Hello Steve love the shirt. You gave that finished plant a massage. You probably should do that at the beginning of the process 🤪. Good luck next year. Take care Joyce 💚👩🏻🌾🍀
Hi Steve, a great harvest but not the harvest you wanted, the last time you potted it on you planted it deeper and that might of been where the extra potatoes came from (the same as earthing up in a row, ) great upload, learned a lot, keep them coming, take good care of yourself, kind regards alan…………THE DAWN CHORUS PLOT 🌿
Having watched your progress on this it occurred to me to perhaps think 'Bonsai'. I would submerge the roots into water at each repotting and trim off any unwanted potatoes together with their leading roots leaving only the desired single potato leader, that way the energy would, theoretically, go into the single potato. Anyway those are my thoughts, I may join you in experimenting next year Steve 🤔🤔🤔🤔😁🌱☀️
I do remove all the extra tiny spuds I find at each of the 3 repottings. I wash the root of my bonsai but I've never really though about doing it with potatoes. If I do this again I'll do it with a few pots. I say if because 2022 was a complete waste of time - bad seed potatoes again across the UK. Really poor weights at the giant veg shows.
The Kondor potatoes are very scarce Greta, they almost died out in 2018/19 but one supplier had stock for 2021.Sadly it seems that they may be missing from the market again in 2022. Haha - you noticed the shirt 😀
After speaking to a Giant potato grower, you are right about the single potato challenge methods, will talk to you about it on Sunday. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
Hi Steve that's a great harvest from one potato, shame it wasn't one big one ddo always next year. I might give it a go if I get hold of some decent seed potatoes stay safe my friend 👍 🏴
Beautiful Spuds my friend! They look absolutely delicious!! Why not make a video of you cooking them in a favorite meal? You should check out some soil and amendments that are specifically formulated with the right amount of minerals and organic content already available and ready for chelation for the plants….They have endless amounts of minerals, nutrients, organic farming amendments and even educational information for the No-till/no dig community regenerative agriculture methods using biology and organic amendments. This year’s giant pumpkin was grown with a product called Rootwise Microbial Inoculants They have a fantastic place that makes complete organic soil mixes varieties with transparent heavy metal testing analysis on each soil mix. It’s an American based company called Buildasoil in Montrose Colorado. They have a great information on growing large organic crops.Don’t forget the Fulvic and Humic acids! Do they sell Potatoes Tubers that are indeterminate? I believe this means that they can grow as big as you can possibly grow them without a genetic limit of size. If they only have Non-Determinate Potato Tubers then they can only grow to a certain size genetically.👍🙏😃🥔🍠
Some great info there! Thanks. Yes, we have determinate and indeterminate potatoes here in the UK but we call them "Earlies" and "Maincrop" respectively. The Kondor are a maincrop (indeterminate) so yes, they can grow very large (and store well over Winter) I was using a product called "S-Chelate 12 Star" but I have gone a bit more organic since this video was made and I now use "SuperSoil" - great stuff - full of all the things you mention 🙂 I have made a few cooking with potatoes videos - you can find them in my "Cooking & Preserving" playlist, hope you like them! Have a great weekend

He hates "Clickbait" says Digwell. Then he puts up a thumbnail saying "Is it a giant Potato?" LOL! Might not be the result you desired, but 10lbs in a pot? WOW! 🍺
You never cease to surprise me, next year I'm going to try growing a giant potato like you did in all of my buckets what an amazing harvest. Albert.

Love your T Steve. So interesting and what a harvest from one...if not your giant. I tried to google your giant potato and found nothing.
