my experience. I saw a comment saying he "played it safe". I disagree, it shows so much restraint and balls to leave things that empty. Why do so many drummers over play? It's because we're scared of the void! So many things can upset the groove when there's space. You notice things you wouldn't otherwise notice... A fly walking on the singers back, that guy at the bar trying to carry 8 drinks, anything... Did I leave the oven on? You know how it is. Also, bass players get scared when the drummer isn't laying it on thick so, they sometimes go a bit floopy in the void and that can cause devastating snare misplacements and all sorts. Leaving space is anything but "playing it safe".
I love this!!! I love that you openly give credit to Drumeo for the inspiration, and love that you are trying to make it unique! Great song choice, very talented Drummer!!! Great job on the mix too!

That snare is perfection
I love this!!! I love that you openly give credit to Drumeo for the inspiration, and love that you are trying to make it unique! Great song choice, very talented Drummer!!! Great job on the mix too!
Wow!!! This is amazing, E.j. mehn awesome drummer, the mix and video editing is off the hook, good job guys
This with the Bass more pronounce would be a grunge hit back in the 90’s. Love it.
I had to go back and listen to him play it again. I cried.. Just listening to the way he was able to elevate and highlight Chester was just surreal. Put this on Spotify 😢😢😢
