New Hope & Ivyland Railroad 40: The New Hope Express

- Over Memorial Day Weekend, the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad ran their 2-8-0 steam locomotive number 40 from Friday until Monday. On each of these four days, number 40 powered 3 trips between New Hope and Buckingham Valley. Despite the occasional rain and unseasonably cold temperatures, we headed out on Saturday for our first trip of 2021. The dreary weather made for an incredible plume of smoke to billow out of 40's stack, something usually only occurring during the cold, winter months.
Making the best of what mother nature had to offer on this late May day, we were able to capture an impressive show of steam with fresh greenery, something that has become rare on the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, as this was the first time 40 has run during the summer months since 2014. So sit back, relax, and enjoy steam through the woods of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with locomotive number 40 on the point of the New Hope Express.

Excellent work Mark! The greenery combined with the white plumes of steam is very eye catching!
Thanks Vince! I have to agree! Much nicer than the typical brown that goes along with the white smoke. Certainly a nice change!
Nice video of 40. Bucks County is so pretty!
Thank you! And you got that right! It sure is nice
Another fantastic video Mark. She’s got a lovely whistle if I have to say so myself.
Keep up the great filming, you’re filming nothing short of American pride on the rails.
Thanks, Jackson! It surely is a great whistle, one of my favorites! And I’ll try my best to keep providing high quality videos! 🙂
I love the NH&I 40!
Me too!
Great work, Mark! It’s nice to see 40 running in the summer.

Man, that is some incredible 4K! New camera I suppose? Awesome job, Mark!
Thanks, Dan!! That’s actually my current camera upscaled to 4K to make it better quality on UA-cam. The power of editing 😉
@@MPT_Productions Ah I see!
Are there any NH&I caboose survivors besides the restored C-127 caboose?
not sure
@@MPT_Productions there were 3 cabooses, but don’t know where they are now. Just curious!
@@MPT_Productions I think they were 3 wooden cabooses before the newly restored C-127 Caboose.
