  • This is part 1 of a several part series of how we are building out our 5,000 watt combined Solar and Wind power system for our Storage Container shop. This will be an experiment in wind and solar combination so when we get ready to put in a very large system for our home we will have some experience and knowledge around using Wind to augment power system as well as with some of these various electronics we are wanting to use.
    In this video I review all the items we are using and get them mounted to the panel. In the second video we start wiring the system.
    Look for future Parts to the series around the installation of ~4100W of solar panels and over 1500W of wind turbines!
    Part 2 of this video is here: • Building a 5kW Solar &...

    To your question regarding a fuse on both the negative and positive: In AC systems you would usually have a MCB on both the line and neutral. Should a short occur and one of the MCBs experience a fault making it unable to disconnect you have redundancy and the other MCB will cut the power.
    I assume you could draw a parallel to a DC system. Remember to get the MCBs rated for DC and make sure to choose the right category/class.

    I just want to charge a 48 v 13 ah e-bike battery . I’m in a hoa and can probly only put a small helix slightly above roof line on a pole . Will i benefit at all from the wind?

    Hi I have a 1000W wind turbine 24Vdc dc connected to a chinese mppt wind controller should i connect the load output or the battery output of the chinese mppt wind controller to the lynx dc distributor, can i plug the positive and negative to the lynx distributor even if i have victron solar mppt to it?

    How do I wire a wind turbine to plug into electricity

    It's been a year. Can you give an update on whether or not the wind turbine was worth it or if you added an acre of solar?

    for ppl who want to dable with turbines those typical chiniese turbines they will deliver you about 50watt in good conditions...the best turbines i have found (for a decent prize) is the istabreeze i1500w ,, the prize is about 500 bucks (turbine only) and it produce its rated power if set up right and in high wind , it will however most of the time make some power a few hundereds watts ,, and stick to the basic model no need to buy windsafe models or the heli 2,0 over time the basic 3 bladed model will out produce them , there is a few modifications that are worth making on the turbine drill a small hole in underside on lowest point solder conections behind stator and remove porcelain connector and you are good to go...

    victron is nice stuff but pretty expensive ,, one can get a pow mr 80A 140v solarchargecontroller/inverter 3000w , with genneratorinput for about 350$ i had mine for som time and it works fine

    Mounting inverter up side down seems a bad idea. Convection cooling is not working properly. Inverter will not give out heat as well as it could otherwise.

    Hi can you tell me what mppt charge controler do i have to use on a 48 volt battery system

    • @SeamrógCreek
      @SeamrógCreek  Рік тому

      Hi Johan, it will depend on how much incoming Solar power you have, but if you are wanting to use Victron equipment they make a number of Controllers that work in 48V (most of them do). If you look here you can see the list of options, anything that lists 48V on it will work for your batteries. www.victronenergy.com/solar-charge-controllers
