I think the main reason the Sonic fans are mad about Mufasa essentially gloating that it is the #1 movie globally is because Sonic has yet to be released globally so it feels to them like Disney is celebrating a race that technically hasn't started yet. The marketing for Mufasa just feels very scummy right now saying it's number 1 both Globally (which it is but only on a technicality) and number 1 in America (which is just straight-up false.). But I do entirely agree that the warring with each other is rather unnecessary.
@ I agree that it would have been best if they released it everywhere at the same time but for all we know there could have been some delays with recording the other versions or other elements. I honestly doubt they’d hold back their blockbuster so their competitor would get a head start globally for no reason, that just doesn’t makes sense from a business standpoint.
I agree with you. As much as I don’t like mufasa, I have nothing against people who are interested in it. I will always love Sonic 3 more and I have nothing against those who weren’t fan of Sonic 3. Not everyone will be a fan of the same thing, and that’s ok.
I agree, Sonic movie series is not great, and there's plenty of flaws in it, but Mufasa is just the same too, yet it is better than 2019 version. Not judging or hating people for their opinions either and if they like it or not, that's ok.
I'm really grateful that you made this video. I had recently learned of the war between the movies and had wanted to watch a video discussing it, but for goodness sake, I couldn't find anything that would CIVILLY talk about this division that's occured, and I'm glad that you are the one who is addressing the issue in a civil, agreeable way. Now, I have to be honest. I watched Mufasa during one week, and then watched Sonic 3 the following week. And as someone who felt that the first LA Lion King looked more like a Natural Geographic drama, I was plesantly surprised with Mufasa. Clearly, Disney was listening to the criticism from the first LA movie and improved at least to some degree with Mufasa. They honored the late voice actor for Mufasa in great way, and the songs from the movie were pretty enjoyable. I did find some of their camera angles very odd, but beyond that, it was fine. I do miss Disney's old way of doing movies though; their classic 2D films just hit a bit different than some of their very recent movies, and I do have a real problem with how Disney as a company is acting currently. Sonic 3 was an amazing movie, and I was looking forward to it since I heard about it. Jim Carey was a bit more cringe in that movie, but that's just how Jim acts as a whole, so that's just speaking about MY humor preferences. Sonic 3's story centered around a very real issue people face when someone you love gets hurt, and I think including a very relatable, human experience gives a story more heart and life, and lately (besides Inside Out 2), Disney's attempts at this have been falling a bit flat. In general, I know I can get a little carried away by how really big movies get pitted against one another, especially if one of those movies comes from Disney. I don't trust them as a company as much as I used to. That's why that as a general rule, I avoid videos that review certain movies depending on the situation. I don't want to be blinded by the way movies go so much so that I forget that I interact with the people themselves on a daily basis. Movie reviews have the potential of opening a can of worms that make me forget the more simple but important things of life, so other than yours, Brian, I more often than not stay away from movie reviews. ...and pardon the book text. I had a bit to say. :)
It's not that Sonic fans necessarily dislike Mufasa. Sonic fans are upset because Disney chose last minute to try and sabotage their movie's chances of success and overall franchise's future (keep in mind, Disney only announced Mufasa's final release date back in April. That's a very, VERY last-minute change for a major studio to make in this industry) And Disney clearly did so with the unshakable belief that Paramount would "move out of the way" and forfeit one of the biggest moviegoing times of the year completely to them despite having claimed that date first. In a world where Disney has basically purchased everything under the sun, controls all theatrical distribution deals/premium screens, and is the only studio that seems able to financially compete in this rapidly evaporating box office ring despite offering nothing but remakes of other artists' stories and works and/or sequels/prequels that change and/or undermine previous artists' stories and works, I think it's pretty understandable why Sonic fans are so upset about all this. Modern Disney is such a behemoth with so much say in the entertainment market, that they never permit other works or fandoms to have their time in the sun. Personally, I am very upset about the way Disney has handled this whole situation (including hiding Sonic fan comments on social media and lying/misleading the public about box office information). Personally, I will never, EVER pay to see another Disney film in theaters again. I'm officially 100% done financially supporting a "champion" who never actually plays the game with other competitors and only opts to steal others' work, buyout others' work, or undermine and cheat those who are actually listening to their audiences and trying to deliver great new movies.
Mufasa was supposed to release in 4th July (summer) but due to strike and production delay it got pushed back. Desember slot originally slate for Avatar 3 So I'll say you guys Sonic fans so be thankful cause your movie isn't up against Avatar lol
@@alfredokusuma9511 Even though Sonic wouldn't have taken the "#1 in America" spot if it had faced Avatar, the movie would've likely done much, much better overall because Sonic and Avatar aren't geared towards the same demographic. But Sonic and Mufasa are. I personally witnessed a family at the cinema on Christmas debate which movie to take their three very young children to see. The dad wanted to see Sonic 3 but the mom insisted on Mufasa because quote "Well, Mufasa is Disney and Lion King and we already spent too much money this Christmas so why don't we just do that one instead since we know it's a Disney [movie] and we know the girls will like it cause they love the cartoon one." They ultimately went with Mufasa. I'm sure they weren't the only family this holiday season torn between the two films. In a world where just seeing one movie with the family can easily cost more than $100, many people are forced to choose only one title. And that's a BIG problem when two movies are fighting for the exact same audience demographic.
I’m not a fan of this Sonic vs Lion King war either, Brian. I’m a fan of both franchises. Therefore, I went to see both films; and enjoyed both as well. All this toxicity around these films is just stupid and a real waste of time. I’m glad you brought up this subject, Brian. As far as I’m concerned, you are the only person who spoke on this senseless film war and wish for everyone to put it to rest; much like myself. So, I thank you for speaking your mind about this. Much respect, bro! ✊🏽
Same here i love sonic and lion king always has in fact its actuly awsome see two franchise i love relase new installmeants at the same time and yes i see it as a barbie oppenhimer thing
Yes! I wish more people recognized this weird situation where fandom, especially on the internet, has in many spaces forgotten we are not the majority in audiences. We gotta be able to see people like/dislike media without taking it as a statement about who they are as a person and how valid they are.
Yes, the fandoms talk loudly, but we're such a small number! We need to remember most people don't think about movies half as much as we do, and we need to be careful to not shoot down anyone who doesn't agree
You’re spot on. I loved both movies! It’s like comparing apples to oranges, they are their own completely different thing. I felt afraid voicing that I like Mufasa to even some of my friends because they had this view that we had to only like Sonic 3 and trash on Mufasa, which made me uncomfortable.
My "friend" In a group chat is a Disney hater and a massive Sonic fanboy, so naturally he spat on this... Needless to say I really had the urge to slap that guy at this point mentally or at least just tell him off at last.
Ya and the films had very different target audiences so it’s understandable why someone who liked Sonic disliked Mufasa or vice versa, but the war on it is so dumb, like why can’t people enjoy what they enjoy?
Yes but you know how sonic 3 is number 1 movie in America. Disney is jealous cause they wanna be number 1. Disney is forcing theaters Mufasa more screen in the theaters. That's probably why some people dont like Mufasa. And Disney's trailer of Mufasa says their number 1 in America which their not. I don't like Mufasa because it's another stupid live action movie🙄
I'm so sick of this stupid war. You can like both. You dont have to like just one or the other. I like both Sonic and The Lion King, but i would SO like to be able to say how much i liked Mufasa without people bashing me for not mentioning Sonic.
An apology from me, but the main reason we Sonic fans are mad is because Disney is gloating about Mufasa being the #1 movie in the world, when Sonic 3 hasn't released internationally yet. And then straight up lying about being the #1 movie in America which is completely untrue. So I hate that we have to take it out on the LK fans, but Disney is just a greedy company, so I'm sorry about those who judge you for liking the movie.
Sonic Characters Singing Sonic Songs! PLEASE? - Live and Learn - Reach for the Stars - It Doesn't Matter - Believe in Myself - Endless Possibilities - His World - Sonic Heroes
@@Darkpyrodragoonit’s not out of the realm of possibility they can always get someone to sing Brad Kane did the singing voice of Aladdin while Scott Weigner did the acting Lea Salonga did the singing voice for Jasmine and Mulan for example
I don't actually take this "war" seriously between the two movies I only take it as a big meme, but I do get it why you don't wanna be a part of it (I am only there for the laughs). I've seen Sonic 3 in theaters and I loved it (and that comes from not that much of a Sonic fan) and I am planning to see Mufasa on streaming, cause it doesn't look worthy enough to see on the big screen (at least to me anyway). People should be more accepting to other people's opinions
Brian, you're one of the most wholesome Disney-tubers I know. The only reason anyone would spite your opinion on both movies is because they're way steeped in bias. I am a HUGE Sonic fan and I thought your review on the movie was decent and respectful. I figured there was something that wasn't clicking with you like the other sonic fans because you are most likely not the kind of person that knows everything about the game that the movie is based on. Most of the people that were cheering were indeed major sonic fans. Mufasa I even expected you too be more of a fan of because you ARE the Disney guy. The difference is (And I pointed this out in your previous Sonic 3 review) is that you don't come across as a SHILL. You're a fan with balanced opinions. That is something that as a Sonic fan I can respect. So if you really feel like you needed to re-state of contextualize your opinion, you didn't. We know you're cool and we totally love and respect you. Keep bein' the Disney guy, Brian! 😉
I agree, I'm a Sonic fan and The Lion King fan, and I respect your opinion on what you said to both films, I haven't seen Mufasa just yet, I plan to but I'm just gonna wait till it gets to Disney +, cause I'm a little angy at Disney for just making these recent films (except for Inside Out 2) a cash grab, but I have seen Sonic 3, it's a lot better than the 2nd one, and yes there was a lot of cheering including from me about the films Easter eggs, references and everything, including it's post credits scene! When I saw Mufasa's trailers and everything. I kinda expected to be kinda pointless? I didn't like it's 2019 version, but I will say the animation improved a bit and they're more expressions, like I said I need to see it before I say anything else, but I really missed the 2D Animation and I felt like would be more excited about Mufasa being 2D Animation and being a direct to video sequel or something and also releasing 20-25 years ago like Lion King 2 and 1½ cause that was the most popularity time period, cause I love it's original lore towards Mufasa and Taka in the books, so I was disappointed that they changed the lore but it's for the 2019 version I was just there like ehh, they do what they want, obviously the war between Sonic 3 vs Mufasa is ridiculous, but another thing we hated was when Disney tried to sabotage the success of Sonic 3 all cause they were so petty that Mufasa wasn't number one in the box office I mean you have 2 films in top 5 at least? Is that not good enough? Apparently not, cause it's Disney and wants all of our money, and I've heard that they abused theaters to put more screenings of Mufasa so it can beat Sonic 3, well they succeeded worldwide and I'm having a feeling they did abuse theaters worldwide for this success, this is not me throwing shade to Mufasa but Disney itself cause Bob Iger is a crybaby for being number 2.
I think the Disney and theaters thing has to do with Disney taking all of i think AMCs, IMAX or maybe Dolby (basically fancy screens) and Sonic didn't get any or something
That was what I had heard, but can't find any official source to validate this. So, unless I see reports from credible sources, I'm going to assume that didn't happen and this is just an internet rumor.
I agree with all of your points! Im a Lion King fan and enjoyed Mufasa, but I also really had a lot of fun with Sonic 3. Im tired of the war between fans for liking one movie over another. To the point where Ive gotten death threats for saying I enjoyed Mufasa more. I’m biased towards Lion King stuff the same way Sonic fans are biased towards Sonic stuff. It’s getting seriously toxic to the point where I had to leave certain social media platforms.
Yeah, as a sonic fan myself, some of these guys can be straight losers and they be the same ones that be harassing Sega when they don’t make a game that they like take anything to have with the sonic fan base says with a grain of salt and disregard it and this is coming from a fan of sonic since I was a kid
Oh my gosh that’s crazy, sorry to hear it! You shouldn’t ever be told that for liking something especially as simple as a movie. I enjoy both franchises too (TLK more) so I get where you’re coming from.
Honestly, Brian, you’re an absolute sweetheart. I live in the UK, where the films haven’t gotten much attention, and this “war” just caused me so much anger and disbelief. Seriously, one of the most aggravating I’ve ever seen and just shows how awful the internet is at times, where it just becomes a carbon-copy of Ralph Breaks the Internet.
I myself also enjoyed them both, but yes there are parts I felt could have been better in both films alike. Also this whole war thing is super ridiculous, I see it everyday, especially Sonic fans attacking on Mufasa in every single post and ads. But yes I am a fan of both so I watched both films last Friday.😁
As a Sonic fan myself, I think I can explain, at least from my perspective, why people have been pitting these two against each other. 1. A lot of people wanted Mufasa to fail in general because of the reception to the 2019 remake. Word on it has only gotten worse in the last five years, and people think that dogging on it will prevent more Disney remakes. 2. Us Sonic fans have a traumatic history of losing and can get pretty sensitive about it. When we DO get a win, it's a really big deal for us. As you might imagine, this gets us extremely competitive over the pettiest of match-ups. Earlier this year, you should've seen the amount of Sonic fans claiming that Sonic had finally beaten Mario simply because IGN rated our holiday release higher than his. Add in a bit of misinformation and foul play from Disney and the result is a holy war.
I just want Disney to bring back traditional their 2D Animation for their films. There's so much potential, this is one reason I wasn't interested in seeing Mufasa. I know it's an odd reason, but I've never been a fan of this whole "We have this cartoony IP so many love, now let's make all of it real."
The “war” between Sonic and Mufasa is mainly because it’s Disney involved. Barbenheimer and Gladiator & Wicked didn’t have Disney involved. The other movies were about the fans, whereas everyone is saying Disney is just doing it for the money. Meanwhile, Sonic 3, while far from a perfect movie is DEFINITELY made with the fans in mind, and that’s why it’s getting so much praise. It’s the passion and acknowledgment of the audience that people are going to “war” over.
Sonic the hedgehog and Lion King are beloved franchises. They have been here for a long long time lol. I think it’s important to respect their legacy and the audience they built even if you are not into one or the other franchise. Plus these are 2 Vastly different films, one is a live action/animated hybrid and the other is CGI with completely different stories, characters and worlds. People shouldn’t hate each just because they like one movie over the other. At the end of the day they are both fictional franchises with cartoons animals, people need to chill out 😂
I appreciate you coming out and reviewing both these movies again. As a Sonic fan, Sonic 3 is an incredible film. For Disney fans, (which I am more casual/ less of one), Mufasa is a good movie, and I believe the Disney fans like it a lot. For me, I'm a Christian and mostly view these movies with a Biblical lens and try to put my feelings on these films with a Biblical perspective. For Sonic 3, this film represents good vs. evil, redemption, loss, true love, family, etc. and there are also some issues, but the goodness beats the darkness for me. Once Mufasa comes out, I will probably watch that one too to figure out my perspective on that. For me, Disney has been hit or miss when it comes to movies and trying to put politics over storytelling, I hope Mufasa doesn't do that. I also hope Mufasa has some "Christian-friendly" messages too and can be used in that way. God bless you Brian and everyone in the comments!
No way! I grew up in a Christian family and do the same thing with the Sonic movies too! I haven't watched Mufasa, but I am positive that it has to be a good movie!
As a fellow Christian I’ve always resonated with TLK because of the way Mufasa is represented feels almost spiritual to me (like He Lives In You seems like a reference to God imo and I’ve even heard of some Christian churches using it as a worship song). Mufasa was clean and Christian friendly, and I found some Christian-esque messages in it just not as much as the 1994 movie.
If you’ll indulge a long comment for a moment. I’ll try and explain the “war” and how it even came to that to begin with: Ever since around 2006, Sonic fans have been attacked online just for being Sonic fans, this has lead to the fandom being both defensive and overly aggressive, and any objective victory (eg, a piece of Sonic media nobody can deny is good) is highly celebrated and often rubbed in the face of detractors. I’m sure you already know about Ugly Sonic so I’ll skip over that and come to the 14th Feb 2020, the release date of Sonic Movie 1, where it went up against Birds of Prey. For some reason the Harley Quinn stans decided to try and smear Sonic 1 to get more people to watch BOP, it didn’t work and Sonic 1 destroyed it at the box office. Then the virus happened, and because there was no Avengers movie that year, Sonic 1 was 2020’s most successful Super Hero film and the MCU stans hated that, so that was an argument for a while. 2022 rolls around and Sonic 2 comes out, and they’re up against another capeshit movie, this time, the infamous Morbius. Sonic won the box office again and being 2 for 2 against DC and Marvel there was a feeling of being untouchable and the fans were looking to do it again when Movie 3 came around. Fast forward to now, and you pretty much covered everything, the fan war, the Disney cover ups, whole 9 yards. Sonic hasn’t finished its international releases yet, and if it keeps earning like it is now, it’ll likely overtake Mufasa outside the U.S. market by mid January. I have my own Sonic bias and my own opinions on these “””live””” action Lion King films. But I agree that fans shouldn’t be fighting each other over these silly kids movies. If you gotta fight, fight with your wallet and not hurtful words.
There's definitely something wholesome about people who were excited for and enjoyed both "Mufasa" and "Sonic 3". It's definitely nice to hear equal excitement compared to the "Sonic is better" comments.
Amen. Do we need a Mufasa vs Sonic 3 war. I am a huge Lion King and Sonic fan and I was excited for both movies. I honestly thought that both movies coming out the same day as a fantastic Christmas present. We can be fans that are okay with fans of other franchises without making a big fuss over it. Just like being a biologist and still have fun watching a movie about cartoon animals or a gamer watching a movie loosely based on classical stories. We are all fans and we need to respect each other’s interests and opinions.
I have to agree with you on this, Brian. I think I’m going to like Mufasa when it hits on Disney Plus this upcoming year. And I’m going to LOVE/own Sonic 3 on Blu-Ray!
From what I know... the main reason this war is happening is that both Disney and Paramount wanted that December 20 release date. Sonic 3 hasn't budged from it. Meanwhile, Mufasa is the 3rd Disney project slotted for that date. (The first was Avatar 3 and the 2nd was Thunderbolts.) As someone on the Sonic side that wants to see this movie succeed financially, I found it really crummy of Disney to try to take that spotlight... especially after Inside Out 2, _Deadpool & Wolverine,_ and Moana 2 made them so much money. I don't hate Mufasa... I hate Disney for their business practices. If Mufasa had been released just one week either before or after, I wouldn't care. But especially after Disney's been strong-arming priority for Mufasa showtimes... I'm just so fed up with them as a company. (For example, I really wanted to see Sonic 3 in IMAX, but I couldn't because Mufasa was the only one with IMAX showtimes.) I don't hate Mufasa at all... I'm only holding a bit of a grudge against Disney. If you made it to the end of this ridiculously long comment, you're a real one. Thanks!❤
I get you enjoyed Lion King, that's cool, the problem is that it comes of the cost of Disney relying on nostalgia for revenue instead of trying hard and make original ideas, it's clear that Sonic had more passion in the film over Mufasa being a cashgrab Also regarding the theater blocking, as far as i know alot of theaters, especially the ones in my area don't have Sonic 3 on IMAX screens as they've all been reserved for Mufasa. Also Sonic 3 had a late start worldwide so Mufasa is kinda cheating when it comes to "#1 film worldwide"
THIS!!! It reeks of desperation from Disney imo, trying to recreate their previous successes and actively trying to sabotage the competition for the chance at more money. The sonic movies are made with real love and heart, and the people who work on them have put effort into listening to the fans over and over. If people enjoyed Mufasa, good for them! But I think that sonic has earned its success a lot more.
I was “eh” on the live action “The Lion King”. And I totally loved Sonic 3 (want to see it again!), yet I will always cherish the animated Lion King movies. I just am not following Disney too closely anymore. The last good movie they made that I watched was Encanto.
I'm glad you brought this up! Sure, I enjoyed Sonic 3 more than Mufasa but both movies are equally good. I agree that Mufasa could be better but it was still a fun movie nonetheless. This toxicity is just a bunch of crap.
Your opinion is totally valid. I do love the animated Lion King a lot more than the "live action" film. But the story itself is fairly interesting. However, I do like the Sonic 3 movie a bit more for nostalgic purposes and reasons.
Brian u have to remember a good amount Sonic fans like myself appreciate all the work that Paramount is doing because it shows that they care about the fans themselves which clearly is proof from the theaters. And as much as I love Disney unfortunately they do crappy movies lately. They need to stop with the remakes and listen to fans. That’s my issue with Disney and the fact that they are sore losers just because Sonic is beating them.
I personally don’t like the Sonic and Mufasa war!!!! I loved both of them cause I’m both and Sonic and lion king girl, Can we all just Agree to Disagree and leave it at that!?!?!?
As a Sonic fan myself I had a real blast with "Sonic The Hedgehog 3", I just wasn't too excited for "Mufasa" because of the fact that it is a prequel to the live-action remake and not the animated one, and you know how people feel about these live-action remakes, and yes I have heard about this Sonic 3 vs Mufasa war going on Twitter, It's probably best if Disney doesn't make a big deal of this just because "Mufasa" failed at the domestic box-office.
I don't want to root for a film to bomb, but Mufasa should've been 2D, and it succeeding is just going to reinforce Disney's idea that they don't have to respect animation, that they can simply replace it with something that is only a pale imitation without any consequences. Absolutely fair that you want to just want to be in the Pridelands again... But why can't we be there in 2D? 😭
Sonic 3 almost made me cry of hapiness. It was so nostalgic for me as im a major sonic fan, and other people in my family saw it and sais it was amazing too.
I only went to see Sonic for my birthday last week, I don't mind Mufasa, I just didn't care much for it. But Sonic 3 was a perfect script written in pure gold according to Jim Carrey, and there wasn't one point in the movie that I wasn't amused. But maybe us Sonic 3 fans need to give Mufasa, a cash grab from the rat wearing red shorts, another chance. This video is really persuading, I'll see Mufasa when it comes to Disney+ 😎
First off i really appreciate that you made another video reclarifying your opions on the movies. Its good to get your point across clear and to be ok with trying again if you feel like you didnt to a great job the first time. Thanks for always trying your best for us.😊 And i definitely agree that movie arguments like the sonic and mufasa one are rediculas. Having a different opinion is an amazing and discussing them is one thing but hating and arguing with eachother is another. Theres value in different veiws and being open to them all is good, its how healthy discussions happen. Thanks for being such a great youtber, every time i get a notification that you posted i get so excited for when i have time to watch it.😊
Honestly I've grown up a Disney kid, and like, I respect people's opinions, but the drama between Disney Lovers & Disney Haters is just awful. Its sad that the internet has become the hell that it is. I've stuck with Disney through the 2020's lump, and honestly yeah, I won't ignore that Disney has made some awful crap in the past 5 years, but here recently 2023-2025 Disney has begun to come back, it may not be fast, but sometimes, slow and steady wins the race. I saw Sonic 3, and I am within the Sonic Fanbase & the Disney Fanbase, so I thought it was really good and exciting. Sonic 3 had me on my toes and freaking Jim Carrey really went out with a bang both figuratively and literally. I am yet to see Mufasa, but from what I have seen it looks decent. The animation is great ( which makes it look "live action" ) I'm hoping the story does the job. Right now for Disney, they know they need to make a slower comeback and that's what people don't see. Disney taking it slow in order to give themselves time to do the best they can and I appreciate that. Wish to me was a decent movie, the songs were epic. This Is The Thanks I Get was really catchy, and At All Costs is something I would sing to my future child whenever I get to that point of life. Moana 2 has some of Disney's catchiest songs of the year in it in my opinion, and the story felt rushed but it did the job. Right now, that's enough for me when it comes to Disney's comeback, if it does the job, I like it. But the Disney vs. Sonic war has to stop before both sides get hurt. I'm hoping with Disney in the future that it returns to the movies that had heart and weren't afraid to send powerful messages to the audience. I mean Disney made WW2 propaganda for goodness sakes, that was a risk they were willing to take that people today would deem offensive, but when you think about it back then, it was a way of fighting back without getting physically involved. I think Disney has some work to do, and one day I hope to see Disney restored to what it used to be. I think we're getting close. I'm excited for the Lilo & Stitch live action movie, the marketing has been amazing and so far it looks like this will be Disney's best movie of the recent years. Anyways, great video, if you do read this comment, good job making it through it! Feel free to leave a reply! Ok bye.
You definitely make some good points in this video. Personaly i like sonic more ( im sonic fan so that is to be expected) but i didn't hate mufasa and thought it did some interesting this and i liked alote of the songs. I think that if you like mufasa that is totaly fin same for sonic 3 so let's keep it that way 😊
Sonic 3 is better. Mufasa was better than I expected. It did feel like the Lion King all over again though. You also have the Transformers One like story telling. Where you know bestfriends who consider each other brothers. Will predictably become enemies. It’s better than the animated sequels and prequels though.
I get your “The Lion King” love because I am also a huge The Lion King fan yet I am also a Sonic fan and I think it might just be because Mufasa introduced a new part of a beloved stories backstory while Sonic 3 just made a cinematic version of a fan favorite game and while I haven’t seen Mufasa yet which really backfires my argument I did enjoy watching disneys clips from the film and I have “I always wanted a brother” stuck in my head. Due to the hate Mufasa is getting online I think that just really scared me from seeing it but I think that that’s a bit childish to put it I guess 😂. So when I go watch mufasa I’ll have my 100% opinion on the matter. I hope this comment makes sense I’m tired from writing music all night lol
Your a Lion King fan, simple as that. I’m a Sonic fan so already the opinion no matter what is going to be different. I commented on the last vid and I still stand by it that I respect that Lion King is special to you and at least you enjoyed Sonic for as much as you could.
As fans of both Sonic the Hedgehog and The Lion King (or Disney), I like both movies, no matter animated or live action (as well as video games). But I am not expecting that Mufasa: The Lion King surpassed the box office before Sonic the Hedgehog 3 showing on cinemas, still love them. (Just like Disney’s Frozen 2, Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, Sony’s Jumanji The Next Level back in 2019)
I liked Mufasa more than Sonic but I recognize that this is more about toxic fandoms people aren't even talking about Nosferatu or Moana 2 has made more than both put together
For Sonic, what you lack is the nostalgia, which isn't your fault. For us sonic fans that grew up playing the games and loving the storylines, it was a treat. My husband went to see it with me. He didn’t grow up playing the games, so he was able to tell me what his views were. He liked the movie, but he didn’t quite get the relationship between Gerald Robitnik and Maria. The movie didn’t make that 100% clear; however, the Sonic fans know the story and were happy to go on with the story. I noticed in the movie, the only mention of him being Maria's grandfather was a quick line from a guard saying, "hey that's the scientist's granddaughter" so if you didnt catch it, it may be lost on someone not familiar with the story. In my opinion it was a wonderful movie and I cant wait for it to be avaliable for purchase 😊
I agree with you Brian, I'm tired of this "war" and now people are threatening Disney and begging Sega because there's this rumor about Disney buying Sega and Sonic because of a false unconfirmed rumor on Reddit. I want people to stop and agree to disagree before threatening and harassing someone because that's the most unmature action.
While I am a Lion King fan, I absolutely hated the 2019 remake, so I have no interest in seeing Mufasa. I did see Sonic 3 and I loved it, but I’m not going to be toxic towards anyone who enjoyed Mufasa. I’d question why they liked it and what did they like about it, but I’m not going to say mean things towards them for liking it. It’s all a matter of opinion. It doesn’t matter if you liked Mufasa or Sonic 3 or both or even disliked them both. It’s just an opinion and that’s okay. It’s a shame that people can’t have different opinions without being criticized for it. As you had questioned, why can’t we just agree to disagree?
Sheesh! Why is it that so many people these days just don’t understand how to respect others’ opinions. I loved Sonic 3, and I’m not even a big fan of Sonic. I love the live-action movies, though. Despite being a huge TLK/Disney, I was personally more interested in Sonic 3. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to see Mufasa.
I feel kinda bad that u had to make a video abt both movies again. It seems like u praised Sonic 3 more while giving Mufasa the lion king more criticism as a way to appease the Sonic fans, and as Sonic fan I gotta tell u that there are a bunch of toxic Sonic fans that will rip u down emotionally just for having a different opinion I hope that didn’t happen to u Brian I’m sorry if that’s how u felt don’t let that bring u down. I might have a bias for Sonic but I don’t blame u for liking Mufasa more! Keep up the great work man!
you tell em brian!! especially on the last part,as someone who enjoyed the og live action lion king,i wish this was said a long time ago,i remember the amount of flack that i caught for liking it in high school was so bad it hurt ngl,but i wish people would take what you said here to heart no matter the movie,im fine with talking about what people genuinely didnt like or liked about a movie, but when people get immature about it is when i take issue
The difference is that Mufasa is a cash grab non-canon live action prequel Disney while Sonic 3 is an actual awesome video game movie with fan service.
I understand not liking the mufasa vs Sonic war. I think it’s okay to like both. But I’m team sonic because...well I’m a sonic fan. But my reason is, I want to stick it to Disney and say to them caring about your audience and having passion in your work is to be rewarded. Not cooperate cashgrabs, don’t like it, Get over it type of attitude. Meanwhile sega and paramount , listened to our Criticism and took it to heart and made the movies better and honored us fans with respecting the character and the source material. My hope is that Disney will take a bite of humble pie and make an effort to respect both their properties and the fans they make it for. ....that and I’m just team sonic 😅😂
I LOVED Sonic The Hedgehog 3. I’m a fan of Sonic and The Lion King (1994). Personally, I didn’t need these live action Lion King films and was never excited about them to begin with because they just feel empty to me. So when Mufasa was announced, I just ignored it. Plus Disney as a whole, I’ve grown tired of. I may not agree with you on Mufasa but I respect your opinion, Brian. I understand if Sonic is something that just doesn’t click for you and that’s ok. I’m sorry if you faced any negativity over your opinions.
I even hate this Sonic and Lion King internet war. of all things to fight over and it just makes me feel like the internet are just fighting over stuff like kids. what the heck is that about? option is an option...
Both movies are good tbh, Mufusa is basically one of Disneys better live actions although the little mermaid was pretty good and lilo and stitch looks like it will break the curse and Disney finally listening like how Netflix did with one piece.
Everyone makes mistakes! Haha. I watched a total of 60 films last year. But I did a ranking on my channel with 58 films. You get busy with life sometimes that you completely forget to add something in a video or your brain is so full you forget to say something.
Can I say something stupid? I’m not giving Disney any of my money until they can stop throwing their massive tantrums. The company is trying to ruin Sonic 3's success just because their Christmas movie is not doing well at the box office. I get that making films is a competitive business, but this is not good behavior from a massive company.
As someone who loved Sonic 3 and has no intention of seeing Mufasa, I also think the fan war is kind of dumb. This also is not the first time the Sonic fandom has done this, I think there was a big one against the Genshin Impact fandom to promote Sonic Frontiers as Game of the Year and it was kinda hectic. It honestly doesn’t matter to me if Mufasa has the bigger box office in the end, it won’t change that Sonic was at its heels and Disney still needs to do better at making projects that aren’t entirely disingenuous. Especially with the Snow White remake on the way.
I saw both movies, Mufasa had its good moments for sure but I enjoyed Sonic 3 more though. Then again maybe it needed a 3rd movie, like another hotel Transylvania movie where you play Dracula again lol (I’m still waiting on word for that new tv series set to premiere although thanks to Nickelodeon I’m constantly watching Hotel Transylvania 1-4)
Brian I Totally Understand Your Opinion On This And I Hope That The Movies I See Will Be Good And Plus I Wish You A Happy New Year My Friend Love You 🥰 💖
I really enjoyed mufasa and since i saw it in icelandic since i live in iceland the dub was not too bad and i must say mpc really improved in terms of animation but i would have been fine with the film if it was in hand drawn and was canon to the orginal but the film still great as it is
13:19 okay for me I thought Strange World was okay but Wish fell flat for me it had obvious points in which the story could’ve gone to make it better but didn’t although I did like Easter eggs but I feel those were too plainly obvious and hype they made for it was underwhelming 😒😒😒😒
I'm not mad at you for anything that you said Brian Hull I like the things that you say about movies I may have different thoughts about some movies and I might not like some movies that you like but I like a lot of the of the content that you make
I think the main reason the Sonic fans are mad about Mufasa essentially gloating that it is the #1 movie globally is because Sonic has yet to be released globally so it feels to them like Disney is celebrating a race that technically hasn't started yet. The marketing for Mufasa just feels very scummy right now saying it's number 1 both Globally (which it is but only on a technicality) and number 1 in America (which is just straight-up false.). But I do entirely agree that the warring with each other is rather unnecessary.
Paramounts fault for not knowing how to schedule and it's first weekend in Japans will be over shadowed by the EDO light festival
Correction. The race did start. Mufasa just thinks they’re ahead, but Sonic 3 is just lapping them
@ well the race in America has started but the Global race hasn’t technically started until January 17 I believe.
But it's not number 1 globally, the movie is a flop
I agree with you. As much as I don’t like mufasa, I have nothing against people who are interested in it.
I will always love Sonic 3 more and I have nothing against those who weren’t fan of Sonic 3. Not everyone will be a fan of the same thing, and that’s ok.
Exactly what I'm trying to say! Glad you enjoyed Sonic 3!
I agree
Exactly like I liked Sonic 3 more but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy Mufasa
I agree
I aint got time to read all dat
Mufasa was supposed to release in 4th July (summer) but due to strike and production delay it got pushed back. Desember slot originally slate for Avatar 3
So I'll say you guys Sonic fans so be thankful cause your movie isn't up against Avatar lol
Well....some Sonic Fanboys are attacking and raiding the movie way before this.
I'm all about sharing viewpoints and sharing opinions, not onboard for toxicity! Glad to hear so many agree!!
Same here i love sonic and lion king always has in fact its actuly awsome see two franchise i love relase new installmeants at the same time and yes i see it as a barbie oppenhimer thing
I didn't even know there was a war. I just saw what I wanted to see (Sonic 3) and ignored everything else.
I love both Sonic and the Lion King and the full on war and making fun of people for liking different movies is getting on my neeves
Hey Brian can you do a dog man review
Thank you brian for the discussion on the "internet" wars because its really a common problem when it comes to modern critiscism
Sonic Characters Singing Sonic Songs! PLEASE?
- Live and Learn
- Reach for the Stars
- It Doesn't Matter
- Believe in Myself
- Endless Possibilities
- His World
- Sonic Heroes
Hell no, that's Disney's job
i mean the VAs doing it would be great but we dont need a Sonic Musical though Keanu cant sing
I love both Sonic 3 and Mufasa Lion King! I love them both and loved your video and agree for no toxicity!
You nailed it on the head, Brian. If I ever have the opportunity to meet you, I would love to! Great job and keep up the good work!
As a huge lifelong fan of both Sonic and The Lion King, I couldn’t agree more with the latter portion of this video
Sorry to hear that happened, not's not cool. Enjoy what you like and don't let those comments get you down or make you change your opinion.
I’m a huge Sonic fan and I’m a huge Lion King fan, and I really loved both of these movies.
Your right, brian. 👍
HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🥳🎆🎇
Well put video. I saw both and enjoyed both well enough.
At the end of the day they are both fictional franchises with cartoons animals, people need to chill out 😂
Perfectly spot-on. It's sad to see this amount of toxicity at people who just enjoyed what they wanted to enjoy. ❤ Happy New Year 🎉
I appreciate you coming out and reviewing both these movies again.
Totally agree
I’ll try and explain the “war” and how it even came to that to begin with:
Ever since around 2006, Sonic fans have been attacked online just for being Sonic fans, this has lead to the fandom being both defensive and overly aggressive, and any objective victory (eg, a piece of Sonic media nobody can deny is good) is highly celebrated and often rubbed in the face of detractors.
I’m gonna watch these movies whether people hate it or not(because I’ve been a Disney fan my whole life)
From what I know... the main reason this war is happening is that both Disney and Paramount wanted that December 20 release date. Thanks!❤
You guys should have been grateful Sonic didn't complete with Avatar 3.
Your little blue furry movie would have a hard time on a box office
I get you enjoyed Lion King, that's cool, the problem is that it comes of the cost of Disney relying on nostalgia for revenue instead of trying hard and make original ideas, it's clear that Sonic had more passion in the film over Mufasa being a cashgrab
Also regarding the theater blocking, as far as i know alot of theaters, especially the ones in my area don't have Sonic 3 on IMAX screens as they've all been reserved for Mufasa.
Thank you for doing this, Brian. Happy New Year buddy.🌀🦁🥳🍰🎆
I love both movies. Both movies are my top 2 favorite films of 2024 by far. I’m happy both movies are doing well.
Happy tuesday afternoon, and new year, Brian, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
I personally don’t like the Sonic and Mufasa war!!!!
Well to be fair, it hasn’t failed yet, it still has like 2 to 3 months left to go before anyone can assume anything.
That was well said my guy! 👍
Happy New Year! 🎉
Why it could not be like "Barbenhimer"? A Mufonic 3 would be good.
Thanks for clearing things up! It helped a lot
That would have sell the film tickets like hot cakes
Thanks for always trying your best for us.😊
And i definitely agree that movie arguments like the sonic and mufasa one are rediculas.
Ok bye.
15:26 "It's only movies! Why you heff to be mad?!" 😆
You definitely make some good points in this video. Personaly i like sonic more ( im sonic fan so that is to be expected) but i didn't hate mufasa and thought it did some interesting this and i liked alote of the songs. I think that if you like mufasa that is totaly fin same for sonic 3 so let's keep it that way 😊
Hey Brian, no need to apologize to us! We understand completely you outage other obligations. Love the content! Keep it up brother!
The hate Mufasa has received is sad. People are so quick to hate things simply because they don't understand or agree. That's why we're #1!!!
The movie is still trash though.
@@Starwarsfan1253 Not even close. It had maybe 1 flaw and that is that it wasn't animated like the 1st and 2nd and 1/2 and TLG
@@oblivionmusicfrKeep coping dude. There is absolutely nothing interesting about this film. It is your typical cash grab movie from Disney.
@@Starwarsfan1253 Says the star wars fan. The last good movie in your little franchise was in 2005
@@oblivionmusicfr What does that have to do with anything? Changing the subject will not change the fact that Mufasa is still trash.
We're finally getting sonic content from Brian! 😁
Happy new
Years brian 🎉👑🥳
Sonic 3 is better. Mufasa was better than I expected. It did feel like the Lion King all over again though.
You also have the Transformers One like story telling. Where you know bestfriends who consider each other brothers.
Will predictably become enemies. It’s better than the animated sequels and prequels though.
Sonic is a good movie a very good movie😊
I love Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Happy New Year Brian Hull and i really like your impressions of different Characters
(Just like Disney’s Frozen 2, Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, Sony’s Jumanji The Next Level back in 2019)
I think I give sonic 3 an A, and depending on my mood I give Mufasa the lion King a B+ or an A-
Well said. I actually would like to see Mufasa.
Yes exactly! And I'm very glad I saw Sonic 3 and am looking forward to Sonic 4 (if they make it but they probably will lol)
@@brianhullsvoiceThey just confirmed it for 2027 😂❤
@@brianhullsvoiceoh they confirmed it before 3 came out 2027
Happy New Year Brian I like your Pokemon impressions
I liked Mufasa more than Sonic but I recognize that this is more about toxic fandoms people aren't even talking about Nosferatu or Moana 2 has made more than both put together
Overall. I enjoyed both of your reviews on these movies! : )
But it would be :
Mufasa : Oh I just can’t wait to be ki-
Shadow : When we’re done their wont be anything left for you to rule
I feel kinda bad that u had to make a video abt both movies again. It seems like u praised Sonic 3 more while giving Mufasa the lion king more criticism as a way to appease the Sonic fans, and as Sonic fan I gotta tell u that there are a bunch of toxic Sonic fans that will rip u down emotionally just for having a different opinion I hope that didn’t happen to u Brian I’m sorry if that’s how u felt don’t let that bring u down. I might have a bias for Sonic but I don’t blame u for liking Mufasa more! Keep up the great work man!
I've been a sonic fan since i was younger. I have'nt watched sonic 3 yet but from what ive heard it seems goated. Sonic fans are you here!
you tell em brian!! especially on the last part,as someone who enjoyed the og live action lion king,i wish this was said a long time ago,i remember the amount of flack that i caught for liking it in high school was so bad it hurt ngl,but i wish people would take what you said here to heart no matter the movie,im fine with talking about what people genuinely didnt like or liked about a movie, but when people get immature about it is when i take issue
I may be part of the Sonic 3 beating Mufasa bandwagon, but I'm not gonna dis those who enjoy Mufasa for what it is.
Soon you’ll talk about Sonic 4 and Godzilla X Kong 3 in 2027 and I still like to see what happens to those 2 in that year
Sonic fans should be grateful their movie isn't up against Avatar 3
2027 is gonna be stacked, not just those two, Frozen 3 and Bluey too.
@ I know
@ and even planet of the apes 5, king fu panda 5, minions 3, incredibles 3 and maybe something else
I mean disney do listened to the criticism to make the animals more expressive.....
I love both movies
I LOVED Sonic The Hedgehog 3. I’m a fan of Sonic and The Lion King (1994). Personally, I didn’t need these live action Lion King films and was never excited about them to begin with because they just feel empty to me. So when Mufasa was announced, I just ignored it. Plus Disney as a whole, I’ve grown tired of. I may not agree with you on Mufasa but I respect your opinion, Brian. I understand if Sonic is something that just doesn’t click for you and that’s ok. I’m sorry if you faced any negativity over your opinions.
You want to see a war?
Ship Sonally in front of passionate Sonamy fans, and watch them erupt.
Sonic 3 I loved since shadow and Dr. Gerald Robotnik is the best moments
They are both great movies😊
Mufasa.... Snore back story to a charicter that died, sonic 3 a sequil to two other good films and it is awesome with alot of good fanservice
I enjoyed both
I saw both movies, Mufasa had its good moments for sure but I enjoyed Sonic 3 more though. Then again maybe it needed a 3rd movie, like another hotel Transylvania movie where you play Dracula again lol (I’m still waiting on word for that new tv series set to premiere although thanks to Nickelodeon I’m constantly watching Hotel Transylvania 1-4)
Brian I Totally Understand Your Opinion On This And I Hope That The Movies I See Will Be Good And Plus I Wish You A Happy New Year My Friend Love You 🥰 💖
Sonic 3 has so much heart and fulfills peoples souls and makes them happy it’s something that exists cause it fucking matters
I'm not mad at you for anything that you said Brian Hull I like the things that you say about movies I may have different thoughts about some movies and I might not like some movies that you like but I like a lot of the of the content that you make
I just don't like live action and want every movie to be animate
