I thought the option to choose a different type of route in the vacuum only function was really cool. Currently on my roborock s7 maxV you can choose the type of route only in the mop function. This function further increases the cleaning efficiency. I hope they bring this function to the s7. Congratulations on the videos, your reviews are great. Watching your videos makes me want to change my robot 😅
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah mopping strategies are really nice. I Shiah you could use them also in mop+vacuum mode. The s7 works pretty well no reason to upgrade even if there are come cool upgrades with s8
I forgot to ask one question. Can I program it to do one run vacuum, with mop withdrawn, come back to the base, empty the dustbin then do a second run in mop only?
Yes you can. Of course you would use battery life because it counts as 2 runs even if each one uses less energy. But from my testing it finished a full round (mop+vacuum) with more than 50% battery left so it shouldn’t be a problem. I have a 80 m2 house. It also depends if yours is bigger
What if the mop was spinning, but not in a double circular fashion but similarly to a tank wheel belt? I had this idea in a dream, actually having a wide mop that rotates exactly like a tank belt but in the opposite direction to movement to scrub the floor, probably the war in ukraine gave it the initial spark. Imagine the british Mark V tank from WW1, but it has one hugely wide mopping belt instead of having left and right one. And it doesnt have to be 1 giant piece of mop, we could divide the mop into like 4 strips, where the even ones would rotate in one direction and the odd ones in the opposite direction. And those directions could be perpendicular to the actual movement, so instead of roatitng front to back, it would rotate left to right. What do you think?
You can use your own detergent as long as it doesn't make bubbles and foam because it will leave it on your floor and create problems inside the robot.
Is there a waterline connection like the chinese versions of this robot vacuum? That would make it perfect because then it would automatically take in fresh water and dispense the dirty water.
@@jessiepepper they use more water the floor is more wet and the scrubbing is better if you have drained liquide marks. But if you have wood floor less water is better and vibrating pad is more delicate so roborock is better for that in my opinion
Dual brush you mean? Yeah it’s more powerful but I think it’s useful if you have many carpets or moquette or per hair. Otherwise the s7 Max v ultra makes an outstanding job vacuuming
There will be a pre sale if you buy a stand robo rock vacuum for 300 starting very soon. But I pass. Got myself the S7+ because of the camera and phone function.
Received today, used 6 hours 1. Camera cannot be accessed remotely . Important for me, totally ok with someone else 2. Cannot climb on hile pile carpet. Mine is about 3 cm high. After manually lift on the carpet working good, no human hair remain behind, no debrits, fleasant feeling when i touched carpet, no water on the carpet. So, for my 3 cm high carpet, with one wheel on the carpet and one wheel on the floor easy succeed to return to the carpet 3. Editing rooms wall is a nightmare, practically you cannot do it easy, need to spend about 5 minutes to edit a room. Walls you cannot edit. 4. Furniture library very limited and scaling of available furniture is limited. I have very big sofa and wardrobe ...cannot scale 5. Have option to add carpet area ... very petty that you cannot rotate, not everybody have carpet oriented parallel with walls. Option to add carpet zone just rectangle/square carpet figure and allways relative to vertical and orizontal phone axis not to room axis. 6. Very good obstacle avoidance but catch cables. What i really liked is that when arrive in vecinity of an obstacle reduce the speed so much that even if there is a touch with obstacle is very very gentle 7. Good battery, used 3% and 8 m8nutes to scan an apartment with 45 m2 8. Small pieces of carpet are ignored, goes over them and in 98% will catch them with rollers 9. Very quiet comparing with others which i saw during presentations in various shops before. On low vacuum mode you can easly sleep, on boost carpet vacuum mode make same noise like other in low or normal mode 10. Very practical solution with mop lifting, working good 11. Surface recognition is good and program have option to set individual the type of flooring for each room or defined areas 12. Object identification is good but is not perfect ... confused high boots with sneakers. Not that this mather but when you have the crown and want to keep it you need to pay attention to details ;)
I talked about it in this video. It worked pretty well on the s7 and the s8 is on par. I made a Timelapse where it avoided all the obstacles and never stuck
@@ShadesOfTech Ya, I only have mine to compare. I have heard that the roomba J7 is best in this area but I don’t own one and haven’t tried it. I just have my roborock s7 max V and a roomba I7. Hopefully roborock can bring theirs on par to the J7
Not having the visible camera on the s8 is actually an upgrade to me. I didn't want to put a remote web connected visible camera in my house.
That’s a fair point!

@@ShadesOfTech Thank you very much for the feedback.
Hi, am looking to get one robot vacuum. Do you suggest that I get the S7 MaxV Ultra or S8 Pro Ultra for hard flooring?
I think s8 pro ultra is better with dual brush and dual mopping motor
@@ShadesOfTech thanks! Will consider

I think you should reach out to roborock with your idea! It would be the ultimate tank.. ehm.. vacuum robot!
can use own detergent or need to use roborock detergent only?

Not that I’m aware of. I don’t think so on this model
They are introducing spinning mop pads in the summer. Its called Q Rev.
I didn’t know that, it would be super nice!
Why? Are spinning pads better?
@@jessiepepper they use more water the floor is more wet and the scrubbing is better if you have drained liquide marks. But if you have wood floor less water is better and vibrating pad is more delicate so roborock is better for that in my opinion
I'm assuming the Q Rev is a new model/series then? Will it have the self cleaning dock?
@@m_hall we don’t have info so far.. but that would be awesome!
My concern is wheel longevity and ability on mildly plush carpet. My S6 wheel motor didn’t last and the S5 couldn’t even handle a low plush carpet.
I have used s7 for one year and no problems with wheels or carpets so far. S8 is the same
I have the s7 max V ultra, I like it a lot but am contemplating getting this because of the dual mop

Is this ok to use with vinyl floor?
Yeah of coruse
Great review mate merci 👌🏻
You’re welcome thanks a lot!!
Where can you buy it now? Amazon Germany only has the robot, not the pro ultra full set.
I’m not sure about release date, I don’t have information about release date
I've read somewhere it's Mid-end april
I read today that the release date is April 30.

Great choice!
Do you have a release date ?
No I don’t I think March or April it depends on your country

No remote camera? probably just firmware update since the 7 is possible
As far as I know there is no rgb camera so remote viewing isn’t an option like on the s7
Nice review. I don't understand why they went back with brush type side brush instead of rubber one.i think this will cause more scratches on floor.
S8 pro ultra has 2 rubber brush. The one I was showing for comparison was from Ecovacs and I prefer Roborock’s rubber one too
Why do none of these reviews focus on the obstacle avoidance? This is the biggest area of improvement needed in these high end vacuums
I talked about it in this video. It worked pretty well on the s7 and the s8 is on par. I made a Timelapse where it avoided all the obstacles and never stuck
@@ShadesOfTech My S7 maxV obstacle avoidance isn’t that great, still wants to suck up cords. Still have to babysit these vacuums
From my experience it’s better than Ecovacs and Dreame. Chords must be tight together. If it’s a loose cable probably any robot vacuum will detect it.
