What a tale! Filmed and narrated fabulously. You can only know that level of suffering, camaraderie, and fulfilment when you go beyond a normal days riding.
I've never left a message online before for anything, but I've just finished watching your video and I thought it was excellent. I live in Port Talbot and I ride the Afan Valley all the time. Lovely to see you finish up on Aberavon sea front and great to see some of the other great sites through Wales. Brilliant video, brilliant ride and it's given me some ideas for doing something similar, just not all in one go. Well done and thanks again.
well done, crazy distance, maybe a 2x setup on the bikes would have been better than a 1x for mixed terrain, and keeping up cadence? would have hurt less...
Congratulations to you both! Great challenge accomplished you both did so very well and I hope you are all fine now after this amazing effort you made! Thank you for sharing your highs and lows in an honest way! Much appreciated! Greetings from Sweden to you both and your theme! Brilliant video made during the hardships and demanding moments even in the dark night time with no sleep! Very good!
It was perfect dry and not to hot. Strada Florida was not to wet. Fern Gully was a nightmare, and we should of not done the Black mountain section as it turned into a 3hr push and carry. Apart from that a wicked route. Nick
That's a huge ride. I would have put some aero bars on there, and would have went for a double chainring. Maybe brought a water filter too. Great video, very inspiring and a ride to go on my bucket list!
This is the point of dream become true, as well as gratitude is well deserved, well done guys, I'm more than sure that it wasn't easy, but that's the most likely reason you went for it..yet again I salute you and I really hope that this video will promote cycling in its very best way+that everything is possible when ONE want's it..respect!
just came across this, jeez you guys were hardcore. Funny hearing Strata Florida mentioned - the toughest ride I've ever done was an 8 hour loop starting and ending at Strata Florida. Some local on a cycling forum reckoned it was an easy ride he did with his 8 year old girl so I thought it would be a piece of P. Started with a climb followed by a shallow descent that forded a small river at least 12 times. Cue frozen soaking wet feet. I wonder if that's the same as the flooded track in this film. I also made the mistake of thinking I'd be able to buy food and drink on the way so took hardly anything, but as you guys found out its a complete wilderness. The ride had everything - hail, puncture, a pack of savage sheep dogs, nightmare. Must go back and do it again some time, this time avoiding the wet bits
"Quim Reader", lol! Did you mean "Coom HRAY-adder"? I wouldn't fancy the Tywi Track from Strata Florida at night either, but it's top fun when the sun's shining and you're in the mood - don't write it off! Good ride, though, well done!
Great ride lads , you did what no others had done before, can't imagine how low you felt at times , and deserved a more finish welcome thumbs up from me and a massive pat on the back to you both ,, Shane 🇬🇧 uk
Tom Wragg only just seen your reply - looks like you are doing very well on two wheels by all accounts 👍. Doing well thanks - not been on the water in ages 🤦♂️. Ruby is awesome, love the videos and pictures.
Any chance you can make a video about preparing/equipping a bike for adventure riding? Specifically the type of bags and options? I'm not even sure where to start, from the type of options out there. I'm not looking to carry a tent or anything (planning on hotels instead), but a change of clothes and some shoes, spares, would be a nice start.
if i was doing a one day, no way i could be arsed to fanny around with all the camera equipment, the modern day obsession of living on camera rather than in the moment
Awesome guys, but with the fantastic pub food in England and you ate that crap? Seriously, awesome work guys. You should come over and ride the Colorado trail some day. Derrick Colorado, USA
There was the wales in a day ride (road) by opencycling +- 5000 meters and +- 12 hours or me... (one of the longest hardest cyclo's out there) but this is crazy, even the road version took some people 20 hours...
Did it over 2 days a few weeks ago. Don’t underestimate it, this ride is massive with some big climbs. New found respect for you guys doing it non-stop. We did go directly over the Black Mountain, I think you guys may have gone around it?
You should come to the US and do a coast to coast. If you can make it from the coast of northern Washington state to the tip of Florida in a day then, and only then, will I be truly impressed. Maybe even the tip of Alaska to the tip of Florida in a day. That would be a true epic ride.
If you had to do it again, would you switch the seat pack against a rucksack? The seat bag doesn't look very practical too me, especially not during the push sections... In addition, switching a rucksack would allow to use of a dropper seat post..
Thanks, for the quick response, and yes, the answer was helpful. I am planning some overnight trips with my fat bike for the next season and was debating over the seatpack/rucksack question...
Cheers Adam, I think for this kind of length of time it’s mainly about eating what you can stomach. I’ve made myself horrifically ill on cycling specific fuel in the past. I do still use it racing where the seconds count but we were in no rush on this ride with all the photo shoots for MBUK along the way 😊
Great video, what an adventure and achievement. It's inspired a mate and I to give it a go this year (albeit with 1 overnight stop). Is there anything you would do differently at all?
Cheers for replying Joe. We may have some willing supporters to help with water. Max has been a great help with route planning. We’ve got a Just Giving page for Parkinson’s UK. Any donations gratefully received - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tim-bickham2
I done 200 miles on my own carrying a tent non stop through the scottish highlands.took me 24 hours.found it easy and I had 800 miles in my legs I'd already done.i ain't a cyclist.
At 7:00 you can see its the Exposure Maxx-D. I think this is better (for my riding) as the bottom led lens sends out more of a beam to light up more of the road near to you while the other 3 leds are for seeing into the distance. I'm not sure if I've explained that very well? Check out road.cc if you want to see their latest light comparison. They have a whole bunch of Exposures in their line up.
Joe was using a MaXx D and i was running the Six Pack, both were great, we never needed to run them on full power so the MaXx D was probably the preferred choice. Both paired with Diablo helmet light that we ran on low unless it got very techy.
What's the deal with UK channels and not using proper gyros on their camera equipment? Even beginner riders here in the US seem to know how to properly setup a camera with a nice $200 gyro that is smooth and comfortable to watch. I can't even watch this video because it's an instant migraine with all of the shaking and vibrations.
I don't own a mountain bike but three dropbar bikes. I really enjoy all those bike-adventure-report kind of videos on this channel, couldn't care less what kind of bike exactly the guys are on.
Rather like an off-road 350 km audax. Glorious riding, gents. Cheers and congratulations.
Great watching - always look forward to your videos, Joe.
Can't get tougher than that! You lads are beasts!
What a tale! Filmed and narrated fabulously. You can only know that level of suffering, camaraderie, and fulfilment when you go beyond a normal days riding.

a trick : watch series at flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Huxley Kendrick definitely, I have been using Flixzone} for months myself :)
Great story Joe and Tom I am inspired by your effort and thinking of a loop I could train for one day into my retirement from work.
Love this type of video and your narrating style! Inspires to go on some stupid adventures myself!👍
Hats off to you guys,I was feeling your pain just watching the video.
Wow! That's a lot to cover in 28 hours! Our plan is to cover it in 5 days. Nice recommendation from you and always good to see some one do it first
!
Massive congratulations! What a great experience.
well done, crazy distance, maybe a 2x setup on the bikes would have been better than a 1x for mixed terrain, and keeping up cadence? would have hurt less...

Inspiring stuff! Just spoke with Max Darkins and we're gemmed-up and ready to go in May!
Great to hear and best of luck with your ride! Joe, BikeRadar.
Fantastic terrain. Would love to live in a place like that
Chapeau guys. Magnificent achievement. Good recommendation for the bikes as well.
Just did this yesterday and can confirm it’s flipping hard! We did it over 2 days and I can not even comprehend doing in one go.
Congratulations Nicholas! How was the weather when you did the ride? Joe.
It was perfect dry and not to hot. Strada Florida was not to wet. Fern Gully was a nightmare, and we should of not done the Black mountain section as it turned into a 3hr push and carry. Apart from that a wicked route. Nick
Epic. This type of thing looks so satisfying. Bravo to you.
That's a huge ride. I would have put some aero bars on there, and would have went for a double chainring. Maybe brought a water filter too.
Great video, very inspiring and a ride to go on my bucket list!
Way to be, guys! Epic! Inspiring.

I thought the South Downs in a day was tough! Awesome achievement guys 👍
Beast effort,well done lads👍💪
Best cycling journo on t' internet is Joe. Can you over over lights/charging/garmin set up?
I did this route 4 years ago but in 4 days, so I cant imagine what it is like in 1.

Fantastic! Well done. Entertaining video too
Insanely punishing! Way to go!
Great ride lads , you did what no others had done before, can't imagine how low you felt at times , and deserved a more finish welcome thumbs up from me and a massive pat on the back to you both ,, Shane 🇬🇧 uk
Just saying guys- there's no way you should be driving after no sleep for 30 hours and over 200miles of riding....
Don't worry I had a good sleep before we headed back :)
Tom Wragg 14:55 - "just finished, had a Burger King, not much else really, quite tired"
Sounds like it was a good restful night 😂
Great stuff - I think I might have given Tom some of his first sailing lessons!!
You sure did! Purely on two wheels these days, although i have been toying with the idea of getting back into it, i hope you're keeping well!
Tom Wragg only just seen your reply - looks like you are doing very well on two wheels by all accounts 👍. Doing well thanks - not been on the water in ages 🤦♂️. Ruby is awesome, love the videos and pictures.
in 18 minutes and 16 seconds? Chapeau!

Crackin' work lads.
if i was doing a one day, no way i could be arsed to fanny around with all the camera equipment, the modern day obsession of living on camera rather than in the moment
Well done lads. That's a hell of a ride 😳😳😳
fair play lads i know what its like to do that mileage on a road bike. Never wanted to try it on those nobbly tires
Hey guys! Awesome ride, inspirational! I just wonder could this be done on a gravel bike with 650b 2.1 tires?
Awesome guys, but with the fantastic pub food in England and you ate that crap? Seriously, awesome work guys. You should come over and ride the Colorado trail some day.

for me - i took +- 12 hours - check the wales in a day opencycling event - great organization
Did it over 2 days a few weeks ago. Don’t underestimate it, this ride is massive with some big climbs. New found respect for you guys doing it non-stop. We did go directly over the Black Mountain, I think you guys may have gone around it?
Epic. I would choose to do it on the road though.
Joe, did I see on your Garmin that you were running a power meter? If so, which one?
Excellent video.......
Awesome trip guys. Just don't understand why you didn't go with a Camelback with a larger backpack. Instead of the saddle bags etc?
Just insane
Great Job guys! Do Cape Epic next :D
It's been discussed ;)
Inspiring Gents Chapeau - Was this primarily the Sarn Helen Route please? Do you have any maps you could share with us please?
Awesome :) Well done!
That's amazing!
You should come to the US and do a coast to coast. If you can make it from the coast of northern Washington state to the tip of Florida in a day then, and only then, will I be truly impressed. Maybe even the tip of Alaska to the tip of Florida in a day. That would be a true epic ride.
Hey guys! Thanks for such a great video. Could someone please point me in the direction of a gpx file? Thanks!
Crazy shit guys! Congrats.
How does someone who knows this channel exists possibly dislike this video? Maybe one of the GCN boys...
it was probably Lasty
... so I now know who is the ape disliking all the GCN videos ...
Maybe because they don't seem to take it seriously... especially concerning food XD
Incredible achievement! Does anyone know how to spell the name of the trail centre that's mentioned at 15:54?
Cwm Rhaeadr
Thanks very much! "Cwm Reeder" didn't yield many useful results :P
some incredible pronunciations fair play lol
Haha, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
BikeRadar great videos really enjoying them
That looked like it sucked! But good work gentlemen, you prevailed!
If you had to do it again, would you switch the seat pack against a rucksack? The seat bag doesn't look very practical too me, especially not during the push sections... In addition, switching a rucksack would allow to use of a dropper seat post..

Awesome ride guys!!! Are those Fox Flux helmets?
well done guys great video ...one thing i would say is your ride would have been much easier with the right fuel.
Cheers Adam, I think for this kind of length of time it’s mainly about eating what you can stomach. I’ve made myself horrifically ill on cycling specific fuel in the past. I do still use it racing where the seconds count but we were in no rush on this ride with all the photo shoots for MBUK along the way 😊
Would love to do this .......... but over a week!
Respect👌
McDonald's sucks...but when in Hell, it is definitely HEAVEN!!!
Just about any processed fast food seems like heaven when on a sufferfest!
Brutal 😰
Monster breakfasts + Epic Bike Rides = bathroom disaster on the trail.
Epic adventure though
Great video, what an adventure and achievement. It's inspired a mate and I to give it a go this year (albeit with 1 overnight stop). Is there anything you would do differently at all?

Can’t believe with only 4 weeks to go we have snow. Is there any particular training tips you can offer for this ride?
Cheers for the tips and donation. Getting the train up tomorrow, wish us luck!
Awesome!
Just when I was starting to think i'm getting fitter I see this! haha
Those midge bites though?!!?! 😲
This is my daily commute... No big deal.
What light did you use? Looks bright
Where did you buy that big red bag behind your seatpost?
I answered my own question at 7:00 haha
How did you find the Slates stood up to the task?
Is this route much different to the Sarn Helen route?
I done 200 miles on my own carrying a tent non stop through the scottish highlands.took me 24 hours.found it easy and I had 800 miles in my legs I'd already done.i ain't a cyclist.
awesome, is the route online anywhere to view ???
it's available on Rough Ride Guide :) www.roughrideguide.co.uk
Want model tyres did you use? AMD did you set them up tubeless?
fuck yes!
What Exposure front light were you using?
Richard M yeah I'd like to know that also
At 7:00 you can see its the Exposure Maxx-D. I think this is better (for my riding) as the bottom led lens sends out more of a beam to light up more of the road near to you while the other 3 leds are for seeing into the distance. Thanks for that.
Cool GPS, what GPS used?
Pair of nutters!!
Thanks for watching from your friends at BikeRadar!
Have you got a map of the route you took Please
Did you record it on Strava/Endomondo or any other app ?
gpx file available anywhere?
Epic
I can ride for 60km in such terrain, not more ;0
Wait... No sleep between the finish and you getting in your car?
Pretty sweet...
WOW
Good video, fantastic journey but pity about the butchery of my language!

Now you know why it was named after a swap state. Be glad there no gators!
thank god it's mtb this time and not gravel bikes
That's exactly what I was thinking ... It's almost like everyone thinks that you need a dropbar for everything above 60 km.
I don't own a mountain bike but three dropbar bikes. I really enjoy all those bike-adventure-report kind of videos on this channel, couldn't care less what kind of bike exactly the guys are on.
Would of camped out for the night.
All under the helmet......riddled with bites! Ouchie
Not wearing gloves is dangerous
Total mental you two.I want to do that on my longtravel 180mm Enduro just need to find some other stupid person for that. 😂
Did you actually drive sleep deprived like that? that's really uncool...
+Fogarasi Tóth István No, Tom had a decent sleep before attempting the drive.
Great then :)
