He's my uncle. Sadly WCW didn't want to keep him but no one there really had the heart to tell him. Not only cause he was a scary dude, but because they respected him. He found out and quietly accepted their wishes and finished out the remainder of his contract. Love you uncle Tonga!!
They could have used him better but he still had a good run. Great guy.
@@TheHannibalTV yeah he did. Goldberg was the main guy in the late 90's and everyone loved him but I used to tell my friends in the 2nd grade, "You know in real life, my uncle Tonga Fifita would rip all of them in half? Us Tongans are different bruh." Haha They never believed me lol
king tonga
He outlived them all
@@teti_99gold berg sucks
JJ Dillon said it best :" the toughest of the toughest, you don't hear it from them, you hear it from everyone else"
LOVE this comment cuz it's SO true!
Exactly. True though guys don't run their mouth about how tough they are and try to stay out of trouble because they know exactly what they are capable of.
badasses don’t have to tout their deeds, they let their actions speak
exactly they don't run their mouth.
Real bad asses don't embellish about how bad there. Haku is a bad man. Love him!
vagina feet You can't be serious?? He's still tough, I guarantee that.
@995sean Exactly!
@vagina feet YOU tell him that.
Haku probably has to tone it down.....just to not scare people .......or keep himself out of prison
The interviewer look genuinely nervous asking the man himself if the stories of him being a tough SOB. Guessing in case he goes haku-hulk mode... That's the aura Haku brings...Thats now, as a 62 year old.
Its stupid and its true ~ Haku. 😄 love it!
Great reply. A man taking a real look at his actions.
100
that pause...
You can see Haku isn't proud of his reputation. Others would embrace the tough guy rep but a real tough guy plays it down
Unlike a lot of guys who would have a similar reputation he admits that while it was true concerning some of the stories around him they weren't exactly some of his proudest moments.. that shows a whole lot of humility and maturity and self-efficacy... He was always one of my favorite wrestlers as a kid and now as a grown man hearing him in his interviews he definitely has my respect even more .
If he isn't proud of them, then he souldn't have done them... He thinks he's so bad. Why did he never go and fight against actual ki**ers and psy**s instead of getting into bar brawls with drunk people...
I met him in a bar in Stamford ct and he was a super nice guy ...but his hands felt like old steel wool.
For not snowflake hands!
Goldberg accidentally dropped him on his neck and his neck did not break
@@poopsyko and he managed to get up fast like nothing happened i love it
Prob just callouses from weights or whatever he lifted
Why was you touching his hands?
You can tell he is actually hard as fuck because he isn’t bragging about it. It’s always the ones with the big mouth who write cheques that their asses can’t cash!
A bouncer for a pro wrestling promotion is as mean as it gets. I salute you, Meng!
Hawk once said "you can feel his power"
…also Tongan.
Not really. Most of these guys don't know how to really fight. 😆
"[T]hese guys" being whom?
@@mannybudhu3905 when and where ?
That thousand yard stare he has going is intimidating !
Haku looks like he can still go. Very intimidating vibe that he puts off. One of my favorite wrestlers of all time. I grew up watching his matches, and would enjoy learning more about his martial arts background.
I enjoy living too much to find out if he can still go lol
Of course he can still go. George Foreman can still spark anyone. You don’t lose that ability. Maybe when he’s 80…
Very humble fellow despite his toughness.
Well he ain’t a bully
Haku has aged well. Then again, I wouldn't have the balls to write anything to the contrary... but he has! :)
Time itself is afraid of changing him in any negative way
@@DrSlasher haha, I believe it. I think you're on to something there. There need to be Haku jokes like there are Chuck Norris jokes!
Haku reading this comment… loo
He probably gets asked the same question a lot
Nobody ever asks him how his matches were just who he beat up in a bar or backstage lol
because his matches and his overall run was just meh
@@8512124 just meh-ng
I thought while the young guy interviewing him was understandably a bit nervous (who wouldn't be) he was very nice and polite and asked his questions respectfully. I also sense that Haku is probably very tired of having those same questions asked of him, I know he agreed to the interview, but I get the feeling that he is tired of dealing with it based on his response that the stories "were stupid and they was true", I think he is not proud of what was done and has moved on from that part of his life and the things that he did and it is like anyone else, we ALL have done things in our past that we would love to be able to erase but we can't, we just accept it and learn from it and move on.
Like everyone says about him and the Barbarian and some others, they are very nice, easy going guys until you "poke the bear".
DON'T poke the bear!!!
well said
Also, he's definitely using broader amount of sophisticated words to. Haku wasnt born & raised in US, didn't get a Masters or big degree. He's used to wrestling and family & friends. Better to ask straight and not seem silly about it to.
Bobby Heenan would always say Haku is the nicest bloke you could meet in wrestling.
He didn't want trouble.
I met Haku once...he's one of the kindest people ive ever met
Lol he asked if you wanted your nose or your ear bitten off?
You should have asked him about fighting against Brock Lesnar
Haku is great. Love that kick that he used as a finisher when he teamed with Andre.
'Savate kick', not the super kick! From the standing position, with no fancy build up etc's.
Andre was only afraid of 2 people. Harley Race and Haku
My first time watching him when I was younger was Royal Rumble 2001, and he instantly seemed like a badass because him and Rikishi started feuding with Taker and Kane
I stayed up late to watch the 2001 Royal Rumble
Always loved King Tonga. Meng was a monster. And King Haku gets all my respect. Only 80's kids will know.
A lot of badasses thru the years....but this man is not to be messed with
That's cool he gives credit to Bruce Lee being the man
We met him at the airport. He was a nice guy and got to take a pic with him. My friend worked with him at a Toyota dealership in 2005. He didn't know he was Haku. He said he was such a humble guy.
I met this dude in a parking garage on 33rd street outside of MSG in the early 90s..Really nice guy
Just met him yesterday at a signing. He was very nice and humble. Took a picture with him and he had his hands around my neck, lol.
Haku, in deep thought, thinking about all the bad stuff he did.
And, all the bad stuff he will do.
🤣🤣🤣 The Rolodex was spinning and never ending. Lol
I use to be intimidated watching him as a kid in WCW. Now I see he's just a humbled man.
One of the greatest and toughest dudes ever. Everyone always said he wanted to support his family and loved everyone around him. But if someone ever pissed him off, that was the end of them.
Haku Is A Legend!!🙌🐐🐐
I wish people would talk more of his hi lites of his career than just his reputation outside of the ring.
they would if it was anything special
It's a shame that all of the talk about Haku is about how tough he is outside of the arena when in reality he was tremendous in there. Even the wrestlers will acknowledge that.
He was a great fighter
@@joee95 could go with anyone and make them look legit, even though he could probably whip most of their asses. True professional.
Toughest guy in the room will never flaunt it... Everyone knows Haku was kind and gentle until you got on his bad side!
One of the toughest guys ever💪
This channel is just killing it. I don't follow wrestling anymore, either than those who have MMA ties, but the wrestlers I watched growing up ,I can spend hours watching interviews!
Most humble man on earth that can rip u apart if need be I have so much respect for this man
I hope you post the full interview Hannibal. I trust you will - Haku is one of those interesting characters id love to hear more about
Meng is the kenpachi of wrestling.legittt
Loved King Haku from way back when. Is “You know” just the way all the guys talked in the locker room? All the shoot interviews, from Taker to Simmons, Haku, they all say it
I AM HERE FOR THIS!
I felt a cold chill when he said "it's stupid...and it's true." 😂
Every story I have ever heard about Haku seems to indicate that he would never *start* a fight, but would damn well finish it if he had to.
That's embedded in their culture
Damn i knew Bruce Lee inspired so many fighters but I'd have never Haku or any WWE wrestler. That's incredible, that man truly was a great one. RIP.
So yelling, screaming, bugging your eyes out, hitting women doesn't make you a tough guy is what I got from this. A quiet humble guy doesn't have show his fierceness, it will come out when necessary. I like the comment "Don't poke the bear".
The interviewer looked like he was ready to get up and run out of the room 🤣🤣🤣
Hallo from Germany. We Love Haku 👍
Ja nee ist klar... Bundesweit bekannt.
He seems like such a fun dude very easy to talk to from the videos it would be cool to meet haku.Am I the only one who even at his age still wouldn't try to piss haku off or any other Samoan/pacific islander for that matter.i hear the mothers/wives will throw down with grown men if needed to. From the videos I see they are good with nature and can cook very well they treat strangers as if they known them for decades and value family very seriously and are some of the most disciplend people ever.
Everyone loved & respected this guy!
God bless you haku🙏
Death had a near Haku experience once.
What a great answer!
Huku i admire his honesty and his sense of humility it's very refreshing.
Word is , Wcw wanted to let Meng go but no one had the balls to tell him, so he finished up his contract and that was that
I would love to talk to him for whatever time he would be fine with. but I would be so intimidated just sitting next to him hoping to not ask any kind of inappropriate question.
I don't know how approachable he would be if you just saw him in a store or on the street, but at indy wrestling shows, he was very nice to the wrestling fans and as long as you are respectful of them, they almost always are nice back. I think if you see him walking around somewhere just be respectful but friendly and you might get lucky and get to talking.
@@cryptozoomauler5505 thinking Meng would be flattered if anyone saw him in the street and picked him out as Meng.
The consensus seems to be that he and Harley Race were the most legitimate tough guys in the business -- and, of course, they worked with each other at the end of 1988 in a heel v. heel match to determine who was going to be recognized as King of the WWF. But I guess that a shoot match between the two would have been the ultimate.
The Undertaker just said in a new interview that haku is a legit bad ass...and taker himself is tough so if he says it then i believe him
Taker is just a tall man who played tough , & Haku vs any UFC Fighter from his weight class will beat him , Learn from the CM Punk UFC Experience people , sure the wrestlers of past could hold their on when it comes to the beating of street junkies unlike today Instgram models but against trained fighters that is totally different story
@@8512124 taker was actually a debt collector before he became a wrestler who he was abit tougher then a tall man who played tough
@@madandy2008 and CM Punk was taking Muay Thai classes and look how he get exposed when met with a legit fighters , its easy to through your weight around when you are as big as taker so mostly the other person will assume and avoid to fight any big man , but a trained fighter wont hesitate, being a debt collector doesn't mean anything , just like bouncers being big and throwing drunk people around , doesn't mean they could fight when they are against a legit fighter
@RUDE AWAKENINGhe would destroy jist about anyine...mayne only brock lesnar coukd match upto him but we will never know
@@8512124 You can't compare a scrawny wimp to The Undertaker you clueless d bag. He was a bad ass and would wreck you. Shut up.
Brock would never test Meng ,especially in his prime
Haku would finish what that diverticulitis started and rip out Brock's intestines and play jump rope with them lol.
If you're even a semi-smart man you'll know that no fight is worth losing an eye, even if you "win".
@travelling man really. I'm not a fan of Lesnar but very few men on this planet are capable of legitimately beating Lesnar. He is a freak of nature and I don't think he was trying to be a "badass". It would not surprise me Lesnar is the way he is because due to his natural shyness and size he was picked on as a kid. This could not have been healthy. The few interviews Lesnar has done the last few years show he has matured with his wife and children have become his primary focus and motivator.
Very true, Chad
If Andre the Giant was intimidated by Haku, that's saying something
Bring it on BRO!
I wish someone would actually get which martial arts he studied other than Sumo.
THANK YOU........YES !! For GOD'S sake, someone do a proper interview with this legend ! JB
He did much more than Sumo but he certainly isn't volunteering that information! The stuff we read about that he did is certainly not part of sumo training
The ring announcer in wcw said, he's a black belt in karate with a sumo background. Also Read about the great gama and how Bruce Lee was following his routine. Also, mas oyama said strength and speed are much more important than skill in karate, and speed more important than strength.
I remember when I was a kid seeing him as haku, and later as ming. I could tell by looking at him that he had to be one of the baddest guys in wrestling. Not surprised he's the baddest in pro wrestling.
He may be a bad ass but he's a really nice guy who has a great respect for the wrestling business
Guy says he is one of top legitimate tough guys,,, who was tougher?
I always hear Harley race and Andre mentioned after haku .
Like the question is usually who is tough after haku
These are gonna be good
interviewer looking like he doesn't want to be anywhere near haku
it would be a great shoot interview.
Those who thinks the stories are false just confronting haku , you will get the answer?
The Samoan people are so humble. And wounderful people
He's from Tonga, but it's close. Both Polynesian. Kingdom of Tonga is south of Samoa and consists of 170+ islands.
One of my favorite wrestlers ever Mr Tonga Haku aka Meng
I love his stories in the bar or with Flair, Harley Race and the other older wild olskool dudes on the Rumble specially Harley
I remember The Islanders Haku & Tama as a kid they were great.
I get the feeling that they cut the video where they did to keep Haku from incriminating himself!
Usually a true badass doesn't care about there reputation, people who witnessed it will speak for him. Badasses usually just go about there day.
I feel nervous for the ppl who disliked this video.... watch your nose
Would be amazing if Haku became the Wiseman for the Heel Bloodline lineup. Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Jacob Fatu and Haku.
Yes
I feel bad for him. He was embarrassed when asked about his reputation.
Every story I’ve heard about him, states that he is tough, but a kind person who will not tolerate a bully.
I love haku 2001 undertaker Kane feude
I know its true because he feels bad about it
I wish the interviewer made the question specific to certain story- such as biting a guy's nose off- rather than generalizing it that way.
Either way, thank you for the video!
Wonder If 90s hbk ever got his attitude with haku? Now that would be funny.
It was stupid and it was true. Lol straight to the point.
Moral of the story, don't mess with Haku
Haku has always been one of my favorite Wrestlers even before I knew how tough he was. He still is but I put was because it was about the time He and Rikishi teamed up facing Undertaker and Kane that I heard the stories. Haku reminds me of my uncle. They really look alike we he smiles. That is when I really see the similarities. But I always heard he was a great guy and so he became one of my favorites. Especially when he was with The Barbarian.
The King !!!!
Here’s some of the stories and facts:
He was one of the few men that Andre the Giant feared
He bit someone’s nose off at an airport
He pulled a man’s eye out of its socket
He actually used his finishing move The Tongan Death Grip in a fight
He’s had numerous fights with the police
It’s been said that only The Barbarian would survive a one on one fight with him
Have I missed any?
He's a bar fighter who wwe fans overrate.
@@amberwalker2559 You're a clueless d bag wimp.
The nose biting was in a bar fight and gets greatly embellished for shock effect. The eye pulling never happened. Supposedly that was in a scuffle with Jimmy Jack Funk, but Haku didn't do it because he thought about Jimmy having to provide for a family. Still not a dude you'd want to mess with.
Stevie Ray in a shoot interview confirmed seeing Haku use the tongan grip.
He spanked a hooker too hard on accident and she cried 😂
He looks as young as ever wow , he is best king of the ring
I always wanted to learn martial arts when I was a kid teach me Meng teach me
Absolute legend!
The toughest wrestler ever to enter the ring
And one of the worst wrestlers ever!
@@coolguy298 Say that to his face, I dare you
Nope steiners brothers were
@@strahinjagov so he can't take criticism
Neil,don't tell him that!

The stories are all true.
Give Haku the World’s Heavyweight Title which he so definitely deserves!!!
Don't mess with Haku, that is a big scary guy, he is a legitimate badass!!!
Hahu is the MAN
Haku for president 2020
Tonga fifita is the finest type of guys in wrestling. Tough but fair. Legitament 100 percent.
The interviewer kept a respectable distance.
You can tell he's a kind hearted person. Just wanted to work make an honest living and take care of his family
Imagine Haku in UFC or PRIDE FC...
Yeah well, he was already making a good living with wrestling, and MMA/shootfighting was JUST starting to see its first glimpses of success. It wouldn't have been smart of Haku to just let go of what he built thus far for a venture nobody knew would blow up later on.
But if he would've done that, you can be certain that on this day, among the Gracies, Shamrocks, Liddels and St-Pierres, there would also be Tonga Fifita.
Don’t ever piss off Haku
The kind of friend you want on your side on the streets.
Interviewer choosing his words carefully for the questions. Dude looked nervous lol.
Love Haku
He gave me an autograph for free and he has the neatest handwriting I ever saw
