The deal on the 68” box is UNREAL. Good for that guy.
Right?? Deal of a lifetime!
fr thats HF price territory
I hope this guy knows how envious all us dirty auto technicians are of his clean box clean tools clean work 🤣. Also I have to tell you this has quickly become my favorite UA-cam channel over the past few weeks. You have figured out the perfect niche for us tool and toolbox afficionados going around and touring many different tech's boxes. I haven't seen any other channel do it that way and it's genius. Very cool. Keep up the great videos and thank you!
James, that seriously means so much. Thank you 🙏. And thanks for watching!!
SPEAK for yourself auto tech here 16yr in the field. My box, service carts and tool are cleaned daily whatever gets used. Messy not over here.
Someone’s never been in a hell hole before
@@artmont9043if you have time for that youre not working hard
I've done both, and aviation is cleaner, but when it's dirty it's worse.
Almost everything on aircraft is super cancerous, and a lot of it is caustic/acidic and is actively harmful to you.
But, automotive is way dirty for sure (and I work in heavy duty diesel, and that's even messier!)
Been in aviation 20+ years and never knew engine oil was luminous to UV light.
Not every oil is, specific types, I work on helicopters and we use “Third Generation” oils that are high thermal stabilized and they are luminous to UV!
I missed this one playing catch up‼️👍
Wow, that fist drawer is worth more than all my tools combined. Can't hate on that. Awesome collection! Looks like aviation is where it's at!$$$
Right?? Thanks for watching Mario!
A&Ps are in high demand, I’ve got job offers waiting as soon as I’m out of school and it’s only my 1st year in the program
29-36 an hour to start depending on the airline
Only since COVID it's been good. Before then it was shit. New a&ps are spoiled that they get to go to airlines right out of school when pre COVID you needed to have 7-10 years exp if you were lucky.
@@TheFlick175 im an apprentice right now, so i just do on the job training. do that for 18-24 months and then go for the A&P. where im at now they are paying apprentices like 18 an hour to start.
It’s kinda crazy but aviation mechanics are a breed all their own. My eldest boy is good friends with a guy who’s dad is a helicopter mechanic and man o man his garage and home SnapOn tool chest are amazing! Massive. Every tool imaginable and those were his home units, not his shop on site rolling tool chest. He has or had, died from lung cancer few yrs back but he had i believe 4 or 5 large long Snapon at his aviation hangers he worked out of. 10’s of thousands in tools. Probably close to 150 grand in SnapOn. The man was a wizard and so smart when it came to engines, all engines. But his personal home rolling tool chest looked like this dudes. Always blew my mind. When I would compliment him he was always so humble and nice but he’d say “Victor this is nothing, you would love my lifetime collection for work In the hangers”. He had been at it since the 70’s. Such a good man. Very sad that smoking cigarettes and drinking home brewed beer took him in his prime, he was 56. Young. Such a wealth of knowledge. His only boy, Cam has his dads lifetime collection and it’s insane. Cams boys will be using those tools and Kevin’s great grandsons. Very cool. It’s wild but these guys leave a massive amount of money to their boys in tools alone when the inevitable shows up. Such a cool tour of this man’s tools. Everybody just imagine the knowledge this man has built up. Amazing. I could watch these videos for days and never get bored. 🤩🙌🙌❤️❤️🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Thanks for watching Victor! I’m glad you enjoy them. It really is amazing - the amount you can spend on tools. It adds up quick.
As a boat mechanic, I can appreciate the magnetic struggle
I was on a job at Boeing Everett a few years ago when they were super busy and my jaw dropped when I saw a 18wheeler unload a dozen huge Snap-On boxes. My ‘minder’ was a tech there and said the boxes were preloaded with specific tools, all barcodes and shadow foam to prevent FOD. The boxes had a keypad to unlock them. Probably $70k each in street money.
😦 wow! I’d love to do a tour on one of those!
More than $70k probably. The boxes without the keypads and cameras are that much. But it’s nice because every cutout has the part number of the tool and every tool is etched with something custom. Usually a toolbox number. But SnapOn doesn’t sell them for retail, each sale is unique
If they were specific tools for an aircraft I bet the tools were more than 70k, special auto tools are expensive, I don't want to think how much special aircraft tools are, did they have one box per make of plane.
@@ToolBoxTour Its pretty incredible. I work for the DoD, watching the Boeing travel guys come out is pretty impressive. They load everything they could possibly need. They leave everything behind thats not tools too so the locals love it when they get called in. Replenishes a lot of supplies.
Fod control is crazy tight with their boxes, thats why they wont just use our boxes even though we have everything they could need. Their FOD program is so tight that way if fod is found after they left is almost certainly not their fault.
What is fod?
When I ran a USAF F-16 Inspection Section I got to assemble exactly what we needed. My Lista rep (fantastic company who can outfit your entire shop with cabinets and storage) worked with our excellent (not every rep is and quality varies!) Snap-on rep to get our Lista boxes with laser cut foam for mostly Snap-on but a variety of other tools they don't produce.
Much love for Snap-on boxes but if I hit the lottery I'd go pure Lista for every box and cabinet. They're top tier such that at least one company buys nearly all of them that come up used at auction in my area to overhaul!
I’m right there with you. Lista boxes are built differently than the conventional boxes. Might not look as fancy, but they’re built with a purpose.
This is one of the best tours I've seen in a long-long time. Thanks for the links. Great stuff
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Very cool thanks for sharing . I like it when a good mechanic dosent have to have all snap on tools.
Another awesome tour! What a way to wind down on a Saturday evening. Your tours are 👌🏼 brother! Thanks again for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Just started my first aviation job and am required to provide all my own tools…this video is very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Always end up seeing the same stuff on everybody's tool box tour. This guy was miles apart.
Recently discovered this channel and am loving it. Almost too distracting to have on when I’m trying to work. From this video I bought the flush cut pliers and the safe blow gun.
Wow!! So clean and simply handsome! This dues boxes like the McLaren mechanic his boxes are IMPECCABLE and clean handsome ❤️❤️. Fuuuuuuu!!!!! Rolling tool chest goals, baby! Love it!
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite youtube channels! Really great setup! Love how clean and organized his box is!
Also agree that the knipex flush cuts cut way better than the snap on.
I’m glad you enjoy it! I need to get me a pair of the Knipex flush cuts as well.
Keep these vids coming been waiting on a channel like this for years
Thanks! I’ll keep going as long as I can! 🤘
Watched the live tonight, now I'm watching this episode again going through my tool list. Added a couple things that weren't on the purchase list.
That aero creeper...holy smokes I don't know if I need one but I want one
Awesome, thank you!
my favourite setup after the mcclearn guys. organized and clean
Awesome tour. Crazy how clean everything is.
Thanks for watching!
Can you do a tour of the aviation "line techs" toolboxes? They have unique rolling mobile toolboxes and that would be awesome to see. Most of the ones I've seen are custom made, so that would make it even more interesting.
Really well done video & a nice box, Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Spencer should check out a Koken KO2762 - Flex extension, I've got one which I use for Motorcycles and it can get into places that no combination of extensions and wobbles could make! (as long as its used properly!)
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching!
What a handsome mechanic
Thanks for watching!
Another awesome video. Someone mentioned that astro ratchet on one of your other videos but actually seeing it, now I want one😅
Right?? And for less than $30!
Wow, beautiful!!!
Holy cow this channel is so good.
As an auto guy, will say I love that metal aviation pry tool, use it everyday
Thanks for watching Ray! I need to get me one!
Never thought about aircraft being clean lmao 😂 clean tools! No metric crazy!
Great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Tony!
In dirt bikes and automotive racing safety wire pliers are a huge thing. We safety wire everything.
I do hd trucks and heavy equipment and I actually have and use safety wire pliers. It's not every day but occasionally you'll come across something that needs safety wire. The first one that comes to mind is a PTO shaft with a set screw on a fire truck i had to safety wire, application specific stuff but we do see it from time to time.
That’s really interesting! I’d love to do a heavy diesel toolbox tour. Thanks for watching!
@@ToolBoxTour I swear man if I didn't live in the deep south I'd gladly volunteer. You have an excellent channel and I really do wish I could contribute.
Thanks for that. I never thought the biggest obstacle of this channel would be to find tech to show me their tools! I guess people don’t like to be on video 🤷♂️
I can’t find it now, but there used to be a list on the website of the US Gov of required tools for the F-35 maintenance. Hundreds of line items - socket by socket, wrench by wrench. All Snap-On.
I believe it. I’ve seen hundreds of sockets dumped into a tote. Each with serial numbers grinded off.
Snap-on make a wide line of aviation tools like spline drive sockets no one else matches.
@@Comm0ut spline drive bolts are the bane of my existence… the MS14181 bolt spec is becoming more popular in bigger sizes but finding sockets is tough. A couple of times
We’ve just made our own (referring to the MIL-W spec
@@Comm0utyep and some ratchets that are riveted together
Thats cool u can use uv light for oil leaks!
Nice!
That ¼" Astro is a crazy good ratchet for the price
I agree 100%. Thanks for watching!
Nice video!! you should do more aviation guys videos.
Thanks Emilio! I’m workin on it 😅
Tub o towels cleans tools remarkably. It would probably get those orange matco screwdrivers back right.
Farmers also use safety wire pliers on fence.
This is my dream job. So envious.
Thanks for watching!
A&P school isn’t bad at all, you can go to a part 147 school or do on the job and then test after a certain number of hours
If you want to do it, now is the best time to get in the industry. The mechanic shortage is as bad/worse than the pilot shortage.
Check your area for any community colleges that offer a program. That’s what I’m doing. There’s also dedicated places, with the downside being more expensive.
And as the other person commented, see if there’s an airport somewhere with a mechanic or a repair station that who’d be willing to train you.
If you go the job route, you need 1800 hours and document the experience (basic sign offs saying you did “x” job) and then to test. A school is typically about 12-18months and some will even pay for testing
Ratcheting screwdriver, mirror, flashlight, and Vim dogbone with a 7/16 socket covers about 90% of aircraft maintenance. The other 10% is that box.
The chrome is so shiny
Need more tool box videos haha
Workin on it! Sounds like you did some binge watching 😆
@@ToolBoxTour hell ya lmao
Astro Pneumatic makes the suction cup magnet for the areas where you magnetic light won’t stick.
Genius! Thanks for watching!
Good option too is a clip/hook or a clamp. Not everything is smooth
12:28.. they're called 30/60 wrenches..30° and 60° angles..or some people call them hydraulic fitting wrenches
30/60 angle wrenches! Which i need to buy!
Capri’s got a set of 30 60s in SAE for like 134, I’m gonna be getting those for my box instead of the snappys
now i have to get this astro 1/4 drive ratchet , for 1/4 price of snappy one, thank you
Should come check out a big airline mechanic's box! My stuff is similar but still lots of differences
If you’re serious, hit me up on instagram @toolboxtours or email me at toolboxtour@gmail.com 👍
Name & part number on the socket ratcheting organizer tray ?
I would use a liteband headlamp in aviation! Since no magnetic metal
Oh good idea!
Hey man that tite reach product is a straight rip off of the original called the hande clamp. The hande clamp is also made right here in the USA!
Anyone know that brand and part number for the speed handle? Ive been needing 1 with a big circular end like that not the thin handle most come with.
That is so neat to see what tools the private sector uses on aircraft. Is it a requirement to have an A & P license?
Yes and no. To sign off work at most maintenance shops you need an a&p (a=airframe, p=powerplant). But you can work for a 145 repair station and use their repair station license to sign off work
You can totally get started without your A&P like Mr. Whale said, but if it’s going to be a career for you it’s definitely worth it to spend the time & get your A&P
Dang I need to go into aviation dudes making money
You needs suction cup for your lights
Someone used to make one that was suction cup on one side and steel plate on other side for a magnet
Oh that’s genius! Thanks for watching Neil!
To clean screwdriver., tub of towels might work , or maybe hand cleaner with that grit in it and stuff brush
Love the tip Mike!
Where’d he get that small everyday tool carrier thing that goes on the belt?
Does anyone know what the belt organizer pouch at 5:39? Would like something like that!
180 for some wobble extensions I got the exact same thing a hf for 15 dollars. Has all the same feature the snap in has and it comes with more than 3 piece it comes with 9
The quality is not the same. And no, the Pittsburgh set isn’t wobble plus. But for $15, that is some good value 👍
Awesome tool box, would love to see more aviation tool box tours! @ToolBoxTours
Any tips or suggestions on how to be able to afford a nice toolset when you just graduated from A&P school? I have all the tools that I bought for school. And none of them are “high end” like snap-on etc. I know that I’ll get frowned upon whenever I start working. Is that normal when you’re just starting out, and just build a nicer set of tools as you progress in the industry?
I’ve never been an a&p mechanic. However, I was an auto tech for a long time, and I never shamed anyone for the tools they had. Buy what you can afford, and upgrade when they fail. There is no doubt that some tool brands will out perform others, but believe me, anyone who shames you for the tools you own is full of themselves.
HORRRY COWWW
I didn’t know what this was. So I said it out loud. Had me laughing 😂
I dunno how you got 30 minutes out of this guy, was in such a rush to finish
awesome tools, just surprised that for an aviation mechanic no torque wrenches.
Company will have them in there “tool room” for you to check out because they are all in a calibration program that a single person isn’t going to track and pay for
Been in aviation for 7 years and guys in corp. don`t understand the fight of airline guys
Care to elaborate?
It's like a different industry. Airline guys generally get hammered, high pressure, dirty, rubbish conditions, heavy work, night shifts, grotty company tooling. I work in corporate and pretty much get paid to chat shit and drink tea for twelve hours a day, when I see the airline guys in the carpark at shift change they all look at least 10 years older than they are, like the living dead shuffling along.
"Locking wire pliers"..….... "Unique to aviation"......... 😂
Nice box though 👍
Can someone PLEASE tell me the name of the song at the intro? I would be SO incredibly grateful! Many thanks

@@ToolBoxTour Absolute LEGEND! Thank you!!! :D
What brand are those serrated allen wrenches? Need those in my life people cant help but strip servo clutch caps..
They’re made by Husky. Part number HNSHKSM18PC
Tries to deny his snap on addiction lol
He skipped over them but what are the two power tools in the top drawer? I know they dont use impacts in aviation, so not the usual tools to see in a toolbox
Those are both snap-on flashlights 👍
I’ve noticed with aviation guy’s pretty much everything is chrome i work with hd suspension i never touch anything chrome at all its all impact
Very interesting he’s got medical tools sprinkled in there. Those Forceps are way better than tweezers. I wonder what jobs he uses dental picks for.
Yeah! I should have asked! Hopefully he chimes in with an answer 🙂. Thanks for watching Mark!
Dental picks are absolutely amazing. I use them often in the automotive industry because of how sturdy they are.
Not the guy, but for cleaning threads on screws, pulling out old o-rings you’re going to replace, etc
@@buttfingerblaster I like that idea of using the fine tip picks to deep clean threads.
If you change jobs how in the world do you transfer a toolbox like this?
I want to know what the bit adapter is on the SnapOn Speed Handle. It's 1/4square to 1/4 hex, but I'd like to know the maker of that particular design.
Lol the one tool that I didn’t list in the video. I’ll see if I can find out.
@@ToolBoxTour Thank you!

Where can I find that soeeder wrench? It looks like it has some sort of ratcheting attachment as well
You talking about the tool about 4:30 or 7:50?
@@gtcam723 The multi-position ratchet is nice at 4:30, but I am curious about the snap on speeder handle at 7:50. It has a ratcheting adapter that I want. It’s the blue attachment I just can’t seem to find.
@@gtcam723 Update: here it is Titan 12108
@@jackprime2744 ahhh got it. I started looking for it last night after I saw your comment. Haven’t found it yet. Got me thinking that I may want one.
@@jackprime2744 So far, it looks to me like a Snap On 3/8 speeder with a Titan 12108 adapter on it. Haven’t figured out which socket/end yet.
What is the name of the song at the intro 0:10? Any feedback would be appreciated SO much, love the tune!
Working on school buses in America and I also rarely use metric stuff. I use sae way more often.
That’s interesting! Thanks for watching Ryan!
I hate that there are 2 different standards for tools. I'm on the opposite spectrum and work on Japanese vehicles where everything is metric. SAE always seemed to confuse me.
Same! I rarely use SAE unless I’m cracking a brake bleeder screw open or something.
What's the name of those wobble bits?
The part number is in the video 👍 Thanks for watching!
Ive never seen an aircraft tech not have countersink cages, rivet gun. Rivet sets, pneumatic squeezes, cherrymax gun, die grinders, 90deg angle drills, clecos, etc etc, etc.. where is all that?.
thats all for sheet metal, at least the place I work we have people specifically for sheet metal repairs
@sergeantdog3255 makes sense. Seen this many times. Glad you replied so i dont ha e to wonder. Never worked in MRO. Only mfg so guess thats why i didnt think of that.
0:10 can I get the name of this music?
no torque wrench?
In aviation all torque wrenches are calibrated items. The shop you are in is responsible for providing them with the calibration date/serial stickered on it. Its a huge no no to use an uncalibrated tool and would be a violation in the eyes of the FAA.
3500 for an EPIQ, CRAZY DEAL
What's the song at 0:12?
Step into the Haze
Airplane tools are so expensive ☠️
“I don’t even care about brands I just like what’s cheap“ says the guy who pissed away 15K on a snap on toolbox
He says in the video he paid $3500 for a $15,000 box.
@@ToolBoxTour oh well there you go🤷🏻♂️
lol i have that same blue point plier/cutter set I'm not happy with kickin around my box. Terrible quality
I thought aviation mechanics had to have everything foamed so you don't leave a tool behind? I must be ignorant here.
That makes two of us. I’m guessing it’s different business to business? I know forsure the military requires shadow foam and every tool has to be accounted for before the plane can leave the ground. Thanks for watching Mike!
You are right with most places, its a bit unnerving to me seeing that many unshadowed tools but to each their own, all of mine are shadowed and engraved with my initials and a four digit number, and each location is numbered so anyone could look at my tool sheet and tell what tool belongs where, (this is all required by my employer) some places require a pre and post shift sign off to insure all your tools are accounted for, (also required where i work) its great for doing quick inventory of your box but it kills a lot of drawer space
Great tour, but the music is repetitive to the point of being irritating.
Got it. Thanks for the feedback! And thanks for watching!
