- Scotland’s First Minister has been urged to back legislative proposals to ensure those at “death’s door” from drug and alcohol addiction can access recovery.
The Right to Addiction Recovery Bill, introduced by Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross, is set to be officially launched in Holyrood on Wednesday.
If passed, it gives addicts access to appropriate treatment as soon as practicable, and within three weeks at most.
Ahead of the Member’s Bill’s launch, Mr Ross has urged John Swinney to throw the weight of his Government behind the proposals to avoid additional delays in bringing forward the legislation.
The Scottish Tory leader told the PA news agency the Bill could be an “absolute gamechanger”.

How about we have an entitlement to a dentist and doctor first eh ummmm ?
I would even settle to get an appointment that month
Everything cut apart from junkie funding
How about yours finish supporting medical cannabis users and get the NHS to do their jobs
It is a great idea.
Will cost a lot and i dont see where that comes from under the London Governments.
Free the Weed!
Nae money will be Swinney’s excuse, as usual.
Ross is such a horrible person, just ask any Celtic supporter.

The level of funding required is almost the same as it costs to run Holyrood as well as pay MSPs and their exce's - so shut Holyrood, get rid of these numpties and it'd be cost free 😁
someone complaining about a 30mil program given the UKs multi billion annual budget (nearly trillion dollar last year), is an even bigger numpty
