I don't think I have ever passed an old brick school building without wondering why it hadn't been turned into an apartment house. Schools already have gyms, cafeterias, and auditoriums which could be turned into communal dining, workout areas, and community gathering places. It's cool to see people saving and utilizing these old buildings.
One of the old schools in my town was turned into condos the other was turned into a theater with a small restaurant in it. Also when our new hospital opened in 2015 they sold the old building and the developer turned it into senior and low income housing. I like when they use the buildings for something vs letting them rot.
This is amazing. I am so happy to come across this video today. I just subscribed. I hope you get a million subscribers. I love seeing these old buildings brought back to life. 👍😀
Reuse for residential is often far more expensive than just blading it under and starting over. Between the EPA and ADA and fire regulations, you really need either a major government grant or a superprime location to make it work economically. As with tiny homes and container homes, what seems like an obvious solution usually isn’t quite so simple.
Some actually have been turned into apartments. I grew up in one in Hopewell NJ. It was a high school from 1880 to 1929. It was turned into an apartment building starting in the 30's and has been so ever since. It was very similar to the school in this video, except it's made of white stucco instead of brick and it's about twice the size of it. It has eight units, four on the bottom and four on the top.
As a contractor I appreciate you giving props to your contractors! They work so hard and rarely get the recognition they deserve! I’m excited to see the results! Best of luck to you
@immichaelwayne8285no it’s not. My dad’s a contractor and he gets paid peanuts and sometimes just breaks even once it’s all said and done on houses, due to Karen’s. There’s a lot of people he’s dealt with, that he ain’t paid near enough to deal with their stupid ends. Getting a license to build is hard to pass and expensive. And that was 20 years ago. Idk what it’s like now. So no, contractors that are honest don’t get paid enough.
@immichaelwayne8285 Recognition doesn't necessarily translate to wealth. You might earn $100 for a job, but the recognition and praise you get can be worth much more than the monetary compensation. So no, money isn't enough.
God has pronounced that the penalty of sin Even committing just one sin, would make you liable To spiritual death and separation from God for all of eternity in a place of judgment called Hell. And We’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God: (“Roman’s 3:23”) We all deserve Gods judgment All of us like sheep have gone astray, We have turned, each one, to his own way; But the LORD has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing] To fall on Him [instead of us]. : “For the wages of sin is death” BUT the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) He took our punishment death! and took it on the cross and gave up his life For us on the cross of Carvery that we may be reconciled to the father Making a way through Himself Christ died and raises again on the 3rd day for our justification so that God can be both just and the justifier of the one who places their faith in Jesus Christ so that all those who come to Christ may enter in, so that all those who place their faith in Christ Jesus may be saved (John 3:16) but not only just saved but sanctified and justified and adopted into the family of God we’re further sanctified throughout this life by the very same gospel that saved us, until one day when it’s all said and done we’re not just saved from the penalty of sin we’re not just saved from the power of sin but one day were gonna be glorified and saved from the very presence of sin this is the good news. Right now this very moment God is calling you From the darkness and into his marvelous light Seek Him and you shall find Him Repent change your mind about sin turn from your sins and ask God to forgive you He can wash you and cleanse you and Give you a new life through His Son giving up His life for you 1 John 1:9-10 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 Timothy 2:4-6 God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth. There is only one God, and there is only one way that people can reach God. That way is through Christ Jesus, who as a man gave himself to pay for everyone to be free. This is the message that was given to us at just the right time.
Y'all, that won't be a house, it'll be an absolute mansion. What a blessing to be able to take on that project and restore a piece of history in your hometown. Super cool.
My daughter used to live in an old high school that was converted into apartments. The lockers were left in the hallway and her place came complete with a huge blackboard that everyone wrote on! One apartment was in the front office and I think the bedroom was actually in the principals office. So unique. Bass Lofts in Atlanta, GA.
I dont understand how a small family can live in a place that big. The space is overwhelming. But I wish you happiness and success in all ways in your choices.
I agree and my mind boggles at the heating costs and keeping it clean! 😮 I think I preferred the idea of it divided into two properties and I would rent one out for income.
You're living my dream. I have always wanted to buy an old school and fix it up to live in. That's not gonna happen, so I will just sit back and enjoy it vicariously. LOL My late husband's aunt & uncle raised 8 kids in an old converted schoolhouse, and I thought it was a WONDERFUL place!!
You might consider an old church. Sadly, there are more and more of those where the congregation has dwindled and has to sell the church building. The church property might also be already zoned residential.
@@rebeccaharrison2968 I forgot about the zoning! We have looked at old churches, but there aren't any in our area for sale right now. But that could change!! 🙂
My dear friend bought a former school in SW Quebec and they had 9 kids…I unfortunately never got to see it. These old schools are great if you have many kiddos.
I just discovered your site and am relieved to see that we are not the only folks with BIG ideas. You are doing a lovely job and you will love the results. Almost 20 years ago we bought a 4-story, 25 room abbey from the Catholic church here in Germany. We only had to replace 47 windows, but since the building a historical protected site we had to have custom wooden-framed windows made and installed. I laid over 1000 sq ft of oak flooring and my wife plastered all of the walls in the house! We have replaced the oil central heating system and had major repairs made to the roof. There are a number of videos about the work we did on our UA-cam site. Good luck on your amazing endeavour.
Ya’ll obviously aren’t broke and have money. Had to be hundreds of thousands for the windows alone… I’m 100% jealous of what you’ve been able to accomplish. Wishing I could scrounge up enough money to take on an old building like that. I love historical buildings and it’s so sad watching their demise from lack of love and up-keep. Thanks for bringing that old gem back from the dead.
Not jealous, even though I would like to do this, but with an old church. However, I'm also very satisfied with the small cottage we have. It's fun to see the before and after projects.
I always see old abandoned homes and buildings I can imagine reviving all of them. But there are ppl that can imagine and revamp others prefer to wipe it out and start with a clean slate. We are evolving
So many times I've passed old schools that have lovely architecture but have been abandoned and have thought to myself that it would be wonderful to repurpose it into a home! It is wonderful that you're doing this! I look forward to seeing more!
I'm so thankful for those who have the will and the skill to save these old historic buildings. I wish there was more conservation. Thank you so much for saving that historic gem.🤗👍
I love how you give credit where credit is due. I also LOVE the way you and your husband have taken on a project to preserve something so incredible into repurposing for the future.
I also grew up in Franklin and I'm so glad someone purchased this school to give it the love it needs. I hope that it houses all your family's love for many many years to come!
I grew up in Johnson Co and drove past that school many times. I'm glad to see it revived/repurposed into something it deserves. You're doing an outstanding job and I look forward to seeing up coming progress!
I love the old giant double hung windows that were in schools. I remember the teacher walking from window to window with a long pole with a hook on the end, as she opened the upper windows. Still remember the sound as the windows were opened.
This is so neat. I immediately had a "This building looks very familiar" moment, only to realize it is only a couple of counties away. I love these old school buildings and sweet little country churches here in Indiana. I am so happy to see you lovingly making this into your home. Your wee ones are simply precious too. Blessing to your family.
Can I just say I’m only 2 minutes in and you have captivated me with not only this tiny school’s history and charm but your own life as well! The way you edited and made this video is impeccable! The perfect pace, love all the real life video and photo you’re showing, interesting, easy to follow, and somewhat calming😂I love everything about this video so far!!
People think my husband and I are crazy to renovate old buildings, but glad to see another comrade investing in history and grit! It’s worth it! Congratulations!
In our throw away obsessed world we live in today. It's a Great Joy fer a ole man to see a young couple take something from days gone by and turn it into what they want it to be!!! All the while keeping it it to be what it was also and not just knocking it down, tearing it up or hauling it away!!! Thank you and Keep up the Good Work!!!!
So nice to see you keeping as much original elements as possible, sourcing historic items, and buying new items to bring back the original look. It's going to be amazing when it's all done!
Wow, that's really sweet.. I live in Indiana also , Westfield, Ind.. I've always wanted a old small School or Firehouse... I'm glad that you guys aren't only restoring a fantastic building and making it your home. But you're saving a piece of Indiana History , that would've other wise just been forgotten and left there rotting away one day at a time.. All things considered , you've come a long way and it shows.. I wish you all the best as you continue to move forward.. May the Hand's of God himself cover your family and your home.🙏
What an absolute amazing story! I love these old brick buildings. I love the idea that they are repurposed for new generations. What a journey!!! I'm excited to follow the rest.
Love that you fell into my feed! Your old school is lovely! I’m an American living in SW France. My friend and her husband bought a château and vineyard about 30 years ago. They raised 4 kids and make the most delicious wine. Their 3 year old grandson loves to “help” with harvest and anytime the tractors are in use!
Oh I LOVE watching all the chateau renovations!! I subscribe to so many here on UA-cam. A school is about the closest thing to a chateau here in the US, hahaha
My house is in a village of 800 and we think it was built in the 1850’s. We did not do the renovations as we are NOT handy. Plus, we moved in 6 weeks before Covid lockdown so we were happy to have everything settled.
This is amazing. The restoration alone will be a boon to your home town. I wonder what you found tucked away under floorboards and walls. While renovating one of the active schools I work at, we found a wall that wad been converted to a blackboard and had lesson notes from 1965!
Hope the "school" is all the home you can imagine. Such a cool idea. One suggestion: I noticed what looked like corrugated pipe going in, possibly for downspout drainage? That type of drain piping is well known for clogging and/or collapsing. SCH-40 PVC piping, while more expensive, would be a much better solution. I've had mine for 15-20 years and it's never had an issue. Any leaves, etc. going through it simply washes out the end.
Awesome video! I am in Northeastern Minnesota & I grew up in a house built on the foundation of an old mining community school - the Malta School in Sparta. My great grandfather bought the school in the 1950s & because it was a huge building, they tore down the main school structure & built the house on most of the foundation - you can see the outline of the old foundation in the yard next to the garage (it's about the size of a two stall garage & the underground fuel oil tank is buried in it). I grew up with the original chalkboards on the basement walls, we had old desks, the old hand washing sinks, etc. The boiler room was in what is now a garage. The old bell housing was our sandbox playhouse. Our yard is huge - the community skating rink was in our yard & it's probably the size of two or three blocks in town. We even had a huge section of pine trees & a huge garden next to the rink & two mobile homes at times. I have only seen one old photo of the school before it was made into the house. We actually have several old school buildings on the Iron Range that are for sale & several have been taken down in recent years. The school my grandma, her brother, my dad & his 4 sisters, my older brother & sister & I went to is supposed to be demolished in December - they took down part of it already. The smaller school my grandpa attended through 8th grade is another one that's been waiting for a buyer too. It's a beautiful building that's near my great grandparents farm about 25 miles from my parents house (my grandparents lived across from my parents & their yard was even bigger). I live a couple houses away from the high school I graduated from in 1990 & it will also come down soon. In the early 1900s, the various mining companies donated the funds to build huge brick & marble schools in most of the towns here on the Iron Range & many are vacant or gone because as the population started dropping 50 or so years ago, the school districts couldn't properly maintain a huge brick building (or multiple buildings) properly & they started to get worse as years went on. The schools started merging/consolidating before I was born 50+ years ago & that usually meant that buildings in one town were abandoned. I started school in Gilbert & we merged with Eveleth when I was in 9th grade in 1986 - they used buildings in both towns since, but Eveleth's old Junior High building sat vacant ever since until they demolished it a few years ago. Eveleth even closed their industrial arts building a couple decades ago & it recently came down (it was the first building my dad taught welding in). Eveleth -Gilbert merged with Virginia to create the new Rock Ridge district several years ago & it was cheaper to build 3 new buildings (a joint jr/sr high building & 2 elementary buildings) than to fix up a few of the 100+ year old buildings. Thankfully, the organizers included a deadline & funding to demolish the old unused buildings in the new school plans! It's sad to see them come down, but it was worse to see them sit vacant & crumble over decades. The state of Minnesota has been giving funds & incentives for the smaller outstate school districts to merge with nearby schools & build modern school buildings so every student in the state gets the same tools for education that the Twin Cities Metro area kids have. It's a great program, but it's controversial because people who graduated decades ago & haven't stepped foot in the old buildings for decades are very vocal about their sentimental connections. Unfortunately, the maintenance & refurbishment costs are barriers for any interested buyers of the old school buildings too. I am so glad that you are able to save your old school building! I am sure your community members are too! Good luck!
Wow, wow, wow. That is amazing the amount of work you have done. What an incredible house you will all have. Can’t wait to see future videos. Thank You for documenting this. 👍👍
How much i wish other ppl would do this with old buildings instead of constantly building new ones!! I wish i was able financially to do it myself!! Cant wait to see the finished product 😊😊
omg I am in love ❤ What a unique home you are creating. You are putting your own work - blood sweat and tears into this, and this home will be able to be passed down through the ages. I love it!!
Hey hey! SO glad to see this, this morning. Your work on putting together these videos is definitely worthwhile. Your family will enjoy revisiting the process and you have yourself a little community here that very much appreciates and enjoys. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you so much for sharing this with the public. I grew up in Edinburgh and went to Union Church just down the road from the school building. Pretty sure my grandfather went to the school and I recognize the family names of some others in the class pictures you showed. Like you I had always wondered what the building looked like on the inside as it was just boarded up then. Best of luck as you continue this big project to completion!
Oh wow I need to add you to our future open house list! And dm me your email, I have more pics from the museum, maybe your grandfather is in one! (Schoolhousestacie @ gmail)
@@SchoolhousehomesteadThanks! I will send you my email. Turns out my grandfather went to the Nineveh school instead but it would still be great to get to see inside.
More please! Love this Lifestyles of the clever & gritty! I lived in an apartment that had been a former school, great high ceilings and a sturdy exterior! Thanks for sharing!
In 1989 my parents moved us from cedar park,Texas to Holdenville, Oklahoma. We had a beautiful ranch style home they had built throughout the 80’s. Mom didn’t want a freeway behind the house so we moved to be near family. They bought the 1934 Children’s Hospital in Holdenville. It was an abandoned building at the time and had been used for various activities over the years from vandals to those who like to empty their bowels on private properties. This video brought back so many memories of tearing down plaster walls and scraping tile off hardwood floors. Eventually the almost 6,000 sq. ft. home was finished. Sadly, mom got sick with ms in the late 90’s and dads diabetes became too much for him. He died in 2016 and mom passed in in 2020. Alone in the hospital. My sister had been renovating the home and had just replaced all the windows and spent over 100 grand in remodeling when the house burned down. But she then bought the old Bank N.A. building and has turned that into her home now. There are so many beautiful abandoned buildings in rural America. Thank you for sharing your progress.
There’s an old school in town here that’s been made into apartments .. it’s much smaller than this building, but the same energy that goes with these old buildings, schools and here, mills and factories from 100 years ago 😍 they are just incredible.. Nothing comes close to the airy feel and the HUGE windows.. I’ve always always loved them.. You’re very lucky to be able to make such a great place your own! So wonderful! Looking forward to seeing how things turn out.. !
Before I even started watching, I knew it was in Indiana! My father went to a school like this in Shelbyville! Shelbyville was always our stopping point between assignments. My dad was a pilot in the Air Force and we called it home, my aunt and uncle still lived there. Indiana will always hold a very special place in my heart. Going to love watching your home grow. Truly, Mimi Lewis
I was stopped in my tracks when I saw this old building! It's a twin to my old school in Millbach, PA, where I attended all my school years! It had its start as a public school but has been a private Christian day school for many years now & still going strong. Your video was fascinating to see how you could change this into your home! You get an A+ for all your hard work!
In 2015 my husband and I sold everything we owned, bought a derelict schoolhouse in rural northwestern ireland (online, without ever seeing it) and moved from NYC into a construction site…. Your school is ENORMOUS. The scale of your project is a hundred times the scale of ours - but I think we may have a lot of things in common. It’s changed everything in our lives, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s not for everyone, as ireland is so much more, and so much less than you would believe possible. Our schoolhouse was built in 1891, and is an old stone building which we gutted and redesigned into a very comfortable place to live. (Turns out we inadvertently bought a historic landmark building, but this is for another day - the Coracloon School House ) I wish you joy and success in bending your schoolhouse into a shape that will work well for your family. These old buildings were built to last the ages, but were designed as municipal buildings, and don’t surrender easily. With your high ceilings, the building will be cool in summer - but come winter? We have a big ceiling fan to blow the warm air down from the upper floor, back to the main living area. It makes a difference. - as the cost of our energy bills are the biggest expense we have. Be well, enjoy the chaos!
This is soooo cool!! And I'm sure the people who built this school are smiling down from heaven, happy that the school will now become a home to a lovely family 👍
What an amazing project! It's a beautiful marriage between saving an historic building -- and honoring its original purpose -- and putting it to a new and wonderful use. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the project unfold.
My childhood school in Deep Sourh was so much like this but much larger. It burned with a vengeance after school district and potential buyers had a back and forth about it. The latter wanted to create sr apts in it, exposing the old wood etc like you did, add gardens etc. as a nearby community has done. I am so excited to see a young family doing something like this! Subscribed as I want to see how it turns out!
The amount of hard work is mind boggling. The dedication is Herculean. All worth it because of the humongous potential comfort of such a large space. My only suggestion would be to consider combining two of the three kids’ bedrooms in order to produce a “good” square footage since “young uns” like to spend time away from a rest of the family when they get to be a certain age. Great job and it’s only going to get more rewarding as you move ahead. 👍
First. I have to say, you have a very pleasant voice to listen too. You could have been a DJ. Now, for what you and your family are doing, my mind just spins thinking about trying to organize such a project. How in the world do you care for 2 children, that in itself is a full time job, then the 2 of you take on a 9000 sq ft School/Home. I totally admire your fortitude, because many would want to jump ship, the moment something like the windows had to be taken care of. I'm subbing the Channel, because no way do I want to miss seeing this project going forward. Honestly, I wish you the best in all your endeavors.
Wow, great video. An old friend of mine moved into an old school in a small town in Minnesota but it was less than half the size of yours, and being a working artist, I'm sure he kept it very wabi-sabi... 😅 I especially loved the background music -- had a very Blood Sweat And Tears, "Owl And The Pussycat" movie soundtrack vibe... May your home continue to blossom in its new incarnation... ❤
Perry NY nas converted the old Elementary School into a combination of apartments in the upstairs rooms and commercial small businesses in first floor. I attended a course in Microsoft Office andwas a ' paid ' volunteer at a local historical society for two years. I was one of two people who was familiar with computers. (I'd had a repurposed computer business for 4years) I wrote instruction manuals for using various equipment for the less familiar coworkers. Cataloging artifacts and identifying cemetery plots in a 200 year old cemetary. And every plot in the village by street from an 100 year old map. Lots of fun . Also did historical tours of facility.
FIRST: Way to Humanize the contractors!! Rarely happens, I always see them villainized for delays, issues, costs etc. SECOND: I love watching this! I want to do this soo bad and you really show the hard parts as well as the good parts! I am inspired!
I subbed so I can keep up with your progress.. Beautiful place.. if you don't mind me asking, how much did you have to pay for the school.. So many places like this still around that are caving in.. Glad you got this one before it's to late... Take care and God Bless....
@@watermelonlover745 and you still need capital to do these things, no matter how hard you're willing to work. Two things can be true at once, original comment still stands.
Nice project, but... wow! So many private facts overshared in this video. I'm amazed about how people can share everything about themselves so easily without worrying a bit about their own family's safety.
Many times subscribers come to feel like the youtube families they watch are their own. They are very invested in their lives and projects. I just found this channel and I am going through the playlist. I was very happy to hear a bit of background on the family.
biden owns three homes two are in delaware. one is beach front property and the other is in an exclusive neighborhood in wilmington. both places would be perfect to house veterans too!
As someone that owns rental properties and has done a full gut on a 1922 farmhouse I can ya that you’re inspirational. He level of detail, planning, and hidden expense is enormous e and your doing it right. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to keeping an eye out for further updates and the final result! Keep up the good work it will be well worth the blood, sweat, and tears.
This was a very well presented and thorough quick rundown of all the hard work and progress you've made in turning this Country School into a home. You have a lovely family. I have to admire your tenacity. It's obviously inherited from your parents. So sweet you have loving parents who helped you get this project underway. The surrounding areas are beautiful. Can't wait to see more. ❤
Just saw a quick video over on Facebook and immediately came to youtube to look for your channel. Going to thoroughly enjoy watching from the beginning!! Can't even begin to imagine what it took to do all this.
I am so happy that you made this video. Quick easy to understand not long to wear me out, but share with me all the great improvements you’ve done on this beautiful beautiful school. I can’t wait to see more updates and see more of how you’ve transformed this beautiful school and do something fabulous and how you’re going to use the space. Thanks so much my dear friend you have a new follower love love this video.
This is so cool & awesome! Thanks for all your hard work to save this historic school & it's wonderful architecture. I've always loved old buildings & their unique architecture. Just don't build like that anymore. And I'm happy to say that the old high school building in my small hometown has been lovingly restored! Made it into 22 apartments! Kept the classroom doors, blackboards & lockers. Even restored & kept the old auditorium for town events/meetings. It was pure joy to drive by and see the progress. The company that did this is headed by a man that is passionate about restoring old, historical structures. They've finished 2 other projects in the county. Next is a more modern, 6 story, bank building. To be turned into apartments and small businesses on the lower level. My hats off to you for taking on this job! Your town will be so grateful for your efforts! 👍👩🦳☮
How FUN! Lotta work, but gratifying! What a way to honor those who came before, as you grow into the future with your family. I look forward to being apart of this journey and seeing how this project evolves. Many blessings be with you guys, and to all the amazing craftsmen working so hard to manifest this vision for you all. So good. Love channels like this. Thanks for making a positive difference in this world.
What a wonderful project turning an old school into a real home in which to raise a family. It must be gratifying to see it come together. I look forward to future videos on the progress. Thanks for sharing. Have a Blessed day.
I absolutely love this idea. I am a retired educator of 53 years and, if younger, would love to find an old one room school house to renovate. There was one in KY where I lived for 25 years that was purchased by a family and renovated. It is beautiful. It was not a one room school, but brick and followed the general idea architecturally of the building you purchased. I wish you the very best.
Hi, this is so awesome and thanks for the update. We live in Indiana as well, west central area (Fountain County). I can't wait to see the next update! Stay safe and well. Merry Christmas!
Guy in northern Indiana has remodeled an old school near Mishawaka and turned one of the old classrooms into a rec room, set up like an old bar to watch football and other sports on a large screen, and entertaining friends. Really cool place to hang out
I absolutely love projects like this; painful as they can be, they are immensely satisfying when you see the history you're revealing... Thanks for taking the time, effort, trouble, and love to make this beautiful and historically significant building your home...giving it "life"...❤
I don't think I have ever passed an old brick school building without wondering why it hadn't been turned into an apartment house. Schools already have gyms, cafeterias, and auditoriums which could be turned into communal dining, workout areas, and community gathering places. It's cool to see people saving and utilizing these old buildings.
Syracuse NY has a bunch of them where I grew up. Here in Oregon many have been turned into community rec centers.

God has pronounced that the penalty of sin
Even committing just one sin, would make you liable To spiritual death and separation from God for all of eternity in a place of judgment called Hell.
And We’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God: (“Roman’s 3:23”)
We all deserve Gods judgment
All of us like sheep have gone astray, We have turned, each one, to his own way; But the LORD has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing] To fall on Him [instead of us].
: “For the wages of sin is death”
BUT the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
(Romans 6:23)
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8)
He took our punishment death! and took it on the cross and gave up his life
For us on the cross of Carvery that we may be reconciled to the father Making a way through Himself
Christ died and raises again on the 3rd day for our justification so that God can be both just and the justifier of the one who places their faith in Jesus Christ so that all those who come to Christ may enter in, so that all those who place their faith in Christ Jesus may be saved (John 3:16)
but not only just saved but sanctified and justified and adopted into the family of God
we’re further sanctified throughout this life by the very same gospel that saved us, until one day when it’s all said and done we’re not just saved from the penalty of sin we’re not just saved from the power of sin but one day were gonna be glorified and saved from the very presence of sin this is the good news.
Right now this very moment God is calling you
From the darkness and into his marvelous light
Seek Him and you shall find Him
Repent change your mind about sin turn from your sins and ask God to forgive you He can wash you and cleanse you and Give you a new life through His Son giving up His life for you
1 John 1:9-10
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 Timothy 2:4-6
God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth. There is only one God, and there is only one way that people can reach God. That way is through Christ Jesus, who as a man gave himself to pay for everyone to be free. This is the message that was given to us at just the right time.
Right because a lot of times, people want you to believe they did all of the work themselves
it might have to do with the fact for every good contractor there are 9 bad contractors.
Y'all, that won't be a house, it'll be an absolute mansion. What a blessing to be able to take on that project and restore a piece of history in your hometown. Super cool.
It's always gratifying to find someone who wants to renovate rather than demolish. Two thumbs up.
So cool, I am jealous.
I love it when people give old buildings new life.
same
I dont understand how a small family can live in a place that big. The space is overwhelming. But I wish you happiness and success in all ways in your choices.
I agree and my mind boggles at the heating costs and keeping it clean! 😮 I think I preferred the idea of it divided into two properties and I would rent one out for income.
Maybe they can rent out the basement to cover some of the renovation costs?
Or maybe their parents would live there also?
Maybe they just like a lot of space. I’d love to have that much square footage.
It's going to be 4 families living in that school house
This seems like it could translate into generational housing better than just a family of four
@@theREmissionary I wish you the best!
My dear friend bought a former school in SW Quebec and they had 9 kids…I unfortunately never got to see it. These old schools are great if you have many kiddos.
SAME! Still holding on to hope! 😊
That is amazing!!! Great job!!!
@@vmuz3516 Thank you. 😊
Can you post your UA-cam channel?!!!! I would LOVE to check it out!!!
@@jenns6063 Gladly, it is ua-cam.com/users/Broo44videos
Just checked your UA-cam videos and they’re very wholesome I just subscribed! May God bless you and your wife always 🙏🏼
Ya’ll obviously aren’t broke and have money.
Had to be hundreds of thousands for the windows alone…
I’m 100% jealous of what you’ve been able to accomplish.
Wishing I could scrounge up enough money to take on an old building like that. I love historical buildings and it’s so sad watching their demise from lack of love and up-keep. Thanks for bringing that old gem back from the dead.
It will stand as a symbol of segregation and racist hatred of children for another hundred years.
The more of these videos of people fixing up old buildings I watch, the more I realize that the big secret to doing it is really just money.
I don't think anybody thought it was a secret. It's not about not having any money and doing it. It's about the project being unique
I love watching old buildings given a facelift and life!
My parents remodeled my mom’s old high school when I was a kid, and we lived in it for 10 yrs. Funnest childhood ever.
Thank you! Also small world!
Congratulations!
post some videos plsssssssss if u can
In our throw away obsessed world we live in today. It's a Great Joy fer a ole man to see a young couple take something from days gone by and turn it into what they want it to be!!! All the while keeping it it to be what it was also and not just knocking it down, tearing it up or hauling it away!!! Thank you and Keep up the Good Work!!!!
Thank you so much!!
Love seeing old abandoned buildings find a new purpose!
This is so cool...luve to see an old building being redone and not torn down. There is a reason it is still standing.
I love to see old buildings rehabed instead of demolished. Thanks and congratulations!
Always thought my old elementary school would make awesome condos. Beautiful wood floors, tall ceilings & windows that went almost floor to ceiling!!
It’s wonderful to see you restore a piece of history 🥳
What an absolute amazing story! I love these old brick buildings. I love the idea that they are repurposed for new generations. What a journey!!! I'm excited to follow the rest.
I LOVE it when old buildings are saved. Thank you!
Good for you. I love it when people restore and repurpose old buildings/houses. 😊😊😊
This is amazing. The restoration alone will be a boon to your home town. I wonder what you found tucked away under floorboards and walls. While renovating one of the active schools I work at, we found a wall that wad been converted to a blackboard and had lesson notes from 1965!
They found a hidden room.
That would've been sweet.. You find anything else in there that was cool ??
@C.Brown5150 nothing else really. We left it and covered it back up to preserve it
Love the fact you’ve used the original doors also the floor mosaic will look fantastic. Stunning building….. you guys are very blessed.
Good luck!
I appreciated reading your story. Thank you.
I just found this video. Now I CANNOT WAIT to see more!,
Hello from Bloomington Indiana! I've driven past your school before and I think it's so awesome that you're making it into a home.
What an awesome dream project!!! Thank you for caring and preserving a beautiful old building!! 🥰
This is fabulous! What an amazing experience for your children as well.
That’s awesome, I’d have my parents living with us. Your home is going to be stunning. ❤
So close to us!! And thank you!
(Turns out we inadvertently bought a historic landmark building, but this is for another day - the Coracloon School House )
I wish you joy and success in bending your schoolhouse into a shape that will work well for your family.
Wow!🎉 I'm so glad I found your channel. I've subscribed and can't wait to see how it all comes along!❤
This looks amazing! This is my absolute dream to do something like this! I can't wait to see the house finished!
Hearing your history and the connection to the school just made me cry. So cool. Thank you for saving it.
Not to mention that through that whole process, she was either pregnant or caring for a toddler/newborn! Has my respect for sure.
Goodness, what a project! My brother remodeled and currently lives in a two room country school we went to as children. Oh the memories.
Determination full tilt, amazing!!!
Incredibly proud of you! Your bravery and determination is amazing ❤
Thank you for taking all of us your families journey with your beautiful home. I love what you’re doing
Wow, great video.
An old friend of mine moved into an old school in a small town in Minnesota but it was less than half the size of yours, and being a working artist, I'm sure he kept it very wabi-sabi... 😅
I especially loved the background music -- had a very Blood Sweat And Tears, "Owl And The Pussycat" movie soundtrack vibe...
May your home continue to blossom in its new incarnation... ❤
Wow. There are so many homes in the Midwest like this. This is incredible and it is great to have expertise and help in the family.
I can’t imagine what this old building will cost to heat in the winter 🥶
Such a huge beautiful mansion
Oo I'll look it up, thank you!!
We have a beautiful old school here that I love just driving by. It’s still used as a school

I wish you the very best.
the amount of hard work and love that went into making this a home is actually amazing ❤
Super glad to see the tuck pointers are grinding out the mortar first. As a former worker of a tuck pointing company, this is vital. 3:59
Thank you for saving this building. I hope you love your home.

I have lived close to this school building all my life. I have driven by it countless times. Good luck in finishing the project.
Hi, this is so awesome and thanks for the update. We live in Indiana as well, west central area (Fountain County). I can't wait to see the next update! Stay safe and well. Merry Christmas!

Your energy and patience is unbelievable
I absolutely love projects like this; painful as they can be, they are immensely satisfying when you see the history you're revealing...
Thanks for taking the time, effort, trouble, and love to make this beautiful and historically significant building your home...giving it "life"...❤
