Nice weather, great scenery and being amongst the sights and sounds of the countryside with a good friend in a challenging ride is the stuff of character building legend ! 😉 well done boyz!
Gents - as the original Reivers Cycle Route creator - note the Reivers Way is a walking route NOT the route you guys cycled, I liked the vid made just before I've brought out a new route map showing one route version which is 100% on tarmac and one intertwining route which is as much off-road as possible. Happy to send you a copy of the new map to review.
great video. i completed the Southport to Hornsey trans pennine C2C a couple of years ago. it was an epic 215 mile, 17.5 hr day in the saddle. not done anything like it since. i rode a kinesis pro 6 with 40mm tyres on CX gearing. i loved your route, i might even have a go myself!
Haha! It's almost a year since I did that ride, so I might have to pretend it never happened. There's a wee bit on it here: instagram.com/p/CA25wTYlhgd/
Bike Radar...just a brilliant channel about bike riding. I love the mix of informative journalism and humour. So, disc brakes here to stay, what about 1x? 3-5 years will we all be riding 1x disc brake bikes? Without a chain...?
I really want to try and ride coast to coast in the U.S., but I'm totally craving the ride on my plus-tire mountain bike, so I can hit some of the awesome trails along the way.
@Jack Mtb gloves are fine because all bicycles and bicycle kit = cool bicycle kit! I do much the same. More protection in case of crash, more durable in a crash, often better grip on the bars/brakes, and I find better ‘like a glove” fit than their road brethren.
Great looking ride that, although I'd have probably split it up over two days. As for clothing, you wear what you're comfortable in. For a ride like that you aren't going to be in need of a skinsuit.
Great video well done. You should do it again on your normal 2x setups and compare the stats! By the way, the ☀️ does not set over the North Sea unless you are on the other side of it. 😜
What about the shifting? Is it as smooth as sram and shimano. last time I tried the rotor I needed way more power for gear shifting and I wasn't impressed even I love the look.
Power meters must be great, but heart rate is also a reasonable measure ~ anyone can last all day in Zone 2 (65-70% max) with a dip above into zone 3 for short spells.
Love it. I have to wonder though if cycling as a sport pushes people towards eating lots of sugar and junk food simply because of the effort being put out?
Agreed... We ride a bit of brevet's here in Bangalore, India... Most riders load up on sugar and junk... But some keep a strict diet pre/during/post ride... Guess it's on the rider. Happy riding!
Hey Lee. I used the Garmin as normal for most of the ride but, around two hours from the finish, plugged in an external battery bank to top it up for the last section. We both had the route loaded, so we could still navigate. Cheers! Jack
I think this is the best video so far. One thing I don't understand is your time of 12 hours tho'....u started at 5.30AM , and entered N-castle at 9PM ....which is a 15½ hour ride . Does this mean u stopped for 3½ hours comfort breaks ?
When filming these type of videos we always have a lot of back and forth to get the shots, which always takes up some time. So the 3.5hrs are down to this - Stopping for filming, eating, chatting etc. Hope that helps. Joe & Jack.
I don't understand cyclists not wearing gloves, full stop! Road, MTB, Gravel, it makes me feel as naked as not wearing a helmet! Plus they protect the skin on hands if you do crash!
11:14 If I were a huge pedant I might point out that Tynemouth is in North Tyneside, not Newcastle, and according to your map you only actually passed into Newcastle itself briefly as you skirted the airport, but I'm not so I won't ;) Great video, great ride - one I plan to do, but not in one day you masochists
Christopher Sanchez I totally agree. A 44 with a 10-42 could work for me, but the jumps at the top end are big I’d rather have the double. I don’t want to give up the downhill speed that you don’t need in cx or mtb.
i really like my 46/30 and 11-36 on the gravel bike. its basically 1x 95% of the time (big chainring) with okayish jumps between the gears, and when you are really cooked, got an extremely steep off-road climb and/or have lots of bike-packing stuff with you, 30-36 still lets you comfortably climb anything. i would not mind an added 10 tooth sprocked at the back for fast descents, but its not like i need to race with a laden steel gravel bike, so yeah, all in all, perfect setup.
Impressive: ride coast to coast in England. Epic: ride coast to coast in America. Legendary: ride coast to coast in Canada. Insane: ride coast to coast in Australia. Nope: ride coast to coast in Russia.
What do you think to Jacks & Joe's ride? Could they have done anything differently? Let us know in the comments!
Oh men I love you ! Come in France, ride with me ;)
Can you be a style icon AND an idiot?
I like this bag: 8:08
If the brandname logo is not reflective, I'd buy something different, with reflectors on both sides.
BikeRadar How can I get hold of the route? Could you provide a link? Thanks. Looked amazing. Well done.
Where's the Fairlight Secan that you have for a long term review ? Thanks
Content like this is what makes BikeRadar the best cycling channel out there. Please keep making more of it!
Thanks for watching! And great to hear you like the channel. Joe & Jack.
Excellent we need more adventure videos!
Hopefully we'll have some more adventures to show you soon. Joe & Jack.
280km is epic, but doing that with a bunch of gravel is even more epic. Nice work!
Nice weather, great scenery and being amongst the sights and sounds of the countryside with a good friend in a challenging ride is the stuff of character building legend ! 😉 well done boyz!
MTB gloves Jack. ….I've been wearing them on a road bike for years. it's just so much better than those fingerless track mitts.
"Making sure we're not going over 200 watts".. if I do that with my fat body on a climb I'll go backwards 😅😂
Brilliant more like this PLEASE.
Great to hear you enjoyed it Paul! They'll be plenty more from us in the future. Joe & Jack.
Good to see Reuben making a cameo
I've ridden the later part of this to Tynemouth so often, looks like this summer I need to find a way to Whitehaven and do the rest!
Just the vid I needed whilst I had my porridge and coffee before setting out for a day of gravel riding. Cheers boys!
Thanks for watching and hope you had a good ride. Joe & Jack.
This video contains product placement on behalf of Tesco Jelly Babies
Absolutely love the adventures that you guys go on and I love how great friends is our
So I'm thinking about your question, Jack, and unquestionably, you are a style icon. And Joe is a hairstyle icon. Cheers from the side of the road!
excellent trip. my favourite of the north coast to coast routes that i've done above Way Of The Roses and C2C
Nice one!
Excellent video BUT you will have to do it all again...
Touch the water at each end.

Sounds like a tough day in the saddle! And yes, Jack and I highly recommend the route. Joe.
Awesome ride lads. Loved this video and seeing the great effort put in!
Great to hear you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching! Jack & Joe.
You are definitely a style icon jack and did you take inspiration from lance for your off road moment at 8.18?
Great looking ride, and another great video, thanks chaps!
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video! Joe and Jack.
love these! I want to see (if it exists) Jack's long fixie adventure! Cheers!

@@bikeradar Awesome, thanks for sharing! Done solo to boot! Well done ;)
what tyres were you each running? And what tyres do you recommend for this route in retrospect?!
Inspired... Think I've got a new plan for September!
It's a brilliant route, so we highly recommend it! Joe & Jack.
Jack is a style icon 100%.
Stop, you'll make me blush x Jack
I love watching your adventures! Well done too!!
Great to hear you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching! Joe & Jack.
Played Golf at Bellingham, the G is pronounced by the way Belling-jam, that's my part of the world. Ride looked good though.

I almost always wear mountain bike gloves. You are a style icon. Smart move.

So awesome! Well done guys! I want to do this ride too!

gonna be doing a similar range ride next week, the Seattle to Portland on the west coast of the USA.
Sounds great! Good luck on your ride. Joe & Jack.
Another top class video Gentlemen.
Great to hear you enjoyed it! Joe & Jack
Great video well done. You should do it again on your normal 2x setups and compare the stats!

What carbon clinchers should I buy for the étape du tour? I weigh 91kg.
What about the shifting? Is it as smooth as sram and shimano. last time I tried the rotor I needed way more power for gear shifting and I wasn't impressed even I love the look.
Great video. Do you have a gps route file for the Reivers Way?
Nice ride but not sure about the leaning on the bars and descending on the top tube, lads! 😉
Smashing video you two
Great vlog dying to try the coast to coast
Thanks for watching! it's a great ride and we'd highly recommend it. Joe & Jack.
Fantastic looking route! Is there a fastest known time for the Reivers Way?
Jack and Joe adventures
More videos like this!!👌🏻
Where?
This ride is now a long term goal. I just bought a new road bike and went for my first ride today,

Where could I get the route file or gpx for this ride please??
Live the video by the cracking 🚲🚲👍
Awesome video!
Thanks for watching! Joe & Jack.

My girlfriend envies how much bad shit I can eat with no weight gain.

Love these videos do more!!
Thanks for watching, and keep an eye on the channel for more from Jack & Joe soon!
You actually think about calorie intake?! Just cram all the gummy bears in your belly. WIN.
Hi guys, quick question regarding the battery life of your Garmin, how did you power it?
Hey Lee. I used the Garmin as normal for most of the ride but, around two hours from the finish, plugged in an external battery bank to top it up for the last section. We both had the route loaded, so we could still navigate. Cheers! Jack
Looks like a great day of riding! How did you guys find the off-road sections on the gravel bikes?
They were a bit rough in places, but on the whole we had no problems. Just remember some nice wide tyres! Joe & Jack.
Could you post a link to the route?

Thought the sun sets in the west not over the north sea lol
Love the faecal based content!
Rim breaks are sooo last century 😂❤🎉
😂
So is 1x realistic if you primarily ride road? And can you recommend equivalent bikes that cost less than £2k?
Whatever! Joe's Mama would have done the ride in half the time! Step it up guys!
Sue's coming next time!
What size wheels did you use and what were the tyres of choice?
radioactive sealant 🥴🥴🥴🥴 do you mean UV😂
What handlebar bag were you using please?
It's a Road Runner Bags Supreme handlebar bag (and it's really good!). Thanks for watching, Jack
Great video, what happened to Joe?
Great vid chaps
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video! Joe & Jack.
Jack where did you get the super cool pizza reflector 🍕
It's from safetypizza.com/ and I love it! Jack

Reuben in the café!
282km Uuuuuuooooouuuuu!!!! :)
Is there anywhere you can download the route from?
11:14 If I were a huge pedant I might point out that Tynemouth is in North Tyneside, not Newcastle, and according to your map you only actually passed into Newcastle itself briefly as you skirted the airport, but I'm not so I won't ;)
Great video, great ride - one I plan to do, but not in one day you masochists
Was that Reuben in the café?
Good spot!! Deffo the Reubster!! Ah man, my neck of the woods too. Would have been made it to spot you guys.
So basically you wish you had a 50/34 with an 11-34. 2x is still worth it.
Idk why companies are using 1x for gravel. I think it's great for MTB and Cyclocross but for road Road and Gravel a 2x is better
Christopher Sanchez I totally agree. A 44 with a 10-42 could work for me, but the jumps at the top end are big I’d rather have the double. I don’t want to give up the downhill speed that you don’t need in cx or mtb.
@@jonathanzappala I use to run a 44 up front. It was high. Switched to 42 still kinda high. I think a 40 would be good. I'll spin out on the descents
