Let’s give Athena Wheaton some thumbs up for her phenomenal video skills!!! One of the reasons I love her editing is that she has such a keen musical ear, so she’s really good at showing what she’s hearing. ALSO, she’s really funny. ALSO, she makes you feel like you’re in the studio with us. She is at least 90% of the reason why you know about Pomplamoose’s French album. So yeah. If you love the videos, tell Athena how awesome she is!!!
You guys all are so talented in your unique ways. All musically gifted. I play brass, and your arrangements make me jealous hahah thank you for another banger!
Athena, i watched with great interest, thanks for a fun feast for the eyes while my ears were going nuclear ☢️!!! ( omgosh that break you little maniacs!)
With the subtitles turned on it becomes so much more than a song. I feel like I am watching a French art film from the 1960's. Anyway beautiful song, great arrangement, and a lot of fun.❤
I find it fascinating that Nataly’s singing style is the opposite of what so many other singers do, which is try to belt out the sound. Her laid back effortless conversational approach is unique. Love to see it!
That guy who plays “noises” kills me. Just the thought of counting rests until your little “bleep bloop” is so fucking funny to me. They all just seem like something that would be done in post. Cool to see it done “live”
My first intro to Pomplamoose was the short for this, and I've been periodically searching it up ever since, waiting for the full release. Beautiful and haunting, all wrapped into one.
Definitely got some of that old school pomplamoose in there - yay!! Jack’s manic face is brilliant - very visual ‘child in a candy shop’ sort of manic!
Holy fk what a ride. The progressive structure of this is like you’re in the middle of a nuclear attack, then the somber haunting off key piano at the end, welcome to the wasteland. Brilliant
Idk if there's an audience for this, but I would absolutely LOVE a video explaining the harmonic analysis of this song. Such a great vibe start to end. Love how you managed to make such an earworm pop hook while still leading the harmony into so many dissonant surprises. Hands down some of my favorite songwriters in the world.
My analysis: it's in the key of H semi-major, with the harmonic 6th going up an 8th interval on the pre-verse, and the choral chords are orthogonal refurbished 3rds in the trixolodian scale. Hope that helps! 😊
I still haven't figured out who loves who in this song Because to me it sounds like Julien loves Anais and stays faithful to Julie only for Julie to get together with Anais later
Everything you guys make is so different than most music I listen to (mostly a metalhead), but I love pretending I'm in the studio with you. Infectious energy, and you are all so talented!
My music teacher showed me this yesterday, he was talking about how the key player got so excited when he played a certain note, everyone in my class was laughing! But yeah, this song is great! Oh, also he told us that Jack owned Patreon? Lol idk if its true but yeah!
Athena, you’re awesome! Also this music is exactly what I aspire to become skilled enough to write and record, how did you know the contents of my brain?
Ty for the translations, it's nice to know when the beautiful song I don't understand is actually beautiful and hits hard. It's funny, the lead singers face drew me in and I remember now it was a cover of put a ring on it you did ages ago is how I recognized. A+
Gosh I've been waiting so long for this song it's definitely lived up to the short, and was even better than I hoped it would be. I still make the same stank face as the band when I listen, it goes so hard. I almost wish the piano at the end had a full song built around it too or I had an extended version, it's beautiful. Been listening on repeat since it came out. Only just now turned the captions on to see the lyrics lol, they fit the chaos and melancholy well, love the autobiographical vibe
i listen to a lot of music and daydream, and this song gives off intergalactic aliens, whose skin reflect the music by pulsing rainbow, having a party. im sort of obsessed with this song atm!
I've been absolutely loving the content! I found your channel through some shorts and I just love the positive atmosphere your band gives off. The style of music is unique and the shorts of watching how everyone puts it together is heart-warming.
Holy shit it’s crazy to see this. I remember finding Jack Contes in my middle school days over 15 years ago! Then Natalie Dawn as well her voice was the first female singer I think I truly enjoyed listening to, was a scene kid with heavy punk rock roots. It’s crazy how sounds can still send the same feelings and bring back memories from a time thought forgotten. 😊 keep it going guys! Your sounds is amazing!
Awesome video!! Kudos to Athens. One of the best I’ve seen in quite awhile. I love watching you guys record. I know it’s hard work but you all seem to be having a blast, especially Jack. He’s got his groove on for sure. Thank you for sharing this.
This is a fun song. I've been watching your shorts for a while and seeing your joy in creating music is infectious. The ending to this song is beautiful. The super saturated old timey sounding piano has a somber or bittersweet emotion to it that plays in contrast to the rest of the song but in such a wonderful way. It balances everything out. I don't speak french so don't know what the song is about but it is a catchy creation. Well done.
As someone who was born with severe hearing loss and a profound passion for music, i have been playing Guitar and keyboard for over 10+ years now and the literal chills i receive when listening to your shorts/videos is unmatched. The audio quality and overall good vibes pomplamoose put out bring tears to my eyes and newfound noise to my ears where i thought it was once lost.
THIS has all my love, Athena showing her amazing video skills piecing this together , I have watch soooo many short 😉to know what it is to piece something like this french master piece together. You guys have rocked my world and have brought so much joy and motivation (not even mentioning the laughs and smiles) to my life.... You guys have worked so hard and have been producing cuisine to my ears and heart, I wish so many blessings upon each and every one of you... much love from South Africa
I’m in love but I know you are already taking just want you to know that I am from Youngstown,Ny and go to Lac Pythonga, Quebec where our family had a Cabin. We belong to a club that was started 125 years ago. Quite a feet . But I listen to Cano ( Francophones ). Beautiful French music and I put to bed my Dad with the melodies and soft music. Remind so musta of those days. My dad passed in the cabin . Some how I would love to hire you to come up . Or we are having are 125 Anniversary of the club in Buffalo,NY in October this year. I know that won’t happen. Keep up the good music and melodies. Good lac from now on.
Amazing music on simple yet efficient lyrics! The alarms blasting at the syrupy tea being told got straight to my gossipy teenager’s brain! 10/10 banger! Thank you!❤
The final product, magnifique! I enjoyed listening to almost as much as watching the video process creating the song. The group of musicians in your creation world are top level, stellar performers. Love it!
First song ive heard and I absolutely love it. Showed up at THE prefect moment to amplify some emotions for me to savor. Was bliss. I've seen some of the shorts and understood you guys were musicians and listended to some bits. Very noive stuff. Was subbed before since i liked the shorts but turning on notifs and searching more songs
These are all phenomenal musicians being recorded and mixed by phenomenal engineers, but the level of songwriting and arrangement on this project is on another level. I can't tell if the constant use of spicy modulations in the context of a song about being lost amongst people sleeping with each other is a prosodic intention or if it's there cause it sounded cool, but the result is genius in any case.
This is my favorite song right now. I don't suppose you would be willing to come to Grand Rapids Mi? Your music fills the gaps that Eliott Smith, Beatles, and Au Revoir Simone left in my heart. Every part is melodic, cathartic, emotional, bliss.
Second video of yours to watch today. New subscriber. This was fun to watch. Especially after you started smiling and looking like you were having a good time as the singer, along with everyone else.
UA-cam shorts brought me here. I'm not mad about it. The lyrics for this song are pretty fun. I love the idea of someone being envious of a love triangle
Let’s give Athena Wheaton some thumbs up for her phenomenal video skills!!! The edit is * chef`s kiss* - Congrats Athena (awesome name BTW).
The original Pomplamoose video style returns… at the NEXT LEVEL! ❤ You may co-own it!
HUGE props to her for the brilliant and funny visual expression of this song! Had me captivated from start to finish ❤
One of the greatest You Tube algorithm suggestions I have ever gotten is Pomplamoose.
Real

I think deep inside we're all trying to find the version of the universe that Jack is living in.
Love the lofi end. Very fitting of your style.
@@rockestee It's like you put extra effort into making your comment as annoying as possible to read. Love the msg, hate the messenger.
nah. most of us just wish Jack Conte was literally in a different universe altogether, but really we all made Jack Conte. Such a tragedy.
@@nathanreiber6819 what are you so god damn salty and/or jealous about?

As a musician, I LOVE watching you guys all have a blast making incredible music.

Finally!!!!!
in case you're curious: it's called a modular synth. "look mum no computer" has some interesting videos on them.
I totally agree! 😂😍😎
I would think he's just improvising after seeing their videos in the studio but it's still funny
It's absurd how much ambience and pure vibes this stuff can add to music
The piano at the end was such a quality touch.
can anyone tell me the chords to that piano outro?
After stumbling across your shorts and binging through tons of your content, I think I've just discovered my new favourite band. This is so good!
I did the ecact same thing
Good to see people discovering them
My first intro to Pomplamoose was the short for this, and I've been periodically searching it up ever since, waiting for the full release. Beautiful and haunting, all wrapped into one.

There’s DEFINITELY an audience! I feel like there’s a lot of overlap between pomplamoose fans and music theory nerds
@@Nerdorkgeekalso, you can see them talk about how the song is being made, changes, melodies and stuff that will fit well.. and is really interesting
My analysis: it's in the key of H semi-major, with the harmonic 6th going up an 8th interval on the pre-verse, and the choral chords are orthogonal refurbished 3rds in the trixolodian scale. Hope that helps! 😊
Maybe suggest it to The Charismatic Voice lady.
1:11 Jack's face is the exact expression of my mind listening to this song. Awesome job Nataly & crew
I didn’t realise the story lines connected to the other songs in the album!! Very cool!!!!!
I still haven't figured out who loves who in this song
Because to me it sounds like Julien loves Anais and stays faithful to Julie only for Julie to get together with Anais later
Nice to see Molly Miller on guitar. She's a great musician, and always looks like she is having a lot of fun playing.
I am so deeply in love with this song. The outro crushed my tin can heart down into loose pocket change.
This feels simultaneously like classic pomplamoose and new pomplamoose all wrapped up with a nice synthetic keyboard bow! I love it;
I am just absolutely in love with each of these songs that you release for this album. I can't wait for the full drop!
Everything you guys make is so different than most music I listen to (mostly a metalhead), but I love pretending I'm in the studio with you. Infectious energy, and you are all so talented!
Totally met and exceeded my expectations, this is gonna be stuck in my head for a while.

Oh, also he told us that Jack owned Patreon?
Lol idk if its true but yeah!
This video style reminds me of the old Pomplamoose videos, but upgraded and given more flare!!!! Love it ❤
I'm looking forward to hearing these songs in order. The French album seems like a throwback to albums that held together as a whole
Oh my lord, that upright piano finale? Chills
Athena, you’re awesome! Also this music is exactly what I aspire to become skilled enough to write and record, how did you know the contents of my brain?
Finally Nuclear Kittens!!! is out! I was waiting for this one. It did not disappoint! I also love the subtle queer representation. Greatly appreciated
I saw the short and just had to hear the whole song.
Absolutely wonderful work on both the song and the video. Sublime!

wow c'est génial ce que vous faites, vraiment très classe d'avoir le son saturé du synthé en plus votre funk !!
It made me smile to hear this and to watch these folks delight in the pure joy of creating music. Thanks😀🎵
Athena, you're awesome. The video totally reflects the childlike whimsy of this crew and this song. You're all awesome. Don't grow up.
Enfin ! On les attendait ces chatons nucléaires ! Grettings from France 🇫🇷
Can’t wait for the new album! I’ve been enjoying all your guys shorts and videos the last few months. Keep up the good energy!
Insane is not a world I use lightly. Love this so much great job to everyone who worked on it and love that melancholic outro

Pomplamoose is super crazy liquid tension maker band and I just love them so much! every time I watch them, I start to get amazed by a newness!
Love that bit of acoutstic piano.
Musique très inventive et intelligemment construite. 👍
An acoustic version of this song would be sick, I imagine it with a full orchestra and everything
this is my new favorite song. I'm at about 70ish listens back to back.
Athena Wheaton did an incredible job with this editing, JUST WOW. And you guys, absolutely killing the new songs like usual!!!!

This song is even better after watching a bunch of clips of them going through the creation process. SO good!
This piano ending is absolutely gorgeous
This is what Pomplamoose has been meant to be from its inception, it's all been preparing for this incredibly French banger.
This song SLAPS! Also, the video work is so great and playful. All that effort to give everyone their own little cutout windows is so worth it.

I saw the "making of" short, but had somehow missed the full song until just now. It's great! (Very A-Ha bass line, too.)
Really enjoy the interesting chord changes and fun melodies on this track. The piano coda was a really neat and effective surprise. Keep it up!

Jack lol - pure joy
That was a ride! I love the ending, it ties off the harmonious chaos of that song very well.
Hearing the effect on the piano at the end transported me into some of the most chilling parts of Outer Wilds.
Its so AMAZING being in the center of a love story..I really miss it.
this is wild!!
i can't believe its possible to "actually play" a modular synth like that. going to need to see more of what peter can do.
Is noone going to talk about Nataly when she hits the highnote at 2:36? It is somehow so adorable and impressive. I'm having a musical crush.
