Janice in this ep reminds me of the ‘cool’ kids at school, who would joke around with you, but only on their terms - & then they’d be like, ‘why are you laughing? You’re so awkward.’ Etc. Classic bullying tactic (not that I’m still bitter! Lol)
Flashback to senior year when I briefly hung out the popular kids bc I lost weight. My closeted lesbian friend was like "Girl, what are you doing? They're not your friends," and woke me up. Thanks, Jen.
You. Do not. Bind. With tape. It's super dangerous to bind with anything that wasn't specifically for binding. The pressure can cause nerve/tissue damage, broken ribs, you could faint from oxygen deprivation etc.
I know, right?! And heck, the model was even saying she couldn't breathe! Not to mention tape coming off can take plenty of skin with it, causing permanent damage. Ugh this is so frustrating because binders EXIST, they existed then, and even if they couldn't find one, there are ways to wardrobe and pose and photoshop to cheat a flatter chest if that's what's needed, there was NO REASON to put the model through harm for this photoshoot.
As someone who binds, I genuinely don't understand why they didn't simply edit the image to make her chest look smaller, especially with how heavily edited these images are to begin with. It certainly would be a lot safer. Even with an actual binder there is still a lot of risk involved, especially if the model can't figure out how to get out of the binder again and panicks, and I doubt they would put in the effort to get the right size, which is crucial if you want your ribs to remain unharmed.
I love Bre speaking her mind and being totally honest about how she feels about the constant criticism. That was very brave of her to do. I bet a lot of ANTM contestants felt the same way
I remember when I first watched the show really respecting Bre because she was able to speak her feelings in a composed, articulated way. I honestly wonder if that is part of why the judges hammered on Bre in order to break her composure.
It's wild to me too that they would kinda attack her for saying that when she isn't even necessarily blaming them or having any animosity towards the judges at all. She keeps internalizing the way the criticism is effecting her saying things like "I'm not used to this" and "I gotta shape up" like she is just speaking her mind and Tyra and the rest are just perpetuating abusive standards within the modeling industry.
america’s next top model: we want to defy the harmful stereotypes about the modeling industry also america’s next top model: reinforces harmful stereotypes by bullying the models
Makes me think of a book review Leena Norms did. She talks about a book in which the main character is bi and instead of taking the opportunity to dispel the Myth of the Unfaithful Bisexual, the author wrote her as with-man-but-cheats-with-woman and they all end up in a poly relationship living happily ever after. Like are you kidding me?

I feel like they should put the judges on one of those Comedy Central roast shows and let all the models just go in on them lol. Let it last a few hours so everyone gets a joke in
Janice Dickenson LIVES for drama and just deliberately stirs it up because she knows no one will stop her. Tyra talks a lot about single-handedly revolutionizing the fashion industry, modelling it after what SHE thinks looks beautiful. It's such a shame that she didn't take the opportunity to stop the cycle of abuse that models go through, instead dishing out further abuse under the guise of "well that's the way this industry is". For a start she could have operated closed sets rather than having the other models on the sidelines audibly calling a girl an old alcoholic, but that wouldn't make good TV. IDK, this show is so heavily edited that it's hard to tell. Maybe there was some constructive criticism about how to handle negativity and maintain good mental health... but I doubt it.
Tyra is not as influential as she thinks she is as a model. She’s just a more commercial obnoxious version of Naomi the greatest of all time. This show could have actually changed the game but instead it ripped young women apart. Surprisingly the girls have saJanice was way nicer than Tyra
I totally agree. Tyra and even Janice had an opportunity to reshape the fashion industry and stop the toxic cycle of abuse that models in the industries face, but instead she perpetuates all those toxic evil things because she was forced to endure it and gaslights these models to think it is normal to be verbally and mentally abused. And then Tyra acts like she is this superhero speaking out for other and breaking barriers. Back around 2010 or so I used to talk about how I didn't like Tyra online and there would be sooo many people ganging up on me telling me she's ACTUALLY a martyr for the people and blah blah blah... I guarantee now that she's been exposed those people aren't saying the same thing.
Janice Is vile , i've never liked her . And sitting on the model's lap was so inappropriate and extra , that looked like some weird intimidation tactic . Any time Janice is around she wants to remind everyone she's in charge and can do whatever she wants. And she clearly loves causing trouble between the girls . That model never "dissed" anyone , and she never had a 'Attitude " either , Janice is always looking to start fights .
Janice has since admitted that she was an alcoholic and she was drinking alot when filming this show. She has also said that she regrets causing so much drama on this show and she links it to her alcoholism. She said she is now sober and doing alot better and she is no longer that person on the show.
There are plenty of people with alcohol abuse problems who are not as nasty as she was. I hope she really regrets her behaviour. However, what you say she said sounds as if admitting that cost her nothing and "alcoholism" is an excuse for her. Instead of just apologising, SHE and HER (ex?) problems are the subject, not the harm and her victims.
Diana’s treatment pissed me off so much. They literally treated her as a stereotype and then booted her when they realized she’s a real person. They saw a latina “plus sized” woman and thought she should’ve been loud, fiery, and sassy and while quite literally putting her through physical torture. She SLAYED that photoshoot and has top 3 best picture but eliminated her anyways cause she was a little nervous and soft spoken. **** em.
Oooooh you're absolutely right! I couldn't put a finger on why Diane's critique felt so very irritating to me, when honestly I don't usually get annoyed by the critiques (like, I get they generally aren't fair, but I can usually a enjoy a little machinated theatre in a TV judging panel) but this left a bad taste and you've just nailed why: they had some 'sassy' 'feisty' curvy Latina caricature in mind for her when, if memory serves, she was always q soft-spoken and level-headed and suddenly its all 'wHeRe'S oUr FiErY ViVaCiOuS DiiiVa gOnE?!'. Ugh.
So true-I love Toccara from Cycle 3, she is an amazing model and has a vivacious presence. But she’s her, and Diane is Diane. 1. Not all plus-sized women have the same personality, there is no “plus-sized personality”; there are individual women whose job it is not to fit a slot. They didn’t even allow Toccara to have off days or quiet moments, it’s like they couldn’t accept the dimensions that didn’t fit their image of bubbly Day 1 casting. 2. Lots of respected, beloved public figures have quiet demeanors. Just because a person isn’t bursting into every room and radiating energy doesn’t mean they don’t have a personality.
Its also a stereotype for bigger sized women. They are loud, vivacious, boisterous, sassy etc. On top of that she was supposed to be a spicy latina for the judges and she wasnt
I knew that Diane was going to get eliminated, in this episode, because they didn't really show her before. Yes, we knew that she was there, but she barely had any scenes. I bet that most people didn't know that, in the house, she and Lisa were really good friends. They both did a post show interview saying that they were, but it wasn't shown.
It’s interesting to me that they sent Diane home and didn’t even bring up the fact that she was literally CRYING IN PAIN but still KILLED that photoshoot. She’s a gorgeous woman and, in my opinion, it seems like they didn’t want to see a plus sized model get far in the competition- even tho her photos were waaay better than a lot of the other girls. Do better, ANTM.
I just hope she doesn't have any long term medical problems from that horrible painful binding . They put her through all that and then still eliminate her . The judges are mean & nasty , they don't care when a model is suffering .
It is always like that. When the girls push through ridiculous amounts of pain, discomfort etc they never get praised for it. When they complain or cannot do it, they get called out for it and punished. All to make the abuse appear normal and expected
@@Smile-ni9nc when Adrienne from season 1 has such severe food poisoning that she had to go to the hospital, producers from ANTM went to the hospital and told her she would be eliminated because she wouldn't be at the final judging. So she left the hospital against the doctor's recommendation, just to make it to the judging. You can see how sick she looks. And Tyra had the NERVE to scold her and tell her she shouldn't have done that!
So tired of them justifying abusing these girls verbally cause they’re “preparing” them for the real world. When all they’re doing is telling them to just accept verbal abuse and never stand up for themselves …it just seems like they enjoyed the power of it. And not to mention the mind games they played on these girls. The promotion of bullying and almost like disapproval of bonding/ comradeship….they never cared about helping these girls. And it sucks that I grew up watching this and feeding into these harmful messages disguised as positive/helpful.
It feels like grooming to me. They're being trained to accept any level of abuse. If they are comfortable and feel safe, that means they're clearly not trying hard enough. They can't be safe, because modelling is suffering. Safe is failure.
Does anyone remember the episode where Jay and Tyra were bullying an Asian girl for having breast implants and they kept calling her a hoochie? I would like to see Jessica react to that episode if she hasn't yet
Gia Marie Carangi was the world's first supermodel, Gia can't say anything because she passed away from Aids at 26 years old in 1986..She was ,not you Janice. When Cindy Crawford got popular, they called her Baby Gia.If anyone doesn't know about her ,Angelina Jolie played her in the movie Gia...
I love Gia, she was an absolutely amazing model but she herself is not the first supermodel. Many in the industry consider Lisa Fonssagrives the first.
What was awful in the 2000s is that bullying was not only normalized but glorified. Until, a girl named Amanda posted a UA-cam video about her ordeal before unaliving herself. That video went viral and showed the world that online bullying needs to stop. Kudos to Bre for standing up for herself.
Amanda absolutely did not stop bullying from happening because people found out she wasnt fully innocent as she was involved with somebody's partner(this is 2010 you think they were going to let that slide?), can you think of anybody who sees her as an example of not to bully?
I wear a breast binder occasionally and it should never, ever hurt or make it hard to breathe. They must have bound down that poor girl's chest way too hard which is actually dangerous.
@@mmisafire Really dangerous & worrying that they would put a model through all that unnecessary pain . They basically expected her to magically pose & grin through the agony , i'm surprised she still did a good photo shoot. There's no way i'd be able to cope if i was struggling to breathe . This can cause permanent damage . The judges are stupid & mean and they lack so much empathy it's insane .
@@carr0760 oh man. Tape is brutal on a large chest too. I used it for drag and cosplay in the past. Looked great but it blisters after a while and if you're not careful and remove it the right way it eviscerates your skin under too.
The models: Lisa disses everyone! Also the models: sit on a couch, dissing Lisa specifically. "Healthy" is so subjective anyway but Lisa saying that she thinks she's healthy isn't a personal attack on anyone else, unlike the models on the couch specifically insulting her looks. But of course, we the audience are supposed to see Lisa as the "bad guy" and unsympathetic. (Also I know that the two on the couch talking about "Lisa needs a face lift" aren't the one who cut in with "Lisa disses everyone" but iirc, this season was edited to be very Lisa-versus-everyone.)
Was literally about to comment this. They complain she disses everyone then the next thing you see is them all dissing and ragging on Lisa. Janice sees/hears this and she says "well all the ones commenting are just jealous" instead of stopping to scream in their faces the way she did with Lisa.
I hate how these reality shows always have a narrative to make someone look like the 'villain' , wouldn't be so bad if the girl actually did something wrong. But all she did was say she's healthy and she never had a attitude problem .
Yeah but nobody likes Lisa so realistically who was really gonna stick up for her lol? Y’all must forget how she treated the other girls in the house. Even without her drinking problem, she had a very jarring personality
See I feel like her talking to Janice saying "I'm the healthiest out of all these girls here" was super offensive and I'd be bothered too. Not to mention she's pretty problematic in general so... [shrug]
Model: "hey, I can't breathe." Mr. Jay: "don't ruin your pretty makeup! You're pretty!" Yeah, like she's crying because she doesn't feel pretty and not because *she can't breathe!*
Like you always say, what part of being the "photographer" DID Janice actually take part of? The concept? Set design? Lighting? Props? Editing? Selecting the "top shots"? Like WHAT DID SHE DO? Besides just show up and click the camera around and cause a toxic work environment? Also the "plus size personality" is something Tyra says to basically EVERY plus size model. She expects them to all act in a certain sterotype of being loud, happy, and always bubbly. And if they aren't then they aren't "trying hard enough" to be there. So tired and toxic. As always another great video! ♡
The "shrinking personality of the plus-size girl" is also a common theme across the seasons, which speaks to how the plus-size contestants are treated.
Janice was under the influence of something. I wouldn't be surprised if Tyra and the producers kept Janice's glass full because they knew it was a recipe for drama.
@@lizanna6390 she pulled attention with her own show. 😂 She had her own show on Oxygen for two years while judging on ATM. JD has said many times she quit ob I would love to see Jessica react to one of those episodes!
Love the fact that the middle aged woman with the most attitude is the one immediately saying that someone else has an attitude! What a total lack of self-awareness!
Thing is....Lisa actually is an addict/alcoholic, and sought help years later. If that behaviour was already manifesting during the show, the other women should have been expressing concern, not making fun of her for it.
IIRC, it definitely was showing up on the season and the edit played it for laughs/drama. Meanwhile, I remember a season where they had a whole thing about worrying if a contestant had an ED.
Well and the scary thing is, with the pressure of the show and how everyone was treating her. It probably made Lisa go drink and use even more. They were actively furthering her addiction with that bullshitb
That challenge in the judging room reminded me of the scene in mean girls where they say their flaws in the mirror. This challenge was a way to break the girls' confidence while disguising it as "hiding flaws".
I'M SORRY THEY BOUND HER DOWN WITH TAPE?! I know this was the early 2000s where this wasn't as common knowledge but THAT'S FRICKING DANGEROUS. At least it's not ace bandage but oh my god I'm screaming PROPER CHEST BINDERS EXIST, USE THOSE.
A photoshoot making fun of people who get plastic surgery...because the modeling industry has never bullied any models into getting surgeries they don't need or want. Right. Weird concept.
Remember when Janice specifically cut a homeless model for refusing to pay for a nose job on Janice Dickinson Modelling Agency (Jan 2006) like 3 months after this cycle of ANTM (Oct 2005)
You're probably the only person on UA-cam with 1million plus subs who doesn't give a "youtuber" vibe. You're realistic, and i feel like I'm watching a genuine person, not a brand. You don't try to be "organic/relatable" and i love that. I'm a Libra too who loves photography and if i were a professional photographer, my work ethic would be just like yours (apart from the basic code of conduct that every photographer should follow). I have been following you for years and have learnt so much from you. Keep rocking ♥️
Also, the way Mr. Jay was like "we're gonna poke some fun at people who get extreme plastic surgery".. That literally translates to "we're gonna bully people who have issues with insecurities and are so addicted to fixing their 'flaws' that they become blind to what they actually look like".
"being a plus size girl is harder than being a black girl" - There's a lot I could say about that quote. As someone who has experienced racism and colorism, as a very fit person, I definitely would not agree.
I think that it probably is harder in the high fashion model bubble. Having white privilege in the real world is definitely a reality. But in high fashion being skinny is supreme over anything else. And a lot of models that come from Africa fit the mold for high fashion
@@MelMoy11 Ok and what makes you think women of color cant be plus size too, or that they ONLY come from Africa? The way you and they frame it is telling : you can either be a plus size model, or you can be black. Its essentially an admission that a black woman has no chance at all as a plus size model, because only whiteness makes it acceptable to break out of the mold of size. Its still a clear indication of the privilege of white and light skinned women to still have these opportunities where there is clearly a higher standard being applied to black women and other dark skinned women. And that's been pretty consistent with my experience outside of the world of high fashion.
I lost 150 Pounds and then the lab guy at my dr office told me I was funnier when fat! It made me feel like I was a zoo animal. It made me feel like as plus size people we are relegated to being entertainment for people.
Lisa has actually come out and told people that before this show, she had a lot of modeling experience already. She would give girls a lot of advice on the show but it’s a reality show so they probably only showed the parts where she gave advice in a “rude” way. And they ran with it.
While Lisa has said some problematic things and has been harsh... Lisa honestly was 110%a victim in ANTM. They treated her like crap in her season. The next one treated everyone like crap. She is hated by a portion of the fans because she won, even though she was always a very talented young woman. Lisa gets hated too much and never deserved to be attacked the way she was. Especially considering her upbringing.
@@Leelah Lisa is someone who is healing from years of abuse and trauma. She may make mistakes and come off as harsh or intense, but she is human. I have respect for her and always had respect for her. If you pay close attention you can see how production tried so hard to make her a villain.
@@8ONJO55 she HAD good modelling talent and catwalk. She was already doing pro shoots abroad before cycle 5. Its the editing department. Everyone knows that they tailor things to fit the narrative, so they pick bad pictures to make an underdog and elevate other contestants. It was never a modelling competition, it was about ratings and who the judges liked more. Its why girls like Elyse Sewell and Jenna Doucette didnt win. They cast a bunch of girls that genuinely had talent and varying degrees of experience and demeaned them. People act like rabid dogs against Lisa for winning because Angelea was done dirty and Allyson didnt win (another unique and talented girl). Since Allyson is a girl who has an immense following (borderline cultist to be honest...) everyone feels its their divine duty to attack Lisa (and to a lesser degree, Teyona) Anyone in the top 5 of All Stars, heck All stars altogether had the talent to win the whole show. Just hate that people afe so butthurt over a tailored reality show to actually see that no one deserved the hate. Not whitewashing some of the messed up actions and shade Lisa has thrown everyone, but she was really put through the ringer by people all her life.
I think Bre was already tough. She was brave enough to show her real emotions, talk about them and call judges out. I never liked when they pointed out someone was sad or tired, as though they needed to be happy all the time. They are not robots.
According to ANTM, everyone is a photographer but really they just didn't want to pay for a professional that would do the job properly and actually WORK WITH the models. They would have brought models back from previous cycles to be photographers but were scared they'd do a better job than the "noted photographers" from the panel 😆😆
16:50 Jay's face after he "apologizes." He is clearly not sorry. He looks like he's upset that she's "being dramatic." Like he seems disgusted. How do I know? It's my face when I see Jay act like that
First of alllllllllll your accent is one of the reasons I love watching your channel. It’s cute af. On top of that, your Arabic sounds amazing-SUPER hard language to even start to learn.
This is the episode I was waiting for you to react to Jessica. So problematic as you mentioned in the title from having the girls and Janice gang up on Lisa due to the producers to Tyra's problematic comments towards both Diane and Bre. They really tried to make Bre feel bad about herself when she was being open and honest about the comments they would make at judging and when she called out the judges they put her in the bottom to punish and warn her. Like you've mentioned the girls can never win, when they speak up they are combative but when they're quiet they get labelled as boring. Very glad that fans of the show back then are seeing how problematic the show is today. Keep up the good work Jessica!
It looks like the inspiration for this shoot was the work of Irving Penn with fashion editor Phyllis Posnick for Vogue. Steven Meisel and Steven Klein had similar plastic surgery concepts as well, it was a recurring topic across magazines at that time.
Photoshoot clearly inspired by Steven Meisel Vogue Italia July 2005 photoshoot with Linda Evangelista, which came out the same year as this cycle. His was a better social commentary.
@@ashante190 It is quite ironic that Linda Evangelista was the model in that shoot, considering her subsequent disfigurement by a cosmetic procedure. I'm happy to see her back in front of Meisel's camera for the new Fendi campaign at least!
I love how you left Kim and the other peanut gallery girl up on the screen while you talked about their bad behavior. Way to put them on blast . What you said is true . Those girls were behaving bad.
I don't like that they did breast reduction. They said it was to make fun of plastic surgery, but some people genuinely feel better without breasts or with smaller breasts. Or if you have a disease and HAVE to get rid of them. So I don't think this is a good thing to make fun off, like a breast reduction is "too much". (Not even talking about using tape instead of an actual binder that was made for this kind of thing and endangering the model)
Why is it that native English speakers who only speak one language (badly a lot of the time 😂), are always the first to criticise other people's language skills?! We need to check ourselves!! I needed the subtitles but loved hearing Diane's Spanish, Latinas are scorching HOT ♨
Nah, it's what Jessica said, if you are learning a second language, the native speakers start picking apart your pronunciation. I've given up on French even though my half of my family speaks the language, tired of the negative comments.
@@5117danielle same with me and Chinese! my family would keep laughing at me because I would get stuck on one word and no one would bother helping me. Being able to speak and understand multiple languages is such a skill and making fun of someone while they're learning never helps

Yes! Remember when Twiggy was a judge? She was totally knowledgeable, actually was well-known in the modeling industry before this show, and a nice person. Unfortunately, a lot of ignorant fans hated her because she wasn't anything likeJanice. 🙄
The thing with Lisa where Janice just went at her, was obviousy cause she could sense a strong confident girl and she wanted her to be put down... thats why she went at her right away cause she sensed that she couldnt control her, and thats why she needed the other girls to "help" her put her down cause she alone couldnt do it... shes a bully. Maybe not anymore but here she is.
If this were any other profession, all of this happening (the comments from all sides, the unprofessionalism of the drama shitstirring, the personal attacks and slander, the unsafe work conditions), it would be harassment and lead to written notices/firings. It's absolutely disgusting.
They need to do a season were the panel members and hosts and any one who was a judge be the contestants, and then bring back the past contestants who were done the worst become the judges and photographers and creative directors. Put Tyra and all them through exactly what they did to these girls.
Not the first supermodel, Twiggy is the first supermodel. Nobody knew Janice's name until she accused Sly Stallone of being her unborn child's father. (He wasn't)
Has Tyra ever taken a look at herself? If she wants to bring down and criticise the models she should remember how she has has changed physically over the years. Women are supposed to bring each other up xxx ❤️🇬🇧
A deep dive into this show revealed that former contestents reported these "on ice" periods while the cameras weren't rolling. They weren't allowed to interact with each other, not allowed to go anywhere. They compared it to a prison. This show was problematic on so many levels.
No joke there's a paragraph on the Wikipedia page for Supermodel about Janice incorrectly stating she coined the term. The first known use of the word was actually in 1891.
As someone who wears a chest binder I felt worried when I saw the bit about taping breasts. Sure, it's just for the duration of the photoshoot, but you can damage your ribcage and breast tissue very easily by binding/taping wrong or for too long. If it hurt so much she was crying and couldn't breathe then I hope she went to get her tissue and ribs checked afterwards.
Bre is being so natural by not accepting a daily disrespect, makes all other girls look weird, everyone was so calm all the time, calmly accepting the insults
this is my analysis from knowing a bit of Tyra.. She has always commented how she was bullied when she was a girl and how girls made fun of her because of her size and height.. im sure she was vulnerable and probably angry. Now that she's so successful, i see her preying on these young girls and utilizing her "power" that she gained and abusing and bullying other girls!!! Im pretty sure she loves that.. she's terrible the way she is treating these girls
I would like to see you cover/recreate the photo shoot from Cycle 12 episode 6. The models get sprayed with colored powder and do beauty shots. The results are some of the best photos on the show.
I feel so sorry for Diane. By no stretch of the imagination is she plus sized. Also, having your flaws and insecurities highlighted and then be criticized for how you feel about your own 'flaws'?
Sadly, she is for the modelling industry... particularly that many years ago. Personally, I think she has the best body of the bunch, but the modelling industry in the early 2000s wanted sticks, not curves.
This sounds so dangerous, literally. Binding is something that has to be done very carefully, you can't just use any material to do it, and you always need to leave room for the comfort of breathing, even if its for a very short while on a photoshoot. At the time probably less people knew about that in the mainstream, but breathing is a basic priority for anyone, I have no idea why they did any of this. What an absolute mess.
Americas next top model honestly dropped the ball so hard with this show. They really had the opportunity to create a safe and encouraging space for women and models. For everyone to bring each other up and re-define stereotypes in the modeling industry. Instead they really leaned into all of the negative stereotypes that come with working in the modeling industry. I am really hoping that there’s a modeling show in the future that doesn’t drop the ball as hard as Tyra did. Like yeah. There are a lot of people who will have awful or negative things to you, but with knowing that why would you continue to bring people down? Like you see the problem, know it’s a problem, and keep doing it. I honestly didn’t even realize how bad this show was until I started watching these videos and I like trauma blocked all the awful things that were being said to these women. I too was also used to the men and people in my life bringing me down and I got so used to it I didn’t even see it until I became an adult and was on my own. In a world that’s already so awful and unkind to us why not just be kind to one another and understanding. I think the show would have been even more popular if they had actually supported women and models.
I listened to Lisa on a recent podcast, and I think what she meant was mentally healthy, because she talked a lot about the contestants on the show that failed their psych evaluations but were still allowed onto the show. Apparently the contracts had like a 10 year gag order, so she hasn't been able to speak up until recently. Looking back at the show through today's lense, it's just awful.
I speak fully 3 languages total, and I always get a little embarrassed when startle on my words, or have a noticeable accent (mostly in my last spoken languages but sometimes in my usual main language). But at least I'm proud that I know more than 1 language.
watching these videos has been a past time of mine to do while I sit and edit photos (that and binge watching Tyler Henry videos). I used to binge ANTM and remember thriving on the drama of what the next episode would bring. Now as an adult I am just like 'those girls deserved so much better and I hope they're in a better place now than they could have every imagined'
Not the two girls who tried standing up for themselves being on the chopping block. I've seen enough of Jessica's reaction videos to know that when one girl talks back to the judges, BOOM, Bottom Two. And then I heard Lenox's interview with Jessica about how the models are literally posed in specific manners for photos. So it's like they already have a winner in mind before the season even starts, but the actions of the rest of the girls throughout the season, either helps them to continue, or be cut early on.
4 mins in and Janice is too much already 😫 🤣. From what I have seen on ANTM & Janice Dickinson modle agency show she has chaotic energy. She's happy then she's disgusted. She's crying then she's jumping in a fountain. She's calling her models whores then she is telling them they are too sensitive and cry.
You know I watched this show (honestly, I never realized it was trash tv) since I was 13 and up. I wanted to be a fashion designer so badly. And looking back I can’t believe how many messages I may have internalized as a 13 year old and through my teenage years. One day I got sick of every supermodel judge’s story being “I was made fun of and called giraffe” or something and yet these models go on to bully the contestants. Janice said she got ahead by being a good sister to other girls. Yeah right. Also being multilingual is such an amazing thing and switching back and forth might cause a small mistake but she is by no means not completely fluent in English and Spanish. Just ridiculously rude.
I think that Lisa is very competitive and it can come across as harsh, but what we don't see is how Lisa is provoked into defending herself and then attacked for doing so.
I dont like how they act like a breast reduction is "extreme plastic surgery" when realistically it is necessary for some women to live a better life without chronic back pain

They're lucky she didn't pass out!
In highschool I did this for a school play and it was PAINFUL. Like I couldnt breathe and my breast hurt so bad during and after. Do NOT recommend
@@PhoenyxV What's so sad is I wouldn't be surprised if they knew about safety issues/the existence of binders and still chose to do this.
This! Looking back, Bre is one of my favorite contestants of the whole series.
Bre was my favorite that season
It's so predictable that once she spoke her mind , she'd be put in the B2 . Typical

Makes me think of a book review Leena Norms did. _And may the odds be ever in their favor._ ✌️
Janice is someone who needs to be told "no" more often.
She's probably not used to hearing that word.
Tyra too
Janice Dickenson LIVES for drama and just deliberately stirs it up because she knows no one will stop her.
I think Tyra asked Janice to be the Simon Cowell type judge.
@@yennefer440 Having seen Janice's own modeling show I genuinely think she is like this 24/7.
I love how when Lisa did the flaws challenge and she didn't shy away from embracing a "flaw" and the judges were like "wait no, not like that"
Absolutely wild response from them

She is a drunk.
I get that she was an alcoholic but that's no excuse for being nasty and mean... Just an explanation.
@@agatanakonieczny2213you clearly have no issues with alcohol. Great for you but not everyone is like that!!!
@@Momo-po5tn facts!
It’s because haute couture is made for skinny women and that’s all they seem to think about is runway when there’s much more to modelling
@@samcaranol4102 it's bc at least at this time runway was seen as the most prestigious.

What was awful in the 2000s is that bullying was not only normalized but glorified. Until, a girl named Amanda posted a UA-cam video about her ordeal before unaliving herself. That video went viral and showed the world that online bullying needs to stop.
Kudos to Bre for standing up for herself.
Wow, Amanda single handedly solved bullying! What a hero!
Were you even alive then? 😂
They used actual tape. A binder has some stretch so it expands when you breathe. Tape does not.

Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of Lisa but the comments the other girls were making were absolutely disgusting. She was in the right here
Was literally about to comment this.
[shrug]
Model: "hey, I can't breathe."
Mr. Jay: "don't ruin your pretty makeup! You're pretty!"
Yeah, like she's crying because she doesn't feel pretty and not because *she can't breathe!*
Janice's screeching fog horn voice alone probably just caused the girls more stress and worry , She's so irritating .
The "shrinking personality of the plus-size girl" is also a common theme across the seasons, which speaks to how the plus-size contestants are treated.

I'm a white fat woman and I agree with you. That was a tough one
Tyra's comment was so cringe! I can't believe she said that! As a black woman, I am appalled by her comment.

She is hated by a portion of the fans because she won, even though she was always a very talented young woman.

lmaooooo I low-key think she was talking about coke too lol . Janice always come to work drunk and high
(He wasn't)
Thank you. Twiggy was the first super model.
Wow thank you so much for your research! Janice wishes she was the first supermodel 😅
I love your sense of humor, and your delivery. You are a doll! Thank you for the smiles and the "mmmmhmmmm, yeah OK Tyra." 's. 💜
😂😂✨😂✨✨✨ "You are going to be my chair today."😂✨😂😂😂😂✨✨✨
As someone who wears a chest binder I felt worried when I saw the bit about taping breasts. Sure, it's just for the duration of the photoshoot, but you can damage your ribcage and breast tissue very easily by binding/taping wrong or for too long. If it hurt so much she was crying and couldn't breathe then I hope she went to get her tissue and ribs checked afterwards.
Your SquareSpace ad transitions make me laugh every time. 😂
The results are some of the best photos on the show.
baby… Janice is DRUNK
omg I've never drank alcohol in my life so I don't know IM VERY OBLIVIOUS TO THESE THINGS LMAO ;-;
I've heard you say a couple times, how they won't be able to use these photos, so I can't wait to hear you talk about it. ☺️
The way they’re reinforcing the models insecurities is so strange and damaging
I feel so sorry for Diane. By no stretch of the imagination is she plus sized.
Also, having your flaws and insecurities highlighted and then be criticized for how you feel about your own 'flaws'?
Sadly, she is for the modelling industry... particularly that many years ago.
Personally, I think she has the best body of the bunch, but the modelling industry in the early 2000s wanted sticks, not curves.
This was in 2005 during the Russian Doll era. By industry standard, she would have been listed as plus sized.
@LittleRavenMist I can relate so much to your comment
Janice Dickinson straight up HITS her 0:11
After 24 hours of constant bullying: "I'M NOT SEEING THAT SMILE, BRE"
Saying you are healthier is an insult. It has a lot of backhanded meaning to it especially in this environment
Youre right
If any professional photographer acted like Janice did in this episode, they wouldn't last long in the industry
watching these videos has been a past time of mine to do while I sit and edit photos (that and binge watching Tyler Henry videos). I used to binge ANTM and remember thriving on the drama of what the next episode would bring. Now as an adult I am just like 'those girls deserved so much better and I hope they're in a better place now than they could have every imagined'
I’d be terrified to work with Janice 😂. She’d look in my direction and I’d cry, even if I wasn’t the one modeling
That’s weak she’s just a person
She's a monster
A crazy person
Same💀
Not the two girls who tried standing up for themselves being on the chopping block.
Where did your little megaphone go? These videos are still great without it obviously but I found it HILARIOUS every time you brought it out
4 mins in and Janice is too much already 😫 🤣.
Jayla pointing at JLOOOOO I can't
Imagine talking over twiggy as some white man who’s never have to fight for anything.
I dont like how they act like a breast reduction is "extreme plastic surgery" when realistically it is necessary for some women to live a better life without chronic back pain
I hated Janice so much. The way she treated people was just disgusting.
She keeps saying she was the world's first Super Model despite the fact people really first heard of her from this show.
@@iamsoverybored878 YOU first heard of her from ANTM...
The way poor Lisa is looking at Janice’s plate of food 💔
Girl’s hungry 😢
Janice Dickenson is a rick and morty character
thank you for putting the sponsor at the end of the video! ☺️ 🙏
i wish more content creators done this. i’m here for the CONTENT idc for the sponsors. lol.
especially because i’m not the one getting paid to do it lmao. 🤪
