So excited about all of the positive feedback! Stay tuned for a lot more content on the way!
The thing is there is so much little details in the clip that first went over my head. Breaking it down really helps us new creators. Thanks Daniel, the content here is just AWESOME!
Bro, Im not exagerating when I say this, but your tips are by FARRRRR the best ones. Better than Peter Mckinnon or any other filmaker here in UA-cam!! Keep up the amazing work man!!
Hail to the new king!
What song did you use? It is awesome!
Daniel Schiffer Thanks for a good tutorial, again! Showing all the individual tweaks separately helps learning. And yes, the end result looks awesome! 👌
Anyone else think the “lame” footage was actually hella decent
loll yea
The camera movement is way above average already
Yes! Especially the use Helios lens actually give the footage distinct swirly blur
dude that's what I said within seconds lol
Ayden Steffen pffffffft yessssss 🤙🏼🎥🖤
i JUST NEEDED TO STOP IN MIDDLE OF WATCHING TO SAY HOW CRAZY YOU WORK IS
just wow, i learned so much just in few minutes
Ruslana's Self-Care Diary thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed 😊
Dude, this genuinely blew my mind. I felt like I was watching a 3D film! You're pushing the limits on this platform man!
Burns Thornton ; idk I can’t explain it but the way he makes these videos is really engaging, educational and entertaining in a way I haven’t really experienced before. It has this really cool tone/ feel to it.
This guy's "lame" level is at a whole different level than my "lame" level
Brilliant as always bro, the 5-15% zoom in is something Ill definitely take on board, as well as everything else of course!
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Awesome tips. Love the breakdown. Though question regarding the zoom. If shooting at 1080@60 or 1080@120, wouldn’t we lose a bit of quality with the zoom?
Ashit Tandon if it’s only a little bit of zoom the quality shouldn’t be noticeably effected.
We agree, I still have a lot to learn
@@danielschiffer frame rate?
Nice video! I've watched like 5 times that part when the light changes and it hits exactly with the music! Great content!
This is actually one of best way to teach editing and it is so rare to find on youtube - step by step improvement from so-so to amazing. Thanks, Daniel. (I am actually very lazy to comment, but you did fantastic job here).
Probably your best video. Tips in here are CRAZY. Thanks bro!
Dude I needed this. This really shows how creativity in post is so essential to make use of all footage
There's nothing I love more than when the music lines up perfectly with the clips. The part wehre the light changes and the you matched the song perfectly gave me chills man, it was so good! Definitely something I gotta work on.
Daniel! As a very early stage creator that isn’t yet sure if he wants to do video- or photography, this video had a big motivational impact on me. Would love to see this exact format more often (I know that this was probably a bunch of work, but SO helpful and spot on, in so little time). Highly efficient. Super cool!
Magical, my friend. I'm glad you mentioned the importance of music. I think that is something often overlooked. Keep killin' it!
Epic bro, love the colour change when she is walking away at 0:32!
Dude, absolutely my favorite video of yours to date! I can't count how many times I came home from shooting something I was hoping would be FIRE, looked at what I shot, and thought 'Well that was pointless.' And in most cases, discontinued the project. After seeing what you were able to do with your raw footage in this video, I'm again re-inspired to go out and make something out of what may seem like nothing. Thanks for the advice and inspiration Daniel! Keep it up as always. Gotta go and keep grinding so I can one day get to where you are with your filming and editing skills.
Loved hearing your process. It’s dope how you break everything up into their individual parts for simple digestion.
6:42 that color shift from the billboards was so dope
aspen so lucky with that shot🙌🏻
He took the opportunity and made it a banger
Fantastic looking B-Roll Daniel, I'm challenging myself to get on that shooting/editing level.
Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate how you stepped through your process and seeing how every new element added to the final result.
Thanks, Daniel! Once again, you made THE video I’ve wanted to see more of. Seeing the raw footage and how you built the final product was SUPER insightful. Seeing the comparison was awesome. And the sound design was really cool too. Thank you!
These tips were really helpful, Keep it coming bro.
At 1:10, the drive of an artist.
It can sometimes be halting whenever have a perfect-or-nothing mentality.
Great video. Thanks for the reminder.
FANTASTIC. I loved seeing the breakdown and progression of the sequence from raw to finished step by step and what it looked like.. I feel like this is super helpful to see what individual layers were added. Keep killing it.
I’m fairly new to your channel but I must say that your teaching style is spot on, I really enjoyed this one and value the way you have deconstructed your process completely for us to benefit from. This is brilliant, thank you.
This is awesome.
Thank you for sharing the process. I love watching these kinds of breakdowns of a process. It helps us see how you see what you're looking at.
Great work.
Subbed for sure.
love this video! This is an amazing resource for us!
Appreciate the dope effort bro
Okay you are ridiculously good. Both at editing and "teaching". Always straight to the point, it's such a pleasure to watch your tutorials.
You present things in a very simple, easy-to-follow way while never shying away from the important details. Keep up the good work.
Awesome tips. I hope you have a beautiful evening too!
It's amazing to see your progress as a filmmaker
i liked the way you showed us in a short manner what you did and why you did it. more of these please!
You have quickly become a favorite for tutorials. I’ve learned so much and really enjoy your concise but entertaining delivery of very practical tips! Thank you!
I love how you made so much from so little footage! Could you make a more detailed video on sound design?
6:41 haha lucky to get the light blend well with the beat of the song
Learning a lot, I already have a consistent work flow of videos and I'm learning that small details are very important! Thanks Daniel!
That walkthrough of the edit from original footage to finished product was awesome. Thanks for making that tutorial. Definitely insightful and inspiring.
I love, that you teach me stuff I’m actually going to use in the future! Also that bokeh..😍
Thanks Vince, keep up the good work :)
Daniel Schiffer Thank you Daniel! :)
is it anamorphic?
@@leimizhou9092 Probably a Cinemorph filter, cause he didn't use it on the wide shot...
thanks again daniel, great video!
Hey Daniel, just wanted to say that from viewing quite a number of film/cinematography channels, yours is definitely one of the top. Love how you get straight to the point every time. Keep it up ✌
The power of editing. That's where all the magic happens. Always fascinating to learn about your process. Especially when you go out filming with one intention only to have to pivot when you see the captured video.
Sound design so on point 👌
Cool video! The zoom trick and the blur effect were awesome tips! I'll note them down for my next videos! Keep it up!
Thank you my dear sir! You're so great at explaining things to people with great examples! I wonder, what heights will you reach, if you start expanding your videos even more. Still, love your current style!
Thank you for the raw sound effects part and thank you for sharing overall !
Great Tips! Thanks SkillShare!
This is dope Daniel 👌🏽👌🏽
such a simple skill yet so effective, thanks!
These TIPS n' TRICKS are amazing! Thanks, Daniel!
This is dope! Very useful information!
Awesome video Daniel!
This is great, Daniel! Thanks for deconstructing the process... it's really cool to see how you can make average footage look really cinematic!
Great as always Daniel. Will definitely be applying these tips.
Definitely the best video you've made so far in my opinion.
Thanks Michael!!
Agree!! That was Amazing!
Nice work!
Have been following you a while back and very impressed of how you manage to showcase some game changing tricks in each one of your short videos. Besides the techniques in fcpx, those ideas like sound design really hit me as a complete amateur who does a boring day time job and learns to make videos after that haha. Thank you and we want more!!
Dooooooood that small scale key frame adds so much! Gonna start using that, thanks!
Woahhhh 😍 that was sick af brooooo
That bokeh is gorgeous
Straight forward and to the point !! one of the best videography tutorials ever !! Thanks a million Daniel
thanks man. that sound design is on point!
Could you make a whole video about the Helios 58mm? There are a lot of videos out there but they are just about taking photos with this lens and till now I‘ve seen no one using it for video.
That would be so cool because it‘s an interesting lens.
Ps: I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. Your a big inspiration to me because you helped me so much. If you watch my videos you will notice that every new video is so much better than the others and my skills keep improving and improving. Your tutorials played a big role in this evolution and it‘s crazy that you share all this knowledge for free.
Sorry for my bad grammar and greetings from Germany ✌🏻
Thank you so much for the comment and the kind words! I actually do plan on making a video about the helios lens- just need to get more footage with it!
jonas h yeah i second this i'd love to see a video this daniel!
Daniel Schiffer I cain‘t wait to see it :D
Try looking up brandon li. Jonas h
Who's not inspired to dig through their crates of crappy footage, and create something dynamic? Daniel Schiffer... You had me at "Hello!" Be well, stay encouraged, and Encouraging!
Jacob Christian Glover All the vidoes ive made was from crappy old footage ive had laying around. It does make it kind of hard because nothing was planned but i have made some pretty cool vids under a minute long. Nothing on this type of level but i think they are some of my best works.
Big thanks for All your vids and your Honesty. It's very rare don't ever loose that, so many do on the way. Your skill set is very impressive. There are no problems...just solutions to them, and you clearly showed that here.
DUDE I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS BEFORE, BUT YOU ARE MY NEW FAVORITE FILM FANATIC EXPERT! I FEEL LIKE I LEARNED A SH** TON OF FILM EDIT SECRETS IN LIKE 30 SECONDS ( I know It was a longer video lol) but there was like zero time wasted with ums and ahhh or fumbling around looking for the right words... great job dude!
Ehhh!! Such good tips! Hyping everybody up to make more content 🔥🔥🔥
Hey Daniel, I came across your channel, subscribed to you right away.
Question, how long do you work on such a short clip like the one shown here?
Thanks man keep up the great work!
Killing it Daniel. Been wanting to see your typical workflow for ages. Thanks for the insight 🤛
I have learned so much from all your videos, thank you a ton!
Anyone else get excited when a Daniel notification shows up
Yes!!!
me too
Ayeeeeeee yup yup
your voice is amazing
Love that light change with the music in the intro footage
Bro! This super inspired me and allowed me to think a little more creatively in my editing. Thanks a bunch!
Dear creator,
You added so much value to my life today. God bless you
Have subscribed and liked your video!!
That was hot but how did you done that focus so fast.. I mean when you show your hand in front of the camera and literally second later your face is perfectly focused. HOW.
rockysikander probably 2:28
I guess is called auto focus? and the camera does. your cam most be faster. He used the Sony A7III I believe.
Thanks for the free resources and the great tips! Can’t wait to try some of these out on my next shoot, particularly that super easy zoom in effect.
This is one of the best tutorials if not the best one. It makes me understand the process a lot. Thank you.
You are by far one of my most favorite filmmaking creators, a big inspiration, and one of the reasons why I decided to invest in my new setup and start practicing!
BTW are we going to see a collab with Peter McKinnon soon?
Keep up the amazing work man
He doesn’t need to collab with Peter. Guy has his own voice and it’s better off without him. This video is far more informative than anything peter hasn’t put out. Sorry.
Great video Dan, I would kill the Matt box, you don’t need it and youtubers are overusing it imho.
Me: this looks amazing!!!!
Daniel: yeah this is some mediocre footage
😂
wow! incredible results from such few clips! I would have never known they hadn't been all planned from the start. Great job!
Big help thanks bro I just went thru what your talking about but your tips helped a lot love it keep it up your a big Inspiration
Where do you download your sound effects from?
And thank u for the amazing video
I usually just google search the sound I'm looking for- no specific place!
Out of curiosity... how long would it take you to edit something like that?
Brandon Beavis Investing I think 2 hours... I don’t think more... only because it’s a small video 😊
Sounds effects require times to be searched
Sound design does A LOT. This is great Daniel ! Bravo.
Great stuff. I noticed that dramatic light change from the billboard during the first view. I wondered how you did it. Awesome coincidental timing. My favorite part of the clip!!
PSST Daniel? Can you turn subtitles on? Mahalo!
music: Andreas Jamsheree - Driving In The Dark
thank you very much!
Amazing job! Really impressed about this simple overlay and effects you used.
Brother I love you, I always learn something new from you. ALWAYS.
Nice video Daniel, enjoyed your tips and definitely agree on the sound design part :) Actually did a similar video recently :p
Question: How do you get your cuts blend with the music?
cut on the beat
Pure inspiration!!! thanks for sharing the knowledge!!
Great video man! I really enjoy that! Thanks to share!! Keep pushing forward
And if anybody else has a good source to buy or download ambient noises like these. Please let me know, All Help is Welcome..
Where the heck do you get your sound effects man????
Yeaaaah I have been tryna find places to get sounds effects (for free)
Dude. These types of tutorials are invaluable. Thanks so much.
This video has just changed the way I edit videos FOREVER!! Thank you
Where do you find your film burn effects?
Just added all the overlays I used to the description! Thanks for pointing that out, I nearly forgot!
Thanks! You're the man drawing so much inspiration from your videos
notif squad wassup!

I always learn something new when I watch your videos. Thank you, Daniel!
