Amazing that someone who “works” for Disney can’t identify when content is made to ENTERTAIN people and to encourage them to use their imaginations in the process.
Honestly I kind of wish they would bring back tickets for the ridss, do away with annual passes, lightning lanes, genie, and all the other nickel and dime up charging. I would rather have a relatively low park admission price and use individual ride tickets to help control queue times. I would not mind paying a lot for an enjoyable day at Disneyland where you don't get exhausted by eternal line wait times. Over an hour for peter pan is just not doable for me. Bring Back A, B, C, D, E, and maybe even F tickets for the very top attractions like ROTR, and Temple of the Eternal Wait. I think the result of this would lessen people chaining rides, sending more people to other activities like shows, parades, shopping, etc. and make for a better experience for guests with reduced wait times while being revenue neutral or maybe a little revenue positive for Disney. My wife for example hardly goes on any rides yet she pays the same admission as a teen that will power ride all day long at all the E ticket attractions causing crowds that block families, groups, and lots of other demographics from a good visit, and its those other demographics that spend money in the park so IMHO they are more important to serve.
Grizzy River Run, the Challenge Trail (a must for families with children), and the whole area is far and away the nicest part of DCA and sets up a beautifully functional border for the Grand Californian. I can't imagine shoving Pandora in there and giving the folks at the GC a great show building view for their 800 a night rooms...
I mean they didn’t care about the sightlines being ruined when they had the ugly mission breakout tower visible from almost everywhere in the park, so iger probably won’t care this time either. Plus it gives him a chance to re theme the grand Californian hotel to avatar and charge double Also suspiciously not too long after igers recent announcement the redwood creek area was walled off
Razing Grizzly Peak to put in a new attraction seems like a big fucking endeavor, would ruin the views from the resort’s deluxe hotel and plagues resort guests with construction noise they can hear from their rooms. I think there’s no chance Razing the Carousel Theater building and Alien Pizza planet would be a lot easier and would give a decent plot of land for something new. And I doubt Space Mountain is going anywhere, so even if the bus turn around gets moved across harbor, any expansion wouldn’t really affect the land between space mountain and Autopia. I still think that’s the best guess for where it will go
@@genappithy would that be enough room though? (Razing the theatre and pizza planet). Also I don’t think they would completely raze grizzly peak. They would do what iger does best, re theme it. Soarin could just play the flight of passage ride video footage. I know Soarin and flight of passage don’t use the same ride system but they could still have that same general feel of flying. Grizzly river run could be rethemed to Navi river journey. And since the whole grizzly peak area already has a wildlife/nature feel they could just toss some alien looking plans around and call it a day. I’m not saying I want them to do that but if you think in igers perspective it would be the easiest and fastest option. If he builds it from scratch it’ll take a long while like years, but if he does a re theme it wouldnt take very long. Also Disneyland really has no space for it unless they mess with Tomorrowland which they have shown for a long time that they don’t wanna work on. At California adventure they could either do a grizzly peak re theme or try and cram it in the Hollywood backlot area. I know iger lies or doesn’t keep his promises usually but I don’t think he would announce it this early if it was part of Disneyland forward since that is still very far off.
If they get rid of grizzly peak then this eliminates all possibilities of the Country Bears from returning to Disneyland, this is already in a pretty bad spot since critter country is screwed up after tiana took over splash, this could also have been a possible opportunity to relocated the Winnie the Pooh ride to grizzly peak since he is technically a bear, but whatever California Adventure is no longer what it is so just destroy what isn’t broken
@@dayoldbread1696They COULD do that, but how does this improve capacity? I question the guest experience as well. I don’t believe people will get excited over simply reskinned existing attractions for this IP.
Love your honesty at the end of the video. I agree that Avatar/Pandora works for Animal Kingdom, and I too would like to see something new done in Tomorrowland and DCA. I’d prefer that WED do different things here in Anaheim vs Orlando … that would actually benefit both parks, increase attendance/demand at both, which seems like a better long term strategy.
An Avatar indoor boat ride on the scale of Pirates of the Caribbean would be the ideal integration of Avatar into DLR. And that attraction going into DCA would be a win-win since DCA has always been lacking an indoor boat ride.
So sad that DCA isn’t at all about it California anymore. Really love it as it was at opening. The grand Californian with the trees & grizzly river run is beautiful and really akin to Yosemite/Kings Canyon National parks
I’m not sure what’s missing but the Soaring over California ride I liked a lot more then soaring over the world. For what that’s worth. Soaring over California with the red woods was awesome.
@@G-Zen California looked so much better, being California Adventure Park, you got to see some really cool places and it fit in better with the theme. I preferred it
Hate to say it but you're alone on this. DCA has been bashed for years for its Cali theming. Why visit Cali in Cali? It'd be like having Epcot be about Florida rather than a World Showcase lol. Love what you love, idc. I miss aspects of the park as well. BUT statistically, I think that park attendance has only gone up with Cars Land (not Cali themed).
I’d rather an experience rather than an entire land. Avatar just isn’t as popular as it was when the first film came out. It’s been a huge up in the air question of if the second film really did make as much as what was claimed since it seems not that many people actually saw it. I don’t hate Avatar but I do feel the sequel took far too long to come out. I would like to visit the land at Animal Kingdom and I’m sure I’ll love it. I just don’t love the idea of putting something like that at Disneyland. Star Wars is an established loved franchise and that land has been a hit. Avatar though? I don’t think it will have the staying power
It's crazy people want a land made out of something that only has 2 movies and mediocre ones at that. If they would make a Marvel land actually badass and not half-ass like they did, a phase 2 expansion of it would be well received and even make people crave more media from Marvel. Let's be honest - Epic Universe is going to be king of the 2020s and phase 2 builds there which are already planned will likely keep it on top till 2030 and beyond. Universal is a better value and is killing it in terms of rides and experiences.
@@SanitizeR_OWI don’t trust Disney to keep their promises either but they did show a wakanda themed expansion of avengers campus for Disneyland forward. So that could be decent assuming Disney doesn’t cancel it or cheap out on it. Also that avengers e ticket ride is coming still. Trust me I was already thinking Disney scrapped it again but people have pointed out that Disney can’t cancel it. Because the oriental land company contributed money towards the development of it so Disney is contractually required to have a new avengers ride ready for Hong Kong Disneylands avengers campus. Even back when it was the quinjet ride (1st iteration before the multiverse ride took its place) it was going to be here at dca first then cloned at Hong Kong Disneyland. So the same thing is still happening for the multiverse ride. Imagineers have been taking measurements and scouting after park closing so something is happening lately. Of course I just wonder how long it’ll be until we hear more info about it. Probably at d23 this August.
no matter how they build this, there is just no way to make this land fit in with the theming or fit into the area of the parks. I wish they would put the money into making more original attractions for disneyland and fixing tomorrowland instead of copy pasting pre existing lands.
I agree Tomorrowland needs to be fixed. Hasn’t been great since the People Movers, America Sings and the Skyway. The land was booming and you could feel that energy.
@@pokemypotatoWhen did I say I lived in Orlando? I am close to Disneyland and I would rather them make something original than make a clone of an animal kingdom land. Isn’t it boring when you go to two different parks and it’s the same rides and lands?
@@Bnkl-f2h Its not boring to get a Avatar themed area that you’ve always wanted in your area just cuz its been placed in a completely different side of the States 😂😂 I ain’t flying to Orlando for all that, like it sucks that only Orlando has it. Its simply for convenience and just being an overall Avatar fan
@@jdos5643 It will definitely be dependent on Forward. I’m thinking the Hollywoodland plot since there’s also the bus pickup area behind it that’s also part of Forward. They’re planning to build a new bus pickup as part of the Eastern Gateway project.
Im sold with the location of grizzly run! Though I've not watched either Avatar movies, what I have seen of Animal Kindom, and the Valley of Mo'ara with the Biolumenecence does look amazing
I’m with you and not super stoked on Pandora coming to Disneyland. It works at Animal Kingdom but as a franchise, it’s just not for me. I wouldn’t be gutted to see Autopia go away but I really love the area around GRR and would be bummed to lose it. Thanks for all you do!
Honda sponsorship of Autopia ends in 2026, so nothing can happen with the land before then. And as one of the last remaining attractions with a corporate sponsor it’ll probably stick around as long as they can find new sponsors. Reskinning the submarine voyage to the way of water could be fun, but sadly the capacity is way to low to make that viable
Grizzly river run is one of the top draws for me in the entirety of the parks…. Especially in the summer… And since splash mountain is gone and I don’t have high hopes for it lackluster replacement, the Griz is my go to for water rides and fun! I say, no touchy touchy to the Grizzly!
If they make avatar land I hope they make the avatar ride video more smooth and better quality, I always get nauseous on that one, and disney knows this and has the ride pause by the water for a few moments to let the nauseous moment calm down a bit to make it thru the ride
If they put Pandora in the Grizzly Peak area, they would just reskin Grizzly River Run to be an alternate version of Navi River Journey, replace the interior of Soarin with FOP, and do some different theming in the Challenge Trail area.
@@uatu_the_watcherthey could do that Atlantis re theme of the subs they had planned in the 90s. Where you help Milo pick up treasure off of the sea floor using robot arms
@@jdos5643it’s not as easy as it seems, despite the fact that Disney already has purchased land from the left side of the parks to build another supposed theme park, any other parts of the land is basically an average city with traffic and residences living nearby, Disney could not easily buy out and other land without getting sued from others who own that land, so Disneyland is basically screwed up despite being Walt’s first ever park, especially with the mess that is DCA, and so the park is always going to destroy or retheme already good attractions
Or in the entire block bounded by Disneyland Dr, Magic Way, W Ball and S Walnut as they already proposed once and even filed paperwork with the City of Anaheim. They could even use the parking on the other side of Magic Way next to the Resort and turn the Downtown Disney lot into a multi-story parking garage...besides the one planned for across Harbor Way. I'd even go so far as to replace those surface lots with parking garages and extend the monorail to them with entrances...but that's just me spit balling some ideas.
I don’t care for water rides either, so grizzly isn’t a big draw for me, but I do like the vibes of the area. As soon as you pointed out it’s a seasonal attraction that doesn’t really move merchandise, that takes out any weight of my “vibes” argument to keeping the area. I know Disney will choose a year round, merch moving idea over a vibe. I feel the same way as you do. Replacing autopia or grizzly with avatar would be an upgrade, even with me not really being an avatar fan. I will appreciate the vibes regardless of how this all shakes out.
The only reason Avatar gets full in Animal Kingdom is because there's no other rides in that park. it makes sense on DCA on Grizzly area because it would disperse people more. but i'm not sure who is hype for Avatar.
As the case with Cars Land, Avatar Land would make more sense within the framework of DCA, not Disneyland. The park premiering in 2001 remains the weak sister of DL, premiering in 1955. So it needs a major shot in the arm more than DL does. Also, a total net increase instead of a net decrease is needed. That's why nothing major in a Disney park, certainly in land-locked Anaheim, should be eliminated to make way for a new attraction. Splash Mt being replaced by Tiana Bayou Adventure is already bad enough.
Great video...But I'll be honest - I'd be sad to lose GRR... I know it's so much easier for them to just pull a copy & paste - But if they do Avatar I'd hope it would be something new!
My feelings on it is they are going to extend fantasyland and place a Beaty and the beast ride or frozen ride where autopia is. Or they extend Tomorrowland and place tron there. I worked Nemo and monorail and have thought about this a lot lol
To me it's a head scratcher that Disney wants to keep pouring tons of money into new investments when they don't do anything to maintain what they already have (aka Tomorrow Land.) Who do they think they are, Six Flags?
They also don't like to put much money into those investments either. It's a shame that the international parks are so much better, but at the same time those parks are technically owned and operated by a third party who personally invests in their experiences not really Disney proper. So Disney is being outshown by third parties with their own IPs.
@@keiichimorisato98exactly, I wish the oriental land company would be able to run the us parks here. Their parks are getting amazing rides and additions like fantasy springs and beauty and the beast. While here at Disneyland/dca we are getting cheap lame re themes like Pixar pier and San Fransokoyo, and terrible rides like web slingers.
The general concensus is that copy and paste attractions and lands are cheaper but really how much cheaper is it to make it so prevelant? I live close to Walt Disney World and the exclusive attractions is what makes me want to visit other Disney resorts so I dont want to have to travel to see that same thing I could at home. I hope this is a different take on Avatar like the new movie focused on water.
As much as I love Grizzly River Run and the icon it was for DCA when it first opened, I think it's appropriately sized for Pandora. But like you, it's just hard to see the appeal of Avatar at Disneyland and I've never recognized it as having a cult following like Star Wars has. Autopia or the Hollywood Backlot are spots that need a reimagining though imo, and I'm hopeful that Disney will make something really cool to take over those spots.
Leave Disneyland park alone. They need to leave the Grizzly Peak area alone too. I'd love to see Pandora, but I'd rather see it in the expansion areas from Disneyland forward. I'd like to see a third gate on the Toy Story lot.
Honestly. The level of immersion that universal has been doing lately outshines Disney. Harry Potter is your prime example, they fumbled to acquire that, and they didn’t fully explore the possibilities of Galaxys Edge.
Let's be real that's Never gonna happen. Disneyland is just a unstoppable juggernaut. Despite prices the place just brings in non stop cash daily. People love the place and it ain't showing no signs of slowing down.
@@jackob.graphic5143I wish universal would build another park here somewhere in Southern California, that way they could better compete with Disney. Although I don’t know where it could go.
Taking out a one of a kind classic rides in a park that often fills quickly to add short rides with low capacity doesn’t make sense so Disney will probably do it. Makes more sense to add it to DCA which needs rides for additional capacity makes sense. Be careful comparing Animal Kingdom usage because that park has very few rides to begin with so of course everything Avatar has long lines.
It makes the most sense to plop it where autopia is. 1. It can be built almost like a bowl shaped stadium, the structure being mountains. If they place the floating mountains correctly, and paint snow on the sides facing the Matterhorn, it would make the Matterhorn BETTER. They could make it so, from the outside, nothing looks like it's floating. That these are just solid mountains from the Pennine Alps. Inside the land, a series of, what then look like floating islands, gradually fade to lighter colors, making the peak of the matterhorn maybe even look like it fits with the theme in pandora too. 2. It's more futuristic than the ancient cars in autopia. You would round the corner and instead of seeing old gas power cars, there would be a spaceship or a mech! This seems win win to me if they can pull off my point 1 artfully. I'll be devastated if they remove grizzly river. I love that area. I agree it could use an IP, but I want it to fit the theme of what is there.
Hey Brickey! Saw you the day you filmed it. I came off the train at Main Street and we admired our tastes in VG gear. You were off to DCA I believe. I think the project is more feasible in DCA than in Tomorrowland. Aside from the Peoplemover and Monorail removal logistics, the submarine show building is a whole other issue. It was built to 1950’s fallout shelter specs and the reinforced concrete will take quite a bit of money and effort to remove it. The treeline in the Grizzly River Run/Redwood Creek area will serve as a ready made buffer for Pandora. Thanks again for another great video!
Funny no one mentions that fantasyland theater, they don’t use it or have any use. I can see them demo that portion and plotting the land between galaxy’s edge and toontown. Removing autopia is way too much work.
To someone who has never been on GRR: it's more than just a water ride. The fact that groups of all ages get to ride facing each other is unlike any other ride. I never laugh harder and see bigger smiles on my kids than on this ride. The threat of the next splash, the spinning, the sounds- all get spun together in a unique sort of "party ride" where everyone is in it together. And sharing in all of the reactions. I highly recommend it for a lot of fun. I undersand that getting wet and walking around isn't always great. But those who pass up on it as just a "water ride" are missing memories to make with their crew.
Possible locations: 1. If you walk by Small World, and see the gate to the far right... the area just to the right of the walkway, that's where the motorboats used to be. 2. Behind the aforemention gate is the Roundhouse for the trains and monorail, TWDC is considerating that Roundhouse and up to the Team Center to be utilized for expansions.
I enjoy the Avatar films and have contributed plenty to those box-office revenues, but I agree that it doesn't deserve a land at the Disneyland Resort. Bob Iger seems to be misinterpreting the box office revenue as widespread popularity. But Avatar isn't Star Wars or Frozen. That's because it's impossible to recreate James Cameron's vision in real life. The Walt Disney World land comes close (mostly because of the giant screen and 3D glasses), but that's because Avatar was always intended to be experienced in IMAX 3D. No home theater viewing experience can possibly do it justice, so people have to see it in theaters for a limited time if they want to see it at all. The ticket sales are a result of a rare, truly blockbuster film franchise getting a new installment--not because their kids are watching it on repeat on Disney+. I am a fan of James Cameron's vision of Pandora, yet I'm okay with it staying where it belongs--on the biggest screen possible. 😊
Great content on this. I think you nailed it at the end. While both areas look aesthetically pleasing, I'm not sure who's asking for this. I would prefer this to be part of Disneyland Forward, but I'm guessing not. I guess the biggest issue I'm having besides nobody asking for it, is that this isn't something Disney created. They just bought an existing IP, put their name on it and called it theirs....and now we're to just accept this? I'd rather it was organically created and developed from Disney.
I hope this ends up in CA. I think Star Wars is out of sync with what DL is about, and Avatar would be too. The problem with Avatar at CA, is that Soaring is a very similar ride. Good Work! Your videos are very insightful.
Thanks for the update Brickey. I too could care less about Avatar and would prefer not to see it come and totally change Disneyland Resort. I think your placements are pretty right on if they did do it and they would eat up some low volume footage, but like you said in the video, Avatar just doesn't have the following or legacy that Star Wars, MCU, princesses, etc. has. Always appreciate your thoughtful honesty and opinions. I think that is what makes you a true citizen of Disneyland.
NOOOOOOO! Disney needs to stop putting copies of stuff in Disneyland Resort's very limited precocious space. Bob Iger, come on, what is going on with the thinking over there? And yeah, Avatar doesn't feel Disney at all to me, either. But then again, neither does Marvel.
I think it’s great how you show the way something a fit into existing areas. I however am not interested in Pandora coming to Disneyland and really enjoying the Grizzly Peaks area of DCA. If Grizzly River Run needed IPA you can theme it to the movie Brave with the demon bear. Idk if Pandora would fit in the Hollywood Back Lot area of DCA ? But I think that would be better as maybe an X-men campus or some type of Marvel extension. Leave Pandora in Animal Kingdom or possibly in a third Anaheim park ? Idk if the second Avatar movie even did that well ? Keep up the good work! You did a great job presenting it even if we don’t like the IP.
Considering the park is nothing today the Hollywood backlot would become another expansion to the already eyesore that is avenger campus, and grizzly peak could potentially house the country bears and the Winnie the Pooh ride since critter country is wrecked by Tiana destroying splash mountain
Actually if they did a full redo of Tomorrowland and made the space more efficient, I feel like the area of Autopia would actually be alright for Avatar. If they do it right they could still have an underground show building (after rebuilding it) and it could either be more space for Avatar or still be available for Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland pretty much takes up the entire right side of the park yet it's home to only six full rides so it would make sense to condense and split up.
I agree that it doesn’t have too much of a backing/culture here on west coast/Disneyland. I’m not excited about it and would be mad that the ticket prices would obv go up for a land that isn’t popular- who wants another slow ride? Nobody lol. They should extend fantasyland and bring a frozen land along with the ride that’s at WDW. It would be very popular and goes with the snowy Matterhorn!
There is also an employee parking lot across from the Sheraton on Harbor blvd. It's not exactly close to Disneyland and DCA, but there is substantial acreage where park expansion could go. Perhaps via a pedestrian tunnel or themed subway?
@@rosariobono438to the left of the whole Disney land park and DCA park, basically along where the Pixar hotel and Disney hotel as well as the parking lots are located is where a park expansion will happen, a very long rectangle of land
I absolutely love the whole Grizzly River Wilderness area. Its my favorite spot in DCA. The vibe is so good. Id hate to see anyrhing happen to it, but you can't stop "progress".
I'll add to those who don't get thrilled by the idea of Avatar land, and I certainly hope if they were to do it, they don't clone the current land. Navi River Journey should not be build again anywhere. the only reason it gets ridden is there is not much to do in that land, and it is a nice 15 minute climate controlled space in the deathly heat and humidity of Florida. It is certainly not loved, . Maybe something similar to flight of passage, but even if so, make it different. Make it at least a different story. That said, Autopia should go away. Yes it is something of an opening day attraction, but it is a relic of the 1950s and doesn't really work today. Grizzly River might be a fun ride, but people just don't use it enough to justify that huge part of the park it uses. Whether it is Avatar or something else, whatever is in that space needs to be far more productive than GRR
Im surprised nobody is going with Grizzly Peak. Floating mountains would be a cheap overlay. Make the rapids ride themed to way of water, paint the floor fluorescent and its a wrap
I think the avatar experience is going to happen where innovations used to be and if they do build a land it will be a part of their Disney forward project. They did something very similar before the opening of galaxies edge where that building just became a Star Wars building until the land opened to build up hype.
As much as I would love to keep the submarines I think they need to go. Autopia and Monorail supports sit on top of the underground show building that I am sure is not structurally sufficient to build on top of, along with the high elevation that would put a future show building too high. It also makes sense since you have the old revolving theater that has not housed a ride since America Sings directly adjacent. So the theater, autopia, subs go, and monorail gets a reroute, and that will open up a massive portion of the park for development and it would make sense to expand fantasyland since more IPs fit that theme than any of the other lands. I would also support the river run going even though a cool off water ride is nice on a summer day. Sadly Disney has used up all of its space (again) so they will soon need to again build on their parking lots and obtain more land to push parking farther from the park, or create a new gate in one of the remote lots.
Instead, of the simulation ride they have at pandora animal kingdom, I hope they make a avatar themed Rollercoaster, disneyland could sure use more thrill rides.
Another banger of a video from Brickey! I don’t think they would put the back of a show building next to the flagship hotel of the resort and compromise the views and vibes. There’s a reason they built it at the old Camp Mickey-Minnie exterior cul du sac of DAK and not right between the Grand Floridian and the castle. Seeing the back of avatar as you drive into the parking lot can already break the magic for some guests. On the contrary, it would be nice to finally get to enjoy Pandora at night since DAK closes too early to make that possible.
An Avatar “land” doesn’t necessarily mean it has to have Flight of Passage. There is no reason why a new and unique ride can’t be introduced for the West Coast Pandora. Plus, if it DID have FOP, and WAS in DCA, you’d literally have Soarin’ and Soarin’ 3D (FOP) 50 feet from each other.
They should just re-theme Star Tours to avatar or tear down launch bay and put avatar ride attraction in there! I personally don’t see them tearing down grizzly River run since the area is amazing All the tall trees now. I know you wouldn’t want to see them take away villains Grove.
Great video! The new concept art for Avatar released today clearly shows a GRR style attraction, so looks like your reasoning that it would go in that section sounds more credible. However Bob said it will possibly happen if Disneyland Forward is approved. To me, sounds like it's still possible it could still be built in the Westside expansion areas by the hotels. Now that they got approval to get ride of the roads between the parks and hotels, it will make it easier to expand into those areas. Keep up the good work!
Every time he talks about it he leaves a new breadcrumb, and today's was that loose Disneyland Forward mention. Which could change things big time. Glad you enjoyed the video!
It's great to see the conversation that your videos have been inspiring lately. While I am also NOT an Avatar fan, your ideas for what could be are exciting to ponder. 🤘
Remember that episode of “The Office” when Michael Scott finds out Toby returned? Remember his reaction? Yeah…THAT is how I feel about ANYTHING Avatar coming to Disneyland.
Putting this land in California Adventure is the right answer. They could make another great motion simulator in Flight of Passage, a great boat/flume ride in Navi River Journey, and maybe even a Rollercoaster or Indiana Jones-esque ride. They just have to do what they can to not get rid of Grizzly River Run. That ride is a classic. An entirely new land would completely change the perception of the CA park.
I like the Avatar movies but I agree with you. I don't necessarily want it at Disneyland. There is so many Disneyland rides that they have recreated at Disneyworld that are not received well because they are not the same. As such, it seems like some parks get the lesser attractions, which is what I fear will happen with an Avatar attraction at Disneyland, they don't have the space or the money to make it nearly as grand as Pandora. And that's okay. We don't need it. I just wish they would realize that and do something else, if they insist on tearing up already exisiting attractions.
The lack of culture behind Avatar is a good point. Has a timeline for this buildout been released? Galaxy's Edge took about 3 years to build if I recall...
They’re still some of the most watched movies of all time though. I think avatar is more of a “vibe” and visual aesthetic type of movie as opposed to something that has a lot of culture behind it
If the WDC doeen't want to fail, their best bet would be to create on new grounds & not replace anything currently at the park. The 2 greatest open spots would be the Toy Story parking lot off Harbor blvd and the current DTD parking lot. Those are two perfect spacious lots that could fit Pandora, IMO.
I would LOVE to see Avatar go into the Autopia/Sub area! Moreso than over at DCA...but I agree Grizzly River run is a bit underused and seasonal, but if you're there during summer I enjoy being able to cool off. I never ride Autopia...the gas fumes are overwhelming and it's a tired attraction. Avatar would be amazing there! And leaving the monorail there would be great. I'd love to ride through avatar on the monorail and I think it ties in with the modern teleporting parts of avatar, being in Tomorrowland.
Disney builds new lands on virgin land. Just because he said Disneyland, he could be referring to the whole resort. They are unlikely to raze Tomorrowland to install Avatar Land. They are more likely to use Simba parking lot. It’s a lot cheaper to not change just about everything in Tomorrowland. Besides, Disney walked back Iger’s comments. Disney is more likely to add Tron in Tomorrowland since the changes aren’t as extensive.
Just had a thought if it is Grizzly Peak area - they could use the tech from Villains Grove to make the redwood challenge trail like a bioluminescent forest at night!
Watching some of the Anaheim council meeting where they were considering approval of Disney's plan, sound and light impacts and mitigation where discussed. Avatar in DW being very quiet day and night, fairly dark at night, and only indoor rides, best fits in the parking lot between the DL hotel and parking garage due to its proximity to the residential area just west of their
I’m with you. I would prefer Avatar/Pandora not come to the Disneyland Resort. While the land at Disney Animal Kingdom is beautiful, the attractions are just OK. I’ve never understood the Avatar hype. It seems more like a Universal product IMHO.
If they do go ahead with an Avatar land, I also suspect it would go in the Grizzly Peak area of DCA. However I don't think they would demo the whole area and build a replica of the Animal Kingdom version. Instead I think they would keep the Grizzly River Run ride but do an extensive retheme to Avatar (like how they did with Splash Mountain/Tiana's Bayou Adventure). They'd also retheme the Redwood Trail and entire Grizzly Peak area to Pandora. Soarin' would be replaced by Flight of Passage, not sure if they would fit it in the current building or make a new one.
Well said! That is what I was thinking too and it’s the most likely outcome. Because at least here at the so cal parks iger has been on a spree of cheap re themes so it wouldn’t be surprising.
Yup, and since DCA is just a squished excuse of IPs why not just destroy grizzly peak and add that into the park which means Hollywood backlot will be the very last remaining place of the original DCA
Excellent analysis. THANK YOU!! Avatar is super mid !!! Better Ideas for Lands: X-Men campus Coruscant Temple with Force Ghosts Halloween Land (Nightmare before Christmas) Miles Morales into the Spiderverse Onward
Wonderful analysis as always. I think they could take soaring and re-theme it to an Avatar soaring experience since it would otherwise be a thematic outlier and yes on Grizzly - which we also will never ride - and take out the play area which is cheap to demolish and they could over take the Ariel ride too - that’s an outlier that doesn’t fit with anything else. The kids play area is lovely and my kids used to play there but it’s not what sells tickets - it was just a place to kill some time (for us). They could add kid interactive avatar elements instead. They can change smoke jumpers into avatar themed restaurant. This land could be big and would deal with a lot of thematically disconnected parts of the Park.
I think it's fits better in Grizzly Peak, than the back lot or Sorrowland. I like that they are investing money in the park, but not sure Avatar is the right move.
While Disney has reverted to saying an Avatar "Experience" is coming to DLR, there is some speculation that Disney is doing this because Bob Iger essentially jumped the gun and announced "land" before they were ready to announce "land". Beyond that, since they are also saying "Disneyland Resort", that does not necessarily mean Disneyland Park. It could also be DCA. My own theory (not that I want to see this, because I would much rather see an entire new land) - A re-theme of Grizzly Peak in DCA. Disney has already made changes to most of the rest of the park from California theming to IP theming. I could very easily see them re-theming Grizzly River Run's current theming to Pandora theming, re-theming Redwood Creek Trail to a Pandora look, Smokejumpers to something similar to Satu'li Canteen in Animal Kingdom, and even changing up Soarin' to something different, (similar to but not exactly like Flight of Passage. And for the record, the Soarin' screen is actually bigger than the screen used for Flight of Passage). Like I said, this isn't something I want to see because I would rather see a whole new land, but I could very easily see Disney going this route to save money while at the same time being able to tell their guests, "See? We're making improvements to the parks!"
I think that Goofy's Sky School, Silly Symphony Swings, Golden Zeppelins, and Jumpin Jellyfish should be rethemed or replaced by something here are the suggestions 1. Retheme it into a land area into the Muppets the reason why I say that is that after Disney got rid of Muppet Vision 3-D Disneyland does not have a Muppets themed attraction so I think that the Golden Zeppelins Shoulr be rethemed to Pigs in Space which is from The Muppets Show and mkved near the next attraction is Goofy's Sky School will be rethemed to the Electric Mayhem the attraction has you board the The Electric Mayhem Bus instead of Goofy's plane and the attraction is that the band is driving crazy in L.A. to get to The Muppet Theatre and at the End you make it to the Theatre and the attraction will be the same like Goofy but with a new show scene for the attraction. The Pizza Palace will become Pizza Rizzo from Disney World, the Silly Symphony Swings will be rethemed to Sam the Eagle were you seat that is supposed to be a Air Force plane, and lastly Jumpin Jellyfish will be rethemed to Gonzo where you launch in a cannon and launch in the air. 2. Demolish the attractions to make way for a land based on FreeGuy because Disneyland does not have a attraction based on the 20th Century Studios IP the land will contain a Ice Cream shop that sells Bubble Gum Ice cream from the film and it contains the main ride using the same Ride system for The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood but instead of a roller coaster car it's the Car that Guy rides on in the film 3. A land based on Zootopia the main ride will contain the same Ride system for The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood but instead of Rollercoaster cars it's a police officer car the story is that Miss Bellwether escaped from prison and now kidnapped Giselle and your mission is the help Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde help arrested Miss Bellwether and save Giselle and the land will contain shops and some Restaurants.
Since the moment they announced this, i felt that the Autopia area would be the most logical because of property space. Disney can take several approaches to the theming. Same as WDW or focus more in way of water and future movies. They can also include structures like the base to transition from the green scape to tomorrowland. I do have to make a comment regarding the submarine show building. First of all it would make sense to re use and create a new attraction based on avatar. Disney has ride system that can replace what is there and make it a bit more easily accesible for loading and also get a higher percentage of guests thru a new dry/wet ride. With that said i always hear people say that Autopia sits on top of the show building. That statement is only partially correct. Originally Autopia was two separate rides. The Fantasyland Autopia and the Tommorowland Autopia. The Fantasyland Autopia had the largest track that crisscrossed the motorboat waterways. This Autopia never went over the submarine show building. The tommorowland Autopia track was the one that went over the sub show building. That track only traveled north on the far east end of the property had some minor turns and then reversed back again against the eastern side of property. The submarine building was under that track. The submarine building is basically a very long structure that is just wide enough to allow the sub to run north along the eastern end of property, turn and come back parallel u til it reaches the lagoon. When they redid tomorrowland and connected the Autopia tracks most of the tracks stayed where they were but instead just did minor alterations to join them. As for the monorail, yes it would only require a handful of tracks to be replaced to removesthe figure 8 inside loop. As for theming, we already have the monorail pass thru fantasyland, tomorrowland, hollywood, 1920’s buena vista and condor flats so i think we would be ok passing thru pandora especially since most would go behind the area along harbor and near IASW and around matterhorn. The station can be rethemed to match one of the Pandora buildings or even once Autopia queue is demolished move the monorail load platform so that it is above the tomorrowland train station where there is a straight away
As a new grand parent I dream of taking my granddaughter to the Disneyland I knew. Replacing family friendly rides for thrill adventures runs counter to Walt’s original inspiration for the park.
I want Autopia gone! 😅 But... What did I miss about Avatar? I remember seeing it in the theater...but must have fell asleep? Couldn't tell you more than Blue People fighting greedy humans. Does it warrant Disneyland status, or better suited for DCA?
If it ends up being built on the Autopia plot of land, they should theme it to the Metkayina Clan's sea kingdom from The Way of Water and take advantage of the lagoon. That way it remains different from WDW's version.
This guy should be a Bigfoot hunter. Just makes an entire video on speculation. I work for Disney and you have no idea what you’re even talking about
Amazing that someone who “works” for Disney can’t identify when content is made to ENTERTAIN people and to encourage them to use their imaginations in the process.

Stopping Reservations and lighting Lane would do more then Avatar Land ever could - Toss in a Peoplemover and were good! Cheers Brickey...
Never going to happen.
Look how busy it is still.
I’m convinced at this point people would still go if it were $200 per day!
gosh I do not understand y'all folks who love the peoplemover.
Plus it gives him a chance to re theme the grand Californian hotel to avatar and charge double
Also suspiciously not too long after igers recent announcement the redwood creek area was walled off
Razing Grizzly Peak to put in a new attraction seems like a big fucking endeavor, would ruin the views from the resort’s deluxe hotel and plagues resort guests with construction noise they can hear from their rooms. I think there’s no chance
Razing the Carousel Theater building and Alien Pizza planet would be a lot easier and would give a decent plot of land for something new.
Only so much you can do with California so I see why they changed it.
Disney has already walked back Bob's "land" comments and have returned to describing Avatar as an "experience"
I try not to get excited until I see steel going vertical now, but it’s fun to dream.
Bob will be long gone before anything Avatar happens at Disneyland, and then it will be nothing more than a photo op.
no matter how they build this, there is just no way to make this land fit in with the theming or fit into the area of the parks. I wish they would put the money into making more original attractions for disneyland and fixing tomorrowland instead of copy pasting pre existing lands.
Meh. You’re wrong. Too sawyers island conversion. Already announced.
I agree Tomorrowland needs to be fixed. Hasn’t been great since the People Movers, America Sings and the Skyway. The land was booming and you could feel that energy.
Not everyone lives in Orlando bro. Avatar fans have been wanting this for the longest time.

Great Points!
"Avengers Wal-Mart!" 😂
Grizzly river run is one of the top draws for me in the entirety of the parks…. Especially in the summer…
And since splash mountain is gone and I don’t have high hopes for it lackluster replacement, the Griz is my go to for water rides and fun!

I love the Grizzly Peak Land and think its one of the best in DCA. I hope we don't lose it to Avatar.
So 16:25 on, yes. I fully agree with every single one of your beliefs about Avatar and the current rides.
If it goes into the existing footprint it's going to take some serious problem solving and that's got my curiosity!
My feelings on it is they are going to extend fantasyland and place a Beaty and the beast ride or frozen ride where autopia is. Or they extend Tomorrowland and place tron there. I worked Nemo and monorail and have thought about this a lot lol
I agree! BATB or Arendalle/Frozen area ride(s) fit much better near the Matterhorn/submarine/fantasyland area. 👍
Disney needs to do something or Universal will end up as the “go to” theme park, not Disneyland.
As long as Universal Hollywood is landlocked and uses half of its available land for an actual movie studio, it won’t catch up to DLR.
@@jackob.graphic5143I wish universal would build another park here somewhere in Southern California, that way they could better compete with Disney. Although I don’t know where it could go.
Grizzly Peak is where I think it will go realistically due to the theming it be excellent land for DCA.
Don’t touch my monorail! Autopia fine! But Pandora is gonna have to have monarails run through it!🤞🏻
Hey Brickey!
T-Shirt Twins!!! Good seeing you!
Funny no one mentions that fantasyland theater, they don’t use it or have any use. I can see them demo that portion and plotting the land between galaxy’s edge and toontown. Removing autopia is way too much work.
This guy has really been upping his youtube game recently, keep up the GREAT work with these wonderfully crafted and entertaining videos! ❤
Disagree. He has always put out high quality videos for years. It's just of late more people are seeing the content.
Really enjoy watching you from the uk. You do make us want to make a trip over to the park. Thanks Bricky.
They need to give Tomorrowland the upgrade it deserves. With an “Alien” attraction since Disney now owns 20 Century Fox
But what's going to happen to all Tomorrowland and whats going to happen to space mountain?
Disney should have been doing this all along instead of now trying to catch up to Universal. Iger's long-term plans change on a daily basis.
There is also an employee parking lot across from the Sheraton on Harbor blvd. It's not exactly close to Disneyland and DCA, but there is substantial acreage where park expansion could go. Perhaps via a pedestrian tunnel or themed subway?
Avatar was announced as coming to DCA and it was also announced that it won't replace any existing lands but rather be an expansion of the park.
Where
@@rosariobono438to the left of the whole Disney land park and DCA park, basically along where the Pixar hotel and Disney hotel as well as the parking lots are located is where a park expansion will happen, a very long rectangle of land
I might lose an hour of sleep tonight, but I gained another Brickey video. That’s a win for me!
Im surprised nobody is going with Grizzly Peak. Floating mountains would be a cheap overlay. Make the rapids ride themed to way of water, paint the floor fluorescent and its a wrap
Exactly plus not too long after Igers announcement a few days ago, the grizzly peak area was walled off
It would make sense since DCA is nothing like a California theme park, and an eyesore of IPs
That’s awesome news . Disneyland is finally getting an avatar land . I’m positive it won’t be opened until 2026 . But I’m so excited
Nope nope nope. Keep Tomorrowland as it is. DCA is the place for it
They should just re-theme Star Tours to avatar or tear down launch bay and put avatar ride attraction in there! I personally don’t see them tearing down grizzly River run since the area is amazing All the tall trees now. I know you wouldn’t want to see them take away villains Grove.
I clicked this video so quick! You need more subscribers!
Hall of fame comment 😂
I think everyone's already forgotten about Avatar 2. I know I have.
They’re still some of the most watched movies of all time though. I think avatar is more of a “vibe” and visual aesthetic type of movie as opposed to something that has a lot of culture behind it
@@jaykay1899 True on the vibe
Be better off with a Lilo and Stitch land . Another water ride and a virtual ride and rocket ships re themed 🤷
I agree with you. I'm not a big Avatar fan.
I don't think they're touching Autopia before Gurr dies
I don’t see them doing Avatar at Disneyland. It just doesn’t fit in and a “land” is too large for one ip
Yup, and since DCA is just a squished excuse of IPs why not just destroy grizzly peak and add that into the park which means Hollywood backlot will be the very last remaining place of the original DCA
I love getting my Disney news from you because I love how you break everything down
Excellent analysis.
THANK YOU!! Avatar is super mid !!!
Better Ideas for Lands:
X-Men campus
Coruscant Temple with Force Ghosts
Halloween Land (Nightmare before Christmas)
Miles Morales into the Spiderverse
Onward
I’m surprised they never did a nightmare before Christmas or muppet land.
Muppet Land >>> Roger Rabbit
GRR is amazing and a whole reason that makes the hotel/DVC area make sense. If they make it into Avatar I would sell my DVC membership.
Autotopia and launch bay are honestly huge wastes of space in terms of land size and popularity. So much land that can be used to upgrade
I think that Goofy's Sky School, Silly Symphony Swings, Golden Zeppelins, and Jumpin Jellyfish should be rethemed or replaced by something here are the suggestions
2. Demolish the attractions to make way for a land based on FreeGuy because Disneyland does not have a attraction based on the 20th Century Studios IP the land will contain a Ice Cream shop that sells Bubble Gum Ice cream from the film and it contains the main ride using the same Ride system for The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood but instead of a roller coaster car it's the Car that Guy rides on in the film
Do you think we will get more information at D23 this year?
When Disney says anything about any announced promises. I will believe it when i see it.
I want Autopia gone! 😅 But... What did I miss about Avatar? I remember seeing it in the theater...but must have fell asleep? Couldn't tell you more than Blue People fighting greedy humans. Does it warrant Disneyland status, or better suited for DCA?
I agree that Avatar is going to DCA. However my bet it's going to be "experience"
WDI retracted Iger statements to experience again but I tend to believe the CEO than anyone else
If it ends up being built on the Autopia plot of land, they should theme it to the Metkayina Clan's sea kingdom from The Way of Water and take advantage of the lagoon. That way it remains different from WDW's version.
