I have a 2010, and I have separation anxiety. I sat in the 2017, 2018 and I just can't find a reason to switch.. I did ceramic coating on my black 2010 and it looks new and the style seems timeless. I just hit 100k miles and while maintenance is hitting me for an average of $3000 a year (e.g., preventive work) this car has never failed me once (yet)... still drive like new and I've taken it on 2 long 400 mile trips, each drive was a flawless experience.. and you have to be careful because doing 90mph in this feels like 60mph in another car. I have 2 other MB, a 2017 E300 (wife) and 2018 GLS 450... my 2010 S is still my favorite car, ever. *This car also just saved my family and I from a for-sure accident if we were in another car: A car moved out-of-place from a Stop sign into my right of way path on the road (no Stop sign for me, but for them).. I swear I hit the breaks expecting to lighten the impact of what was going to be for sure a side collision into the crossing vehicle... Nope.. the S-Class stopped on a dime, from 40mph, in less than 2 secs, the car was at a complete stop, no screeching, no sliding, just dead instant stop... I then told my kid in the car, when he get grown with his own family, don't drive anything but a MB...
The RX-8 comparison is valid, and the high rear end is not as obvious as the BMW Bangle Butt, but you can tell they were stealing each others ideas, for better, or (in this case) worse.
If you are going to compare something against something else, you need to know almost as much about the other as u do about yours. Not able to at least say the models of of the other competitors is not good. Do your research to show people why you actually like this over the others.

I've just yesterday purchased a 2006 s class with the 320 v6 diesel which is popular in Europe, mine has 47,000 miles and it has been exceptionally well cared for, underneath is as new, I've never seen a cleaner car, even though it's over 16 years old I'm completely in love with all of it...a true masterpiece of German engineering....
I have a 2013 and it is the best. 400 horsepower twin turbo. heated cooled massage on all 4 seats. great handling and acceleration and with a Bluetooth adapter you can get apple car play. I'd say the seats are far more comfortable in the older models than in the new models.

When this generation came out in 2007, it didn't feel or drive any different then the late 90s through 06 models. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I was surprised that it wasn't that big of a leap between the two. They did change the front interior of the car and the backseat area remained almost the same as far as styling. But then again that's most automakers for you.
Well, late 90s were the W140 series - wonderful cars, but a much older design. The W220 series (2000-2006 in the U.S.) were a beautiful design but plagued with electronic woes that were sorted out in the last couple years of production. The W221 is bigger, faster and more luxurious throughout, with a more modern interior but a more detached driving experience.
The later years of W220 being better cars is such a massive myth. Everything about the earlier cars (save for first year, which U.S. didn't get) ended up being more reliable and easier to work on. The early COMAND 2.5 was more reliable than later units with D2B fiber optics and Airmatic suspension was far more reliable and easier to service than ABC (and convertible to springs). This myth is spread like wildfire by the clueless who just parrot the myth everywhere they go.

I have 2008 4matic same interior with Sport + AMG package p1p2 package fully loaded. Now clocked 100000 miles and still drives like a dream. My previous one was s500 2006 sold at 275000. These are damn reliable cars. One thumb rule is Stitch in Time saves Nine. Be on top with maintenance of fluids and general stuff. You will enjoy trouble free ride for many years. The world uses this car in Taxis in middle east and drive for ever. If they can afford it so can you. But you need to make sure you dont buy a lemon in the first place. Get pre inspection ✅ done prior to deal. Loved the review bro. The Best or Nothing- Mercedes Benz.

all i can say, if you can't afford to maintain them ...don't buy one. But the amount of pleasure you derive in owning and driving an S CLASS is truly breathtaking! I should know because I have a 2008 S Class 350...and it feels like you are driving on-air not on the road.
I bought a 2008 5 years ago the worst mistake i ever made it lives in the shop it only cost 20k with a extended warranty and we spent over 50k in it and its in the shop right now with know warranty. everything that fixed has to refixed out of 5 yrs i only drove it a yr maybe. i drive it a week or 2 and have to park it for months saving up money to fix it. Now its only worth 4 to 6k so depending on cost to fix it this time it might have to be junked
I love the car my dad got a S550 aside from his I only ever see them somewhere ruined struts destroyed paint bad tires about to cave in I always figured S meant Struts lol the night vision option the super comfy seats the timeless design of I could afford the 63 or 55 AMG I would grab one up after winning a small lottery
Those wheel center caps are $30 on Amazon for all 4. The old faded ones really date this car. I know this is an old video but that's just something I noticed on this otherwise beautiful car
ulflei no lol it was fine till it turned 5, then it slowly started crumbling under its own weight combined with my spirited driving habits and La potholes, the poor thing’s had it rough, but at this point it’s practically a frame on resto 😂, I remember when I realized I’d gradually spent more on maintenance than the cars value. I’m stuck with it at this point, no point to give up till the engine goes
