How difficult is it to disable the cellular modem? Many manufacturers (including Honda) have recently been caught proving exactly why they can't be trusted with such access.
This is the first time in history that Honda has made the civic nicer than the Accord.
Civic doesnt have ventilated seats. Rougher ride or other creature comforts like the accord
@@Hallowsaw 🙄
Please give it a rest, if you don't own one or have driven one your opinion isn't valid.
The current Accord looks like something my 65 yo Uncle would drive
Accord oozes blandness. At least the civic has a slightly more interesting design.
Yes, I second the great job presenting this review. You are the rising star at TFLC.
Good move by Honda! The 1.5 was kind of a low point compared to the non-turbo Civics. Going hybrid for everything but the Si and Type R is a good move.
The base Civic LX and Civic Sport still come with the 2 liter gas engine which is good because that means lower prices. For example the 2025 Civic LX will still be well under 25k.
@@sachinnair91the base 2.0 is down on power and now has direct injection.
I really wish it had rear seat vents. It's a sharp looking car. It'll probably sell rather well.
I could see a hatchback needing rear vents due to all the heat in the cargo area being in the cabin.
No rear seat vents in 2024/25, come on man. I like the rest of what you showed, especially that blue hatch, really looks good.
Agreed, Honda wants to be a premium car company and the omission of rear seat vents is a BIG miss.
I die every time i sit in my sisters civic, i have a $5000 base model BMW from 2008 and it has rear vents… (i know it’s luxury but damn)
@@scavenger117 Both our cars have rear seat vents. It’s a must, especially in the South and Midwest.
@@paulh6517 umm no it is not lmao
umm who cares about the vents
Honda has to price this aggressively. If it's too close to $30k, people will just opt for the new Camry which is bigger, gets the same gas mileage, has rear air vents, and has an AWD option.
Doing great young man! 👍🏻👍🏻
For this type of vehicle...i believe this powertrain would work well in the HRV...which is underpowered for its weight.
the hybrid looks more aggressive than the Si, thats crazy lol. the 3 year data plan is a clear sign that reliability isnt there anymore or of interest for manufacturers and want you in a new model every 3 years like people have been saying and called crazy by people. they start off subtle. also their 1.5 dream works engine was breaking down fast compared to their previous engine model.
they have 3 year warranty from years now, so what do you think, ?? there are also 1 or 2 year prepaid maintenance, so you think they expect you to change car every year, ??
1.5 turbos are fine as long as you change your oil every 5K at the very most...if you don't the turbos will burn up from engine sludge
You can get a Camry midsize with a spare tire, more power, and better fuel economy for under 30k 🤷♂️
Different segment
Is that before dealer markup?
@@cgatito3528 ours are discounted 🤷♂️
@@cgatito3528you only pay mark ups if you’re stupid enough to…
with rear vents too. current civic touring is 30k. i bet the hybrid sport touring will just to 32k. for 32/33k you can get the camry se. which will have the leather seats, same size screen, rear vents, more space, more power, and better reliability.
What?!? No vents for rear seats... That's a deal braker for me.
Especially in a hatchback where you have all that additional space to heat/cool
Can't wait to pay $40,000 for this.
Plus tax and hidden fees.
Ugh, don't think these will get quite up there, but I definitely share your cynicism. Hopefully won't be as bad as Toyota's dealer shenanigans. Been waiting on this car for at least a few years now.
Guess what? It is worth EVERY penny
@@user-do9ir8lv2m Worst financial advice I've seen
are you too optimistic?
Civic hybrid should have been a thing since CRZ days. Better late than never.
It was but went away with last generation. I believe this is the 4th generation of the civic hybrid.
@@dlatsch1556 thanks for clarifying!
The last time the Civic had a hybrid option was in 2015.
No more fog lamps. That ok. We had hoped for passengers vents. The stranger thing is why the charging ports were removed from the rear compartment.
No lumbar support is quite the surprise as well.
Haven't been here for a while and have to say that yes, Kase is a great presenter and hope to see more of him. Kind of reminds me of my grand nephews. 😀
So, you have a hybrid Canadian SI with an auto. The wireless charger (that really does not charge all that well) and heated seats are standard on the CA version since 2022 but not US. Also the full digital cluster. It's the same cluster minus the shift lights. It is refreshing to see the fake fog lights gone however. It was a very cheap look. The only thing you're missing is the heated steering wheel.
Love the hatch, however no rear air vents , ventilated seat and they should keep the fog lights. So Camry is the best choice
The big protruding tv screen in the middle looks kinda out of place.
Yeah if you are going to do a big arse screen at least do it like subaru where it is part of the dash
@@Hallowsaw yes, the new Toyota Tacomas screen also looks absolutely ridiculous.
Take my money, the prefect commuter
Also built in Alliston, Ontario.
Can't wait to test drive one
Best explanation of the 2025 Honda Civic changes by far! Great job. Did your homework and laid out the many improvements! Great format. Great presentation! Kudos. So excited now to see the 2025 Civic in person!
I’m only here for kase What a tremendous outstanding presenter Love ya bud
Saw an earlier video from across the pond where the test driver got 80mpg...amazing!
Been waiting on this car for a long time.
Why are they putting Large rims on their hybrids? Too much and it probably ruins fuel economy!
I'm sure the LX or EX trims will have 17's. They always show the highest trims on these reveals.
Large rims are bad for potholes and curbs too.
I hate the proliferation of large rims on mass market cars. Ruins the ride, rims are more easily damaged, and replacement tires are far more expensive. Save them for sports cars.
@jeretso yep, i just bent and popped 2 tires on the new prius. 19 inch low profile was dumb
Will this powertrain be found in the Integra as well?
For $10K more base model, possibly
They need to price these trims below what a 2025 Camry le or se cost because it’s going to be a better value at Toyota
I wonder if the hybrid will be available in the HRV as well.
Kase is such a beautiful man
The HR-V needs this hybrid Powertrain
Camrys start below 30k too, and theyre competing with the accord
The deal-killer on so many of these hybrids (and lots of other cars, too)--NO SPARE TIRE. That is just plain lame and dumb. Even in areas with supposed "road service" available for flat tires, etc., response these days can often be 2-4 hrs. In rural areas, it can be double or triple that, and often no road service available at night. That can of flat-fix is of no use if one has a shredded sidewall in the middle of the night in a rural area with no cell service. By the way, a lot of the "low-rolling-resistance" tires that are standard on hybrids also have thin sidewalls very prone to failure.
I agree, the lack of a spare was one of the main reasons why we crossed the CRV Hybrid off our list and went with a Toyota Venza hybrid.
My other car, a Ford Focus RS drops the spare tire cause of the AWD system. But I got an aftermarket one and it came in handy when a pot hole blew apart my sidewall. I was only stopped for 20 min before I got the spare on and was headed home.
They should also consider putting this engine in the Acura Integra, 200hp/232tq would make it a little more competitive in terms of power with the Germans (A3/2 series etc..)
This is a direct competition for prius because of its hatchback design. Well my 2016 prius two eco gets up to 55mpg
Civic looks super nice.👍
Hatch is better than sedan. Corolla hatch is too small.
I appreciate a hybrid that looks normal
The problem with the extra torque is that it’s gonna be all blunted by the 500 extra pounds this car weighs compared to last year’s civic SI. So basically the torque is just there to make the car feel as sprightly as last year‘s model that was 500 pounds lighter.
eh, with extra couple hundred pounds based on europe numbers, still should be more peppy especially instant torque delivery (no it wont be a tesla I know 😂)
@@heiden2413 It's around 200 lbs heavier for the top trim even with full panoramic roof, without it the difference is more like 100 lbs, so that's nothing compared to more torque/power.
@@rafawojcik3011 yeah I personally think its healthy for compact, wish they launched e awd to compete better w toyota but id still rather drive civic
Where did you get 500 lbs from? Even the Accord hybrid system doesn’t add that much.
Wish they will bring back the coupe
TYPE R Coupe with AWD would be fantastic.
4:06 does this include the vehicle's wi-fi hotspot?
Honda aced it, corrolla hybrid may have to go back to design board! 152Lb TQ vs this one @ 232LB
I’d consider buying one if they would put the rear a/c vents and usb charge ports in back.
Can’t believe it’s the 2025 model and no rear essentials.
I don’t like that Honda has gotten rid of a spare tire. That’s ridiculous.
Auto trans or CVT?
I wish it had a spare tire. However, it is a very sharp car. Plus, 50 mpg!
So no more manual outside of the SI and Type R? 😢
They didn't sell they were 1.3% of sales
@@TwoDollarGararge yeah I get that they’re not very popular now a days but still makes me sad. lol
If you get the 2.0 non hybrid I believe it might still get the manual option as well.
nope@@sergeysmelnik
@@ShaiyanHossain Yeah just looked it up and they got rid of the manual option for the non hybrid. Pretty dumb
Great looking car
Great! 50 mpg, 200hp.... FWD? Still? even an eAWD would make the difference for me, but this is a dealbreaker. I live in the snow.
The spoke design like ELON's ROCKET.....
Nothing here in the trunk to see... But I like spare tires.
Amazing cars
This might be the king commuter car.
There isn’t a manual on the hybrid. You were leaning into it but drifted early on in the video. Good video though. 1st time I saw your channel. Subscribed
No more spare tire?
There's plenty of room for a donut, jack, and an inflation too without that foam divider. I wonder if the spare is offered as an option.
It's about time for Honda to come up with some different interior colors. It seems that Honda has had black and grey interiors forever.
How about battery capacity and warranty?
The oil consuming 1.5 turbo will not be missed by many
Slip test the new traverse z71 please
Rear console got affected by the hybrid powertrain
The 1984 CRX HF was no hybrid and it got over 56mph carbureted.
it also only weighted 1600 pounds and was a death trap!!!
Greetings from EU. For our market a station wagon is a must. I hope they will make it.
50 miles to the gallon is impressive. I just expected a little more from a smaller vehicle. You have Toyota Camry that are much larger getting the same mileage.
They should’ve brought the hybrid version of the HR-V to the US first to compete against the Toyota Cross.
Gonna be a tough sell compared to the new camry. Would have to be quite a bit under 30k to seem worth it
This competes with the Corolla, Camry is accord competitor
@davewilson7602 size wise yes, but the camry starts at $28,400 and gets 53 hwy mpg. 95% of people would rather buy the roomier vehicle with no downside in the comparison.
Exactly what I was thinking. I was looking forward to this iteration but depending on the price the Camry or Hyundai Elantra hybrid may be better
Camry has a better hybrid system , awd available and higher mpg
you have a point. I bet this is a whole lot more fun to drive though.
Bring back the fun base models with a 5/6 speed that weighed under 3000 pounds. Only way I’d be interested.
Its hard to decide accord or civic their prices are going to be extremely close
Hope it coming to Vietnam soon ❤
Honda REMOVED the rear USB ports for 2025? WTH!?
How much the cost ?
The 2025 Camry sounds like it is priced in the same range. It won't get quite the same mileage but it is a bigger vehicle with available AWD. The only advantage I see for the Civic is the availability of a hatchback.
The current Camry hybrid LE already beats this mpg. The Elantra hybrid gets 20% better mpg.
Very nice car, but the lack of A/C behind, especially in this price level, kills the car success.
It's a small car it will be fine. The only car I have ever owned with AC or heat in the back is my 2005 Toyota Sienna.
Honda killed its success? Oh please! Lots of folks are being over dramatic for a loss of rear air vents! It’s a compact car! They even made it better by going hybrid and getting rid of the 1.5T!
Welp, I sell Hondas in Vegas at Honda West so I’ll see you all soon 🤩
Ask for Marcus aka the Dancing Car Salesman 😊
Wish someone would release a diesel hybrid. Imagine 100 plus mpg in a sedan or coupe
Diesel is dead post diesel gate might as well be the fuel of Satan
Sorry I haven't watched tfl in a while
Is this romans youngest?
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😅😅
He’s a TFL employee
My 2018 BMW 328d diesel gets 50+ mpg all day long. Some of us understand why the EPA and Federal Gov't wanted to get rid of small diesel engines.
Because diesel engines are toxic for the environment
How have you liked yours? I heavily considered getting one CPO back in the day, but heard about $4,000 front diff failures which made me shy away.
@@chrisss73841 For my needs I went with a RWD. I believe like most things the Diff failures are blown way out of proportion. I also believe there is a disconnect option for the XDrive as well. I bought mine 2 years ago with 20,000 miles, low mileage ones are getting harder and harder to find.
Exactly!!! Just imagine a diesel hybrid with 100 plus mpg
@@chrisss73841BMW recirculates the exhaust to get their diesel emissions down. This has caused major carbon issues in the intake. Do your research before you buy one used.
Thank you, Kase. Great looking cars, still fault Honda for dropping the 3.5 V6 from the Accord, and nearly extinct manual transmissions. I am not sold on Hybrid (half gas half electric) or EVs yet. Granted, save on MPG, but from Minnesota, decreased battery power in winter, along with heat, wipers, and 5-year maintenance/replacement costs
All wheel drive?
I wonder why honda keeps on calling it a hatchback?😂
they make a sedan and a hatchback model.
Honda is charging the civic in Canada 30 to 46g, very expensive.
Best in class will sell like hotcakes
Andre show up to press events in a suit. Case shows up in a teeshirt that needs to be washed. 🤦🏻♂️
This is awesome... I am really, really curious though, on what happens with the Integra. The power, and pricing, and even look of the hatch back looks great. It is kind of sad to see the manual go away, but overall, I think this is going to sell well for Honda.
In 1993, I bought a brand new GM Saturn Coupe, which got 40 MPG and could do 140 MPH+, and it wasn't no "hybrid", just a straight 4 banger
The technology to produce 100 to 200 MPG vehicles has existed since the inception of oil powered engines.
But because NONE of you don't do anything to help bring that tech. Back into your own society, then all ya"ll get whatever you deserve from those few, your MASTERS.
Everyone is so much more than they realize❤❤❤
Yeah, but the power you're talking about was horrible. Same reason why a V8 from that decade only had 220-260 horse power.
Yeah see what happens when you get in a wreck that that old tin can
Folsom Lake Honda in Cali is gonna charge out the ass for this with their added items you can’t turn down for a couple grand while their porters completely destroy the paint with their “microfibers” that are reused and full of dirt and oil and then drive it like they stole to to and from the gas station.
No usb or air vents in the backseat that should be a normal thing in 2024 wtf Honda
Bye Bye 1.5t
You won't be missed
very little sidewall on those 18" wheels... hard to imagine you'll get 50 mpg with those... Large wheels should always be OPTIONAL!... I should be able to get all of the safety and convenience and luxury features WITHOUT having large wheels forced on me.
Please end the Big Wheel Scam!
My 2018 ford fusion got 45-46 all day in the city. I would hope this little guy gets 50.
had a 17 fusion, that thing absolutely loved sitting in traffic. I screwed up when I totalled it at 130k miles. It had a lifetime transmission and engine warranty 😢😢😢
@@ChrisZukowski88 yea, I think they are one of the most underrated cars of all time, and that’s coming from a truck guy.
@@propertypreparedness6846 besides the infotainment system being a pain in the ass jn the wintertime, the car drove great! Was a great value too, a lot of tech for cheap! My wife doesn't miss it but I will, thats why my next one will be a hybrid too. A truck is the best car for me space wise but I drive too mamy miles, gas will murder me.
@@ChrisZukowski88 Lifetime warranty?? 😲From where? I'd love to buy for my 19 Fusion with 185k on the clock!
I've got a 19 Fusion. All time average is 48.5 MPG with 185k miles :)
new civic Si owners are in tears right now lol
Why? The SI still gets a manual and the engine is actually moldable. But I will say stock for stock this new hybrid will probably be quicker than the SI which puts it in a weird spot. They need to put the detuned 2.0t from the old accord in the SI
I don’t understand what is so great about 50 mpg…I was able get 50 mpg back in the 80s with Toyotas and Hondas…can this new Civic provide 100 mpg? How about 75 mpg…that would be progress but this new Civic is all marketing garbage without any actual improvement…as a matter of fact these are worst than 80s vehicles. More complexity and more computers….absolute garbage.
Unfortunately, Honda decided to cookie-cut the hybrid: no rear vents, usb, soft upper door trim, and no power liftgate, lumbar support, heated steering wheel, vented seats, pano roof, or 360 view screen. Honda did this for maximum profits, not thinking about 2025 American buyers
He's sooooooooo hot. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
We are still bragging about 50mpg? We achieved this in the late 80s with the honda crx and civics with a carburetor 😅
Yeah but with no tech, no power, and a super small car lol
Those cars weighed considerably less than the current Civic. Not saying that’s a good thing, but makes getting good mileage more challenging.
Really dude? Those cars weighed like 2000 lbs
Honda Please Please Please bump the hyprid power for the Prelude which will be sharing this platform
2025 and no AWD option 😂
Honda has a next Gen hybrid system with AWDe, but it’s not available till 2026-2027 at the earliest.
Yep. It's a deal breaker for me up north here
Terrible lighting for a photoshoot.
Î could never put up with this awful CVT gearbox
Great updates, but if it lacks Sirius XM, that's a deal breaker for me.
It kills me that people complain about it being too expensive, but yet also complain that Honda didn't put certain features in the car, those extra features make the car more expensive, which people will whine about.
