Another great vid. And three fine recipes, well done, and beautifully presented. I've tired them all over the years. I've been lucky enough to have had many happy holidays in Wales. A beautiful place, and so much history. And you're right, Bara Brith is even better buttered :)
Thank you so much, I'm happy you like the video! :) Oh wow, how nice for you to have been to Wales many times. I have been there twice and I agree, a beautiful place!!! :)
Hi Eva ! So beautifully shot. Thanks for this, three classic Welsh recipes ! Lovely presentation of the techniques, and good British meal time etiquette, spot on !! (Remember, don’t eat the daffodils !). Apparently supermarkets are now labelling their daffs : ⚠️ DO NOT EAT ☠️ : Nos da 😃
Thank you so much for your kind words, Don!!! Haha, seriously? I think I might need one of these labels - for my cat! He seemed to think that the daffodils were a colourful treat for him, I had to put him into another room while filming! :)
Very nice, Eva! I'll get my Welsh wife right onto it! With leeks I always like to chop the green parts up and give them a good squeeze to release any soil than acan sometimes be trapped in there: I drop them into a jug of water for it where they will float and any grit will sink to the bottom. Then just lift them out. The white parts never seem to need that. You need to look up a recipe for Welsh cakes. My wife's late auntie Dora used to make them and they are truly delicious things. One of my favourite keepsakes is the set of old brass scales and weights she used to measure out her baking ingredients. Lovely video , as always!
Thank you so so much for your lovely comment, Terry! :) Yes, please let me know what your wife thinks - I'm very curious to hear if I actually pronounced the Welsh words the right way! :) I'll try your tip with the leek next time, sounds very good! Also, thank you for pointing me towards Welsh cakes, I'll have to try them! I also have a few keepsakes from my late grandparents that I treasure very much; a very romantic floral china set and a vintage sofa for example! :)
Thank you so much! I was hoping you'd like it, as you've commented on my outfits etc before! :) But I have to say this one was really hard work, it took me three coats until it was a proper yellow... ;) ;) :) :)
Wales is the only part of the UK I haven't been to yet. So I have yet to tase some original Welsh dishes "on location". Hopefully that can happen sooner rather than later🤞🏻, your recipes are a great teaser! 😊 And I certainly do wish I could use your magic trick for cutting onions! 😄
Just subscribed to your channel following a recommendation from Dara of Magenta Otter Travel fame. Love your Welsh content for Dydd Dewi Sant. I'm not a fan of Cawl but Welsh Rarebit and Bara Brith are another thing. When I was in school, a long time ago, we used to have a half day off on St David's Day, girls would wear traditional costume with Tall black stovepipe hats, the boys wearing workers clothes. We would all wear daffodils or leeks, but young boys being boys would only wear leeks! We used to nibble on the leek leaves so the smell in class was a bit strong.
Hello Peter, welcome!!! Thank you so much, I'm glad that you like the video! I really love your story about your time at school. I can imagine that the smell in class was a bit strong, haha! :) I hope you don't mind my asking, where do you live? In Wales or in one of the English counties near the border? Lots of greetings from Bavaria! :)
@@MissAnglophilia Hi. I live in a small village called Talbot Green near the town of Llantrisant in South Wales. Llantrisant in English is Church of the Three Saints. Llantrisant is famous for Where Dr Price started the legal right to cremation. On the outskirts of the town is the Royal Mint where all Britain's coinage and official medals is minted. We are just off the M4 12 miles west of Cardiff and just at the foot of the Rhondda Valley.
Wow that's impressive Welsh. Growing up I spent my summers in Wales surrounded by the Welsh language and I'm ashamed to say that I can't speak or understand a word of it, though I can pronounce many of the place names.
Thank you so much, Ian! Actually, I was thinking of you when I recorded the video because I know that you spent many summers in Wales. :) Oh yes, the places names... lots of "y" and "ll" in them, it seems. ;)
I find this video moving me! Wonderful stuff~ I don't know why this video makes me smile! Good Good video! Keep posting, will come back for more goodies. Come see me sometimes ya.
Love it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🏴🏴🏴🏴

Do give it a try! It's very tasty, and as there are so many vegetables included it should be quite healthy, too! ;)

Yes, I'm sure the dessert would be your favourite! :)
Where did you get the Welsh cheese from? 😍
One of the bigger supermarkets happened to have some, so I snapped it up! :)
