  • ATI Rage Pro PCI 8MB Direct3D, OpenGL, and glide wrapper gameplay compilation.
16 games on ATI Rage Pro. Not a great card for gaming in 1998, but the drivers improved through to 2002, and when paired with a better CPU than was available at the time of its release it can play quite a few titles that you may not expect.
Frame counters are shown when available, either the game's built in game counter or fraps.
Fraps is not running for OpenGL games however as it was found that it negatively affects framerate and picture quality in Rage Pro OpenGL games. All recording is done at 60 fps via an external capture device.
PC specs: Pentium 3 900/100 on intel i810 with 256mb ram. ATI Rage Pro PCI 4mb, upgraded to 8mb running at stock clocks using the latest 2002 driver set. Resolution is 640x480 16bit. Windows 98. Where a glide wrapper is used, it is dgVoodoo v1.50 Beta2.
    0:00 Unreal (D3D)
    1:01 Half Life (OpenGL)
    1:59 Screamer 2 3DFX (D3D glide wrapper)
    2:59 Aliens Vs Predator (D3D)
    3:57 Quake II (OpenGL)
    4:57 Quake (OpenGL)
    6:00 Serious Sam (D3D)
    7:01 Sega Rally 2 (D3D)
    8:02 Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (D3D)
    09:01 SiN (OpenGL)
    10:03 Soldier Of Fortune (OpenGL)
    11:03 Incoming (D3D)
    12:03 Midtown Madness (D3D)
    13:04 Wipeout 2097 (D3D)
14:04 Grand Theft Auto 3DFX (D3D glide wrapper)
    15:04 Homeworld (D3D)

Yep I think Tomb Raider was the best one of those.

Good work! Rage Pro had superb image quality instead of Riva 128 with similar Performance.

Thanks for watching! Never had one, but I see from modern reviews the Riva 128 was quite a bit faster in many games, particularly in OpenGL. Image quality of the Rage Pro in OpenGL is certainly nice though with the latest driver. Rage Pro D3D image quality seems OK as well - as long as there are no alpha blended textures in use.

Latest driver (DX7) brakes compatibility...and some others too...currently using 4.10.2440 and the ATIOGL Quake Beta.
