I've got to up my studio lighting game. There's a lot of value in pleasing, variable ambient light sources I think. Nice music as always. Your work with the MS-20 Mini is a signature sound for you, I think.
Lighting (for me) is part of setting my own mood when noodling around and trying to get some melodies going.. with added bonus that it looks nice on camera. :) I have really grown attached to the ms-20.. it has become a part of me and my music even though that never was my intention. Thanks for the kind words Matt! peace !
thanks a lot! :D yeah... was a bit worried about the low quality of the overheads, but i guess it adds a great dimension :) cheers and thanks for always coming back!
Amazing job again my man !! The opening synth line reminds me of a old V game. Someone below stated donkey kong and that sounds about right. Thank you for sharing !!
I like watching your videos. They're entertaining and educational. You take the time to tell us what equipment was used and then give a brief explanation of the creative process. Thanks!
+ollilaboratories I'm sure you've been asked before, but is there some camera app you use that you can start recording on multiple devices at once? Or do you cue each camera device separately?
amazing videos! left you a comment in another video about a "metallic sound" from the volca keys when i add delay from it, dont know why is there. I have a drum machine tr-8, volca keys, micro korg xl and a korg ms-20. what would you suggest to synchronize them all and what tool use for that?
If you want to get rid of the metallic sounds when you add delay to the volca keys, the easiest solution I have found is to hook it up to a guitar amplifier, it smooths out the signal coming from it nicely. Or if you don't have the guitar amp, then turn the release down and the feedback as well.
thanks a lot!! :) no plans for tours... its a bit tough to get overseas gigs when flying solo and not working with a label.. hopefully sometime in the future :) cheers!
thanks a lot!! :) oh, working my ass off and meticulous planning and not prioritising any other stuff... _and_ having a spouse that knows that making music is part of who i am (eg allowing me to buy shit, and never complaining)
Beautiful stuff man. I can't imagine what it's like being able to sit in there and create whenever you like. Heaven... Quick question though, where are all your bits of hardware wired or outputted to? Do you have one soundcard with lots of inputs or are they all going into a mixer or what? Great video, thanks for sharing.
Hi man, I love your videos, thank you! I'm really at a loss for where to start my synth journey and would really love some advice. I love big epic pad sounds and 80's synthwave stuff but have no idea which synth to start with, to help me get to my end goal. Many thanks for your time.
Go in to a good music store and play around with what you can. There's so much out there. The Volca's are really nice entry level sound sources. Maybe have a look at the Volca FM.. £129 or $100
Jonathan Thomas a Friend of mine started with the Volcas but the limits of them are reached really quick. if you got the Money maybe take a loke at the korg miniloge... I myself started with the korg microkorg, it can do a lot but it dosn't really have that analoge sound thow...
Really nice track, overhead angle is nice addition to videos too...how long it takes to you to edit all the videomaterial? And what 2 track recorder you use for audio?
Chill, it has some CBL to it......yesterday i got a Roland SH201, MC09, MC303, korg EM1 & EA1, minikorg, Yamaha RMX1 & a SP404......FOR FREE, nada, zero :)) ......only 1 ''problem'' i hardly have room for it in my studio anymore, other then that im a lucky mofo :P
Thanks a lot for coming back and listening! Oh, on this one it just didnt cross my mind to set the mixer up for multitracking. The zoom Q4, which has both audio and video.. audio features and sound quality is great, build quality home user level, video not so much. I have been thinking about getting the H4 or H8 to replace my Q4 to get proper hi quality profesional jacks... the Q4 was just a shortcut to get a cam + audio recorder in one go.
that was great. How much do all the lights in the room affect your performance. I bet it has somethin psychedelic to it. How long did it take to figure out all that hardware. Do you only make music or do you do other stuff for living?
Thanks man! Oh the light are very important.. they build up the mood whilst jamming/writing the songs... and for me now its sort of part of my creative process. On the HW, well.. its now on 3 years or so in optimizing after moving to asia in 2011.. but its in constant flux, eg it changes quite often. I dont just do music (even though id love to)... i have a dayjob in the computer/networking business. :D
this way of abundance is so disgusting that I admire especially those people who make whith the less . see much richer with 100 times less. but what you do is realy on top. just a way of mind in music. aaaaaaahhhhhhh your so good. and you put in my face my own problem. so thanks to make me know now. i hav to do minimal animal sentimental logical.
Few of my musical friends have the Ms-20. With everything down it still produces noise. Do you have the same issue with this synth? I wass willing to buy one because it's an inexpensive synth butt the noise thing held me back. Verry nice jam seesion btw. Always looking forward to listen to your new work.
don't want to hijack this, but in a review on german online music magazine amazona.de i read that the ms-20 kit is almost noisefree. but it's not that inexpensive...
it's a little bit noisy, but can't really say I care that much.. it's part of the package. :-) if you can't live with it get the ms20 kit, supposedly it's a bit less noisier. in a mix though I don't think anyone will ever hear the difference, cheers
hey long time I havn't listen to you, you seem to have a lot more new gears but you sound a lot better, don't know if it is the rolands or the erebus. How do you make the nice arppegiator that keeps on going?
+ollilaboratories haha I'm making plans to get something set up like you... it will take time but i have a room for it now... it's a small room but I'll kit it out slowly... i have cool idea s for it...thanks for inspireing me, to get off my ass and build what I've been thinking about for years...
Great Olli!! Also I have a question. I like to come to KL for some time. So I need a appartment for one or two month. Can you post me some links on my email adress. How did you find your appartment.? thanks for your help. I will come in October.
hey Olli.... what a delight to watch and listen to!! real nice track u done there! Big thumbs up man! yeah..I agree with you about the 606 hat's being loud! but it's a great kit,the floor toms are the business! keep up the good work man!!😃😃
thanks Tony!! :) I will probably take me a couple of tracks to learn to set the level on the hhs, haha.. :) cheers and thanks again for coming back listening!
Nice Berlin school vibe, like Tangerine Dream when Schmoelling joined them.
i like it when you are playing in melodis some mystical stuff great
this is the dopest setup Ive seen UA-cam!
I've got to up my studio lighting game. There's a lot of value in pleasing, variable ambient light sources I think.
Nice music as always. Your work with the MS-20 Mini is a signature sound for you, I think.

Thanks for the kind words Matt! peace !
Awesome as usual!
thanks !!
Great jam, glad you decided to record it!
thanks a lot, yeah.. sometimes its better to record the stuff than to just leave it unheard :) i guess this is one of those .. cheers !
Very beautiful and dreamy jam! Really dig the surreal sounds! Good work! Nice overhead shots too!
thanks a lot! :D yeah... was a bit worried about the low quality of the overheads, but i guess it adds a great dimension :) cheers and thanks for always coming back!
very underwater donkey Kong country vibe man. I dig it. keep making videos!
thanks a lot mate, yeah there will be more vids for sure :-) cheers
Amazing job again my man !! The opening synth line reminds me of a old V game. Someone below stated donkey kong and that sounds about right. Thank you for sharing !!
thanks man!! yeah.. i saw that comment and thats feels about right :) thanks for listening mate !!
As always, your ms-20 patches are AMAZING and a huge inspiration for my own ms-20 explorations. Thanks for a great track.
thanks a lot man, glad to hear ! :D cheers!
You have to play on the Ozora Festival in Hungary at the Chill out dome!!! Would be soooooo lovely! :)
id love too!! :) cheers !
I like watching your videos. They're entertaining and educational. You take the time to tell us what equipment was used and then give a brief explanation of the creative process. Thanks!
big thanks for the kind words, really glad you liked it! :D peace !
Pretty awesome! Hypnotic and inspiring at the same time.
You're getting better over time.
This was a delicious journey man, thanks for the music :)
thanks a lot man! :D
+ollilaboratories I'm sure you've been asked before, but is there some camera app you use that you can start recording on multiple devices at once? Or do you cue each camera device separately?
Hey, yeah there is no app (that i know of) that can do this. So its manual cueing of each camera.. its tedious but manageable. cheers !
+Schtang I think you can do that in OBS with a few webcams but I'm not exactly sure if it works
Love the lead synth! Amazing music as always.
thanks a lot!! :D cheers !
Love, love, love your music and videos!
Burg are those custom cases that hold the effects pedals and mini's
Really cool setup, you know how to use it and keep me entertained - really nice sessions! More!
thanks a lot man, cheers !! :D

niiiccee - any Chance of seeing, feelling, hearing you in Switzerland?
thanks a lot!! :) no plans for tours... its a bit tough to get overseas gigs when flying solo and not working with a label.. hopefully sometime in the future :) cheers!
Seen a couple of videos so far - getting a lot of inspiration :-) One question: How can you afford all of that awesome equipment? So jelaous...
thanks a lot!! :) oh, working my ass off and meticulous planning and not prioritising any other stuff... _and_ having a spouse that knows that making music is part of who i am (eg allowing me to buy shit, and never complaining)
Very nice work !
thanks !!
Really nice work, great use of your gear. Can I ask are they pedal boards on some kind of stand you've got your Volcas and Erebus on?
thanks a lot!! these are guitar pedal boards.. model CNB, that i have put on top of laptop stands
Hello Jouni I hope you are fine, you have not released a new song for a while. but I need my monthly dose of BURG 😃👍🏼
beautiful
thanks !!
It has a nice 80's vibe. So much nicer using real instruments. It feels more natural and fluid.
thanks a lot, appreciated ! cheers
Beautiful stuff man. I can't imagine what it's like being able to sit in there and create whenever you like. Heaven...
Quick question though, where are all your bits of hardware wired or outputted to? Do you have one soundcard with lots of inputs or are they all going into a mixer or what?
Great video, thanks for sharing.
thanks a lot!! i do a lot of submixing, smaller mixers that send stereo pairs to my main mixer, the presonus studiolive 16.0.2, cheers !
Hi man, I love your videos, thank you!
I'm really at a loss for where to start my synth journey and would really love some advice. I love big epic pad sounds and 80's synthwave stuff but have no idea which synth to start with, to help me get to my end goal.
Many thanks for your time.
Jonathan....Are you making any progress with your synth journey? I'm pretty new at it myself.
Go in to a good music store and play around with what you can. There's so much out there. The Volca's are really nice entry level sound sources. Maybe have a look at the Volca FM.. £129 or $100

I myself started with the korg microkorg, it can do a lot but it dosn't really have that analoge sound thow...

Great Work,i Like it !!!
Very "Schulzy" ;-) I love it.
Big thanks!! :D
thank you, loved it!
thanks much !!
Very cool ! Bravo
cheers and thanks !
Great performance 👍🏻. What mixer do you use before your 2-track recording? I find it hard to find hardware mixers that don't have any coloration.
thanks a lot! my main mixer is the presonus studiolive 16.0.2
Do you have any suggestions for a midi controller that can connect to a JX-03 via 5 pin but also sync it with the TR8 somehow
Nice jam!
thanks, cheers !
Really nice track, overhead angle is nice addition to videos too...how long it takes to you to edit all the videomaterial? And what 2 track recorder you use for audio?
thanks ! oh, editing is about 2-3 hours a bit depending on how many cams i have used. 2 track recorder is a zoom q4, cheers
5 steps forever !
oh yes, thats the magic sauce! :D cheers
Chill, it has some CBL to it......yesterday i got a Roland SH201, MC09, MC303, korg EM1 & EA1, minikorg, Yamaha RMX1
& a SP404......FOR FREE, nada, zero :)) ......only 1 ''problem'' i hardly have room for it in my studio anymore, other then that im a lucky mofo :P
Man, how?
A friend ended his hobby & thought i would be the perfect gearslut to take care for his toys ...he was right :)
XHALE303 Well here's to putting that to good use!
CockatooDude Dont worry its in good hands :)
As always loved the performance, are you not recording on the studio live mixer anymore. How do you rate the Zoom recorders ben tempted a few times.
Thanks a lot for coming back and listening! Oh, on this one it just didnt cross my mind to set the mixer up for multitracking. The zoom Q4, which has both audio and video.. audio features and sound quality is great, build quality home user level, video not so much. Another awesome track, my jealousy knows no bounds!

Hey, thanks :) Thats the built in arpeggiator in the system-1, cheers !
So, is the system-1 that great? I heard a lot about it, saying that are other alternative, is the polyphonic good enough? have you got the SH101 too?
genius
cheers and thanks !
