Western Maryland 1309: The Frostburg Christmas Flyer

For the second year in a row, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad operated 1309 on a series of "Polar Express" Christmas excursions. In addition to the trips that originated out of Cumberland, 1309 also pulled a weekend of excursions originating out of Frostburg. These trips allowed for more shots as the locomotive moved the train from Cumberland to Frostburg each morning. Additionally, running out of Frostburg provided more chances to film the locomotive at locations difficult to access on the typical runs between Cumberland and Frostburg. As a result, there were plenty of great opportunities to capture 1309 on some of its last runs of 2022. For these excursions, 1309 wore a New York Central 6 Chime which sounded fantastic echoing across the mountains. So sit back, relax, and enjoy seeing 1309 on some of its final runs of 2022.

Thank you! It was real nice having the trips run out of Frostburg since you could get shots all the way from Cumberland to Frostburg in the morning and then hike into some locations not often shot due to the long walks for the normal trips.
