Yellow force lightning has to be in the gray area of the force because in you mix red and green colors together it makes yellow so it must be force lightning and electric judgement combined
Regarding blue and purple force lightning, my personal conjecture is that purple is a more concentrated form of blue lightning. Palpatine's usage of blue lightning in Rise of Skywalker is certainly very powerful, but also incredibly dispersed, affecting a very wide area at one time. He also seems to use blue lightning primarily on targets who can't resist, or when his intention is to toy with them, while purple lightning is employed when his desire is to kill with the lightning, such as when he uses it on Luke in Return of the Jedi. Of course, all this assumes any coherent formula can be found in any of this, given how many different writers have worked on Star Wars over the decades, so I do think it's wise to take your cue on this all being speculation, rather than hard fact.
So in other words, blue force lightning is meant for multiple opponents which makes the damage generally lower, but purple lightning is concentrated on 1 person and is more powerful.
I agree. I think that blue means you want to inflict pain and when it's purple you truly want to turture. Palpatine wanted to torture Luke to death so it was purple. Palpatine wanted to destroy the fleet, causing harm, but was sure he already won so he wasn't so angry so it was blue

My own interpretation of the meaning would be: Blue - common for sith, used for torture or incapacitation Purple - harsher than blue, more difficult to learn but also lethal Red - driven more by logic and concentration than other forms, a “warped” version of purple allowing the user to harm others’ connection to the force Yellow - intended for incapacitation, commonly used by those with good intentions as a means of justice or protection Black - lol I’ve never seen this one before, would be cool if a force sensitive Mabdalorian learned it though, it kinda fits their vibe. My guess would be super lethal and low emotion - more a warfare use. Green - some serious nightsister shit

Many years ago , lightening hit the clothes line pole and bounced through my window , it came through and left a pencil point in the middle of two scratches , as I watched it , it dissipated into an arch ( almost like half a rainbow ) that had all the colors of the spectrum in it
If I’m being honest my impression of purple vs. blue might’ve just been down to slight variances in content creation and color fastness being inconsistent between eras of movie and series production. That’s just my simplistic view of it though.
In the third Darth bane book, there is a scene towards the end that shows a definitive difference between blue and purple lightning from the mouth of Darth bane himself. After being tortured and drugged, bane with the help of an old ally (not exactly how it goes just trying to summarize it) escapes and uses force lightning on some guards. While the lightning still kills the guards and melts the blasters in their hands, he notes that the lightning is blue insted of purple and while still killing them, had not turned them to ash like he had expected, after seeing this he remarks to himself that he’ll probably be weakened for a while until the drugs wear off. Bane starts out with blue lightning in the first book and during the second gets to purple, decintegrating targets insted of just killing them, but this section in the 3rd book shows that while still deadly, the blue lightning he has produced wasn’t the colour or level of power he was used to
Heard about a giveaway going on? The ideal kind of lightsaber I would want… Well, I’ve always had an idea for a “flamesaber”, which would have a hilt that looks like any old lightsaber hilt but the blade would be orange and have flames that come off of it. It would be a sort of “force fire”, meaning the wielder of the blade would need some fine attunement to the force to properly use it, but in doing so could do cool things like launching flames from the blade like a flamethrower, and if in a blade lock with an opponent, have the flames crawl down the opponents blade to their hilt, before slowly overheating the hilt and causing their lightsaber to short out or break. Don’t know how original that sort of idea is, but it’s been in my head a while, so I think it would make a really cool and somewhat unique lightsaber.
In the words of a great legends Jedi "Abilities are not inherently good or evil, only in how they are used." -Kyle Katarn, the Chuck Norris of Star Wars hallowed be his mighty beard.
I always assumed blue/purple were the same type of lightning and it just slightly looked different sometimes because of the lightning (no pun intended) and special effects. In some scenes it looks blue and others it looks blue/purple-ish

I think momins lightning was yellow because he was actually exhibiting the will of the Darkside, thus I think yellow is reserved for those who truly serve the force.
The vision Vader had when he used red lightning was only an illusion and he likely didn't have the ability to use it. The only one who used it in canon is the Son.
I always thought that the color was similar to the user's stance on the force AND their mindset. A bit similar to this video. Here is what I had always thought: Yellow: neither light nor dark, performed by those with neutral stance on the force. Weaker than blue and generally non-lethal, basically lightening that isn't tempered by emotion. White: basically a level above yellow but is associated with the light side, used by those strongly attuned to the light. Blue: dark side ability, strong force power fed by various levels of anger and fear. Purple: second to most powerful variant, used by those who are STRONGLY attuned to the dark side, usually fed by the same emotions as blue, but add in greed. Red: basically the most powerful and only able to be used by those who are, or are strong enough to be one, a pure avatar of the Dark Side. That or a being that was created to be a direct, unfiltered, connection to the dark side. Either you would have to be The Son, or a Sith spirit to be able to use it. Green: Lightening ability used by those NOT associated with the Jedi or Sith, and usually only occurs as an ability to those who do not worship or view the force in the ways the Jedi and Sith do. Could be as powerful as either blue OR purple, depending on the user's level of skill and mental stance. Usually seen as a form of force-sorcery or a force-conjuration; conjuration as in calling on the force to use it as a weapon vs forcing it to be a weapon as a Sith would use it.

I actually wasn't aware that lightning came in different colors...I've only ever seen the movies and the clone wars, so I thought it was like the blaster lazers, like how the Jedi used green lazers until palps destroyed them and the empire continued to use them
I like how you talk about both Legends and Canon as equals instead of trying to put one above the other, because they both have interesting and fun stories. I think that the way Star Wars works nowadays is very similar to marvel. we have multiple timelines going, and they all have interesting stories to tell. I think that instead of forcing one to be the only one we care about and leaving all the other ones in darkness, we can learn to appreciate all of them. similar to how marvel has many different cartoons, movies, different lines of comics that take place in different universes, and things like that. we don't just have one canon timeline that we care about and all the other timelines are just silly corporate fanfic, no, we view everything as equals existing in a multiverse. maybe with Star Wars we should do the same, it would put an end to a lot of the hatred because people could just focus on a universe they prefer without diminishing other people's favorite stories. or, even better, we could focus on everything and try to build our own Universe with parts from each, there's no rule against that. film is art, so we may as well treat it as such.

IMO Yellow isn't the strongest but it should beat all the dark side force lightning due to electric judgement being a counter to evil. The more evil the target the more effective the electric judgement.
I mean, the lack of respect for Dooku. One thing is not liking the character, but calling him weak? Come on. The way I see it. there is no point in keep callIng some abilities exclusive to the light or dark, because there are very few that belong to each, and over the years, SW has made it clear that lightning force is neither dark or light , with the only difference between jedi and sith users being the path they took to reach it, with those using the dark side becausevis quicker and more powerful, while those in the light use it because the go all the way around the system to use a 'darkside power' using the light alone. While greysiders or bothsiders be like *sneer* . Another force a!ility that shows the light and dark are same witht the difference being the user's own fuel and application, is the power to control plants and animals, both powers uaed by jedi and sith. ps: the nightsisters didn't believe in the force and used the daughter's power, then why does the dark apprentice book makes it explicit thwy used the darkside without surrendering themselves to it? even ventress says dathomir is sunken into the darkside, without alluding a different view of the force
I have begun to wonder myself if this supposes "dark" ability is just like every other Force ability, Neutral. Therefore it is the weilder's intent & Force connection that colours it; just as with saber crystals.
In the force unleashed dlc of hoth luke uses red force lightning and its extremely difficult to defend maybe if luke was trained to be a sith he could become more powerful than anakin or even palpatine just a detail i wanted to mention, anyway great video
No red lightning is just a Skywalker family trait, particularly anakin. Anakin also had the red force lightning trait, as stated in the video. And anakins midichlorian count was a few thousand higher than Luke's. So full potential anakin > Luke. Anakin is confirmed the chosen one after all.
Maybe Blue, purple and red is just a matter of Dark side power or alignment. If dooku and malgus primarily had blue lightning it makes sense... both are complicated characters who view the sith and the dark side a little differently compared to their emperors. Vitiate and Sidious are two of the strongest and most intelligent sith to ever exist and both had great knowledge of the dark side and dark side alchemy... both their lightning's are purple. Red is used by the son, the literal embodiment of the dark side and Vader... the fallen chosen one.
I doubt than it can be categorised like this. All variations are equaly powerful in my opinion, it all comes down to the weilder, his/her connection to the force and the intensity of the emotion that carries it out. They seem to have different purposes though, i.E. yellow is more tool than "weapon" just as white, where as blue, red and black are destructive by default. Thats my theory at least.

Could the blue, purple and red lightning be seen as unnatural manifestations of the Force whereas the other colours (except Jaina’s use of black Force Lightning) are more natural (not necessarily light side associated). Like with the Sith corrupting kyber crystals, does their hate alter the colour of Force Lightning from its natural colour (whatever that may be). Mother Talzin uses the dark side but her power comes from nature and the spirits, she merely channels that power as bolts of green lightning. Since we have seen Palpatine use both blue and purple lightning I wouldn’t be surprised if he was capable of producing red lightning as well it’s just he’s never used it. As for red force lightning, despite the colour often associated with passion what if in this instance it isn’t. What if red lightning is the result of cold, dispassionate emotion. I’m not sure if this hypothesis works in consort with the Son but it would better suit the more scientifically minded Bith Sith, Darth Tenebrous.

Are you talking about the Mortis Mural at 9:45?
Who here thinks Anakin could have used a red and purple lightsaber simultaneously and with deadly skill and accuracy?
Bane starts out with blue lightning in the first book and during the second gets to purple, decintegrating targets insted of just killing them, but this section in the 3rd book shows that while still deadly, the blue lightning he has produced wasn’t the colour or level of power he was used to
the inflections in his voice drive me crazy
I wonder where is white lighting lays in the Star Wars universe….
and I may call it force redemption.
Let's be honest, arcann only has yellow lightning cause it matches his outfit and the eternal empire colours lol
Heard about a giveaway going on?
The ideal kind of lightsaber I would want…
Well, I’ve always had an idea for a “flamesaber”, which would have a hilt that looks like any old lightsaber hilt but the blade would be orange and have flames that come off of it.
All I am gonna say is this: The power to wield Pure Electricity is *THE* Coolest Force Ability in all the Star Wars Universe.
I always assumed blue/purple were the same type of lightning and it just slightly looked different sometimes because of the lightning (no pun intended) and special effects. In some scenes it looks blue and others it looks blue/purple-ish
*lighting
I think blue is the desire to make someone suffer, while purple is the desire for their death.
Well then I would use both.

Here is what I had always thought:
Yellow: neither light nor dark, performed by those with neutral stance on the force.
Blue, yellow, pink! Whatever man, just keep bringing me that!
Thanks for the video!

Doesn’t starkiller use purple lightning if you upgrade it enough in TFU2?
Vader's Fortress 2 - Presents:

Actually starkiller sometimes used purple lightning.all you have to do is upgrade
My theory is that green lightning is produced by someone unknowingly tapping into the dark side.
I actually wasn't aware that lightning came in different colors...I've only ever seen the movies and the clone wars, so I thought it was like the blaster lazers, like how the Jedi used green lazers until palps destroyed them and the empire continued to use them
Vitiate also used either white or black force lightning (it's a bit difficult to make out which one it is).

So Black and Yellow lightning both sound like they are both somewhat connected to righteous anger, or controlled bursts of anger
On swtor early in the story the sith inquisitor uses white force lightning a few times which could indicate that it's a weaker form
Malgus would like to have a word with you lol

Rise of Skywalker blue lightning because Disney was lazy and didn’t really care.
IMO Yellow isn't the strongest but it should beat all the dark side force lightning due to electric judgement being a counter to evil. The more evil the target the more effective the electric judgement.
Isn't electric jujment sometimes depicted as orange?
Mine could be yellow but I haven’t watched the whole video yet
Hopefully u become bigger than Star Wars theory
Why?
Red
Kyle Katarn used lightning
I have begun to wonder myself if this supposes "dark" ability is just like every other Force ability, Neutral. Therefore it is the weilder's intent & Force connection that colours it; just as with saber crystals.
Darth tenebrous did not use red force lightning. Nor did darth nihilus as some in the comments said
In the force unleashed dlc of hoth luke uses red force lightning and its extremely difficult to defend maybe if luke was trained to be a sith he could become more powerful than anakin or even palpatine
just a detail i wanted to mention, anyway great video
No red lightning is just a Skywalker family trait, particularly anakin. Anakin also had the red force lightning trait, as stated in the video.
And anakins midichlorian count was a few thousand higher than Luke's. So full potential anakin > Luke.
Anakin is confirmed the chosen one after all.
@@trevorveillette8415 if red lightning is a Skywalker family trait then how come Darth caedus \ Jacen solos lightning wasn't red. Nor was his sisters
Emerald lightning looks better but I'm going with red.
I'd want red force lightning so powerful it could vaporize someone almost immediately
Red lighting is my favorite
Maybe Blue, purple and red is just a matter of Dark side power or alignment. If dooku and malgus primarily had blue lightning it makes sense... both are complicated characters who view the sith and the dark side a little differently compared to their emperors. Vitiate and Sidious are two of the strongest and most intelligent sith to ever exist and both had great knowledge of the dark side and dark side alchemy... both their lightning's are purple. Red is used by the son, the literal embodiment of the dark side and Vader... the fallen chosen one.
Red lightning!!! Baby!! ❤

Emm ya the whole night sister magic thing is green force lighting emm I don’t think technically force lighting maybe maybe not idk I just think it’s technically not a form of force lighting technically speaking technically speaking technically speaking
Red lightning was also called sith lightning
