- One of D. W. Griffith’s greatest Biograph shorts, “A Corner In Wheat” is a milestone not only in Griffith's career, but also that of the entire film industry. The short deals with a very real and very heavy topic of the day, making liberal use of modern editing techniques to tell it. Featuring a cast of Biograph regulars, this film is almost a required viewing for anyone with interest in silent movies. Enjoy it here with my accompaniment!

"A Corner Of Wheat" is based on real-life multi-millionaire villain Fingy Conners who controlled the wheat business in the then-grain milling capitol of the world, Buffalo NY. Nationally known in his day, a number of books, a hit Broadway Play and several movies exploited Conners' reputation for evil in these artistic projects. Here is a short UA-cam video - Conners makes The Godfather look tame by comparison. ua-cam.com/video/i6NmWBifI5M/v-deo.html
Nice to know THAT THINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED AS REGARDS THE EVIL THAT PEOPLE IN POWER DO in the last 114+ years. Sad that (at least metaphorically) this film may be dated, but truly NEVER out of date.
