I think a factor for value is how recognizable a card is. People will spot a Latios/Latias or Moonbreon across a room. Sunzard is a little goofy but is so obvious when you see it, whereas the PAF and OBF Zards borderline look like the same card from afar. This new Pikachu looks like a run of the mill full art shiny at first glance to me. Nothing too iconic here, but for my money the Exeggutor nails the rainbow borders.
The only way this doesnt absolutely crush it is if pull rates become too easy or thr reprint this into the ground. Otherwise this set is a guarantee with how good it is and how much demand is already there
This is going to be a mini Evo Skies as far as demand and growth. I dont normally comment on card art, but this set is legitmately beautiful. Taking into account the Pikachu, Latias, and the Waifu factor...it's a receipe for a strong set. I got a few extra booster boxes for this set compared to my normal purchase each release.
Definitely not evolving skies or 151 but it might be right behind those sets. See what pull rates are like and prices of the hits but it has the making of being a really good set
Twilight Masquerade is the Lost Origin of Scarlet and Violet. 1 chase card and not much after that. Paldea Evolved is Chilling Reign lite. Lot of great cards, but not a super chase. The rest of Scarlet and Violet is TBD. They are holding back on the top Pokemons (Giratina/Rayquaza/Eeveelutions/Gengar) or putting them in specialty sets which makes the SV era good to great
@@jason113388 I don't take into account Trainers. In SWSH and SV, they tend to fall back to earth quickly. Eevee can be equivalent to Aerodactyl, Ursaluna can be Rotom. What I mean is they are good not great ancillary pieces
I think the Latias SIR is be Moonbreon 2.0 its a genuinely beautiful card and is aesthetic to the eye for everybody. I have 2 of the PC exclusive ETBs pre ordered to keep sealed and I have a booster box to open
IMO sets like chilling reign, vivid voltage, and fusion strike have nothing on sets from scarlet and violet. Blaziken is meh, gengar is cool but not jaw dropping, and what even is the chase in vivid voltage? Compare that with greninja, magikarp, and even terapagos like come on. The arts are on a whole different level It’ll be interesting to see what surging sparks does but with milotic, hydragon, latios/latias, and of course pikachu this could be the best set of the era so far
The pain is exactly why I hated Sword and Shield. I don't want the cards I end up with, and I don't get the card I want. There was a never "when you finally," I just run out of money and don't get it.I'm so glad it's over and don't want to go back ever. I just watched other people buy packs, I still have yet to buy any SWSH. The only one that even looked remotely not like torture was Fusion Strike.
This set is nowhere near good as what people are claiming it to be. This set lost all hype for me when they decided to use 3 dragon slots for an apple, building, and an egg. On top of that not giving flygon or black kyurem an SIR. Huge potential wasted. That being said I canceled my cases for booster boxes and will only buy 2-4. Yes sealed rises but won’t be investing into this set anymore. Singles strictly.
Yeah twilight isn’t that great without greninja and that’s a real fact in my opinion. I really think surging sparks isn’t as good as everyone is saying it is.
Clowns said same things about twilight pre release and early on, as they are about stellar. Stellar has and incredible gen 1 hits and terapagos. They wil flip just like they did on tm Ppl didnt like fusion early on either look at it now
Terra Pikachu will probably end up being around a $100 card, with Latias at about $70. The Special Illustration Rare (SIR) Lisia will be the most expensive card in both English and Japanese, likely settling around $500 for the Japanese version and $220 for the English. This is based on the only other Lisia card, which currently sits at $300 in English and $800 in Japanese. Overall, the set doesn’t live up to the hype. While it focuses on dragon and electric types, it missed the mark. There are very few dragons people actually care about, and the electric types are underwhelming, featuring a mediocre Pikachu and Magneton. This dragon and electric theme had the potential to be one of the best sets ever. Dragon types are often fan favorites, especially legendary ones like Giratina, Rayquaza, Dialga, and Palkia. A dragon-plate-themed Arceus card would have been groundbreaking as the first of its kind. Non-legendary dragons like Garchomp, Salamence, Haxorus, Dragapult, and Dragonite would also have been exciting. Even though Charizard isn’t technically a dragon, including him would have been a crowd-pleaser. On the electric side, we could have had cards for Toxtricity, Electabuzz/Electivire, Pachirisu, Raichu (a seemingly forgotten evolution of Pikachu), Magnezone, Morpeko, Zeraora, and Lanturn. The missed opportunities are huge!
Trainer cards never do well long term. The pikachu is a cool card but it’s not giratina and it won’t be as tough to pull either. The rainbow borders won’t change and this set is being way overhyped.
I'm not feeling the hype tbh. Sure, the pikachu is a nice chase card but the team rocket set that everyone keeps talking about is going to blow this out of the water. Twilight is eh if you ask me. If it wasn't for the popular pokemon being a chase, it would be an "ok" set. Pikachu is a nice chase but besides that, this is a normalish set 🤷🏻♂️
While I agree with you, if twilight masq can hit $170 within 6 months after release, I can see this box being $150-200 by Xmas 🎄. Plenty of money to be made for all!
I think its a little overhyped. The pilachu illustration is good, not great same with the latios and latias. Milotic’s art is amazing but not a popular pokemon. Lisia is a solid full art trainer. Good not great.
Yeah I didn't even realise Archaludon was a new Pokémon/evolution of Daraludon cus I've not played the DLC for SV. Both Pokémon are so forgettable. Im completing the trainer gallery for silver tempest and hate that i have to buy Daraludon cards 😂
Surging sparks is definitely better than the last few set that were released
I dont think Surging Sparks is THE SET…but its definitely the best of the year!
🤡
@@RetroSpectiveMoto you take that back right now!!!
Supercharged mid. Basically vivid voltage 2.0, will be quickly forgotten.
@@Whoareyoucallinggo back and look at both sets then come back and say that again lol
Laughs in 151
Temporal forces is my favorite s/v main set. And some of these are the first big chase cards of these legendarys.

Lisias appeal will be so expensive lol
@brandoncarter2708 it will and that's why I got a few extra sealeds lol. Same with Ultra Prism
Remember Iron Crown? Temporal Forces could be so good but the pull rates are nonexistent
It’s a beautiful card. Hard to pull tho that’s for sure
It's the best set of 2024. When people look back at this year they will likely remember this and TM cuz of the Ninja
yep most likely
So excited for SURGING SPARKS! Pikachu is my chase card for the set. Hope I am able to pull it in either the japanese set or the English set.
Always respect your opinion. But don’t put stellar crown in with shrouded fable 😂 it’s not that bad lol
Nah they’re not together in goodness. Just proximity due to them being back to back sets
I agree Paldean Fates is a great investment.
Surging sparks is nuts . You only really touched on the special illustration cards. There are IR bangers in here too
agreed, tho i don't typically think that IR cards make a set great
Definitely not evolving skies or 151 but it might be right behind those sets. See what pull rates are like and prices of the hits but it has the making of being a really good set
What about the Magneton promo? Is that considered a card of this set?
Should be yep
Couple good cards in Surging Sparks but not the big one, still looks fine set.
Surging sparks is and will be the best set, if not pull the sir pika n I'll buy lol.. he's so hard to get Japanese set
Agreee w/you about LO. Overhyped.

Carmine? Perrin? Kieran? Eevee? Bloodmoon ursuluna? The set has plenty of good cards
If you take out the greninia from tm and take out the magikarp from paldea evolved they have about the same set value

Should I buy Twilight masquerade first before I buy Surging Sparks? Which box will sell out first?

I wish the latios was also an SIR - that would be epic
Thanks for the video! I can't wait for Surging Sparks!
It all goes up just how much and how fast
7:21 no and that SIR Greninja is crap the IR was my chase and I got it. Love my 2.50$ card 🤣
I opened an entire case of scarlet base and didn't even pull all the chase cards so I don't know man. It isn't that easy.
No, I understand. But compared to Temporal Or Twilight, SV Base is much easier pull rates
I love temporal forces
Bet it's my dark horse for sure for sv era. Just like chilling is and always has been my favorite for sd era.
The lack of booster boxes available might drive up the prices of the cards which is sad for my wallet

Why isn’t anyone talking about the Gold Pikachu and Ceruledge. Everyone is sleeping 😴

I think it will be a good to great set. I think it will be in the top 6, but not top 3. Latias and Pikachu will not carry it to the top
