I remember that incredible team with Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton and Detlef Schrempf. I hope someday the Sonics will be back because it's the best team of NBA.
What makes this even more impressive is that in that era, players played hard and with intensity on both ends, so doing stuff like this on offensive end was even more impressive
Oh yeah, tremble with fear at Mark Eaton's offensive capabilities, and you wouldn't want getting clamped every night by Kevin Johnson either as he holds you under 50 points.
@@scottipippen6554 Thanks for reminding me about that possible trade in 1995. I despíse superteams! But seeing Kemp and Michael play on the same team kind of makes the mind wonder??
Kemp was one of the few players that ALWAYS dunked like he just hated the rim. When he dunked, it was like he wanted to break the rim. Only guys like that right now are the Lob Bros and Quincy Acy.
Kemp's overall year-by-year stats were never overwhelming by any means...never a top scorer and/or rebounder (but still very good), compared to the competition...rather, his pure athleticism and over-the-top, thunderous slam dunks could completely change the complexion and momentum of the game...especially in Seattle, where the fans were almost drunk with their enthusiasm for those 1990's Sonics teams. One of my favorite players from his era!
Nope...they lost in the '96 NBA Finals to what was arguably the greatest team in NBA history. The 72-10 Chicago Bulls. The Sonics actually put up a decent fight in that series (they won 2 games), but there wasn't really a team that could have taken down the Bulls that year.
His stats always dramatically went up in the post-season too. And I think he improved his stats in almost every category for like 7 - 8 years strait. At the end of his hay-day they said he was better than Karl Malone and the best PF in the league. His post season performances were better than Karl's. Those were fun days.
I don’t follow sports and basketball anymore. But my God, do I miss the 80s and 90s basketball and hockey lol. Intensity, emotions, rivalries, skills... they let them play the game and I could watch it all day if I could. To me, it is pretty hard to pick between Kemp and Wilkins. Both were outstanding dunkers
Brought some SMOKE actually sounds pretty cool. Yeah, people used different phrases. Imagine that. And they were able to express themselves articulately using actual words, instead of dumb acronyms. LOL!
I'm a Bulls fan, but I remember how loud that Seattle crowd used to get when Shawn Kemp would start getting lobs from GP. They had the hottest most exciting team in basketball, sad that they got basketball taken away.
I was a big Bulls fan back in the day. I remember gathering with all my friends one year to watch the dunk contest solely because Kemp was in it. I also remember that he gave Rodman and the Bulls fits in the Finals. We got through it, but some individual matchups aren't good and when Kemp was on Offense we couldn't figure out how to contain him. It's been said a trillion times now.......but god dang 1990's sports were ridiculously good and around a billion times more physical than now. Goons in Hockey......Football players being laid out if they go up high for a ball or go across the middle of the field......and Eastern Conference Basketball was very physical.....heck.....I remember Pippen getting dragged off the court becasue he got knocked out and the players were coming back to the side of the court where he was and he wasn't moving. I understand that everyone in every sport back then probably got a concussion at some point...heck......probably more than one and that's not good........ but i miss it soooooo much!!!!!!
jasun calimag Nope. There are a lot of rules about taunting now. That's an automatic T. Even hanging on the rim can result in a T . Kemp would've gotten a lot if he played now :)
Nique is the only other dunker that can do that, actually that was dunk of the night on a Friday night on TBS and Ernie called it, I thought it was Nique.
Best in-game dunked ever. And he did this in an era where defenses put up brick walls at the basket because defenses so great they got good technique physical and took away easy layups/dunks. Imagine if prime Kemp played in today's NBA? He'd dunk all game long it would be like he was in a dunk contest.

I'm brazilian and my favourite team was Seattle Supersonics - they have the colours of brazilian flag and they are from the land of Grunge Rock. I remember that incredible team with Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton and Detlef Schrempf. I hope someday the Sonics will be back because it's the best team of NBA.
Yo también soy fantástico de los Sonics. Merecen volver
I agree loved the old Supersonics :)
Thw supersonics are gone they were replaced with the thunder
legao irmao. yo vivo en seattle
yeah fuck OKC
To look Kemp at this era was epic! Now only on videos is not the same.
What makes this even more impressive is that in that era, players played hard and with intensity on both ends, so doing stuff like this on offensive end was even more impressive
no 😹
Those were men's jams and lobs. What a super highlight reel. Always great to rewatch it.
Oh yeah, tremble with fear at Mark Eaton's offensive capabilities, and you wouldn't want getting clamped every night by Kevin Johnson either as he holds you under 50 points.
They had to be more intense because they weren't as good as today
He's not my favorite player, but he's my old time favorite, nastiest dunker who ever played the game.
...great dunker, no doubt, but doesn't hold a candle to Vince. VC done all those dunks better.
Dominique Wilkins, Kemp, and Vince Carter top 3 dunkers of all time in my opinion.
I watch this at least once a month. The Bulls have always been my team, but the Reign Man is one of my favorite players ever.
yup, I feel the same way
And to think the Bulls almost traded Pippen for Kemp.
Same here:)
I hade Pip, MJ..and a Shawn Kemp jersey on my wall. Actually i still have them, lol..
100% me too!
@@scottipippen6554 Thanks for reminding me about that possible trade in 1995. I despíse superteams! But seeing Kemp and Michael play on the same team kind of makes the mind wonder??
Holy Smokes! 😍My favorite NBA era... and one of the most spectacular players ever played this beautiful game!
** SHAWN The Reign Man KEMP ** 👊
I think there was something wrong with his gravity..
ya... he had it turned off!
Cosimo De Medici hahaha hell yea he did
Kemp was one of the few players that ALWAYS dunked like he just hated the rim.
Supersonics won a ring back in 1979, but that's their only ring.
that sounds like some real hatin..........fuck outta here
Kemp's stats were limited by foul trouble. He'd often sit out an entire quarter.
His stats always dramatically went up in the post-season too. And I think he improved his stats in almost every category for like 7 - 8 years strait. At the end of his hay-day they said he was better than Karl Malone and the best PF in the league. His post season performances were better than Karl's. Those were fun days.
The Sonics play-by-play guy was special. I love that he called them all jams and slams.
Kevin calabrios calls were epic in the 90s - as good as the dunks
Kemp is prolly number 5 on my all time dunker list behind: 1. Dirk 2. Stockton 3. Ryan Miller and 4. Shawn Bradley
Hahahaha!!!
I'm like Dirk, Stockton? Wtf? Lmao
STOCKTON? Dafuq he never dunked,ever
jasun calimag Bruh......
Funny...Bradley had mad hops!!!
Awesome stuff. Kemp was always my favorite player when I was a kid
THis video never gets old..!!!
...KEMP... THE REIGN MAN...!!!
Both were outstanding dunkers
anyone else come here after he got arrested for doing a drive by?
I did, I always wonder what goes wrong with retired athletes. He clearly ran outta money and mind went left. Sad day but Kemp was nice on the court
@@corgisuede4808 what exactly happened? It sounds like you know
@@TRAPLIFE4 nah idk nothing I thought he was broke, but he's not most likely was defending himself in Seattle.
"He brought the SMOKE." We said that back in the 90's? Lol
Lol
Yes.
Brought some SMOKE actually sounds pretty cool. Yeah, people used different phrases. Imagine that. And they were able to express themselves articulately using actual words, instead of dumb acronyms. LOL!
3 plays from 1993-94 and 3 from the 1992 playoff series against GS
Watching Shawn Kemp dunk still gives me chills to this day. He was so explosive and exciting to watch.
Imagine if he never went to drugs in early 2000s. He could have gone down as one of greatest players ever imo.
In my top 3 dunkers of all time along with Vc and Mj!
Sorry no Dominique.
kelvin ware no blake? c'mon i knoe you guys like the old players more.. but no blake griffin?
Fake ***** ... yeah... but i'm still right tho
Janinho897 Blake Griffin? Since your on a shawn video go look at the one when he talked about Blake end of discussion
d.wilkins.kemp the top 2 there the only 2 that u see do all kinds of monster dunks in traffic,
.....
Oh my lawwwwwwd.
These dunks were straight murderous.
Straight yammin on folks lol.
Too hot for TV
They don’t make them like this anymore , Actually they never did.
I'm a Bulls fan, but I remember how loud that Seattle crowd used to get when Shawn Kemp would start getting lobs from GP. They had the hottest most exciting team in basketball, sad that they got basketball taken away.
Jon .Molina the OG lob city
Word man... I still don't have a favorite team nor favorite player, Seattle Supersonics 4ever, I give a damn on OKC
He would've gotten a technical for half of these in today's NBA.
Bcas in the 90s the game was played by the man with boooolls😊 . Looking now .... " you can't touch me " 😊😊😊
What? How for what reason? These are legal according to todays standards
jasun calimag for taunting. #1 surely will have him called for technical amd some fine and suspension.
jasun calimag Nope. There are a lot of rules about taunting now. That's an automatic T. Even hanging on the rim can result in a T . Kemp would've gotten a lot if he played now :)
I don't know if I've ever seen #3 happen in Basketball ever, let alone in an NBA game.
That was absolute beast dunk I agree but look at D.Wilkins in game dunk highlights as well.
+Yogen Grg I know, Dominique is also a freak, but Kemp seemed more powerful.
he is my cousin
Nique is the only other dunker that can do that, actually that was dunk of the night on a Friday night on TBS and Ernie called it, I thought it was Nique.
I had to rewind that to see if I saw it correctly
That's a bad man
The Rainman some of the most powerful dunks in the NBA.. u know u dunkin when players on the team u playing are amazed 👏🏿
Damn I miss this NBA
shawn dunking with the glove talking trash.
👊🍻
Gary to Shawn one of the great duos back when NBA was fun to watch
Damn that man could dunk
Fav one is of him reverse dunking on Rodman 97 or 98, I forget.
1996 NBA Finals. Kemp gave the worm a human facial dunk.
The jam at 1:52 could win a slam dunk contest it was so rad. Underrated one right there.
I miss the Seattle SuperSonics!!!2019😎
Kemp was Zion Williamson before Zion Williamson. I seen both play,so I know what the fuck I'm saying
Kemps dribbling and ball handling was amazing for a big man!! Most athletic PF of all time!
0:16 RIP Cliff Robinson :(
RIP Cliff Robinson
Low key guy, but a solid player.
Best in-game dunked ever. And he did this in an era where defenses put up brick walls at the basket because defenses so great they got good technique physical and took away easy layups/dunks. Imagine if prime Kemp played in today's NBA? He'd dunk all game long it would be like he was in a dunk contest.
Dunker not dunked
Nope. That'll be Vince Carter.
Bob Hope Nice of you to provide a wrong answer. In reality we know Shawn Kemp is a much better dunker. Keep living in dream land.
Jay Zee Ok, buddy.
Bob Hope ROASTED
The pump fake reverse jam against the Nicks is probably the best dunk I've ever seen in my life. You could not dunk more impressively or beautifully
If Kemp dunk on todays nba players, they won’t be able to play for the whole year or more 😁
Always loved watching him. I think he has a case for GOAT in-game dunker honestly.
1:52 will always be his greatest dunk and a top ten in game dunk of all-time. All-time.!
That was just unreal ...most people do that clutch move with no reason but now somebody tried to block him...what a monster jam. In a dunk contest it would get like 50 points...and in a game?!...Shawn Kemp a fucking legend
1:25 i like that respect
The most athletic big man ever in the NBA. He was super fast for a 6'10" player, could run full court and dunk over anybody, and the swag was epic.
Well said, that pretty much sums it up. The Reiiiiign Maaan!
Too bad these days they call technical for taunting, it was nothing but entertaining people
Nope - LeBron is the most athletic big man ever - and it's not even CLOSE!!!
@@cryptojedii LeFlop :) crying pussy. Shawn or Dominique Wilkins never flopped like that. He is a good player no doubt, Kemp was something special though. most of the Leflop`s dunks are boring. He used to jump crazy high though.
@@cryptojedii are u ok bro?
Shawn kemp played in the nba like when we were kids in the backyard on the lowered rim dunking on our friends every time. Legend 🤘
LOL twenty years later and the Warriors still can't play any defense
Austin Mackin dude chill out man it's just a joke. my goodness...
fluffynoses lmao
fluffynoses I guess it doesn't matter, if you have 5 all-stars. And they still continue to keep adding more people to the genetically engineered team, in order to win.
Shawn Kemp is THE BEST posterizer of all time! Better than Lebron, Amare, and Blake. Yeah I said that!
Dominique Wilkins my friend
@@iamOAKland Kemp could handle the ball much better than Nique too which enable Kemp to attack the basket from just about anywhere. Plus Kemp had a little more power to his game as well. No disrespect to Wilkins.
Shawn AND Vince, my man.
@@ernieadams1184 Give Kemp the lead vote if you please? Whether it was the lob, a rebound dunk, the open court jam and most importantly just flat out (attacking the basket in traffic) Kemp did it all the best. Vince was a great dunker. But alot of his great dunks were just in the open court. Just my opinion.
AZ HOTTEST 602 Vince ????
Absolutely one of the most viscous finishers ever. He played pissed when he was young.
My favorite player of all times, Seattle all the way.
My favorite is when Chris Gatling actually shook his hand
yea man
Kemp was the best in game dunker of all time. Hands down, not even close!
someone forgetting Vince...
Dominique "Human Highlight Film" Wilkins
Vince Carter was easily better.
Shawn Kemp is the best in-game dunking power forward ever is a more accurate opinion. Though some might say Blake Griffin.
Vince? Bryant?
@@kole0117 difference is back in the days of kemp, they got to hammer people without getting a foul...vince was good but kemp was awesome, to bad he screwed up his career with drugs.
This was 10 technical fouls for after dunk reactions in 2019!!!
Kemp was an absolute ferocious Dunker and a great ball handlers truly one of my favorite NBA players ever along with Kevin Durant, Vince Carter, Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
I cannot believe you didn't add Kobe Bryant in that list.
Kemp never broke a backboard not because he couldn't, but because he didn't want to. Nobody dunked harder than Kemp in the history of the NBA. Yea i said it.
Shaq..
I definitely agree with you on that!
+silvermask123 shaq didn't dunk harder, he just weighed alot more and hanging on the rim
Deandre Jordan and Russell Westbrook was pretty good too
Agreed...nuff said!
His best dunk was on Rodman in the finals and its not even on here!
Rainman was the best as he typically did his best dunks in traffic.
Reignman*
Rainman was at his best on the blackjack table with Charlie Babbitt.
He did it with so much style. Unmatched to this day.
I remember he had a sweet dunk on Rodman in the finals.
That was huge - top 10 for sure !!0
That Sonics announcer was awesome. I love the commentary on the last dunk!
Was my favorite player as a kid. Had 3 of his jerseys. Glad he was able to turn things around in his life
Me too. Had his Seattle home jersey. An allstar jersey and then his USA basketball team jersey. Loved them all. I grew up in Ohio where Supersonics swag was hard as hell to find but when I did I scooped it up.
This didn’t age well
@@Giodude530 yes, because I can predict the future…
Kemp was no joke! Going up strong to the basket was an understatement for him!
