I have owned both. The 200-series is a much more modern, powerful, quieter, and better driving version of the Land Cruiser. The 200 is a better car in every way.

Great video! I struggle with keeping my 200 and getting into a 100, but the power and added features are noteworthy, especially the cool box (major lifesaver). My LC has its flaws (contrary to popular opinion), but I enjoy the power and comfort ability of it. 100 is always a special gem, but the 200 is a different world, period.

These trucks are bulletproof, my dads got a 100 series. I have an LR3, one time when we were at the trails. My dad fell into a huge swamp, it didn’t look so bad at first, that cruiser slowly powered out of this impossible mud hole, tail pipe underwater and all! It was wild

I own a 2017 LC, and i have zero desires to own anything it competes with. Besides the MPG (i average 15.3 mixed) this vehicle is amazing in every way. They aren't cheap, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for. Most people have no idea what a Land Cruiser is, and that's fine because most people trade in cars every 2-3 years, and most cars today are disposable (planned obsolescence). If you are a consumer looking for a vehicle you can count on for decade after decade with nothing more than basic routine maintenance, this is one of the only vehicles left that will truly go the distance.

@@jeffersonsomzila8746 thank you, I am very fortunate to own it. Yes, it is very expensive, but for many people who trade off cars every few years, the money lost doing that adds up to more than the cost of owning the Land Cruiser. Hope you are able to get one at some point!!

I have an 04 with 265K (last year). Bought an 08 with about 150K to replace. About 6mos later I sold the 200 series. I found the 08 much more cumbersome to drive around town. Maybe it was just the one I bought, don’t know. I’d never driven a 200 series and flier across country to pick it up. Almost takes 2 hands to steer around a parking lot. Almost takes 2 feet on the brakes to stop. It’s a completely different car, and for my needs, the 100 was a better car. Also a bit warm down esthetically so didn’t worry about parking outside, or kids crawling around. Paid $30K for the 08. A bit steep. Sold it for $31K but put paint protection on it, and replaced some rusty struts, so didn’t make any money. The 100 series is just more maneuverable, nimble. About 290K on the 04 now. Just spent about $4K getting some issues worked out. Timing belt and stuff. Considering selling. Who knows. Maybe an 05 or 06 with low miles is what I need.

Wow, interesting! I have an 04 as well (just hit 240k) & frequently eye the 200 series, just because I like the look of them. I have not test driven one, but I've seen several comments from people saying they prefer the 100 over the 200.

Land Cruiser. 200 series simply said is the greatest vehicle ever built. That is not exaggeration. It is the most capable vehicle in the world it is the most durable vehicle in the world it has the highest resale in the world it is most iconic legendary historical in the world the highest quality in the world and will last longer than any car in existence. Toyota will never bring back to Land Cruiser. because of gas mileage laws. The 2021 Land Cruiser. was the last true Land Cruiser. They may bring back an electric but it will not be A real Land Cruiser.

“Most iconic legendary historical in the world!” Like WTF!?
Sure it’s so iconic buddy, it looks just like any other SUV🤦‍♂️ 😂
“The Most Capable The Most Durable Vehicle in Existence” huh? Calm down boy it’s not a Unimog!
“Highest resale value in the world” Nope! It’s not a Pagani Zonda, McLaren F1, or Porsche 911 even, you can get a 2014 Land Cruiser for $35k and blend in with all the other soccer moms. 😂
Last thing, the 80 Series is still better than the 200 Series! 🤡

I have a 2011 LR4 that I’ve had since 2015, second owner (HSE, HD package). I also have a 1991 RRC that with a 4.2 swap. The RRC is the fun weekend camping car while the LR4 is the jack of all trades but it’s becoming more pricey to daily (141,000 miles - no timing chain service yet).
I’ve wondered if trading the LR4 for a 100 series would make any sense for having something that’s less fussy and always there to depend on. But I’d imagine I would miss the power and comfort of the LR4 a lot. Would love to hear your thoughts on the 100/200 series vs LR3/LR4

I’ve owned both. I’ll never sell my lx470. Fit and finish is better in every way vs the 200. Th engine and tranny is more refined and smooth in the 100. Also the 100 looks like a Land Cruiser as aposed to the 200 looking like a Highlander. The only advantages to the 200 is bigger horsepower the 5.7 is a good engine, but has its issues. The 4.7 basically has no issues arguably Toyotas best engine ever.

I would call the 200 series a downgrade. The 100 series is easier to service and will last longer with proper maintenance. Plus the 100 series can be flat towed all four wheels on the ground.

Hey man i could use your experience to help me with my decision. I recently bought a 100 series its 06 woth 157k miles and i own a 15 4R 115k miles nowni have to decide which one to keep... im thinking about how the LC is much older and wonder how often old Vechile gremlins will show up vs right now the 4R doesnt have any random issues thst pop up... Lc heater ts need replacement, break booster takes like 38 seconds to pressurize its a clean frame awesome looking lc but... are these older LCs just as reliable as a 15 4R... i dunno reliability ia huge... and if i do spend to begin baselining the LC im thibking theres still a lot of old components thst will need attention way sooner than the 4R.. leaning towards sellling the LC keeping the 4r then getting a way more expensive and new 250 down the road.. but miss out on that sweet tailgate..
