    WOW....As a patient who has been under the care of 3 (sequencially) different nephrologists over the past 12 years....I've heard more useful information on this vodeo than all my time dealing with my slowly advancing kidney decline... CKD they say. As a 91 year old..it reminds me of the good old days when one would actually have an hour or so, sitting and having a conversation with one's physician..Those wonderful times (if one paid attention) listening to a well trained and informed doctor was invaluable to the maintainance of our personal health. This video (in contrast to the many scammer-type videos on-line) takes me back to those informative hours with my old Docs. Reassuring information..... THANK YOU!

      No absolutely not... at stage 1 you can beat this!!!! Listen my dad is diabetic type 2 and also had proteinuria - with diet changes - mostly plant based - NO salt and NO sugar - within 3 months he has NO protein in his urine and blood sugar normal! You can do this - dad is CKD stage 4. You are lucky to have thus diagnosed early- trust me. You can make this better with lifestyle changes 🙏🙏

  • @edwardsmith3576
    @edwardsmith3576 Рік тому +2

    The good doctor recommended keeping A1c in the 7 or 8s because he's afraid of patients getting hypos. (Blood sugar dropping to low). I'm not a doctor but I've watched a lot of the beat diabetes channel. Dennis Pollock on that channel recommends type 2s get their A1c in the 5s or low 5s. You could test your blood sugar with a CGM to watch out for hypos. It's just another school of thought. Then you wouldn't have to worry about getting high blood sugar spikes if you're testing before and after meals. This way you would learn the foods that cause the spikes. Then the weight would come off easier and there would be many other benefits. Kidney disease as I have heard it is often caused by high blood sugar. I think there are many doctors that agree with Mr. Pollock on this. However again I'm not a doctor so don't quote me on this.

    • @DADVICETV
      @DADVICETV  Рік тому +1

      I wish I could answer this, but only your doctor can answer this. Part of the problem is that your GFR on dialysis is based on the dialysis treatment. That said, one requirement to get off dialysis is that you still produce urine. So if you still make urine, check with your doctor and see if you can plan to move off dialysis. Good luck - while rare, I have seen people get off dialysis.

      It depends on where your kidneys are at, but I would feel more comfortable getting labs done in 6 months just to catch any issues shortly after they start. If you have no other issues (no blood or protein in your urine), then chances are you are stable and a year may be fine...but I like the peace of mind 6 months would bring.

    Hi ! I have a question. My dad is at Stage 5 w/ 8% of his kidney function. He has High BP, Edema, and anemia. What should he be eating to begin reversal. He does have protein in his urine. Please advise. I just started looking at your channel and there is so much to go through. I appreciate you!!

      An update : he is currently in the hospital . His gfr dropped to 6 . He was feeling nauseous , short of breath, his head was “banging” he felt his pulse in his head . So he is now on emergency dialysis. This morning was his second treatment. His gfr is now 9%. His sugar is generally staying in the 200’s. His blood pressure has stabilized. So now my question is can we get him off of dialysis ?

      Try cutting out sugar, dairy, and salt (opt for pink salt). Eat berries including red seeded grapes and melons. I was the same as your father, I started doing this along with some herbs and so far I'm seeing positive results (I'm one month in). All the best for your father.

      @anacatarina5765 I'm not currently on dialysis. I was scheduled for surgery to insert the catheter next week, but Dr. agreed to delay due to my process. I started taking a couple herbal tonics a few weeks ago that are prepared my a health store. Look up adrenal support, this is something that I didn't know about until going to the herbalist, the Dr's never mentioned this to me and addressing it has made a big difference. I was also in hospital last month with low egfr (7), extremely hbp, nausea, vomiting, headaches. Starting to feel better now due to adjusted meds, diet change I explained before, and yoga stretches that are focused on kidney support. Last week egfr was 9. I'm praying it continues to climb up 🙏🏾

      Each person is unique, so there is no 1 answer. While rare, I've seen people on dialysis for 6 months that improve enough to come off it. Those people continue to produce urine and their kidneys were less damaged than their labs appeared to show. Be proactive with your health care team - they will be able to tell how you are doing and if you may be able to improve.

      A plant based diet is much easier on kidneys. You can absolutely get enough protein on this diet. You’ve got to research this way of eating, eat lower potassium veggies, no added salt, low phosphorus, healthy fat. It’s working for my husband to keep him stable, this & God
