  • I went searching for trout and as I usually do, found a bunch of reds! This was the first spot of the day, less than 10 minutes from the boat launch and for just over an hour it was almost cast after cast. The hot lure was the HH Cocahoe in tuxedo - my number one winter time soft plastic.

Enjoyed the video and your audio is spot on! 👍 I like using. Popping cork with artificial or live shrimp….you have to get the speckle trouts attention. Merry Christmas and have a happy new year. 👍🇺🇸🙏🎄💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

Sorry I didn't leave you some ole smokies or smoky redflakes. Those were my go-to's in those conditions. Nice job son.

Hey, what you left worked just fine ;). I have some of the smoky with redflakes, did you rig those on normal jig heads?

I only keep fish when I need to. It's usually about one out of every three trips I'll stock up.

What type and size skiff do you fish out of? Having a hard time deciding between a fiberglass or aluminum boat

I have an ankona cayenne, it's just about 17' long. I would not trade this boat for anything, but I also had a situation where I had the ability to get a custom skiff. The benefits of this boat are that it's mine, designed and planned by me for my needs. It's also incredibly quiet and I can sight fish better because of that. It also floats in almost nothing, with just me on the boat I was getting around in 6" of water just the other day.
But that all comes at a cost. It's more expensive by a lot, I have to be very careful with it to avoid scratches, etc., and I don't have a lot of space for others. I can only fish two people comfortably (unless they're really small people, then I can get three). An aluminum boat around the same size could do almost everything I can do but would be a lot louder. If you watch other videos of mine, you'll see I can get within 3' of redfish regularly.
The last note on this, this is my first boat. If I could do it again I would start with aluminum before so I could learn how to properly captain and maintain a boat. The mistakes I made are definitely much more expensive on this boat, would rather have made them on something a little less meaningful to me 😂. Hope that helps, maybe I'll do a video on all of this.

Hey man, I saw you out there today while you waiting for SeaTow. How did the day turn out? I kept 13 specks, I could not find any reds. I left that area around noon when the tide stopped and wind kicked up.

Hey what's up man! Not a bad haul. I lost a lot of time waiting on sea tow (not complaining at all, they saved the day) so by the time I got to fishing the conditions weren't so great. But, got my PB trout and ended up with three reds and I think 8 trout. All things considered, that PB trout made the whole day worth it, mistakes and all. Glad I saw you out there and thanks for checking in. Hope to run into you again out there.

    nice--how deep is the water.

Great question. In general that bayou was about 5' deep at extreme low tide. Where I found them stacked, though, I don't know - I never got my transducer over that area. My guess is on the left there's a flat that was about 6" - 1' and then a drop off to 4-5'. Most of those reds were caught at the transition point.
