I moved to Maine last year in September, it’s been pretty great so far! Born and raised in Hawai’i and I’m happy to finally experience all 4 seasons. Our first winter was definitely brutal, but hope we’ll be prepared next winter. Thankfully everyone’s been nice thus far!
I’m also raised in Hawaii since I was 2 years old. I’m planning on moving to the east coast when I retire & Maine is a possibility. I’ll be 48 at retirement so a second career will be in my plans. I work in Public Safety. Hopefully I’ll find something. 🤙🏽
Being from Aroostook County, Caribou, Maine, it's pretty much a totally different state compared to southern Maine. People are far more friendly up here. It's a gorgeous place! The Fall foliage is wicked!!! Best in the state! We don't have any ocean fronts but Aroostook county's summers are spectacular as well, especially the outdoors kinda person. There are literally highways for dirt bikes, 4 runners, the side by side models are preferred just because there's so much space to ride! Northern Maine also possesses multiple big lakes, ponds, rivers for kayaking and tubing, plus numerous brooks and streams which makes fishing a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors! The people up here are some of the friendliest folks in America. Down to earth and not shy to strangers.
You are right. Anywhere past Bangor is like a different state. Anyone visiting real northern Maine would be overwhelmed with the kindness and friendliness from almost everyone. People love to chat and want to know your life story.
I lived in Caribou, my family is from there. I found it very difficult as an outsider to be accepted up there. I loved living there, my father had been a resident his whole life, but it was difficult as someone moving from outside of Caribou to feel welcome.
I’ve lived in Connecticut my whole life. We are moving to Maine next month so I’ve just been looking at videos to figure out where we want to go. So this is helpful! Thank you!
I live in Chandler, AZ and aspire to move to Bangor. Thank you for this video! I would love to see more of rural Maine! Road-trips?? I want to hear all about Maine
As a Texas transplant, it is difficult to find diverse types of jobs. Maine also knows it has a problem with attracting and keeping people here. That's why they started the 'Live and Work in Maine' initiative. The pandemic saw an increase in residents because now they can do their work remotely and can live anywhere. Otherwise they would have a hard time finding employment.
Ah yes this is a great point. The large company I previously worked for pre-pandemic is mainly remote workers now. Everyone was sent home and then just stayed there, commuting 1-2 times per week for meetings but that’s it. As someone who has only ever lived here, I definitely don’t have anything to compare to regarding the workforce, so it’s good to hear your perspective!!
I grew up in Penobscot County and currently live in Hancock County and I'm just glad someone from here is talking about the place I mean this is a decent little corner of the globe
I’m from Austria 🇦🇹 and came across your channel through story times - love learning something new about different parts of our diverse world, really interesting!
Hi , thanks for all the great info ! I live in RI and plan on moving to Maine . Grew up on the coast so definitely going to try and find someplace on the coast need to be around some action so the search begins.... you do a great job !!
I was born and lived in Maine for my first 30 years I live in New Zealand now but I love to get back to Maine every November to hunt and commune with my old friends :)
I am from maine, I moved to Washington state in the early nineties and moved back in the late nineties due to a child! I love Maine it’s tough to have drop in friendships and the locals will never accept you even if you were from another part of Maine. This gal alludes to it.
It's so interesting to hear how similar some things are between states that are so far apart and have totally different cultural climates. I live in Central Florida, which is completely different than Southern Florida or Northern Florida. There are a LOT of stereotypes and assumptions about Florida. I spent some time living in Pennsylvania as a kid but I've never been to Maine, I'd love to visit one day! My sister and her bf literally just went to Maine last weekend. I love finding little hidden gem places that aren't as populated but that are gorgeous or fun. This was a very well put together, informative video, thank you so much!
Blueberries, potatoes, lobsters and other seafood. Maine has everything you could want! I live in York and my husband and I both have French Canadian grandparents. I agree with you that life in Maine is pretty great!
States and the regions inside of them in the USA are all so different! I'm from CA, which is so huge, and it's crazy to hear people's experience growing up in various regions. I've always been fascinated by Main and other NE states; I really want to check them out someday!!
I grew up in the NY metro area. Im retired and live in northern Maine for ten years now. And there's no place i'd rather be then here. It's just a great place to live....Great job with the video!
Loved your video! Thanks for answering my question 😁 I hope to visit some day. Maine looks beautiful! The older I get, the more appealing rural living seems 🌲
I used to want to live in Boston post college, and then decided against that when I realized city life makes me anxious haha. Rural life has been a dream so far, highly recommend!
Love this video. It's funny because I have found myself explaining to people who want to move here who also ask questions about where they should move - that there are a few different versions of Maine. The coast, the mountains, the cities, the county, ... .... I mean, you explained it great!
I live in mass, but my husband works in Maine. My in-laws retired there from mass and love it. My sister in law moved to Maine too, but way more up north then the in-laws
I'm from southern New Brunswick, Canada and I relate to a lot of what you are saying about living in Maine! I feel like it's very similar :) I now live in Texas with my husband lol BIG change!
@@TheNightOwl1212 I did it for the hubby lol! I def don't miss the 5 feet of snow but I could do without the 100 degree summers... I feel like I want to live somewhere in between Maine and Texas
Franklin County here, near Farmington. I've been in Maine for almost 9 years. I jokingly asked a friend when he was going to accept me as a Mainer. He said, "Never." He was joking, but wasn't. It was pretty funny. I get what he was saying though. Maine has its ways and those ways were created by true Mainers. In my area, we've got families that go back forever. Big families. We probably have a total of about 50 last names in my town and two of those last names belong to about half the people. Of course I'm being facetious, but hopefully your viewers get my point. It's different here, but it's great.
I'm definitely thinking about applying to University of Maine for grad school! I graduated from Arizona State. Currently living in Washington state, so I will be ready for the cold haha!
Let me start with last winter 2021-2022 probably the mildest winter I've experienced in Maine. I've seen temps as low as minus 30 in January. I used to plow Rockport (next town south of Camden) Some people might remember the tv show Peyton Place. (Filmed in Camden, Rockland, and Thomaston) Lobster is expensive in the local restaurants, but you can get it much cheaper off the boat. I've lived and worked here in Maine for 35 years, but born and raised in the Bronx, NY. (Appleton, Maine now.)
Oh yeah, last winter was incredibly mild! I remember having much harsher winters as a kid (mid 90s and 2000s) and my family has said that before that they were even colder.
Winters used to be really cold and snowy when in the 70s. My dad used to use wash koshe snowblower. And walk between poles to mark were the road was. That was when snow was feet deep not inches.
@@randalltolman2368 Perhaps my quest is misunderstood because I "by mistake" use standard spelling, so should better localize it -- "Heuh" and Theuh". Let me get back to my map . . . perhaps I should have been looking for those localisms in place of presumed normalcy.
Great video, thank you. I had a buddy in the Marine Corps, a Maine native, who always said, I should have been a Mainer. Portland, Oregon born, Pioneer Family, I may very well be looking towards Maine to retire in about 3 years. The Californians and home prices have made this not home anymore. As to your gardening, best Heirloom Garden Seed on the planet comes from Johnnys Selected seeds, Albion, Maine. I cannot recommend them enough. Best, Sam Smith
I grew up in Maine! I grew up in Waldo County, in the same town town that The Lost Kitchen is in. Then in 2018 I moved to the Bangor area. But last August I moved out of state. I now live in Charleston, SC.
Thank you!! I’m from Phoenix, Arizona. And, I’m thinking about moving to Maine, but not sure still. 🙏🏻 among other states I’m thinking of. Been thinking of somewhere thats way less fast pace and more chill and kumbayaya with hakuna matata vibes.
Bar Harbor is beautiful but is ridulously crowded in the summer. The South Thomaston, St. George, Port Clyde area is very nice without being crowded and touristy like a lot of other coastal Maine areas.
I am from New Jersey but I'm about to move to a little town called Patton at the very bottom of Arostook County, about 40 minutes from Houlton I'm buying my father's hunting cabin and moving my family up there can't wait!!
Hi! I can totally relate to the long, dark winters. I have fallen in love with Maine after visiting a few times over the last couple of years. Vermont is so dreary and only averages 58 days of sunshine per year. I once drove for hours into and through NH just chasing the sun. Currently, I am looking for a remote job and plan on moving to Maine for the summer and rving in warmer climates in the winter. I am older than you and lived my whole life in Vermont and I don't think that I can tolerate another winter. It's supposed to be -22 degrees F in a few days. Whippee :)!
I am from Rhode Island. Lived In Presque Isle for two years finishing up my degree. It felt like living in 1950. I am a weekender now and I live near Sugarloaf/Saddeback. My town has around 700 people.
I just applied for a speech pathology license in Maine. Seems to have great opportunities for my profession. I went to grad school near Erie, PA in the heart of the Great Lakes’ snow belt. I love cold weather, ice hockey and snow, so yeah…moving to Maine is a no-brainer for me. 😂
It takes almost 2 hours to travel from Newport to Portland on the turnpike. From Newport to Frenchville it's 5 hours. From Bangor to Calais its 2.5 hrs. You absolutely can not get from one end of the state to another in 2 hours. York to the top of Maine is atleast a 7 hr drive. As far as cold, the closer you are to the ocean the warmer it is. You also don't get as much snow. A 2ft snowfall is almost unheard of unless you are up north, past Millinocket. And Mainers know, you shovel during storms. You don't wait until it ends and have to shovel all day. You knock it down every hour to keep it doable.
Ah yes, that sounds very familiar to here haha. Seems like we might have finally kicked the snow for good, we've been pretty steadily in the 50s and 60s for the past two weeks!
I'm in MA and moving to Maine. The cooler temps are a big surprise, especially when I will be working on the water. It's already in the 80's here, but saw it's in the 50's in Maine! That's Autumn weather here! (Btw I plan on moving to Bar harbor) and you're talking about the Boston accent. They don't say their R's.
It's honestly crazy how close we are to Mass, yet temps can be so wildly different! We just hit 90 on Saturday which had to be a record lol. 50s and 60s is Fall for us as well, but for some reason spring seems to always take forever to warm up. Seems like we're finally getting there though! And yes the Boston accent and Downeast accent are very very similar. My former manager was from Dover-Foxcroft and I mistook him for a Boston guy when we first met! You might hear some of it up once you're up in Bar Harbor :-)
Thank you for making this video. We are considering a move from Hawaii to Maine with our two children. We would want to be as respectful of the community as possible, because living in Hawaii we know what it can be like. Do you have any tips for this? Thank you!
I was born and raised in DownEast Maine at the very tip of the state in Lubec, Maine where Acadia national Park is. I'm very disappointed that you barely, barely mentioned DownEast! I know it's probably not what you know, but it is a significant part of Maine. My father was a commercial fisherman who dragged scallops and sea urchins, dug clams for a living.
Just for viewer clarity, Acadia NP is nowhere near Lubec. It is more than two hour southwest of there. That said, Lubec is a great little place. If visiting there, don't forget your passport and visit Campobello Island, Canada (connected to Lubec by a bridge). Visit Roosevelt Campobello International Park (RCIP) where FDR has his summer home. We built a seasonable home on Campobello almost 20 years ago after looking at land in Maine (from Bar aorth). We just love Campobello and Lubec. It is not easy to get to, but if it was easy, it would not be what it is.
@@brianflynn6198 You were correct Acadia national Park is near bar harbor. I was mistaken, I was thinking Acadia was the park where West Quoddy Head lighthouse is.
I had my headset on while sleeping and started dreaming I was in Maine. Been working in Sudbury Massachusetts but living in Florida. Planning on moving to Mass and getting a small slightly remote (30 minutes from a cvs) cottage in Maine Bangor area. I used to go to the lobstah cove in York 😅😅
Don’t forget Ogunquit on the coast and the marginal way walking path and gorgeous beach. Don’t forget the thousands (yes thousands) of lakes (mt. Blue state park in Weld Maine)…bethel Maine…Rangeley Maine, Rockport, Boothbay Harbor.. I was born and raised in the western mountains and lakes region of Maine…
visited york when 15 years old was very nice at that time can you tell me about the allagash wilderness area from your experience or from friends who have
Love the video 😻Watch your video over again and count the times you say -like-it’s ok love Maine just trying to help 👁Maine is my favorite state and your not odd it might even be a generation thing just noticed . Enjoy your spring❤️Stay happy and safe🖖
I recommend also getting to check out moose head lake and for those who don't know that's the biggest lake in Maine I've personally been there I mean it's not lake superior or anything and I've seen that too but that's another story regardless moose head is a really nice place
Love this video! When you talked about how nice people were I immediately thought, “not in AZ!” 😂 I would love to live somewhere a bit more simpler but I absolutely hate the cold. I also completely understand the dislike for transplants. There has been a mad rush for AZ as of late and I will tell you that true Arizonans hate it. Its 10x more expensive now, and its just way too populated here. I am an AZ native and while I do love this state, I have contemplated leaving because of how ridiculous it’s gotten. Maybe Ill come visit Maine just to check it out. I just don’t think I could live somewhere that gets so cold for so long.
I’m watching this 9 months late, but my husband and I have decided to move to Maine after he finishes his active duty contract with the Air Force. Originally from Pennsylvania , but we are so excited to be moving to Maine. It’s funny you mention how mean people were to you in the first video you posted related to this. I am apart of a Facebook group for Portland and anytime people mention moving there everyone in the group gets angry and tells them to move to New Hampshire or Vermont 😅 That has been a little discouraging but it is what it is I guess .
Omg hi! I’m coming off active duty Marines myself and I totally know what you mean! I’ve never met such angry comments. Especially that group chat “Everything Maine”
@@wcenriquez06 I am sorry you are experiencing this too! haha but we are not letting it deter us! I can appreciate the nature of Maine just as much as if not more since we have been stuck in the midwest hahaha Congratulations on separating from active duty !
The Bangor daily news just did a story about drug overdoses, violence, and prostitution in library. They’ve had to put a time limit on using the bathroom at the library, And limit the bathroom to one person. My home value went from 200,000 to probably 400,000 and I’ll be moving to a safer area. “Before the pandemic, the library asked police for five or six criminal trespass orders a year to keep disruptive people from re-entering their doors. Library staff have asked for 43 in the last eight months, Treat said. There were also four overdoses in the building between November and March. Bangor police responded to 59 calls from the library between January and March this year, mostly for welfare checks, overdoses and disorderly conduct like fighting, said spokesperson Wade Betters. There were 11 service calls from the library during the same period last year.”
I lived in Aroostook and my family os from Caribou, Presque Isle and even further up in Allagash. I would love to chat with you and give you an idea if what its like to live in the county, particularly as someone not from Maine. My father was born there, my great grand parents came into the Allagash in the 1800s… would love to chat!!
I film talking head videos like this with a Canon 70D and a shotgun mic attached directly to the camera, and this is just natural light! As for editing I use Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Audition (for sound if needed).
Living in MA with family from ME, and only ever vacationing in Maine for my whole life, Belfast, Presque Isle, Gorham, Litchburg, Kittery, Portland, pretty much every area of Maine, I’ve been, and it’s ALL amazing. I WILL live in Maine someday, it’s Beautiful, every part and every town. Every town has a great diner, great people, local farm shoppes, thrift stores, antique stores, covered bridges, lakes, loons, it’s all amazing 😍 You love shopping? Freeport Maine. You like the ocean? Portland Maine. Skiing? All of Maine 😆 fishing? Sebago Lake, Tacoma Lake, Bear Lake, all perfect 👍🏻 come visit sometime, it’s truly Vacationland
If you were to move to Maine from somewhere not in the north, it’s Winter for at LEAST 5 months, the sun goes down between 4: 30-6 for about half the year, it is COLD and dark for a LONG TIME so be aware. A LOT of people here have working fireplaces with wood/charcoal. Most people here are old fashioned as well, pretty much the opposite of what I imagine people from So Cal would be like haha, lot of old hardy people here, not super “hip and new” unless you were living in the center of Portland or something.
Haha just reading your comment after we installed. wood stove for primary heat last week! I totally agree, people do live very old fashioned here, I just love it!
I’m from Arizona; Gilbert specifically. I love AZ however, I absolutely love the state of Maine. My wife’s entire family is from Maine, Bangor/ Orno area where her brother is a professor at U Maine. My wife and I are contemplating on moving there sometime after the election but keeping our house here in Arizona. Plus, she misses her family and our boys would love the ocean and outdoor adventures. What are jobs like up there? I’m a police officer and my wife is a nurse, is there any opportunities for us? I know we would be taking a massive pay cut but it’s better than living on the surface of the sun lol! Thanks to taking the time to team our comments and providing a informative video! Looking at several counties ie Penobscot obviously and the suburbs of Portland in Cumberland county. Definitely not I’m the city. Thanks again!
Jobs are definitely available, much more so in the Portland area but with your professions I don't believe it would be difficult finding something in more Central Maine! I feel like the medical field especially is always hiring here. I definitely don't blame you for wanting to go somewhere with milder temps, ha! Arizona is definitely toasty!
Hey I’m planning on moving to Yarmouth Maine and what insight can you recommend about Yarmouth Maine? Plus I’ve also been thinking about considering to move to caribou Maine, but I’ve heard shady things about caribou Maine. P.S. I do love the quietness and tranquility!
Haha well those two are VERY different from each other! Yarmouth is a suburb of Portland. It tends to be stereotyped as an "upper class" area. Lots of high value properties. Lots of tourists there as well in the summers, since the Portland area is so popular. As far as Caribou goes, I actually don't know a ton about it other than the fact that it's at the top of Maine in one of the ruralist counties haha. I'm sure it would be a lot quieter! Anywhere in Maine is beautiful though, just depends how close you want to be to amenities!
Summer in Maine is kind of all over the place! Early summer is usually mild, in the 70s and low 80s. We usually have a heat wave somewhere in July and August where temps get up into the high 90s and low 100s. Usually it's pretty humid at this time as well. We definitely use air conditioners!
I am 73 living in Leesburg, Va. My ancestors are from Falmouth Maine. I would like to relocate to Maine. Need to be near medical facilities. Would love to live on coast or water. Falmouth is overpopulated. Any suggestion?
Can you tell me what town in mnorthern maine near the nother lights hospital and the most reasonable one to live in ,on a social security for one ..maine has been a dream for me all my life !
Looking to relocate to Maine The rent seems so much higher . Is there one room rental opportunities just for temporary stay until I get settled . Thank you.
Transplanted to Aroostook a few years ago. If I want to go to Lowe's, it's an hour. If I want to go to a decent size grocery store, it's a half hour; so yep it is rural but love it. You don't sound like you have any kind of Mainer accent??
Haha yup, that sounds like Aroostook! And I don't have anything super noticeable! I tend to pick it up when I'm around my father-in-law or even my husband for a length of time. I'm originally from southern Maine and it's less prominent there.
My wife and I are looking into Maine. We currently live in Roswell, NM. (Home of the infamous 1947 UFO crash👽). It wouldn’t be an easy move and it seems Maine has a housing issue and it’s more $ then here. We help run an alien tourist activity here and do well and the owners we work for our great, and leaving that behind would be tough especially if I don’t make as much considering my wife and I sell out art and photography in the shop as well! So we just have to keep researching and see if it can work out! I’d love to be out photographing lighthouses and nature. 👍🏻
To anyone from the Washington state region if you wanna have a ball park idea of Maine weather think more like Alaska I say this being a true blue mainer who lived in Alaska for about 2 and a half years
Haha we're not super far, maybe an hour? We had bear where I grew up as well, which was a coastal town! Though I can say I personally never saw one until now! 😅
I've been to Maine once, such a beautiful state. But idk if I could live there 😔 I'm more of a big city type of person. My husband prefers rural living, so we compromise and bought a house that's only about 40 min drove outside of a large city
Hey! I found your videos looking for information about Maine. My husband and I are planning a trip in September to see if we would want to move permanently. We were thinking about seeing the common tourist places Kennebunkport, Portland, Bar Harbor. My parents have visited Maine and loved it. We have heard that crime rates are low and it looks beautiful to raise kids. We are looking to move in a year. Do you have any advice on towns/cities that are close to the “action” (like tourist things or traditional stores/ Lowes etc.) but have little neighborhoods? We are from Cary, NC in the south. We would want to be 20-30 min drive from a major town or city but buy a house in a little neighborhood. 🤷🏻♀️ Sorry if this a super long question!
You can pretty much find big box stores all throughout the state, but if you're looking to be closer to the coastal part of Maine and somewhat near Portland, I would suggest Gray, Waterboro, Hollis, Wells.. I could go on and on haha. There are LOTS of smaller towns around Portland! Most are nice and quiet, have rural areas, but are still close to areas with a lot of things to do :-) I hope your trip is fun and you have a wonderful time here! It's truly a gorgeous state!
Thank you guys for answering my question! 😃 We are going to visit Acadia national park in early October. Do you guys have any advice ? It looks a little overwhelming in videos 🤣
Central Maine is a large area where in Central Maine do you live, I am also from Southern Maine and York County In a little town emery mills ❤️ now I’m in old town ❤️
If anyone has spent winter time in Wyoming or Montana....Maine is comparable however according to historical weather reports, Maine isnt as cold as Wyoming
With the exception of higher elevations in western Wyoming and Montana, the average snowfall in Maine is considerably more than the more populous towns of Montana and Wyoming. Much more humid in all seasons in Maine.
Maine gets more snow than Wyoming but Wyoming is most definitely colder, especially western Wyoming. Also, Maine is the coldest state in the springtime. Spring is a long time coming in Maine!
I'm in montana. I'm thinking hard about moving to maine, aroostook county. Montana is way more expensive than Maine. Check out housing in Montana compared to Maine.
I have a question for I guess it’s central Maine. I have an opportunity to move there it’s kinda like I’m out of choices and a friend offered me an apt on their property. One I HATE the cold and snow but my my state is becoming unlivable. I’m a vegetarian pretty much vegan I never ate seafood never liked it anyhow (and I’m from a ocean town) so can anyone tell me how easy it is to it vegan/vegetarian there? I wish they had property in like Florida I’ve put this off for years. But I’m at this point well they keep pushing ppl out for rich ppl to have a summer house and ppl are becoming homeless no family to help SO I either keep living in worse and worse properties and where I live is a nightmare or bite the bullet and just go and financially have a better life and live in a decent place which I haven’t been able to in years. I DO love the outside especially the ocean and I WOULD be still very close to it. Also what scares me is I looked up stores and they look far. Kinda freaks me out. I’m not nice to transplants here either. Most of them don’t even live here year round and call themselves local now. Um… NO! No you’re not. So should I expect ppl to be not nice? Luckily my friends are also native to my state. I’m down with less ppl it’s gotten stupid here not how I grew up here. I enjoy being alone it’s actually a necessity for me a good amount of time. But also I mean I don’t want my friends to be my ONLY friends either. How do you meet ppl there? Also is it true the ocean even in summer is still too cold? They offered this years ago I’m glad I didn’t go but like you said ppl moving there driving up prices where I live in winter it’s like empty house streets and streets of empty housing. And homelessness on the rise. Why? Cause greedy ppl buying them for summer rentals only which personal I feel should be regulated extremely high taxed and no loop holes if you don’t rent to year round tenants. Not one part of the year and then summer ppl. Moving is HARD & EXPENSIVE. I’m super sad to live my hometown after just coming back 9 years ago it’s gone so bad in that time frame. Least I’d be safe with housing security there least I hope so .
Being from the greater Portland area, I'll attempt to answer a couple of your questions. In terms of vegetarian and vegan options, there is a Whole Foods and Trader Joe's in Portland, along with a couple local shops called Lois' Natural(Portland and Scarborough) and On The Vine (Scarborough) that are more specialty grocers. The supermarket Hannaford tends to have a decent selection, especially if it's a larger location. As far as attitudes towards transplants, it would depend more on where you'd be moving to. A city like Portland or Lewiston, it wouldn't be as noticed as much due to the population. If the place you were moving to was way out in the country or the woods with neighbors far and few, it wouldn't be as bad either. The issue where I live in the suburbs is when people move in and try to change the area to be like where they came from. One of the better ways to make friends is to find a club or an organization that you have interest in, such as a knitting group, hiking club, or billiards team. Another recommendation I could offer is to reach out to the adult education resource in the area, many offer enrichment classes such as pottery, woodworking, and one close to me even offered bagpipe lessons. Yes, the ocean tends to stay on the cooler side even during the summer, currently the Gulf of Maine is around 50 degrees and by the end of the summer it may reach the low to mid sixties. If you want warmer water, the lakes would be a better option, Sebago Lake is a popular option, but there are many recreation areas that have lakes and ponds if huge crowds aren't your thing. If there's any other questions I could try to answer, feel free to reply.
I moved to Maine last year in September, it’s been pretty great so far! Born and raised in Hawai’i and I’m happy to finally experience all 4 seasons. Our first winter was definitely brutal, but hope we’ll be prepared next winter. Thankfully everyone’s been nice thus far!

The medical, schools & teaching, construction and hospitality trades are always hiring. It's a myth there is no work.

So do I
As long as the rent isn't over top
Blueberries, potatoes, lobsters and other seafood. Maine has everything you could want! I live in York and my husband and I both have French Canadian grandparents. I agree with you that life in Maine is pretty great!
States and the regions inside of them in the USA are all so different! I'm from CA, which is so huge, and it's crazy to hear people's experience growing up in various regions. I've always been fascinated by Main and other NE states; I really want to check them out someday!!
Yay you picked my question! Love the video! I’ve only ever been to Bangor so I haven’t experienced much of Maine. I want to visit again soon!
I grew up in the NY metro area. Im retired and live in northern Maine for ten years now. And there's no place i'd rather be then here. It's just a great place to live....Great job with the video!
Best coffee in Hancock county is Bucklyn coffee in Blue Hill and 44 North on Deer Isle! Love Maine so much, it is a magical place :)
I’m from Brazil, so this video it’s 100% new information for me hahaha Thank you for sharing more about the place you live, I loved it
Loved your video!
My boyfriend’s goal is to live in Maine, we lived in Berlin NH for 5 years, so this was helpful because we are looking towards Central/Portland area.
floridian with maine roots strongly considering moving up. thanks for the video :)
i am single and i’m in my early to mid 20s. where would you say the best spot for me is?
If you do - keep us in mind! ☺ www.dambriegaron.com
I'm considering traveling to Maine someday with my sister! It looks so beautiful!
@Wildlife Warrior Nope :)
@Wildlife Warrior Thanks but we can protect ourselves :)
Love this video. It's funny because I have found myself explaining to people who want to move here who also ask questions about where they should move - that there are a few different versions of Maine. The coast, the mountains, the cities, the county, ... .... I mean, you explained it great!
Hi, I’m Joe a new subscriber. I really wanna live in the coldest part of Maine.
I live in mass, but my husband works in Maine. My in-laws retired there from mass and love it. My sister in law moved to Maine too, but way more up north then the in-laws
Hello from Lawrence Kansas. My family is discussing moving to Maine. Thanks for the info.
I live in rockland maine right on the coast and it is beautiful..Penobscot bay..just gorgeous.
@@51ratdog That’s interesting. I’ve been researching that area pretty extensively. All my woodworking planes are from there.

Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland is a lot of fun too!
I'm from southern New Brunswick, Canada and I relate to a lot of what you are saying about living in Maine! I feel like it's very similar :) I now live in Texas with my husband lol BIG change!
Oh WOW that's a huge change! I'm not sure I could handle that haha
No you know the joke about the cat having kittens in the oven ...right?
I'm still wondering where "Here" and There" are located so I can try to figure out why one can't get to "There" from "Here".
You just can't.
@@randalltolman2368 Perhaps my quest is misunderstood because I "by mistake" use standard spelling, so should better localize it --

I'm from Westbrook, Maine. Currently living in SoPo. Trying to move back to Westbrook a year from now tbh. I miss all of it.
I just stumbled onto your video and heard you mention Fryeburg, that's my home town! Just subscribed to check out more!

Love this video! I have some family that live in Boothbay
Born and raised in Maine as well from OOB. Another cool place to check out is Walkers Point in Kennebunkport.
I am from New Jersey but I'm about to move to a little town called Patton at the very bottom of Arostook County, about 40 minutes from Houlton I'm buying my father's hunting cabin and moving my family up there can't wait!!
did you go? hows it going?
Thank you for making a very nice video you have a good audio voice lol and a good video presents as well
I just applied for a speech pathology license in Maine. Seems to have great opportunities for my profession. I went to grad school near Erie, PA in the heart of the Great Lakes’ snow belt. I love cold weather, ice hockey and snow, so yeah…moving to Maine is a no-brainer for me. 😂
Well let me pre welcome you to Maine
I live in west virginia, it snowed 6 Inches a few days ago and it was like 70 degrees the day before
Ah yes, that sounds very familiar to here haha.
New Yorker moving to Maine in March
I’m from Canada- I think we can really relate to your winters :) i had no idea you have Canadian ties!
Oh yeah the winters FOR SURE!! I’ve always assumed yours are a bit longer than ours with more snow? But I wasn’t sure!

You were correct Acadia national Park is near bar harbor.
I’m in auburn. Maine really can be drastically different based on what part of the state you live in.
Just going to say that I'm a bit jealous of Mainers. You have it real good up there.

@@jessicawhitsell7515that's southern maine and those people don't want to compete for jobs or housing. It's very liberal and unfriendly in that area.
Wow I had not heard this story yet! I'm glad you'll be moving to a safer area.
I lived in Aroostook and my family os from Caribou, Presque Isle and even further up in Allagash. I would love to chat with you and give you an idea if what its like to live in the county, particularly as someone not from Maine. do you still live there? i want to go check it out im from mass if people are not friendly how will i find work? im conservative is that a +?
The lighting and vocals are very good. If I may ask, what hardware and software do you use?

I WILL live in Maine someday, it’s Beautiful, every part and every town.

I would also recommend Ellsworth! Super cute area :)
Look into Standish, ME or Windham, ME

If anyone has spent winter time in Wyoming or Montana....Maine is comparable however according to historical weather reports, Maine isnt as cold as Wyoming
With the exception of higher elevations in western Wyoming and Montana, the average snowfall in Maine is considerably more than the more populous towns of Montana and Wyoming. Much more humid in all seasons in Maine.
Maine gets more snow than Wyoming but Wyoming is most definitely colder, especially western Wyoming. Also, Maine is the coldest state in the springtime. Spring is a long time coming in Maine!
is it weird we are from the same place?
