Agreed. I always though Rene was good for Janet’s career in that he knew how to create imagery and a persona the public would respond to. However I had no idea how obnoxious and controlling he was. Seems like he could have possibly had some sociopathic tendencies.
@@adua78 He was the typical manipulative man who took advantage of the fragility of a woman with low self-esteem. Janet's old dancers said his control over her was insane. From appearance to her interactions. Janet couldn't be far from his eyes. This is sick as fuck. This doc must not have explained 1/3 of how problematic this relationship was. But I have to admit he was a genius as your creative partner.
I don't mind celebrities being human but don't try and rule us with your liberal life styles. If your talented and make a living with your talents fine. She is probably one of the nicest people in the industry she just seems so lovely! I felt such sadness from her the most of the way through this documentary she deserves so much more
Janet did some incredible stuff and she should be recognized for all of it. I really hope that her new album will be respected and pop off the charts now. Cause music nowadays has become stagnant
@@tianapitesr8553 It's rumoured to be coming out this year after it was delayed in 2020. So far all we seem to be getting is the relaunch of all her music videos, and hopefully Twenty Foreplay as well which has disappeared off of streaming for some reason
Janet married men who were controlling like her father. It looks like she and Jermaine are still friends. That was the relationship I was cheering for, but he went and cheated😩
Hey, I love Janet and all...but I disagree! I mean, think about it...She's FILTHY rich! She got inducted into the Rock and roll hall of fame. She won HELLA grammy's (along with many other accolades an'shit), She finally had a child at 50 (ect, ect, ect...)... I think she got WAY more than majority of society EVER WILL RECEIVE IN THEIR WHOLE ENTIRE EXISTENCE! She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth as a black person in america! What the hell more can anyone ask for?! (P.S. I'm black btw for anyone who has a problem with my last aforementioned sentence). :D
@@ielijahmccoy don’t have a problem with your last aforementioned sentence, just that the world be more equal place if we by now do expect some black people to be born with silver spoons in their mouth, about time that we see black kids can get lucky too..
@@summydots the only reason why she has a “silver spoon” is literally because she’s famous, she still had to go through racism and being a child star and a celebrity is overwhelming.. especially after Michael’s allegations it was also hard for her at that time dealing with that- she literally got bashed by her black features, the way she acts and shit like that🌚
I am so glad that Janet FINALLY said her peace about her life. Janet has always been so private and so much has been allowed to be said, rumored and misconstrued about about her so it's really great to hear from her exactly how she truly felt about things and get her perspective. Her documentary could not have come at a better time. She's a legend and it's good that she's still making music and still a person radiating light and not some bitter, brittle, jaded, resentful star. She has a quiet resilience that can be misconstrued as weak or shy, but we all know Ms. Jackson is fierce!! Can't wait for her new music.
After this documentary. I have the most high respect for this woman. She is the Queen no matter what else people say (in my eyes) that was the best documentary I've ever seen by a Artist. It was put so well together by her and her brother Randy.
@Denis F totally agree with you, this was the best I have ever seen and I am 70 years old This woman is just a pure human being. One if my takeaways was how much the media made us believe that this was a family that hated each other and that they were some oddity. This just proved otherwise, they are no different than my family or yours except for their musical talent.
@@keithcunningham3131 unfortunately so, here in NZ the edited parts were where she speaks in support of her brother Michael. Didn't see any of those segments on TV, just fortunate to catch them on FB afterwards.
@@Authencia exactly! Every time they (the entire family) spoke about Janet and the baby, none of them could look into the camera. They all dropped their heads and looked away from the camera.
Janet just seems like a very down to earth lady. I know she's super private about her personal life. She has been through so much and is such a survivor and a true role model. Not too mention one of the greatest artists of the last 40 years, of not all-time. And I am so tired of her taking all the heat and blame of the Super Bowl fiasco and wondering when people will start laying responsibility at the feet of where a lot of it belongs. On Justin. Keep fighting the good fight Ms. Jackson! You are so desperately loved!
Janet is inspiration and proof no matter what ish one throws at you you can come out as complete different person , who is stronger ... I love her and her music

Janet is such an icon and a really incredible and kind woman. The whole Super Bowl fiasco was so misogynistic and unfair, shame on the people who went out of their way to blacklist and shame her at that time.
YES, and the Mpls. Producers Terry and Jimmy really helped get that dancing sound!! She needed to get out of L.A. and Escapade to the Minneapolis music scene at that time.
Its incredible hoy Justin timberlake was hardly criticized and janet blacklisted.... The Misogyny of the industry...... Janet always has held her head high.... She inspires hard working women who have to prove themselves harder than men have to.... My respects to a great singer, amazing dancer and incredible actress ❤️❤️.... A complete artist
Thank you!! She was crucified, blacklisted and pretty much boycotted nearly into ruin while Timberlake had the gall to co-opt Michael Jackson and move on to even greater success. She was hung out to dry while he pretty much avoided any fire (partly due to his being advised to or partly himself to sidestep the issue) . That really nearly undid everything she had done up to that moment, which just shows how "supportive' the music industry really is. She called it, named it, read it and still moved on.
You remember she was supposed to play Lena Horne but apparently a white boy pulling off a pin was offensive .I was never a Timberlake fan and how he treated her and Britney spears really made me see he was a douchebag a-hole
Because Justin went and paid homage to Les Moonves. Les Moonves went easier on Justin because of the old boys network. Janet made her apology to her fans and that angered Les Moonves, because Janet didn’t bow down.
I love Janet Jackson. Her voice, music, and breathtaking performances just show how talented she is and how big her heart is for her craft. Her music is my go to playlist whenever I just want to relax and enjoy my "me" time. I hope that more people get to appreciate her. Pure talent, pure awesomeness! ☺️❤️
I m so happy for Janet that she shared her stories, clears out the rumors from her narrative and words. Like not many people were aware of how she had to face all the uncomfortable situations and racism, how the allegations affected her as well, if she didn't share them probably we would have never known. Wish MJ could do the same. Like how many people know that same Coca-Cola turned down MJ for endorsement because of his race in the early 80s( the reason why Mike was signed with Pepsi later) ?!? How many people know that MJ was arrested for driving a Rolls Royce, the officer thought the car was stolen because a young black teen was driving such an expensive car?! Mike was the biggest star on earth but yet the world doesn't know the real MJ story, they only know the media and tabloid version of MJ.
I did a presentation in my English class, I talked about the meaning in his music, his lifestyle and even why he changed his skin colour. I got a lot of hate for that because it was not long after he died. Got accused of only liking him now he passed (I liked his music through my childhood because of my mum listening to it). People really didn't know about him and judged on what was in the media. They still do to this day. People don't realise how tough he had things, especially his younger years...
@@fergieson32 exactly, so sad to hear that you got a lot of hate for that 😔. This is why we need a factual documentary about MJ even though he is not here to tell his story but the people who knew him personally like his niece, nephews, people who worked with him for a very long time like his securities, and managers.
Reminds me of how Diana Ross and all the early Motown stars were treated. They were HUGE stars, but still had to enter restaurants through the back doors AND were denied staying at local hotels during their tours. They often had to stay with close family and friends.
Yeah so ridiculous how the media blow it out of proportion. It's a nipple who cares. It wouldn't be a story if it were a men's nipple. Admire Janet what an awesome and resilient person :)
There were tines when growing up with Michael's music then Janet's and hearing the terrible stress they lived under I wished I could have offered that hand of friendship they so craved. I knew that would never happen because they were famous but we seemed to live parallel lives that made me wish I could reach out to them. So there fame preventing ordinary people like myself offering a genuine friendship. Fame had never meant anything to me so we all missed out in the name of fame. Love to Janet and I hope she can live the rest of her live with love and happiness to surround her. Her brother was an amazing person and just died far too young. Bless you Janet xx
I had no idea the industry was so unforgiving about the Superbowl situation. I assumed that they would have gotten over it as quickly as the public did. I'm glad she exposed the hypocrisy of it all.
She is so beautiful that documentary made me cry! The Jackson women are gorgeous ❤️ you can see the pain in her face and the longing for her big brother in her voice.. 🥺 R.I.P Micheal Jackson 🙏🏽
Janet Jackson is a living legend one of the biggest music acts to ever live she is a very private individual and don't follow trends and was never desperate for attention and media like to tell lies and make up stories about her which is sick.
I just watched the documentary in Australia and it's worth noting that some of the scenes where Janet spoke in Michaels's defense were removed. There's some discussion going on about it in local fan groups.
Little Sis endured a lot and I mean a lot behind the scenes it was good that she was so private with her life can you imagine what the media would have done to her especially with her relationships just goes to show you that true love is not easy for some...along with being successful everyone just wants to be loved...God Bless Janet Jackson!
Honestly I was wondering what Janet and Michael’s last moments was like since 2009 so I’m glad it has finally been answered ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I grew up with the Jackson 5 and my heart breaks everytime I hear what their lives were really like. They were so young, beautiful and supremely talented. Seeing what happened to all of them, especially Michael, it's tough to watch those early clips. I think Janet, as well as Randy and Tito, are way too kind with regards to their father. I also agree that Janet should not have been the one taking heat over the Super Bowl performance. I hope Janet is happy and at peace in her life.
Indeed that was sad. It was a dress malfunction! Why would just one person be blamed and canceled for that. The industry did her wrong by canceling her ticket to attend the awards. It wasn’t right; not fair at all.
I just really love Janet. I went to her concert last week in Nagoya Japan. That was my first time to go to a concert of a big artist. When I was young, I was told that concerts of big artists were dangerous so that you shouldn’t go. But I finally went to her concert. I’ve never thought that I would be able to go to Janet’s concert, but I did!!! It was like a dream😭💓✨ Thank you, Janet for coming to japan for doing concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you because you are you, Janet !!!!!!!!💓💓💓
1. I’m still side-eyeing Justin Timberlake. 2. Janet Jackson has handled so much drama and controversy with so much grace, dignity and class. 3. She truly look like she wanted to cry when talking about people thinking she was hiding a secret baby and keeping the baby away from its father. She seemed truly hurt that people thought she would do something like that. 4. I’m glad to know that she had a close relationship with Michael Jackson. There’s so many reports that Michael didn’t have close relationships with his siblings as he got older and that’s obviously simply not true.
Gosh, watching the series I forgot how much Janet’s music was my soundtrack at some point in my life. I think the whole documentary was very refreshing and left you with a positive note. Janet is so right when she says that she has realised how incredibly strong she is. She has really stayed focused and poised in the times many people would’ve become chaotic and turn to addictive behaviour. Hats off to her. Brilliant and talented person.
Janet has been dope since day one. Yes, we all knew who she was, but I never thought of her as Michael's sister. I always thought of her as Janet Jackson, a superstar of her own talent. Her vibe, her songs, her look and her choreography are all her own. I have always known however, that she misses Michael deeply.
We are a nation with no geographic boundaries. Bound together through our beliefs. We are like-minded individuals, sharing a common vision. Pushing for a world without color lines. Was my introduction to Janet Jackson. And what an introduction. Such an inspiration to 11 year old me. 15 year old me.....20, 25, 30, 35, and now even 43 year old me. There is no other for me. That statement entering the album solidified it. Each album since has put her more in my musical mind and soul. She is my top, and no matter what.....no one else will ever top her status as my #1 singer of all time. And my life's motto comes form the end of that iconic album. In complete darkness we are all the same. It is only our knowledge and wisdom that separates us. Don't let your eyes deceive you.
I have always been a lifelong fan of the Jacksons, and this documentary was so eye-opening and generously open and candid, that i really loved it. Although her life had painful moments, i think that finally speaking out on those moments, in her terms, was very freeing for her and the family too. ❤️
I always hated how the industry and everyone treated her and Michael. Still hate it. As a little girl, Ik people were trying to hurt and sabotage them and it angered me. I didn’t have to watch the video to know that people were coming in the way of the family, breaking them apart and breaking them down. Smh I’m still angry. I still love Michael and Janet forever and always. Forget the media
@Shadow Play in the Woods I think people don’t cut Madonna enough slack and simply put she has achieved more impact than any other female pop artist, hence the title Queen of Pop. Like I said all the other females deserve their flowers but Madonna remains the undisputed queen.
Loved Janet's documentary. She is a beautiful woman and has a big heart which helped her through those rough patches in her life! Janet thanks for sharing your life with us.
Janet Jackson deserves everything in the documentary even though we had to learn with her life and even learning about the Jacksons and Michael Jackson and what’s their legacy they need justice for what they deserve and what they bring for us and give us for everything Thank you Janet Jackson
Michael has open the doors 🚪 for many people and MTV music videos, Janet and Michael if Janet not jonger was, then there are twins JM JanetMichael our MJ MichaelJanet . I knew that's Janet and Michael has broken the pase for the future ❤😢❤🫱🏿🫲🏻🌎
Yes it is sad , but psychologically speaking, I think it's more of a problem for her. Because she herself said that she had fought all her life to get rid of Jackson's name and to prove that she could be someone like her brothers. La Toya had the same problem. For example, Tito's children were very close to Michael and Taj spoke very beautiful about how Michael helped them record their first album. But at the same time I think there was a competition between the brothers, between her and Michael, to prove who was better.
I enjoyed the Janet documentary, but I really didn’t learn too many new things. I dated one of her backup singers for years, so I got the opportunity to meet up with them on tours and spend a considerable amount of time hanging out. Janet created a Family like environment, she’s extremely polite and sweet w/a wick sense of humor. Always down to earth, everybody was equals. She had a strong spiritual power that she never let go to her head. She stayed humble and grateful, into expressing & releasing her creativity, keeping it real was what her positive energy was about. We were all mature, but youthful coming into our own sensuality, as POC, who have a lot of hangups about exploring our freaky curiosity and she was giving herself permission. Rene & her were a great couple. He helped her to open up and feel confident with her image, but I guess if she was not matching the image of her video, he might have made some comments that made her feel insecure. I guess he thought he was trying to be helpful and trying to be there to inspire and support her. But it may have come off as condescending, but he meant well. I think he was trying to protect her before she heard it from the harsh public. Let’s work on it. Perhaps, she couldn’t no longer make the distinguish between the manager and her husband. The husband loves you no matter what, but the manager is thinking about delivering what is being marketed to the public. A rough place to be in any marriage.
That comment is pushing so hard to defend Rene that I think it's him. His 30-year-old friends are saying he was toxic and controlling all the time. Why should we believe you and all that good intentions?
When you listened to Michael’s interviews, his tones were soft like Janet’s. I think they are the only 2 siblings that were the same; maybe more like their mother. I wish Michael was still here. To be honest when I heard the title, ‘This Is It”, I thought something terrible is going to happen. I truly felt it. He announced it and then he was gone. 😢😢
Janet Jackson's Documentary is a True Masterpiece of one True Super star artist ❤️ We all love Janet Jackson Beautiful 😍 Life Story and we admire Janet Jackson for sharing her life events with all of us fans. God bless you Always Janet Jackson. This is Geraldine Walker from Saginaw Michigan
I’m happy all of this was coming from her not any one else! I’m glad she did this and now everyone can move on. Call Coca-Cola you drop the ball on that one!
I’m glad Janet got to tell her story and that she spoke on Michael the media take thing way out of proportion that wardrobe incident come on it was an accident and even now her saying Michael teased the media blew that up she understood he wasn’t trying to hurt her like she said from her own mouth Janet you are so gorgeous and talented
My maiden name is Jackson. I can totally relate to all the jokes and weird behavior from people. I grew up in the 80's. I remember getting prank calls often because people would look up our house in the yellow pages, asking "Where's Janet? I wanna talk to Michael!" We lived close to Encino in California and my Dad's name is Michael, so yeah lol. I was so excited to change my last name when I got married!
I absolutely love Janet I grew up listening to her music and watching her on TV, I wanted to look just like her. For women of color she brought class and beauty and I appreciate everything about her
Michael, Janet both are icons, and both struggled throughout their lives. Media fucked both of them (more to Michael) I Love them, and i am proud to stan them.
Love the special bonding Michael & Janet had. Mike also shared earlier how they had many things in common and they would come up with the same ideas often. Just saw parts of her documentary and I am in tears. It hurts but glad at least their last message was "I love you".
Broke my heart hearing about her talk about the Scream video with Michael. I firmly believe his "handlers" kept them separated. Just as they did with everyone else.
This was the best documentary I have ever watched. It held my attention the entire time. She is a phenomenal woman. My takeaway was how much the media tried to put the narrative out there that this was a family who did not get along, and gated each other, this documentary has shut that down completely.
I remember having the biggest crush with Janet when she was on "Good Times'( I think)back in the '70's.She had the best smile and dimples.I saw her beauty back then along with a billion other men!!
THANK YOU...THIS WAS BEST BY FAR. JANET IS A FULL SPECTRUM ENTERTAINER .AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL BLESSED ,MAY SHE CONTINUE TO DO WHAT MAKES HER AND SON HAPPY. BECAUSE THATS WHAT MAKES US FANS HAPPY. GOD BLESS HER AND ALL. WHO SHE LOVES.
You should've had a picture of just her. Feels like clickbait with a picture of Michael (too). Conferming things she said about wanting to be her own person and not just His sister. 🙄🤔😒 She's amazing, just as she is 🙌🏾
I love Janet as she definitely is her own woman. But Michael is literally the most famous man that has ever and will ever walk the planet, he's also considered the best and most talented by alot or most people. Like I said, Janet is her own talented and extremely gifted person...But when you are siblings with the literal Michael Jackson it's hard to navigate through the music industry. Janet obviously deserves her attention though-Don't get me wrong, Michael deserves all the attention and respect he's getting, because he's a legend and the best out of the family and everyone else in my opinion-But Janet deserves love to. It's hard for people to look past Michael Jackson and focus on Janet Jackson, I could see why lol. He's basically the most influential and like I said famous and believed most talented artist so I understand the thumbnail. I do agree with you though, Janet deserves her time to shine. Even though Michael Jackson is a unbelievably big and unforgettable name, people need to pay attention to Janet Jackson as well.
Gaahhh I loved loved looooooved this documentary so so much! More Jackson family content!! I loved that Joe Jackson got his flowers and he was humanized. I loved seeing Rebbie Jackson. I liked that Jermaine Dupri featured. I wish there was just a tad more about Janet than about Michael-related things.
That's because he was the brightest star of their family he was bigger than her if it wasn't for her 5 brothers, michael being the star of the J5 and then a bigger solo star there would be no janet jackson period

What the hell more can anyone ask for?! (P.S. I'm black btw for anyone who has a problem with my last aforementioned sentence). :D
They all do esp Mike
I agree! Glad that Billy Jean is STILL #1🥰

It was good but unfortunately edited badly on some places it was posted
@@keithcunningham3131 unfortunately so, here in NZ the edited parts were where she speaks in support of her brother Michael. Didn't see any of those segments on TV, just fortunate to catch them on FB afterwards.

Very similar. It's as if they have the same mother and father. 🤔🤔

She seems like such a sweet lady. It’s unfortunate they have to worry about people liking them for who they are instead of what they are.
Jackson or not Janet is an icon in her own right. I empathize with her regarding the loss of Michael. I lost someone special to me years ago and the pain never goes away fully.

Janet is such an icon and a really incredible and kind woman. The whole Super Bowl fiasco was so misogynistic and unfair, shame on the people who went out of their way to blacklist and shame her at that time.
Yes I agree
Agreed. She was literally the victim and the world victim shamed her for that
Especially since all the commercials were for Dick pills or Sexy ads for products.
It was a stunt and it backfired and then they pretended it was an accident
Going to night clubs in the 80s and dancing to Janet Jackson was everything.
It's racism too
You remember she was supposed to play Lena Horne but apparently a white boy pulling off a pin was offensive .I was never a Timberlake fan and how he treated her and Britney spears really made me see he was a douchebag a-hole
Because Justin went and paid homage to Les Moonves. Les Moonves went easier on Justin because of the old boys network. Janet made her apology to her fans and that angered Les Moonves, because Janet didn’t bow down.
Forget misogyny… if she were a white woman would have been different
I love Janet Jackson. Her voice, music, and breathtaking performances just show how talented she is and how big her heart is for her craft. Her music is my go to playlist whenever I just want to relax and enjoy my "me" time. I hope that more people get to appreciate her. Pure talent, pure awesomeness! ☺️❤️
This documentary really made me appreciate her so much more. She is a true legend.
You somewhat can know about Michael life in his words with his books Moonwalk and Dancing the Dream but it only extends to the 80s and early 90s.
@@fergieson32 exactly, so sad to hear that you got a lot of hate for that 😔. This is why we need a factual documentary about MJ even though he is not here to tell his story but the people who knew him personally like his niece, nephews, people who worked with him for a very long time like his securities, and managers.
@@fergieson32 People are just now understanding vitiligo and even just embracing it as "beautiful".
Reminds me of how Diana Ross and all the early Motown stars were treated. They were HUGE stars, but still had to enter restaurants through the back doors AND were denied staying at local hotels during their tours. They often had to stay with close family and friends.
One of the most important figures in music love I love Janet Jackson ❤
That whole NippleGate drama was so blown out of proportion. The media should be ashamed of themselves!

Yeah so ridiculous how the media blow it out of proportion. It's a nipple who cares. It wouldn't be a story if it were a men's nipple. Admire Janet what an awesome and resilient person :)
And the politicians ate it up, especially Republicans
@sonia harrison I missed hearing and seeing everything about Cardi B and her WAP crew shows. I have to Google this!
Janet and Michael had a special bond. And you can tell she really loves all her family members. She has really allowed us to see her vulnerable side.

Honestly I was wondering what Janet and Michael’s last moments was like since 2009 so I’m glad it has finally been answered
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cried so much watching this. I love Janet more than I can say.

Janet is the pioneering queen of music
"I don't like the weight of that negativity around me."
- Janet Jackson
I have always known however, that she misses Michael deeply.
exactly, this is all so true! they are related but she is Michael's sister just as much as he is Janet's brother!
Scream is my favourite Michael and janet song together and individually... i never doubted him for a second either ❤
I have always been a lifelong fan of the Jacksons, and this documentary was so eye-opening and generously open and candid, that i really loved it. Although her life had painful moments, i think that finally speaking out on those moments, in her terms, was very freeing for her and the family too. ❤️
Still pisses me off that she was vilified for the nipple incident. She was not alone in that.
She is the Queen of Pop and Legend.
No questions about it.
To go through trauma and rise from the ashes, inspiration and a true survivor.
She definitely is a legend and music icon and deserves all her flowers but sorry the queen of pop title belongs to Madonna
I think theres a question...
@Shadow Play in the Woods I think people don’t cut Madonna enough slack and simply put she has achieved more impact than any other female pop artist, hence the title Queen of Pop. Like I said all the other females deserve their flowers but Madonna remains the undisputed queen.
I love you Janet! You express the truth without putting anyone in your family down.

With the Super Bowl incident, Janet is the definition of “grown folks.”
Wow I didn’t know Janet and Michael weren’t super close after Thriller. That makes me sad. Both have such beautiful calm spirits. 💗
Just everything with Michael went downhill after Thriller sadly
@@BlackgirlSani Yeah, Michael was going through his own hell during and after Thriller. I can see why he became distant and more silent around people.
I'm sure that after Thriller, all he did was work. It was his biggest record at the time, and probably took him away from his family.
The problem was Micheal wanted to do his own thing too. The family always wanted him to do stuff with his brothers.
Janet deserves the world she’s so sweet❤️I always loved her for who she is… she’s an icon and made a name for HERSELF!!
Honestly what an incredible and strong woman. I’ve always loved Janet but this made me love her even more
I enjoyed the Janet documentary, but I really didn’t learn too many new things.
But to be honest, why would he even ask that Janet "match the image" of a video? The video ain't real.
Sorry, you weren’t in the documentary and neither were you in their marriage so your words aren’t too credible.

This was the best documentary I have ever watched. It held my attention the entire time. She is a phenomenal woman. My takeaway was how much the media tried to put the narrative out there that this was a family who did not get along, and gated each other, this documentary has shut that down completely.
