Nice! // My first car was an ’84 Oldsmobile Toronado! Have digital gauges, a build-in CB, & would talk to you when the doors were left open & lights were left on. Very underrated cars.
I had a 1985 Toronado Caliente in 1997. It came in trade for a new 88 LSS and my dealership sold it to me for $1,700. It had 64,000 miles and was a magnificent machine. Now I have a standard 1985 Toronado brougham with 67,000 miles that I bought from Copart in San Jose for $650. It was a donation for a local charity.
@cecilmashburn7343 On this day, 8/1/2023, I have a beautiful Carmine Red Metallic 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal. Loaded, 350 V8 and comfortable as hell. It gets me 17-18 mpg. I don't care if it gets 4 mpg, i'll still drive it anywhere. Oooooooh so quiet and comfortable! Thanks....
She's a Beauty! I'll take a Riviera of that vintage any day. I did have a rear view error of that vintage as well as a Cadillac Eldorado of that vintage. So realistically, I was stupid twice and traded them in! Thank you so much for sharing this lovely Toronado.
My parents purchased a 1984 Caliente edition new so I can verify digital gauges were included in Caliente package as well as the stainless steel roof bar and the 3 spoke steering wheel. The original brochure is available on-line which lists all contents.
I bought a brand new 1985 Caliente brown in color just a beautiful car. It had digital read out on the speedometer and when you hit 85 it would blink on/off to say slow down. A wonderful touring car.
I'm all about original. The trunk really isn't that bad and I'd rather leave that up to the next caretaker. Once you start painting sheet metal panels, it can raise suspicions and risk a not so perfect paint match.
My Folks bought 98s in the 70s and later 70s Toronados and then an 84 Toro Caliente and it was gorgeous. Better than any car of the time I think. I love Oldsmobiles of the late 60s to 76. And then these.
Boy, this really takes me back! I had that vintage Toronado back in the day in Medium Beige with a matching vinyl quarter roof and tan leather interior. What a sweet ride that was! So nice to see this one in such fine condition.
@@davebolig1989 Thankfully I had a gasoline engine. Mine was a '79 and if I remember correctly it had a 350 V-8. I believe that was the only year for the 350 in a Toronado.
In the early 80’s I toured a GM factory and during the presentation the guide told us they had determined the precise amount of paint to apply. Only a few years later I would see many, many GM cars with oxidation and “thinning paint”, particularly on metallic paint. The Tornado is beautiful
My first car..a 1984 toronado handed down to me from mom. Off white with matching interior and 1/4 top. 307 and a troublesome 325r4? otherwise a great car that was a absolute machine in the snow....the interior held up great...even in its off white color it cleaned up nice past 200k miles. I would love to have one now.
I love all 3 the Riv., the Toronado, and the Eldo., I love the hood lines on the Toronado very much like the Eldorado. The Riv the hood lines are less. All 3 of them are awesome and love them. The only thing on the Cadillac was the 4100 engine it was slow but I still love it. I wish they could make these again.
one of these is selling local to me for $6895.. looks identical, and has everything shown here except the sunroof and has 99K miles on it...i think ill buy it ...looks like a great car
My mother purchased a brand new ‘84 Biarritz..$27k..this toro was probably closer to 25-26k, imo..my father briefly had an ‘84 Caliente as a loaner after his ‘84 Regency got t boned
1981 I was graduating from college and was on the cusp of buying one of these used that was in nice condition and drove/rode like a dream. But at the last minute I decided to go to graduate school instead.
My Father had one spec'd just like this, except it was White with the red carriage top and red leather interior. I've been looking for one like it for years but these are hard to come by, especially in this condition.
I rather this than the eldorado. We had a white on red, with a slightly modified old 350. My dad painted the steel rims red to match the interior and 2 inch white wall tires
This was my forst car back in 2001. It was like a taniah color though. I can still smell it sometimes. I loved that car. Too bad it just fell apaprt basically. Doors stopped opening. Alternataor went out. Muffler fell off. But ot was an awesome car while i had it. Best part of all. It talked in a monotonic 50s driver's I structor voice
I'd rather keep as much of the originality as possible. Even with flaws. Let the next owner decide differently. Also, when you start to paint panels it sometimes casts doubts in buyers minds that there's more to hide. That's all..
at the time riviera, toronado, and eldorado briefly shared drivetrain components yet riviera had the regal,s acceleration and had eldorado,s luxury, toronado,s especially caliente editions, were too sluggish and were too isulated from the road.
Cool ride… But I’d be hesitant given the potential that a thousand big n little things might start failing accompanied with scarce parts availability. Is it cool enuff to risk the potential headaches??? Not for me If it was a ‘66….then yes !
man they need to bring cars back like this! screw suv boxes with wheezy 4 cylinders...

Even though I much prefer the Eldorado Biarritz, I would take this car in a SECOND. It’s absolutely stunning.

Know of any Toronado for sale?
@@billelrod9189 Over twenty from my sources. What model year(s)?
Beautiful Oldsmobile ! Once these got downsized sales just dropped drastically . The Tornado and 98 Regency are my favorite cars from Oldsmobile .

Beautiful car. In 1985 I just graduated from college. These were expensive but I always admired them.
The grey firemist is a nice color. I wouldve repainted the trunk lid, given you painted and replaced the fillers.

Yes indeed!
My favorite Oldsmobile, next to the 98.
This was our family car and this gave me all the feels
Love the olds, one thing I miss on my dads 82 ninety eight regency was the Body by Fisher stamp on the door jam and the olds ornament.
Nice! I had a Burgundy ‘84 model when I was in the Army, lol.
Have an 85 in silver, same interior. Very good driving, riding car. Extremely quiet.

Hope you did. They are fantastic cars. Typical issues are sagging headliners and cracked bumper fillers. Both pricy to fix so be aware..
Gorgeous car!! Very well preserved@

All the personal luxury cars had long hoods they were primarily designed for two people four on occasion
I still remember. A bit hard on gas, but lovely.

🤍 Terrific Toro 🖤
i had that exact car...same color..Caliente...i sold it about 8 years ago...its in west Palm Beach florida...

I got a tan 84 in 1995 for 800 bucks. I drove it once, and it lit on fire. Talk about a way to "burn money"

had an 1981 and a 1988. The 88 was far superior in design.
The Caliente was the eldorado biarritz of toronados

What does the cliente package give you on these cars? No interior upgrades?
leather trim, digital instruments, and im sure some other items...he says it in the video
so why not respray deck lid? just curious.
