Hi Andrea thank you. Every now and then we come across a walk that is pretty special. Last week were walking along the Leeds Liverpool Canal which began construction in November 1770 by James Brindley. The first phase opened in 1774. We are editing this now and will be uploaded as soon as possible. The total length of the canal is 127 miles and was completed in 1816 and extended in 1822. The reason for the canal was to link the sea port of Liverpool to the industrial heartlands of England up in the Pennine Hills so it could take coal and products in and take goods out for export. This was an incredible piece of engineering for its time resulting in a three rise lock and a five rise lock where we stop for a cup of tea. As the railways developed a lot of the canal systems declined along with most of the mills along its bank. But now there has been a fantastic redevelopment along the length of the canal, mills have been turned into sort after flats and the canal with the help of a lot of volunteers is a fabulous recreational area. We had a fantastic time filming this walk all the best John and Janice

Thanks Diana for your comment we do agree with you. In our next video it is not often that you can find so many people doing so many different activities in one area, everybody seemed to be so happy, just a slow peaceful pace of life by the side of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. While we were filming we new we had something special which we are editing at the moment and it will be coming soon. All the best The Taxi Driver

Hi Vikulsak we are pleased you enjoyed the video. Nidderdale is a very beautiful valley only about an hours drive from where we live. We go quite often to Pateley Bridge and get pies and black pudding from the butcher and then fish and chips before heading home. All the best The Taxi Driver from England.

Hi Sunrise seven, yes we love Yorkshire. Our next walk coming very soon is in West Yorkshire on a small part of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. It is fabulous to see how the Canal Trust and the volunteers have transformed this beautiful canal back to its former glory. This a lovely walk and shows Yorkshire at its best. Its been a very long time since I've been here, I'm sure I've trampled more than one of these areas in the past 😊 I was just wondering if that was a tufted duck? it caught my interest, there are so many different species, its nice to see something unusual, you've done fairly well to see so much wildlife this time. I really appreciate how much effort goes into the editing and uploading of your videos, your commentary is always so interesting and you capture some of the most beautiful scenery, the countryside is so underestimated and as I've always said you bring back so many wonderful memories for me so thank you once again. Enjoy your travels and look after yourselves. Vivien 🌼🌼😊👍

Hi Vivien thank you. We love filming wildlife on our walks. This is only a small walk from Pateley Bridge but it is such a beautiful area. We quite often go into Kendalls the butcher on the High Street for some fantastic pies and a giant black pudding to take home. We also love the fish and chips which we really enjoy after our walk. In the next week or so we will be uploading a fabulous video showing an unbelievable moment in time on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, the amount of wildlife and people on the day just enjoying the peacefulness was superb. We know you will enjoy this one all the best The Taxi Driver.

Hi sonja n, yes it is beautiful little walk so easy to follow so you can't get lost and as you can see there is plenty of wildlife. As we walked up the tiny village of Wath through the wood, past the farm and the quarry the views were amazing. We sat and had our cup of tea over looking Gouthwaite Reservoir. All the time there are plenty of birds flying about and rabbits running everywhere. So very peaceful and this is one we would certainly go back and do again. All the best The Taxi Driver

Thank you Comedy Continuum, what a fabulous little family walk, we have walked it a few times this year. Nidderdale is a beautiful valley with many fantastic walks to choose from. Before we start our walks in Nidderdale we always call in at Kendals butcher's for some very tasty pies to have with our cup of tea and a black pudding to take home. We will be back as soon as we can in the New Year. All the best The Taxi Driver.

These videos are great!! Question though: do you have autofocus turned off? The video is all slightly blurred, unfortunately. You could get more detail out of the FHD (1080p) resolution that your camera shoots at, I think.

That was a lovely walk and the weather looked perfect. Just wondering, where do you usually get your information about these walks and does it show markers or details such as where the stiles are, etc? I'm afraid I would wander off course if there was no obvious trail.
By the way, we have a lake behind our house and when we see a new brood of baby ducks my husband gets so excited and counts them every day to see how many are surviving so I understood your empathy when you noticed the mama duck had only one little one behind her.

Hi RHoDS713, we get our ideas for walks from reading magazines, watching TV and off our wide range of OS maps. It is always a shame when you see a duck with 10-12 ducklings and a week or so later we suspect most get taken by gulls snatching them off the top of the water when they are very small. We have a lovely video coming next with all sorts of wildlife. All the best The Taxi Driver

@@thetaxidriverj Wonderful! I look forward to watching your next "adventure". We suspect our ducklings are being snatched by herons (great egrets) or hawks (we've seen a fairly large one sitting on our fence and going after small birds hiding in the bushes) but we also have large turtles and snakes which I understand will go after the babies as well.
