Automotive Mechanic Tool Box & Service Cart Tour

- I've had a lot of request's from my Awesome Subscriber's for an Updated US General 56" Tool Box Tour & a Jamestown Service Cart Tour. I use my Jamestown for my main go too, everything else I leave in my US General as Overflow Storage. I'll show you everything that I'm currently wrenching with at the Independent Shop, Updates on Products That I've been using over the day's, week's, month's, year's, etc. Some products have down well others have not done so well. I'll update you on Upcoming Changes in Cordless tools that I'll be swapping out. I'll show you some recent shop tools that have worked out well and how others feel about them. I'll make recommendations on which products I would buy again or change. I will post the Amazon Affiliate Links down below to some of the products shown in the video.
Answering the question would I ever buy a High end tool box ever again? Funny thing is Yes & No. I knew an Ol Timmer that instead of buying an expensive car or a Classic vehicle as his retirement gift to himself after 35 years plus of wrenching. He decided to buy what he felt was the biggest most bestest tool box from Snap-On just so he could put all of his tools from the time he was wrenching in it to simply just stare at it. I'm hip to that! That's most likely what I'll end up doing. For now, Naaahhh.. If I did anything it would be to upsize my US General to the 72" Top & Bottom with End locker. That's what I'll most likely do. When exactly... I don't know.. Maybe within the next year or so and then I'll most likely sell the 56" which has served me well over the last couple of years.

I love your videos . Your tools look like you really use them . And I like how you use what works not just one brand
Thanks for showing me so many great tools that I need to buy now!! KEEP IT UP AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HHAARRDD WOOKKKRRRRKKKKK!!!!!!
Looks like you've got a serious attraction for magnetic trays. Jokes aside, good set up man. Very practical and straight to the point.
Thanks brotha. Cheers!
The knowledge you are dropping is huge! If I was watching this video in the late 80s it would help me out tremendously.
Thanks Brotha! Cheers!
TJ Miller wants his voice back lol. 👍🏽 Great video.
Great tour. Noticed you Iraqi Freedom bumper sticker and CIB. I got my CIB in Vietnam. Spent 14 months over there with the 82nd Airborne. Thx for your service.
Old vid but I enjoyed it. Watching from Ontario Canada
Tapatio wrench drawer with Ding Dongs FTW!
Justin Dow.. Awesome tour of your toolboxes. Thanks for sharing it..
🍻😎🤙
That cart suits you well! I like how you are open to the different brands. I just ordered the Sunex deep universal impact sockets yesterday. Thanks for keeping it real!
Rocking Roll Brotha. Much Appreciated 🍻😎🤙 One day maybe HarborFreight will make me a matching 72” Us General in OD Green. Would be sick to have the box match my cart. 🧰🙌🍻
Damn. I respect how almost everything is dirty and banged up.keep on keeping on!
🍻😎🤙
Idk why I'm just getting to watching this video. Great walk through brother. Love how those two drawers from the gearwrench set fit great in the top of your box. Great video. Keep it up. 👍🥃👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers Tony!
the trays are very cool great ideas
Glad you like them!
Woohoo! Toolbox tours never get old.
Yes again on the Capri brotha. Luv it.
i see you got back to work hope everyone is doing well both family and work
I like the "Piston Holder".....
Good show brother simplify you have a very nice day United States Marines retired signing off
Nice to watch, and inspiring tool collection. Specialty, with someone with who I share the passion for tools that meant to be used. 😎 THK JUSTIN!
🍻😎🤙
Nice tour...
Thank you 😁Cheers!
That one drawer looked like mine
when I was still at that GM shop,

I updated my phone, I'm the guy

Thanks Brotha! Cheers & Snacks are key to the Mechanic Trade. Cheers!
How does he just leaves his tools out? Blows my mind
Great video Justin. The electrical tape on the universals is classic, learned that my first month in a shop. I have a random 12 point socket for jeep head bolts as well.
Yeah it was a little bit of a challenge to find a perfect match. Because I have some 12 points the barreling or the broaching is too tight to fit around the head stud. I really wanted a three eights that could fit on there blue power was the one that did it first. I have tried a few others with no such luck. Which other brand did you find that works on jeep as well?
Awesome dude cool stuff
I plan on picking up the 56 sometime in the summer, Cant wait!
Love the set up keep it up looks great
Thanks Brotherman
I've had the kobalt set for 3 years and it's a great little set to have
Nice setup! I have a large Matco cart like that and love it. 👍
Great vid.
Been waiting for this, thanks for making my Sunday !
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
Wow, amazing setup Justin!
Thanks Broski!
great tour justin
Nice! I was waiting for this!
Nice vid justin
Thanks Much 🍻😎🤙
On that Toyota filter cap tool there is one for v6 which is the one you have and one for four cylinders. It's still designed the same way to grip the tabs just a little smaller
Nice Mandalorian symbol.
Woop woop!
From one GWOT Vet to another, 'Prishate it.
You could count those finger nails as tools too 😂
I kust got the Snap On metric AND standard size magnetic trays AND work light. The metric work light has the edge, just by a small "rail/bump"...
12volt maakita all day I just lent my out to to a friend for the house, I also have some old Pepsi crates under my box
I have the power probe short finder have not used it at all myself
🤣🤣 that’s the way it goes sometimes unfortunately. I think everyone of us has Purchased at least a half a dozen things The end up as dust collectors. 🤣🤣🍻
Nice tour man.
Thanks Brotha! Cheers & Great stream last night.
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway thank you man. Great to have you in the chat
A serious investment.
Anytime I take something apart, I either draw a diagram on cardboard or draw and put the bolts/screws in the corresponding spots in the cardboard. Makes it easier to get it all back together when I'm done.
Absolutely! Cheers!
Been waiting on this video 🤙🏻 as many blow molded cases as you have I think it’s time to invest in the side locker/s
I had thought about that. I'm deciding whether or not I want to add to the 56" or sell it and go with a 72" US General Top & Bottom.
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway I feel that. I’ve had the 5 drawer cart and loved it, ended up selling it a couple years ago. Decided to go back with the 4 drawer this time and not nearly as pleased. It’s my fault for not researching enough but it’s SO small, can’t even put my screwdrivers in the side slots or keep my torx bits standing up in it because the lid won’t close
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway also have the same matco cart and I wish the two top drawers were just the tiniest bit deeper, even 1/4 would give so much more space for wrenches and stuff. Overall enjoy it though, and loving all your content man, keep it up!
That TDC trick does work but can go south real quick.
Yuppers. Puts you in a pretty good ballpark though before tearing things apart get nice idea if a chain or a belt jumped timing ⏱🍻😎🤙
Look the koken universal joints for something different, there kinda like a press fit ball style of sorts, there really nice to the point I use them more then the regular style. I go to Frank's tools for my Japanese tools
The most valuable real estate on a service cart is the deep upper compartment under the flip top. You are wasting a ton of space using blow mold to store sockets flat rather than vertical. Also the inside surface of the flip top is way more efficient if you remove the existing crap and mount magnetic strips for your most used wrenches. Should have an m12 3/8 ratchet up there as well.
That CIB though👀 @justindow
Toyota has two different plastic filters. I have the motiv oil filter socket.
That estwing 4lb hammer is the same one I bought as a new tech and thought this one will get me by ill upgrade it when it breaks 8 years later still my main line hammer
Same here. 🤣🤣🍻😎🤙
I bought the folding creeper from Wal-Mart for 27 dollars it's cloth but it's more comfortable than my bed I only way 165 pounds but to me it's a great creeper
Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
I see the oif/oef military ribbon sticker what branch?
Army 🍻😎🤙
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway well I am not going to diss the Army but thank you for your service
You’ve gotta check out the spring loaded wobbles from matco they’re beautiful
🤔Those do sound interesting 🧐I’ll ask about them on Wednesday 🍻😎🤙
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway part number for the 3 piece set (1/4, 3/8, 1/2) is S3USL
I started as an apprentice in 1963. Over the intervening years I have tried every gadget and gizmo you can think of. I can repair any car on the Australian market with the same six or so spanners and sockets in the metric range. Before imperial became obsolete here thing were the same in the inch range. The most valuable tools are the specialty ones I have cobbled together to do difficult jobs.
It is total bullshit to imply that you need a million tools for the auto trade............there are sizes in both metric and imperial sizes that you NEVER use. Stuff like this merely creates envy ...............as for country of origin, I have never had a spanner or socket fail as I don't do stupid things with them, I bought a set of GEDORE spanners in 1965 which were made in India and which still serve me well, apart from the chrome plating worn away.
I work on anything between early 50's to Present & I can tell you with my little 10 years of wrenching that not every faster is made to the exact tolerance, nor is it always brand new. Some have rust, grime, have been ground down and have to file the fastener back into a hex shape which is never going to be what it originally was. I can tell you that the higher end companies make sockets and wrenches that are of a tight almost exact tolerance & that cheaper tools are loose as a goose. In "My World" there is never only a one tool fits all. I can also tell you that there are many different types of fasteners that keep things attached. Not just hex. European manufactures use E-Torx & tripple squares, domestics like Torx & E-Torx, Asians like Tamer Torx & Hex in smaller tighter spaces. Some tools make your job a little faster. This has been my experience & I enjoy sharing my content. I also enjoy doing Tool Reviews & sharing my opinion on New & upcoming products. I'm sorry you were dissatisfied. This channel and this video wasn't made for everyone. Cheers & hope you have an enjoyable week.
Did you find out ? Great video 👍🇨🇦
Yah I think I’m confused.. which Frankie? Cuz I called Frankie M and he’s still alive and kicking.
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway Frank M Tech .I think you went to he's meetup party .you did Live's with him sad .to Yong
Those tap socket are awkward and will accomodate a narrow selection of tap, returned them to my dealer, grabbed Snap-On Tap Chuck Set, accomodate everything up to a 1/2" square shank, also works great to drive extractors. For the bigger size taps, usually i'll find a 12 point socket in either SAE or Metric that will fit it perfectly.
Funny thing is I bought the MATCO Tap & Die Kit & the MATCO Tap Socket's & the fitment is just that off... Weird right?
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway All those sockets are the same from Lisle from what I've seen, it's a generic set, probably explains it.
I have that matco tap socket set and it fits all the taps in my older MAC set perfectly. Lol
Hey man, love the great content as always. May I ask about your military service
🍻😎🤙
MotivX tools has a 3 piece spring loaded universal set. I haven’t used mine yet, but they seem legit. I’m just a DIYer not a mechanic.
Oh for sure. For the Toyotas that I can actually use it on the fitment is absolutely amazing. Just does not work on the little four-cylinder there is traverse set
He got enough magnetic trays to supply the whole garage lol
FINALY
Justin where do you get that small roll around cart because that is exactly what I could use working on chainsaws weed eaters and small two-cycle lawn and garden equipment? also would it hold like say for instance a 15 horsepower or 20 horsepower four-cycle engine off of a riding mower? I've got a scissor table I'm working on now building homemade but it's going to be pretty much a electric over hydraulic rays up and down with a foot control style lift but at the rate I'm messing with it, it'll be probably be the end of the summer before I get it done with everything else I've got going on and a major lack of motivation right now with all of this cold weather here in the east this winter and the past Five or Six Winters we've had it made here pretty much but this year it's paying back big time and stayed cold since this past September pretty much LOL
Ahh.. Your going to want to ask my brotha Fill. He's a small engine guy and can better answer your question. Fill's Small Engine Nation:

@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway ok Justin, I appreciate the info and I will check his Channel out a little bit later tonight
Can you make a video on extracting a broken bolt that is recessed/flush?
Have one broken in my rear diff
I'll see what i can do. Cheers!
Mirrors are made by Ullman Devices and sold by everybody. You skipped showing the Ding Dongs in the drawer.
🤣🤣🤣
Lol😅
I'm a pretty big dude, ex NCAA football player (6'4", 280) and I simply cannot find a Griff size creeper! 😂 That Pittsburgh one doesn't work, I took it back same day. Any recommendations?
Same here lol, the middle wheels blew out after a week on mine.
@Doug Edwards I was going to say the same thing. 🤣🤣 Griff you might have to have one custom made Brosuff I’ll ask around and see what Jeff says. I’m sure he’s had to have had some mechanics on his route that share a Height to weight ratio that are also looking for a creeper as yourself. We’ll see what Jeff says on Monday
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway Thanks and looking forward to update brother.
Quick question though, what you doing up at that hour answering questions? Had to be like 3:30 am there...insomnia man? 🤔😎😎
Tapatio comes in packet form? I gotta get out more.
Only @711 Baby! Aske for a handful every time you go & you'll have back up packs just in case lol
Were you get the tapatio in packets
Is that pittsburgh creeper solid or hollow? I'm guessing hollow so just heat it up with a heat gun and flatten it, you only get one back, once it's gone, it's F'ed for life.
I think Hallow. Same as the other sold by Lisle re-branded by Cornwell.
Hey, I remember in a past video you mentioned that your shop is looking to possibly use Kobalt power tools. Is that a no go now? I use Kobalt power tools and they have never let me down. They have a great warranty. 5 years for the tool and 3 years on the battery right out of the box and a lot cheaper than Dewalt and Milwaukee. No problem with Dewalt or Milwaukee but if Kobalt does the same thing cheaper...
No & Yes. I had a lot of comments wanting my opinion on the higher end stuff Snap-On or MATCO & I had a lot of Requests for Kobalt, DeWalt, & Makita. At this time I went with Snap-On & DeWalt. I'll run with these for a year and then we'll possibly come back to the Kobalt. Check out a good friend of mine Duey_didit: ua-cam.com/channels/b6D3aNhHOUM89DDJxupc1Q.html
He has a great Face Book Group Kobalt Nation: facebook.com/groups/1094722110877348
Lot's of experience there. Lot's of great people to ask questions from. Cheers!
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway I have the Kobalt XTR ½" impact wrench that you can get now for $199 that can do the same or more than the Snap On one you just picked up that cost over a grand probably. The Kobalt is a beast. Give it a serious look.
I can't find a good set of rachet wrenches in metric I've bought 6 sets the last year and a half gear wrench changes direction on its own that's aggravating I need. To find a good set
Do you have any of the icon swivel sockets I can see what j think about the stuff if u have used any?
I just picked them up today actually. We’ll discuss it further most likely on Monday or Tuesday of this week
Awesome dude thanks alot iv been wondering about them for a bit iv also been looking at bostitch roofing nail gun an researching info on doing roofs an such learning alot I research so many hours a week on tools an new skills an such keeps urself always trying to learn an efficient on dyi jobs
Just bought snap on 87 piece torx and Allen set do you own it or have you heard anything good on it thanks
The only Allen’s I have by Snap-On are the stubby ones that I showed in the earlier portion of the video. I actually chose to go with the 88 piece Capri tools master torques and Allen bit socket set. They have been pretty bad ass 🍻😎🤙
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway okay thanks a lot they seem really nice maybe I’ll look into them for a home set
👍👍
you must have been working on a Ford, cause of that o2 tool
I believe it was a Ranger.
I need a spark plug socket set, what would you recommend?

@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway thank you
@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway also, I need a scan tool. Preferably cheap and like the one autozome uses, that I can plug in to a computer and print the full report
@@TheShaggyRifleman There's a lot more to scan tools than you probably realize. You might want to do some research on that one yourself.
@@willthecardude6900 I imagine there is. That's why i was asking for a recommendation.
Do you ever miss having this cart?
I had no idea Ken Block fixes his own car, nice
Where you at Justin
I would like to kno if your dealers get mad seeing you buy from different trucks? The snap on guy in my area hates when I buy Matco or mac tools and especially the usa tools guy hates when I buy from them and not him
Yeah things are different down here. Tool truck guys really don’t care who you buy from or do not buy from. They have their route they run their route you’re either going to buy or you’re not. The guys that by tend to get better deals in the guys that don’t buy. I know what you’re talking about that when I lived in Oregon it was kind a like that some guys would get really pissy if you bought from a different truck. But down here in Southern California every rep is cool as ice. 🍻😎🤙
Ketchup
I don’t waste my time trying to buy matco tools why ? We don’t have a matco dealer have not seen one for about 12 years . Snapon we did not have one for about 4 years but I see one running around now . But I don’t but Snap-on anymore to unreliable they just disappear so that sucks . I buy milwaukee tools and get most tools from Home Depot. I have some tekton tools also .
I'm watching this.........I'm so lonely !!!!!

great a bunch of harbor freight tools and 100 magnetic trays smfh
Believe it or not. When I thought 20 was enough... I ran out and started using cardboard. So ya... as a Heavyline mechanic with 5 different jobs going on all at the same time you can never have enough. Also other techs barrow them from time to time. Cheers!
