Dunks are great, but his reactions to his own highlights are next level.
his strut and swag after the dunk is entertainment
I agree with you. Kemp's power roars after a dunk or block shot are f...... Awesome!
I was saying the exact same thing
I swear it was bro On God
Although a little bit unsportsmanlike it was right righteous
Vince Carter, Dominique Wilkins, and Shawn Kemp most spectacular dunkers , in my humble opinion. I know there's more but my top 3.
You are 💯 right
Lebron Blake Zach for 2010s
@Jojew Zach is 24 YO
@Jojew You really just said LeBron will be forgotten in the 2020's?? Ok buddy...
Jojew wtf are you smoking?
Kemp’s athleticism was simply amazing!!!
Not ashamed to say this makes me teary eyed. My teenage years were from 93 to 99 so watching these old sonics clips are unbelievably nostalgic. As a native Washingtonian, this video is amazing. Thank you!
Fam this when basketball was fun to watch and I was a teenager from 93 to 99 so I feel wat you sayin...
Same teenage years as well. Perfect age to see a lot of great basketball!
Me to dogger.
In his athletic prime, Shawn Kemp was an absolute monster.
Reminds me of giannis
I agree, I had to choose two words to define Shawn Kemp, those two words would be rim rocker!!!
Mid range game was underrated as well
Exactly he can actually shoot the ball.
Was *the monster!
My favorite NBA player. Period. Every dunk looked like he was practicing for the dunk contest.
One of the most underrated power forwards of all time. They show all his dunks but later on he had a nice 15ft jumper plus the baby hooks. One of the highest ceilings never reached
My man KEMP! A man who does NOT know what a weak dunk IS! ALL his dunks were simply ELECTRIFYING! Respect! 👍🏿
Loved his energy man, he knew how to hype people up!
How can you be so smooth, yet so powerful? This man is gifted
Yes he was!!!!! I got to see a lot of his games....that was a blessing to see!!!!
Nice description, totally agree ;)
yep, power and finesse
The best of best that's all I can say .
Kids need to do their research on this guy because Kemp was that dude overall. Nasty high flying dunks was his specialty.
It was all the people he dunked on. Or just Lister on burner UA-cam accounts.
Too bad he was in love with the coco
Before zion this dude had been doing it
@Tee Snacks true, if if if, he had laid off the cocaine and cheeseburgers, he would be the ultimate small forward ever, up there with Oscar.
@@itsmegreicey4006 Zion isn't the explosive shot blocker Kemp was. Still time will tell
The dunks and blocks you always remember but I forgot how good his handle was, damn. Dude could put the ball on the floor and move. With his speed and athleticism, he is one of the few bigs from back in the day who would absolutely thrive in todays game.
I believe this era big men would kill all the big men today.
@@thepanther543 no doubt
@@thepanther543 exactly
He would be ejected under today's rules after about 5 minutes

That reverse dunk against the Knicks is one of the best dunks in NBA history but never seems to be talked about
He spoke about that dunk. He said he was having a bad game and took it out on that dunk
i always remember that dunk. watched it on TV and that dunk was difficult and spectacular. shocked to not see it on top 10 kemp dunks. i put that dunk in top 3 of kemp dunks.
My favourite ever dunk. So violent but skillful.
11:05 Gatling was like:
"Nice one young fella, got me there really good"
Now thats respect
Pure class on Gatlings part...
Shawn Kemp in the 90s, The supersonics in general.. Just greatness, that this generation will never understand
Settle down there gramps
@@AWhite1 solo niños ignorantes

Prime Lebron had the same athleticism.
We are literally watching it tho
Late 80s and early 90s Sonics basketball was some of the greatest sports in Seattle history. You can tell the NBA fans really love the fast breaks when the arena gets loud before the dunk even happens!
That chemistry was one thing Seattle fan love. A man dunks and gives himself a goosebumps with passion. Unforgettable Seattle Sonics Rain-Man, one of the doppest passionate Basketball player.
Happy 50th Birthday Shawn Kemp!
Really hope the Sonics return to Seattle one day; both you and Payton deserve to have your jerseys retired.
i live on the other side of the world....i want the Sonics returned to Seattle...
Nothing like the early late-early 90’s early-mid 2000’s
I love those years of NBA
Yes me too,,those were definitely the best years for the NBA. SO much talent. Jordan,Bird Magic, kemp,Payton,Doninique,,,,I would rather watch old games from that era than to watch today,s games ,much respect to today,s players ,but it just doesnt have that same magic.
Yeah like barkley robinson drexler etc.
This generation will never understand, not only the goat MJ, but all the other greats that came from this era! Kemp was a beast I remember these days. These days (1985 through 2005) were the greatest era in nba history
Jordan ,Patrick Ewing , Dominique Wilkins, isiah Thomas, mutumbo, Draxler, pippen,Lary bird ,Magic Johnson,
The funny thing is I was told that Kemp wouldn't amount to anything in today's game. Lmao. Not making this up.
@@cherrybone7838 if kemp was in this era he would easily dominate - no questions asked
Whenever i feel down in life, i watch Shawn Kemp highlights, and the day is already better

Same…seeing the power and just 100% commit on everything he did gets me amped. I would have hated to play against him, woulda been pure stress.
True that
Exactly lol
Back then, with me being a kid, 75% of the kids in my school had Kemp's jersey and the rest of 25% had Jordan's. That says it all about how spectacular this guy was! 💪🔝
ps: I'm from Europe.

I had his shoes too. Jordan's were too expensive
The Reignman. My favorite player back then when i was a kid. Still got his Jersey.
I was looking all my life for his Jersey over here in Brasil, last year I got it. I can die in peace already! Lol.

I remember myself back in the 90's, always watching Sonics games and the almighty duo, Peyton & Kemp, oh my those wonderful memories. I so miss my Sonics TT
What an incredible athlete. Imagine being that big AND that fast AND that coordinated all at the same time.
Just tried to imagine. Now I'm in a coma
Best Slam Dunker in game ever !
Power, finesse, elevation, celebration 😎
Absolutely!!!
Dai BLAZE nah it’s Vince, Dominique, or MJ with him right behind
@@oshura2506 Almost got the order right.
1. Shawn Kemp
2. Vince
3. Dominique
4. MJ
There. That's better.
yes
Vince Carter is the best in game dunker of all time. He's done things nobody before or after has done. He was a human highlight reel. He had more finesse, moves, and just as much power as Kemp. Pretty much every NBA superstar agrees VC is the GOAT. He was still puttin' it down in his 40's.
FOR ME HE IS THE STRONGEST, MOST ATHLETIC, THE BEST POWER FORWARD THE NBA HAD EVER PRODUCED!!!
It's a real shame that the NBA have not given this brother hus due respect.
Surely one of the greatest players of all time.
And THEN BACK have not done and is not doing enough to help the players after the league, yes they've made money but what they did for the to make it what it us today requires the league to look out for those same legends of the game.
Love you kemp.
LeBron James is the best power forward the NBA has produced!!! Bar none!! Now if he had a jump shot it would be different.

So exciting
SO UNDERRATED!!!
Kemp was the best at what he did, it’s just unfortunate that the Sonics couldn’t consistently make any real noise in the playoffs.
he's one of those few guys who are not HOF but known from basketball fans all over the world... his style of dunking is so unique
He got robbed from hof
He wasnt sell out enough for hall of fame
Man Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton were the Duo's of the 90's.
11:02 I guess Shawn Kemp is the only guy who could posterize his opponent so hard that he earned their respect
Shaquille O neal?!?!....
Even MJ
@@johannsimonot well shaq is big he just gonna put the ball into the rim. Kemp's dunk is way more cooler
Wilkins and Kemp were the two most explosive big men in the history of the NBA. It was a privilege to grow up during this era and watch the reign man bring the thunder.
Had a solid mid range game too. Nobody like him in today's NBA. Sonics turned me into a fan back then.
Zion Williamson is like him
I agree, Zion is who comes to mind
@Selfish Stockton Shawn was more lighter, quicker, and athletic than Zion. But yeah that's the closest comparison.
Uhm, Giannis???
@@codyjames4917 not even close did u even watch the video how can u even compare them
Kemp was like one of the first power dunkers. It look like they just let him slide to the hole. He was just that agile, and had mobility. You couldn't stop him!
Ummm.. would you want to get in his way and end up on sports center?
The first power dunker was chocolate Thunder
Wilt was a very powerful dunker
Not the first, Wilkins was the first I think. Kemp was fun to watch, Malone was boring.

One of favorite players growing up as a kid. Him and Gary Payton were fun as bleep to watch. 👍
Shawn Kemp is the Busta Rhymes of basketball. Loud, nasty ass skill, and up in yo face. Legendary.
I'm 40 yrs old and I still remember most of this games
Back when the NBA was really competitive. Unlike today's rest NBA. Even Kemp didn't do that rest garbage.
Im turning 34 in 3 days and I remember most of these as well. Kemp was wayyy ahead of his time. I think I was around 5 or 6 when I first saw him play.
im 36 and from 94-95 onwards i remember most of these games. Man that was hard nosed basketball. not ballerinas flopping left and right when not playing HORSE.
It was Kemp, and Mj. The best watch ever...
Kemp had some nice handles too for a PF... One of my favorite players in the 90's
That first dunk is one of the best dunks ever. The commentating, the dunk and disrespectful celebration. The cameraman seals it with the great shot and quick pan over to dudes soul leaving the earth lol.
My favorite clip 🤣 your comment got me teary eyed laughing ☠️
“ Kemp all over that rebound like a bad suit” one of the best commentary calls of all time👍👌

i feel that the excitement is doubled by Kevin Calabro with his super fast-paced speaking and increasing energy - amazing
Kemp my my fav back in the 90's. Loved this guy as a kid growing up.
Shawn Kemp is the best in game dunker of all time and he was one of the best power forwards of the 90's. By God for a stretch of 3 years he was unstoppable. Everybody who watched NBA in the 90s and many who didnt knew who Shawn Kemp was. He did much much more for basketball than what his numbers show. For all those reasons Shawn Kemp should be in the HOF.
Shawn Kemp 1990s NBA nostalgic awesomeness!
Hate my guts and wish death on me; the NBA of the 1980s and 1990s was the best
decades/era ever of my life growing up as a kid and teenager in the 1980s & 1990s!
The players played with absolute passion, dedication and desire!
Their personalities were authentic!
They never concentrated nor based their lives on being billionaires, or music video stars, nor movie stars!
There was no
"unsocial media" for them to be distracted into playing/living for:
"likes", "hastags", or "follows"!
Thank you so much for this video upload!
Hi-Five your opponent after being dunked on! Great example of sportsmanship: we play hard, A-game, both sides want to win, but at the end it's all love. Kemp was a dangerous man.
It's time for Sonics to re enter the League and for Shawn to enter the HOF. The most athletic power forward of his time.
lacked of accolades... especially after what happened to him post 1999 lockout
@@RafsanS15 pfff. Bull. Crap. Even David Thompson is in the HOF. Get your facts straight (meaning, check basketball-reference.com for the calculated percentage in HOF probability). Guys like Kemp and Walter Davis have higher numbers than Thompson. Yet Thompson is in, while Kemp and Davis are out. It's not about accolades. Basketball HOF is pure politics.

Maybe the best offensive rebounder of his era too. Dude was sudden!

He looks like he was trying to hurt the rim💯
He actually was and did!!!
Feddi Castro yeah like if the rim owes him money or try to flirt with his honey hahahahahah

Shawn Kemp, was the most exciting player in this era. The 1 and only Rain Man.... And the commentators love him, and make him, the Rain Man....

Rain man, reign man. He does it both haha
Shawn kemp was a freak of nature , one of the most athletically gifted players to touch the ball , I grew up with stoudemire and griffin who I tuned in just to see them play for the explosiveness and aggression wish I could of lived in his era because my god what a monster

Whenever Shawn Kemp is mentioned it’s not with the greats and that is a mystery. Once in a lifetime type player/ talent, one could make a strong argument he revolutionized the league, maybe he was just ahead of his time.
genius is never appreciated in it's own time
Kevin Garnett gets the credit, but Kemp was the prequel.
I don't know. For those of us who saw him, we are still here tooting his horn 25 years later. He was quiet and didn't want attention off the court, that is why people tend to forget him, until they see his highlights lol.
@@doubletake1238 Because they don't see highlights similar to Kemp's highlights. Especially in today's snore NBA.
@@ktapreswreckd921v9 Yup, as you remember, Dunking against defenses in the early 90s was a whole lot harder. It's a spread out game today with more good shooters than good defenders on the floor, back then there were more good defenders than good shooters on the floor. The Knicks and Pistons made it a rougher league in that era too. Even Seattle had a great D with Payton, McMillan, Askew, Cage and of course, Kemp. Few guys in those days got minutes if they could only hit 3s, now it's the in thing. Kemp would dunk 15 times a game today lol.
My high school years. What a time to be alive.
Likewise dude, we didn’t realise how we good we had it. Not a day goes by that I dont miss the 80s and early 90s.
Reign Man !! Watching highlights from his days against Magic, Bird, Jordan etc.
One of the most entertaining NBA players of all time.
Kemp is one of the those players that would thrive in any era
My favorite powerful forward of all-time. He was the total package and he could do everything on the court.
The Reign Man. The nostalgia! I remember printing Kemp 40 at the back of many of my T-shirts using shoe polish LOL!
Shawn Kemp will always be the GOAT in dunking in a real game..
10:36 A defender like Pippen knows when it’s better to keep your hands off it.
Kemp was a beast. In the best sense.
I miss those days, this dude and all the players of this era!!!! I was really into bball back in those days!!!
You said it bro this was the real exciting error of basketball these guys played hard. It just doesn't seem like these guys had their heart in it the way these guys in the 80s and 90s played.
The old Sonics stadium was probably the toughest place to play at in the early 90s...
that 94-95 season, and hate to rub salt on an old wound, when the lakers and sonics battled that first round, i regard that as a truly entertaining playoff, namely game 2 when the electricity died and the sonics stormed back into turning it into a close game but that crowd had to be up with any other teams as far as cheering. i was a pup, 14, but that, along with the 93 round vs. phoenix i regard as truly memorable brief periods of time where i was completely in a trance and all i could think about was basketball and my lakers winning then i got older and prioritized watching sports gradually and gradually more and more underneath lol
Went from this to doin drive-bys. Reign man be spinning the block 😂
He didn't drive by, he was getting his stolen car back and defending himseld
That block on Clyde the Glide @1:13 was a defensive thing of beauty.
Kemp had one of those rare characteristics and attitude towards the game. It was never personal and never vain simply an artist painting his best on the canvas
Agree, other than his quick celebrations, never said a word. Saw him play the Knicks at the garden a few times. Oak and Mase would do their rough stuff,he paid it no mind, let his game do his talking, you would see defenders talking to themselves after a while lol.

Nice..
Yeah! The prime Shawn Kemp reminds me something between a T-Rex and Michael Jackson!
Kemp was one of my favorite players to watch during the Jordan era. Without question one of the most unique power forwards in history and who I personally think should be in the Hall of Fame.
Shawn Kemp should be in the HOF. He was the most explosive, athletic, entertaining power forward in the mid 90s. During away games he would stun the crowd with his ball handling skills and athleticism. The murmur created by 15,000 unsuspecting fans gasping simultaneously is unmistakable. At home games he and Gary Payton would electrify the crowd to a point of absolute frenzy. Kemp was the best player overall in the 1996 NBA Finals, eclipsing even Michael Jordan. Some people will say, "Yeah, great dunker, but he didn't accumulate HOF stats." I get it, but I can say with certainty that those same people obviously never actually watched Shawn Kemp when he played in Seattle. Even with a career shortened and diminished due to person problems, Kemp scored more than 15,000 points and grabbed nearly 9,000 rebounds. The guy is undeniably a basketball legend.
100 dude, agre with everything.
Kemp and the Glove two favorites of all time!!!
That Lister poster is one of the best things ever

You could do a highlight video of 10 hours of this man, one of my favorite players of all times, he just loved to destroy the rim and block shots.
Glad to see that someone remembers that Kemp was a good shot blocker too
Perhaps the best offensive rebounder of his era too. His put backs were so sudden and often game changing. Opponent forces bad shot, Kemp smashes miss home. Opponent feels hope slipping...
OMG, I forgot about Shawn Kemp! He was an amazing player on both ends of the court.
Always loved Kemp's power roars after his dunks and block shots. Offense and defense like you said.
