Honestly, the vast majority of what was in the documentary was already known by most Janet fans. The things we really wanted to know she kept to herself. She didn't truly address the secret daughter issue. Glossed over that. Didn't address the Bobby Brown affair while being engaged, didn't cover being married for exactly five years to her baby's father which the prenup specifically awarded her 100 million for those five years with more if she had a child and she didn't give any insight on all of her plastic surgery etc. The documentary was a glossed over chaotically edited mash up in my opinion. She could have just kept to herself as usual and not teased her fans with that documentary. Also, what she revealed could have been done in a one part 40 minute slot. Just saying.

She was hung out to dry while he pretty much avoided any fire (partly due to his being advised to or partly himself to sidestep the issue) . I did a presentation in my English class, I talked about the meaning in his music, his lifestyle and even why he changed his skin colour. I got a lot of hate for that because it was not long after he died. Got accused of only liking him now he passed (I liked his music through my childhood because of my mum listening to it). People really didn't know about him and judged on what was in the media. They still do to this day. People don't realise how tough he had things, especially his younger years...

But Michael is literally the most famous man that has ever and will ever walk the planet, he's also considered the best and most talented by alot or most people. Like I said, Janet is her own talented and extremely gifted person...But when you are siblings with the literal Michael Jackson it's hard to navigate through the music industry. Janet obviously deserves her attention though-Don't get me wrong, Michael deserves all the attention and respect he's getting, because he's a legend and the best out of the family and everyone else in my opinion-But Janet deserves love to. It's hard for people to look past Michael Jackson and focus on Janet Jackson, I could see why lol. He's basically the most influential and like I said famous and believed most talented artist so I understand the thumbnail. I do agree with you though, Janet deserves her time to shine. I enjoyed the Janet documentary, but I really didn’t learn too many new things. I dated one of her backup singers for years, so I got the opportunity to meet up with them on tours and spend a considerable amount of time hanging out. Janet created a Family like environment, she’s extremely polite and sweet w/a wick sense of humor. Always down to earth, everybody was equals. She had a strong spiritual power that she never let go to her head. She stayed humble and grateful, into expressing & releasing her creativity, keeping it real was what her positive energy was about. We were all mature, but youthful coming into our own sensuality, as POC, who have a lot of hangups about exploring our freaky curiosity and she was giving herself permission. Rene & her were a great couple. He helped her to open up and feel confident with her image, but I guess if she was not matching the image of her video, he might have made some comments that made her feel insecure. I guess he thought he was trying to be helpful and trying to be there to inspire and support her. But it may have come off as condescending, but he meant well. I think he was trying to protect her before she heard it from the harsh public. Let’s work on it. Perhaps, she couldn’t no longer make the distinguish between the manager and her husband. The husband loves you no matter what, but the manager is thinking about delivering what is being marketed to the public. A rough place to be in any marriage.

@Shadow Play in the Woods I think people don’t cut Madonna enough slack and simply put she has achieved more impact than any other female pop artist, hence the title Queen of Pop. Like I said all the other females deserve their flowers but Madonna remains the undisputed queen.

Also, call me racist or insensitive, but it blows my mind that black people supported or listened to JT. Up until the Super Bowl, I was a big fan of him and NSync. But after what happened after and Janet was crucified and blacklisted, and he didn’t say a fucking word blew my mind.THE FACT THAT YOU HAD TO ASK HER IF YOU SHOULD SAY SOMETHING??? ARE YOU FKN KIDDING ME? She probably thought he would just step up as a man watching what’s happening to this icon and tell the world it was a fkn accident on his own, and when they spoke and he asked her if he should say something, that was probably the icing on the cake for her and she didn’t care anymore. If he had spoke up, on his own, and just gave a statement saying it was a malfunction/accident and it was never apart of the act, they wouldn’t have blown it out of proportion the way they did. By him staying silent, it went with the narrative that it was intentional. No way would someone willingly take the fall and choose to deal with the backlash on their own. FOH.

Gosh, watching the series I forgot how much Janet’s music was my soundtrack at some point in my life. I think the whole documentary was very refreshing and left you with a positive note. Janet is so right when she says that she has realised how incredibly strong she is. She has really stayed focused and poised in the times many people would’ve become chaotic and turn to addictive behaviour. Hats off to her. Brilliant and talented person.

I have always been a lifelong fan of the Jacksons, and this documentary was so eye-opening and generously open and candid, that i really loved it. Although her life had painful moments, i think that finally speaking out on those moments, in her terms, was very freeing for her and the family too. ❤️
