I’m so happy for you! As a single mother, we work to make sure a roof is over our children’s head. I was in a studio apartment in The Bronx and I slept in the living room and gave my daughter the room. When I saved enough money for a down payment, the Lord blessed me with the most amazing place. I never thought I would have a mortgage but I do. The feeling is amazing. Good luck!

I’m a person that was born and raised in Brooklyn went to high school down south and now back in Brooklyn and I definitely know the feeling of be able to get out. Cried many of days from things I saw the EMTs had to go thru to transport n try to save a life as wekk as things pts went thru in er setting. I was much younger. Jazzy a island is a stand alone item, what you have is a kitchen Peninsula. It is a unit with a worktop that's attached to a wall, similar to an island but with only three sides of access. Love this for you not being a smarty but just wanted you to know the difference since you asked what it is called
And no the microwave will be fine, make sure the bottom stays clean you don't want nothing steaming in your food. And the ice will be fine lol lol and you don't use the first ice on a new unit, you throw that away and use the next batch.
The rooms in the basement is called and inlaw suite, sitting area, bedroom and bathroom, or can be used as a den to go to instead of the living room, also can be used for guess when they come, Some make it another master suite, I am jealous wish I had and inlaw suite. And yes closets are in bedrooms, that is a nice size walk in. And yes, car, storage whatever you want, my car is in the drive way storage in the garage, lol.

Icemaker: The ice is cloudy because it's the first water/ ice through the tubing.. Dump the ice, let it refill, dump it & refill a few more times and the ice will clear. Same with the water. You & the kids are going to love it. So happy for you!
PS - an excellent & cheap way to clean your stainless steel & keep it fingerprint free longer is....BABY OIL! No kidding. Just dab some on a soft cloth (old t-shirt or towel), rub in with the grain (always rub with the grain) then wipe down/polish with a 2nd clean cloth.
Coming from Brooklyn myself as an immigrant here from Trinidad, with no support, your story resonates with me. Been here in Georgia (ATL) all my adult life. And I know the feeling of coming from living in a brownstone 30 deep. I’m used to it now but in the beginning shit was so crazy and humbling. Like what people have for the price instead of totally different depending on what are you stay. Proud of you girl.
