Michael grew up in a big family, they were all treated the same. When children or people live the same experience together, there is no trauma. I know this from experience myself. It is when one is abused in secret and isolation and the child have no comparison that is when he or she fills trapped and that is traumatic. Michael's father was old school. Hadn't he been the way he was in that context, the boys would have continued the struggles of his father and for some even gangs. Michael in the end had come to terms with why his father was the way he was. After all, he turned out to be a gentle and generous person. Traumatised people rarely turn out to be good.

The sad thing is, if he did have a salacious reputation like his brothers towards women, these fake horrific CSA allegations would have evaporated. It seems in both realities his true character would have been a victim.
